GM Watery Soup |

In PF2, Aid works a bit differently - the DC is 20 to Aid (vs DC 10 in PF1), and the bonus is +1 (vs +2 in PF2). Furthermore, Aiding is not without risk - a critical failure on an Aid will hinder the primary with a -1 (something that didn't exist in PF1). Depending on how important the Aid is, and what your modifier is, it may be rational to abstain.

Whelp. Here we go.
Erevan examines the various flora scattered in the forest in an attempt to track the thief they're pursuing. He tries to suppress his urge to examine EVERY plant and to focus on the task at hand. "Hmm... yes, this flower seems out of place... and yet, this one here is something I haven't seen before..." He realizes he is taking too long and looks at his companions. "Oh yes, we're tracking something... er, hmm... "
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

GM Watery Soup |

Erevan quickly locates marks in the snow that resemble pawprints, but have the gait of a biped. After following the tracks off the road and navigating deeper into the forest for about an hour, the Pathfinders come to a clearing surrounded by tall pine trees. Ice clings to the pine needles, reflecting the light into the glittering grotto below.
A confused biped with the head of a fox sits on a rock, looking confused and worried, although a set of joyful pawprints around the clearing suggest he was considerably happier earlier.
The second spirit witnessed the fox-creature’s escape from the battle, following him to a clearing deeper in the woods. There, the spirit observed the fox-creature open up the sack, grab fistfuls of treasure, and hold them up to sparkle in the light with a wicked grin. Then, the fox-creature begins sorting through the treasure, separating the most valuable and less valuable items.
The Pathfinders can trick the fox-creature into surrendering the relic by playing on his fears by succeeding at a Deception check, persuade him that his score is not actually valuable by succeeding at a Underworld Lore check, or discretely separate his stolen goods from his sack by succeeding at a Thievery check.

![]() |

Yanko’s eyes tremor for a few seconds before they roll back in his head – the spirit is sharing the vision of the fox-like creature again. With a gasp Yanko shakes his head as he comes to his senses again.
”Remember.” He whispers quietly to his fellow agents. ”We might be able to lie and scare it into thinking the relic it stole is haunted. We might be able to convince it that what it got isn’t that valuable at all – though I get the impression that you need some knowledge of the Underworld and criminal to do so. Lastly, we might be able to simply steal it back.”
Not sure if I’m allowed to share the required skill checks. If our GM says it’s fine go ahead an read the spoiler.

Good. We have found the fox man. Now we can get the scarf back.. When he thinks 'we', he means the other pathfinders.

Snarlfist leans on his spear, staring down the foxman before finally stepping forward and speaking.
"Come now friend, you've led our friends around in circles for weeks, for what a green scarf? It holds great sentimental value to our boss Amara-Li but that's it. Return it and we can all escape this maddening chase."
deception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

GM Watery Soup |

The fox-creature is clearly skeptical of Snarlfist at first, but then Snarlfist puts on his best Hero face and the fox-creature seems to understand.
One success - everyone is allowed to make a check.
"It has great value, eh? If you were to put a number on that value, what would you say that number might be?
After all, I did steal it, fair and square. It wouldn't be right for me to just give it to you, now, would it?"
Arcana, DC 15

Myra steps forward, giving Lough a knowing glance as she does (hoping for that assist with deception). "My new friend...the scarf does indeed have value to us. We have been sent to make it safe, as this scarf is HAUNTED! I shall spare you the story, but suffice to say, a very unfortunate victim wore this scarf the night she was mercilessly BEHEADED! She stood before her love, and when she removed her scarf, HER HEAD FELL OFF OF HER SHOULDERS and rolled down a long stairway!"
Myra stares into the foxes eyes as she pulls her Dwarven tarot deck from her pouch. She continues her story, "ONLY I, MYRA BEARER OF FORTUNES, can keep the spirit of the scarf from its murderous rampages!"
Myra tosses her cards into the air, and as they fan out in front of her, she scowls at the fox person.
Casting prestidigitation to assist with the special effects.

