The town of Etran’s Folly has never had it easy. Located far from popular trade routes, it has never been more than a stopover point for merchants making their way from Elidir to Almas. Worse still, after the Goblinblood Wars, the town suffered terribly from a plague outbreak that killed almost half the population. Etran’s Folly never truly recovered. This fact led many to refer to the town as “Plaguestone”—a reference to a stone marker in town once used to safely give food to the sick and dying. Villagers left food at the stone and, in return, the sick placed coins in a hole in the stone, filling the hole with vinegar to cleanse the copper and silver of any trace of the plague. Now, many of the town’s homes and businesses are empty, their residents long dead save for a few orphans taken in by neighbors or left to fend for themselves on the fringes of the community.

You find yourself as part of Bort's caravan that travels south by southeast from Elidir, the capital of Isger, to Almas, the capital of Andoran, on a road between the Apsodell Mountains and the Five Kings range. There are faster and easier routes south, but for those seeking to avoid Cheliax, this is the safest. Bort Bargith is a dwarf trader from the Five Kings Mountains, welcome in many settlements for his fair prices and gregarious spirit, and he has been using this route for years. The caravan consists of six covered wagons, four of which are laden with supplies, trade goods, and trinkets. Bort makes his home in the lead wagon and the cabin built onto its back, while the final wagon is for passengers and the cook.
Feel free to introduce your characters and what you have been doing to keep busy while a part of the Caravan
Raurya i'Taure
Raurya is a young half-elf woman clad in plain earth-tone clothes and leathers, with tattoos across her face and down most of her left arm. Though she tries to be friendly with everyone, she's awkward in conversation around most of the caravan, and spends most of her time scouting the trail around and in front of the caravan with bow in hand. The only member of Bort's crew that she spends real time with is Glunda, who most reminds her of her home in Kyonin.
When she's not scouting or chatting with the gnome, she cares for and trains a young falcon, who she calls Eyas.
Wingate Von Celcius
The man who goes by the name of Wingate and is part of the noble Celcius house suddenly comes from inside one of the wagons accompanied by a cloud of smoke... He wasn't exactly what everyone would call a "man" as his diabolic heritage is more than obvious, he is a tiefling to those who haven't saw one he is pretty much the picture you get when you imagine a devil who has came from the hell to offer you some foul bargain, nevertheless he is in fact just an humanoid, no less mortal than anyone else.
"*Cough... Cough..!*" Coughed the alchemist as he breathes some fresh air, apparently his latest alchemical bomb didn't worked as he intended.
Once the cloud of smokes is carried away by winds we can see Wingate, he dresses like the noble that he is, perhaps a little too fancy to be traveling in this Caravan... Well, not quite, even the most elegant clothes means little if these are as stained and loose as Wingate's are, he may as well be a noble who just had a hangover but that's not the case, he always look like that.
So far he has keep to himself trying to avoid unnecessary attention but is not a secret that he can't say no to a cute face that and the fact that he tends to test his bombs and cause a little more than some noise...
Looking around he quickly spots Tamli who surely won't be happy if she finds out that the resident tiefling has just detonated a bomb inside a wagon so he wastes no time and gets back to the wagon from where he has came and starts to clean the mess he has just caused, luckily there doesn't seem to be any damage to the wagon.
Killian 'Stoutheart' Leadheel
1 person marked this as a favorite.
A cloud of smoke wafted from one of the wagons ahead, catching the halfling's attention and sending him jolting onto his feet from his kneeling position.
The monk was on full alert, concerned that a fire had started in one of the wagons. Which could spread to the rest of the caravan.
W-Whoa...!
Before he could suck in the breath to holler an alarm, he saw the fancy dressed tiefling that had joined recently poke his head out of the back of the wagon, coughing and fanning at the smoke.
What the~? His eyebrows furrowed upon his bald brow when he saw the tiefling glance around as if checking to see anyone was looking before hurriedly ducking back inside, yanking at the cloth covering the back of the wagon closed.
Bewildered,Killian stared for a moment before settling back into his kneeling position with a frown. He recalled seeing that tiefling fellow hauling around the sort of bag apothecaries would use. Clinking bottles and vials on his person.
...Wierdo.
Small even for his race at 2'11", Killian was an uncommon sight. Clean shaven from the crown of his skull to the tops of his feet, the halfing monk sat in a kneeling position atop the canopy of one of the wagons. It gave the skittish and paranoid lad some peace of mind--a great vantage point to spot any threats and so he could shout an alarm.
Watching the scenery pass by was pleasant enough to calm his neurotic mind. The shifting breeze and the steady sway of the canvas beneath him of the wagon's covering similar to a stiff cot preferable to the hard wood of the interior.
He wanted to do his part acting as a lookout while he ride along. It was the least he could do for Bort allowing him to come along after passing the monastery he'd left.
As a wry smile settled across his round, youthful features. He had left the monastery due to being the odd one out--mostly dwarves and a smattering of gnomes. All strong, sturdy, and stalwart.
And him, a foundling, tolerated but not truly belonging. Skittish, nervous, and paranoid. Smaller, weaker, and not as stout.
Hence his rather ironic moniker they'd given him--Stoutheart.
He knew he was a coward. He just wished he wasn't so scared of everything.
But here he was in defiance of his nature. Out in the world from his sheltered cloistered halls.
And a part of a caravan made up of people as varied and different as could be. Yet together in unity.
Heh. I'm one to talk.
Killian stretched as he decided it was time to see where today would lead.He slid down from the roof of the wagon to see they'd stopped in a sad excuse of a town.
...Oh.
Overhearing the chatter from the others about the slowly dying village, he shuddered. ...Plaguestone? Why would anybody wanna stop in a place with such a ominous nickname? Not like Etran's Folly sounded any better.
^Aurora^
A young Osirion woman with a kind eyes and a permanent smile. Her skin is tanned by hours in the desert sun and she wears the robes of her faith. She sits with a staff, which is topped with an Ankh with a set of wings spreading from them, across her lap and holding a reads from a prayer book to pass the time.
At least this caravan seems entertaining. She thinks to her self as she closes her book.
Looking out the front of the wagon at the puff of smoke. Well no one is screaming, so I am guessing no one is injured
Aurora listened intently at the description of this "Plaguestone" and thinking of the good she can do there. Being an orphan herself, she finds this situation especially promising in fulfilling her vow to help those in need.
"The Caravan leader has used this route for a while and knows it is a safe one." Aurora answers the halfling as she sits back down and opens her book of prayers once more. "In these times, it is better to stick to what is known."
Killian 'Stoutheart' Leadheel
At the sound of the Osirion woman's self-assured comment, Killian nearly jumped out of his skin. He stifled a squeal and flinched, jerking to face her.
O-Oh! Hail there. I'm, uh, Killian Leadheel. I come from the Ironfisted Temple we passed about a tenday ago. I don't believe I,uh,caught your name?
The skittish monk recovered from his fright to introduce himself, unsure at the unwaveringly polite smile she wore.
^Aurora^
"Killian Leadheel." She smiles brightly, "I am Aurora. Priestess of Isis. Nice to meet you." Noticing his apprehension, she looks back down at her book. "No need to fear me. Mine is a goddess of healing and family ties, not one of malice."

