1 person marked this as a favorite.

I decided to try something a little meatier now and run the Fall of Plaguestone.

I am looking for 4 or 5 brave souls that are willing to commit to the whole thing. I expect it to take about 3 months of PbP. Though I will trim a few of the more fluff/low risk encounters for speed. Still will take a while.

Unlike my normal PFS games, this will be by application and I will leave this open for about a week while I get everything ready.

Please be able to post daily -- Though Saturday and Sunday will normally count as one "day" However, I know there will be conventions and what not during that time. So as long as you let the table know we can bot/work around you. Also there will be some flexibility around the upcoming Holidays.

I normally do one GM post in the morning Eastern US time and a few follow ups though the day.

Since this is campaign mode, I am pretty much open.
* All published ancestries and versatile heritages are available (without any AcP Boon)
* All Common options are available, and Uncommon ones are if your character meets the requirements.
* This will go to level 3 so have ideas on how you will want to progress. We will level up between chapters.
* Backgrounds from the Adventure (Lesser Scion, Lost and Alone, Missionary, Refugee, and Teamster) are encouraged but not required.

For you application. Please include:

Name:
Ancestry/Background/Class:
A notable event of your past:
A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3):
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure)

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly:

Looking forward to this!

Some quick adventure Background:

ETRAN’S FOLLY GAZETTEER

Etran’s Folly is a tiny community of about 300 people, but many of them live on farms or in small homes on the outskirts. It once sported a population nearly double that number, but a plague wiped out a number of families 20 years ago and the community has never fully recovered. Aside from the Feedmill and the ruins up on Etran’s Hill, the buildings in town are of typical wattle-and-daub construction, with thick thatch roofs.

BORT’S CARAVAN AND CREW

Traveling all around the Five King’s Mountains and into the lands beyond, Bort’s Merchant Caravan is well known and regarded as a fair and honest purveyor of goods, raw materials, and supplies.

Bort Bargith (NG male dwarf merchant): Bort keeps his prodigious beard immaculately trimmed and well maintained. Bort is a friendly, honest merchant, who prides himself on having whatever a small community might need. He’s warm and caring toward the members of his crew and polite and courteous to his paying passengers. He can often be found with a mug of ale in one hand and savory food in the other, telling some outlandish story about his travels, which generally involves him getting out of danger in the most ridiculous of ways

Horizon Hunters

Dot me as interested, no idea of what to play since most options are open.

I'll also need to read a little about the backgrounds and so before submitting.

I have been looking for and PF2 AP for some time.

Name: Ajax
Ancestry/Background/Class: Human (Garundi) Herbalist Ranger
A notable event of your past: Tracked and rescued a local farmer's daughter.

A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): ???
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure):???

(not sure what mean here. Are you talking about build choices, or some type of event?}

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: Because the opportunity arose and Bort is a reputable man.

So am I.

Vigilant Seal

I've just recently started getting into PFS (but I'm a longtime PbP player), so I'm relatively new to running PCs under PFS rules and understanding how everything works. I do, however, have this investigator from Ustalav which I've taken thru one PbP PFS scenario (Tarnbreaker) and he's currently wrapping up another one (Mosquito Witch), but he's still 1st level. Would he be eligible to run thru your Fall of Plaguestone game in campaign mode? If so, I'd like to submit him for consideration.

Submission Details:

Spoiler:
Ancestry/Background/Class: Human Scholar Investigator (Empiricist)
A notable event of your past: Recently competed in the famed Balgirdtrek, an overland race across the tundra in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, earning some small fame for his team of Pathfinders by winning the event.
A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): He's trying to master a few rudiments of arcane magic by studying an ancient set of scrolls (i.e., with the intent of multiclassing via the wizard archetype). I intend to make him into something of an arcane investigator and explorer, but also a guardian against existential threats to Golarion as a whole (and especially his home country of Ustalav).
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure) As a member of both the Pathfinder Society and the Esoteric Order of the Eye in Ustalav, he has a profound interest in gathering enough lore to protect his homeland from any future ravages of the Whispering Tyrant (and hopefully lock him away again in Gallowspire or put a permanent end to his evil).
Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: He's on his way to Absalom to report to the main Pathfinder Society's Grand Lodge. After taking a boat across Lake Encarthan to Molthune, an upriver barge to Canorate, and then an overland trip to Elidir in Isger, he's joined Bort's caravan as a passenger to see him safely to Almas in Andoran so he can complete his journey with one last ship across the Inner Sea to Absalom--delighting in the sights, sounds, and mysteries of each culture along the way.