"Not Beheaded" Lough builds on Myra's story "But drained of intelligence" he gives the foxman a sinister look "For weeks she wore the Scarf, but one day the Spirit inside grew angry, and as a Sentient Creature that feasts upon it's Host" he unconsciously catches Yanko's eye here "upon growing bored with them, it establishes a link with it's mind, and sucks out all the brilliance, and reduced her to a grey and vegetative husk, devoid of sensation" and adds "But although Myra forgets the specific details of it's disposal of it's former hosts, she does possess the knowledge for it's exorcism!"
"Unless, of course, you'd like to find out yourself?" he dares!
Deception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

GM Watery Soup |

Myra, your roll is a fail, and so is your reroll, so I'm removing a Hero Point from the tracker but it doesn't change the outcome.
The fox is clearly distraught at the notion that the scarf is haunted. In fact, he admits, "At first I reveled in my score, however, I was approached by one of the forest’s spirits, who warned me that the stolen relic housed a trapped kami, making it the target of a dangerous witch
seeking to corrupt its magic. I want nothing to do with witches and vegetative husks. Take it, take it all!"
The fox-creature returns not just the scarf, but all the valuables he stole from the caravan. Additionally, he offers the Pathfinders a weapon to use against the witch: a low-grade cold iron katana.
The katana and the returned treasures comprise 4 Treasure Bundles. Anyone who wants to can use the katana for the remainder of the scenario. If multiple people want to use it, I leave it to the group to decide who gets it.
"I think I saw her over there," he says, pointing at another clearing in the distance.
Please arrange your icons however you wish in the yellow box on Slide 7.
As the Pathfinders walk over, a frail, female voice speaks up.
"Is someone there? I'm lost in the woods."

Lough grabs the Katana, and whirls it with some skill - showboating a little, yes - but then scratches his own claws down the blades, the resultant sound like nails on a chalkboard!
Lough's claws are Cold Iron too
And so he passes it along "Ronnie? Here!" handing him the blade "Fine enough craftsmanship if you ask me!"

![]() |

Yanko watches his companions sweet-talk and swindle their way through the conversation with the fox-like creature with crossed arms and a smirk in his face. Well. No pickpocketing needed. He thinks and the smile gets wider after the creature hands over not only the scarf but the remaining treasure as well.
He squints and shudders when Lough runs his supernatural claws along the blade of the well crafted katana. ”Too kind, you part so easily with the treasure you stole.” Yanko eventually addresses the fox. Without waiting for a response he turns to his fellow agents. ”So a witch hunt it is, I presume?”
With an overly serious tone he turns to Lough. ”You are aware that you jinxed it, yes? Instead of just lying to him, we now in fact have our hands on a proper possessed relic. Obviously your fault.” The wide grin flashing over Yanko’s face betrays the serious delivery of his words. ”Let’s go.”
Moments later on the clearing
”You heard that, too right?” Yanko whispers to the group after hearing the tender voice of a woman. Instinctively he lowers himself, while trying to utilize the underbrush and surrounding trees to mask his approach to the best of his abilities.

"Well that went quite how we wanted it to turn out. You sure convinced him that the scarf was cursed. Though it seems that our fox friend over there seemed a little scared of something."
Erevan nods in agreement. "I heard that too, Yanko. Sounds like someone needs aid."

![]() |

Ronnie holds out his hand for the katana. "Yes. I know how to use this. This might hurt the witch more because of the cold iron? I can do this.". He says as he switches out weapons.
Quieter "That voice. Does it not sounds witchy?" [/b]

"Jinx nearly everything I touch!" Lough retorts with a mix of disarming honesty and downright smartassery "Re-Stole" he then corrects the choice verb his dhampir friend used to describe the party's joint actions.
To Myra "Careful with that!" indicating the Scarf.
He simply nods to Ronnie - with whom they share some sort of "fighter's understanding" which transcends words.
And shortly "I did hear that" and returns with his own tease "You smell lunch my good man?"
Lough draws his shield and hammer here. Defend

"I'm trying to trick them!" the woman hisses in return.
"But they're not talking back to you," the winged creatures protest.
"Okay, fine, we'll murder them. And when I do, I'll make them into your new brothers and sisters!" she declares.

Yanko turns around and does not necessarily focus on the homunculi and the vanished hag, instead he spreads both his arms again and closes his eyes as he begins his small chant. Like the last time a sourceless wind picks up and moves the hem of his black leather cloak. In an at first slow twisting whirlwind pieces of bones, dirt but also the rotten carcass of what seems to once has been a rabbit accumulate in the twisting maelstrom of necromantic energies. Yanko’s mumbling becomes more audible now. ”Spirits of the forest, bones in the ground, lingering souls; let me be your guide. I bestow upon you the gift of a second life. Be born again. Twice-Born.”
With the last couple of words the wind picks up intensity and the twisting whirlwind accelerates. A loud clap of Yanko’s hands and the hovering mass of bones and dust collapses without a sound and a second later another skeleton appears in the woods.