Bort greets all the passengers while Tamil tends to the workers. But the division is really only seen in the morning travel meetings. Otherwise everyone seems to mingle as freely as they want. The daily entertainment is Olf and Ulf dressing alike and constantly "correcting" everyone with "No, I am Olf" regardless of which one really is Olf.
During part of the trip one them spies on Windgate then causiouly asks if he has any more of "that smoke stuff." When pressed he says he has a clever idea for "Protecting the caravan." It is not hard to tell that Ulf/Olf are the team pranksters. Seems like Tamli yells at them for something every day. It is so predictable it is like a little play at times.
One evening along the trip, Bort does tell one tale of his past exploits.
In his tale of the Chilled Giant, Bort was traveling through one of the high mountain roads in the Five Kings Mountains when his caravan was captured by a fire giant. As Bort was being lowered into a kettle, he managed to trick the giant into using a rare plant called “frostbloom” in his soup, claiming it was quite spicy. When the giant tasted the broth, it froze his mouth shut, and Bort was able to escape with his entire crew during the confusion.
Wingate Von Celcius
Wingate was there during the evening, he was completely enthralled by Bort's tale and can't help but laugh like a kid.
"Serves him well! Nice one Bort!" can't help but comment the tiefling as he laughed loudly and catches the attention of the group most of them people that he haven't talked until now.
"Huh... Greetings! Where are my manners..? The name is Wingate Von Celcius, a pleasure! It's a shame but my latest alchemical studies has kept me busy these days and I rarely get out of my Wagon, but I trust me when I told you all that I'm really enjoying your company this evening. Commented and introduced himself the alchemist with as much grace as he can, but then again... He isn't the finest noble you'll see these days.
Grazmik
A small goblin wanders alongside the caravan, largely keeping company with the horses and trying to make conversation with the other handlers. She seems much more enthusiastic about the conversation than they do though. It might be the tattered clothes and scarred fiddle which looks like it was rescued from a scrap heap that puts them off. But it is more likely the tired of sharp teeth and green leathery skin that come from her goblin ancestry.
Whenever Olf and Ulf are around Grazmik laughs raucously, a high pitched squeal that is sometimes unbearable. She attends all story telling and almost seems ready to step out a few times herself, but doesn't.
As the devilish man, who she has been stealing glances at throughout the trip, begins to introduce himself, Grazmik finally steps forward, addressing him with a hesitant enthusiasm, "Hi Wingate. I'm Grazmik. I've seen you around and always wondered, how does someone who looks like you get to dress so fancy? Anyway I'm glad to meet you."