For this adventure you will bring a fresh level 1 character. You can use a similar versions of your character but it will be a different one.

When we complete, you will get a chronicle that can be applied to any of your characters, if you want. Having a viable pfs character is not required for this game.

Since this isn't a PFS scenario, your character isn't required to be a member of the pathfinder society. It would work better if they were not. Also while playing this, your character isn't "locked." The chronicle is applied when we complete

FYI. Even though in this adventure we will go from 1 to 3, the chronicle only rewards one level worth of XP (12 xp) for any one character, and that character does not need to level 1 to 3 to receive it

Dotting, and interested.

So, if the character isn't required to be in the PFS (and better if it isn't), how is the chronicle ultimately applied to my other PFS character? Do you just fill it out and register it for the other guy?

Horizon Hunters

I think so... As I understand you can use some boons with any of your characters or even a new one like the Ancestry unlocking ones.

Yes.

The following is the from the sanction document on applying credit

Applying credit wrote:

Players who complete this adventure, and GMs who run the adventure, gain the Chronicle sheet included with this document which they can apply to any of their Pathfinder Society organized play characters. Players must decide which character to apply credit to when they receive the Chronicle sheet and the GM signs it. Each Chronicle sheet gives 12 XP and access to some or all of the player options (such as items, feats, or spells) contained within the module.

Players earn access to the items and options listed on the Chronicle sheets through their actions during the adventure. If the PCs do not discover an item or fulfill the conditions described in the module to gain access to an option, cross that option off of each player’s Chronicle sheet. If a single PC gains access to an option presented on the Chronicle sheet that can only be obtained by one member of the party they have earned that option on the Chronicle sheet for all members of the group.

There are some items that will only be available to the character you apply it to, and other options that are available for any of your characters.

Vigilant Seal

Thanks for the explanation. That helps tremendously.

So, without the need to craft a PFS character, that kind of frees me up to try something completely new (and further my PF2 experience). Given that, would you be open to letting me attempt an elven magus from the recent playtest rules? I'm curious to see how it performs in a game. If not, I may lean elven fighter or rogue with a spellcasting dedication (haven't decided, but could be wizard or druid or even a primal sorcerer). Either way, I'd like to play something with a bit of martial and spellcasting prowess.

I'm interested, but still wholly new to 2nd Edition. I've got most of the general ideas, but still dipping my feet on character creation. Are you cool with players new to 2e that might stumble a bit?

I've only heard good things about your GMing, Gustavef, and I've been interested in this module for some time now.

Name: Dirru Lanrun
Ancestry/Background/Class: Human (Versatile), Lost and Alone, Barbarian (Spirit Instinct)
Notable event: Dirru overslept and missed the caravan heading to Vigil. Determined not to let his family down - and waste all the gold and time they'd spent training him to be a squire - he set off after the caravan on foot. By the time he arrived in the capital city, it was nothing more than smoking ruins haunted by the ghosts of the living and the specters of the undead. He turned and fled, trying to forget both the sight of greasy smoke rising above ruined buildings and the sound of hundreds of voices whispering in his ears. Where were you... they repeated over and over. Where were you when Vigil fell? Tears streaming down his face, the young man tried to answer them - but the voices pressed on him louder and louder until he couldn't bear it any longer and darkness overtook him.
Short-term goal: Prove he is not (just) a failure.
Long-term goal: Make peace with his past and his ghosts.
Why are you with Bort's Caravan: Dirru has been trying to drink the voices away and is now trying to get as far away from what was once Lastwall - and the site of his biggest failure - as he can.

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns I can clarify, and best of luck with the casting decision.

Name: Aurora
Ancestry/Background/Class: Versatile Human, Missionary, Cloistered Cleric
A notable event of your past: Was removed from a girls home at an early age to serve at a temple dedicated to the ancient Osirin Goddess Isis. After retreiving training and education their, to repay the gratitude she has been tasked with going out and spreading the word of her faith.
A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): To spread word of her faith as far as she can go. Aiding and Healing along the way, not discriminating on who she has contact with,
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure) Return home and provide an account to her adventure and help raise the next back of initiates.

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: Tagged along to the caravan when I overhear them heading tto a new town, possibly in need.

Working on the character. The one in the stat block is left from PFS1 adventure. just reusing the profile

Name: Raurya i'Taure
Ancestry/Background/Class: Human (Half-elf) herbalist ranger
A notable event of your past: Raurya has lived with her pureblood Aiudeen mother in Kyonin all her life--until recent upheavals in the world forced the elves to turn their attention outward once more. Now, her mother tells her, she must travel south, to Andoran, and establish diplomatic ties with the human father she's never met.
A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): Continue to raise the young hawk she's been raising since before she left home, and find opportunities to improve goodwill towards the elves of Kyonin (generally by helping people solve problems and reminding them where she's from).
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure) Establish contact with her Andoran father and, hopefully, use their relationship to strengthen Andoran's ties to Kyonin. She's honestly not sure how she's going to accomplish that, but she's going to give it her best shot.
Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: Taking a caravan from Elidir to Almas was part of Raurya's travel plan (rather than travelling through Galt to the east, or south over and through the mountains), and Bort was the first caravan leader to accept her offer of travel in exchange for work--specifically, her sharp eyes and deadly aim with her bow.

Other Notes:
The "upheavals in the world" is pulled from the Lost Omen's World Guide, referring to the return of Tar Baphon, but I wasn't sure if putting that in her backstory here would be considered spoilers for people who weren't familiar with the events of Tyrant's Grasp.

Also, her current background is Herbalist, but the closest provided background for her backstory would probably be Lesser Scion if we say her father is nobility in Andoran. I'd be down to change that if you think it would work better for the adventure.

Horizon Hunters

Name: Wingate Von Celcius

Ancestry/Background/Class: Human Tiefling/Lesser Scion/Alchemist (Bomber)

A notable event of your past: Being forced to run away from his home in Cheliax due to being a tiefling, a failure of her house at properly controlling Devils, nevertheless her mother can't just abandon him and he has been traveling since then.

A short-term goal for your character: Gain the respect he deserves despite his diabolic Ancestry and have his way with the ladies without having them to call an exorcist.

A long-term goal for your character: Restore Cheliax and get rid of diabolism and all the corruption that it entails.

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: Wingate was just taking a ride on Bort's Caravan while on his way to his cousin house in Almas, despite his noble heritage he isn't that picky or refined, also Bort didn't seem to care about his horns and tail.

Haven't made him a profile or finished his build yet BTW.

Name: Azzerix Wyrmclaw

Ancestry/Background/Class: Kobold/Scholar (Arcana)/Sorcerer

A notable event of your past: Azzerix was exiled from the Bright Fangs tribe for trying to take over as the tribe chief. (It didn't go over well). Azzerix claims he chose to leave because his "talents and majesty were wasted in such a small, cramped lair", and will defend that story tooth and nail to anyone who even thinks to suggest otherwise, but the truth it, he just could not bring the old chief low.

A short term goal for your character: Azzerix is looking for a lair to call his own and start to spruce up into something worthy of his draconic glory. He's not opposed to a "fixer upper" and certainly has no qualms with kicking out any lesser beings who have already taken up residence in it.

A long term goal for your character: No dragon worth his scales would be caught dead without a sizable hoard of treasure and a realm's worth of obsequious subjects to rule over. So once his lair has been fixed up, he intends to start gathering a mountain of valuables and finding a community or group of obsequious subjects to conquer (or, at least grovel at his draconic might).

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling to Etran's Folly: The Winter Dragon works for nobody, but himself! But he is still lair shopping, and the caravan is headed out to a little out-of-the-way community. Transportation is important, and Bort's Caravan is at least efficient in its movement, so it has been graced with the majestic company of the Winter Dragon! ...at least until they get to Etran's Folly.

Name:Killian Leadheel

Ancestry/Background/Class:Halfling Acolyte Monk

A notable event of your past::
Slavers killed his fleeing parents. One of the Bellflowers who managed to smuggle him out left him at a monastery populated by dwarves and gnomes, leaving him a bit of a black sheep. A nervous, almost neurotic lad who is pessimistic and always puts himself down. He cringes at all perceived threats. He likes the lifestyle and aesthetic of the monastery, finding it peaceful and comforting but not the people around him as they make fun of him for being so skittish

He's was inspired to broaden his horizons after a chance encounter with a passing dwarven farmer and his two daughters, who were friendly and took a liking to the craven halfling, he decided to take their words to heart. Several visits and interactions where a rapport was reached, he decided to leave the monastery and begin a journey of self improvement.

The eldest daughter winked and said mayhap the next time they came visit, he'll come back home with them as her bodyguard. An attentive fellow like him would be welcome in the halls of the Houndshearth.

As he laughed at the idea of a scrawny halfling monk being the bodyguard of a dwarven farmer outlandish, the idea stuck. If he would take her up on that offer, he'd have to be brave enough to to defend himself before he could someone else.

A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3)::

Stop being such a coward. Gain enough self confidence to become a bodyguard his friend could count on! Discover some more about himself as a person.

A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure):

To hone his culinary skills as he believes cooking is as soothing as meditation. Improvement in his culinary skills alongside his martial training to even himself out. He could be either a cook or a bodyguard or both.

Everyone needs to eat! And nobody refuses a good meal! It felt good to feed those whose bellies need filling. If it's one thing dwarves and halfling could agree on was a hearty meal.

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly::

He decided to take his chances when he proclaimed he's going to leave the monastery to become a bodyguard, his fellow monks laughed themselves silly. Instead of cringing back to his cot like he usually would,he stuck to his resolve and decided to make good on his declaration. Much to his fellow monks surprise, he marched up to one of the visiting caravans and refused to quit until he found one willing to hear him out.

Bort, amused, decided to give the scrawny halfing monk a chance and welcomed him among his caravan. With whatever meager belongings he possessed and his robes, Killian left the monastery.

As the caravan left the monastery behind, he was surprised to see his master and his fellow monks seeing him off, even his rougher teasers.

A notable event of your past: From an early age when living in the gutter, you have to look after yourself. However, my name changed, when my mother's drunken 'boyfriend' for the night, used a bottle other than for storing drink, it's a lot more dangerous with a broken bottle. Threatening my mother and I wasn't such a good idea. Mother knew how to dispose of the evidence, and from then on I was known as Jack the Knife, or as I am now Jactknife the righter of wrongs.
A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): Money and gold, some fine clothes and some good ale, and maybe redistribute some of the wealth into the more deserving hands.
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure) Have enough money to buy a bar and maybe allow Josse, my mother to just serve drinks to drunks and nothing else.

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: Everyone needs someone who can handle themselves, the Caravan pays handsomely and he can leave behind that rather obnoxious noble with the black-eye, Sir Ranuff, is best left behind.

Got a good set here. Will leave this open for till the weekend and put a group together.

I'd like to make a submission for this. Cobb Gliroy is a character I created for an AP that didn't get picked. I still happen to think he has lots of potential to be a good character among a group of adventurers.

Without further ado, here is some information on Cobb:

Name: Cobb Gilroy

Ancestry/Background/Class: Versatile human/Lesser Scion/Fighter

A notable event of your past: The recent death of his father after a long, happy life left Cobb with little direction in life.

A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): A notable accomplishment in the cause of good that would impress his older brothers and sisters back at the homestead.

A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure): Prosperity, peace, and happiness for himself, his friends, and his family back home.

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: While his older brothers and sisters bicker over the fields, pastures, and humble manor house left by his father, Cobb remains on the outside looking in as far as the management of his father's affairs go. In the end, he has the bug for adventure, much as his father did before he settled down with his mother and built the family farm. Bort's caravan was the opportunity that came knocking, and Cobb jumped aboard.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
There is more on Cobb on his character sheet if this catches your attention. There are still some choices as far as skills and equipment that need to be made, and I will do so if it appears I may be one of the finalists for this adventure.

I have a submission.

Grazmik:

Ancestry/Background/Class: Unbreakable Goblin/Teamster/Bard
A notable event of your past: Grazmik saw a traveling troupe come through her people's lands and was fascinated by them. She stowed away with them, watching them perform from town to town for weeks before finally being found and expelled from the group. This was the beginning of her travels.
A short-term goal for your character (something that could be achieved by level 3): Earn the respect of a small group of people, enough that they see her as an entertainer/inspiration rather than just seeing her as a goblin.
A long-term goal for your character (something that would happen after or beyond the scope of one adventure) Gather enough knowledge to write a grand "history" of Golarian. Not the type with dry facts and numbers though. Something much greater and more interesting, that will truly entertain as well as . . . well it'll kind of educate at least. (Think Heroditus)

Why are you working for Bort's Caravan, or why are you traveling with him to Etran’s Folly: Grazmik needed to get out of her town more than anything. But she didn't have the money to do it on her own, so she began working in whatever way she could to earn her way through traveling. Bort's Caravan just happened to be going away from her last stop at the right time, and Bort was willing to hire her to take care of the horses (yes she is aware that most goblins hate horses-she just can't understand it).