It has been three days since you left Elidir, climbing into the back of one of Bort Bargith’s wagons bound for the faraway Andoran capital of Almas. The smiling caravan master cut your travel cost to only a handful of coppers, so long as you promised to protect the wagons should any trouble arise. Fortunately, your journey through the hinterlands of Isger has been quiet, even if the ride itself has been far from comfortable.
As you broke camp this morning, Bort announced you should arrive at the town of Etran’s Folly by nightfall, and he promised a comfortable bed for the night as a reward for a long day’s travel. The caravan’s teamsters shared a chuckle between them, trading knowing glances and subtle nods, but soon enough you are on the road again, the wagon bouncing and creaking along the uneven trail.
This part of Isger is sparsely populated, consisting of small rural farms and isolated communities. It is a temperate land, with frequent light rains and the rich smell of damp earth wafting on the pleasant breeze. The trail winds its way through the lowlands, passing along streams and through small forests. The game in this area has only recently recovered after years of war drove it into hiding.
You are making your way along the ROAD
“Up ahead is Plaguestone,” Keldaran shouts from the front of the wagon. No sooner does the call fade from his lips than it is overshadowed by a series of long, mournful howls emanating from the woods to either side of the caravan. Moments later, you hear cries of panic as a pack of mangy wolves descends from the forest with teeth bared!

"Watch out! Wolves... I've never liked them..!" complained the alchemist who nonetheless jump into the battle!
sorry but before actually starting I'd like to to write Wingate's daily preparations as he heavily depends on his bombs and other alchemical items, out of his 5 reagents he crafted 1 bottled lighting and 1 quicksilver mutagen leaving him 3 unused reagents
◆Stride and ◆Stride, Wingate strides twice to the other side of the wagon and stops just in front of Aurora.
"Fear not, these beast won't hurt any of us, how foolish of them to get in our way... Oh well, luck is on my side today, I was just hoping to test my bottled lighting!" Said the devilish man as he positions himself in front of the cleric as the gentleman that he is.
◆Interact, While he has a specially designed pouch for his bombs his potions and others elixirs are not so easy to reach and so it takes him a moment to grab the quicksilver mutagen he made this morning.
Raurya i'Taure
◆Stride and ◆Interact, Raurya moves to the back of the wagon and draws her shortbow, and uses ◆Hunt Prey to focus on the nearest wolf (blue)
"I'd disagree with you under different circumstances, Master Wingate" she says, a troubled look on her face. "I find wolves better company than people, most days. These must be mad with hunger to attack a caravan this size; with any luck, they'll flee once we bloody their noses."
Edit: Sorry, I forgot to do this earlier, can I put my animal companion's token on the map?
GM Gustavef

@Raurya feel free to add a token for your animal companion. I will teak it if needed
Recall: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Raurya's suspicion of the wolves is correct. Something is provoking them, and it is just hunger, and you get a feeling that a "pack leader" is somewhere about as well, but not yet visible. One notable thing about these wolves is that they are covered in fleas and could be a bit of a problem if bit.
The wolves scatter to different targets. Taking two strides each to close on their marks.

Grazmik laughs wildly before beginning to sing, her voice surprisingly good after the squeals of laughter,
"Three mangy wolves came out to dance,
Their bellies so hungry they had to chance
But driven away
Empty, bellies must stay
They'll look back with a longing glance."
Her enthusiasm is somewhat contagious lifting up the spirits of those around her. Inspire Courage Cantrip, +1 to attack and damage for allies within 60 ft As Grazmik sings, she reaches down and pulls the whip off her belt interact to draw whip, stepping forward to help Wingate harry the wolf nearest them step.
Wingate Von Celcius
◆Stride, Wingate again walks a few steps (15ft) to position himself just in front of the blue wolf but far enough to be out of it's reach and be empowered by the goblin delightful music.
◆Interact, the mutagen was already in his hand but that's no more as he gulps it down to gain its benefits!
consumed the Quicksilver mutagen, take 2 damage
"Woah... I feel a little more weak than usual... Oh! But I'm as fast as the wind! Not a bad trade off, dear Grazmik remember me to write down this mutagen side effects for later reference!" Commented the Tiefling with the enthusiasm that you tend to see in mad scientists and their ilk...
◆Quick Bomber (Bottle Lighting), and so the alchemist throws his specially brewed formula, a certainty electrifying one!
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 24
Bomb's Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
inspire courage also boost bombs' damage right?
GM Gustavef

Inspire does add to the base damage of a bomb. So you did a total of 3 to the wolf.
Wingate Von Celcius
actually I already added the +1 so it still is 2, also the wolf is flat footed as a side effect of the bottled lighting
Raurya i'Taure
Raurya curses as the wolf's teeth sink into her arm. She takes a moment to furiously scratch at the biting fleas (◆Interact), shifts her focus to the wolf in front of her (◆Hunt Prey), and looses a pair of arrows at it point blank (◆Hunted Shot). She also scans the treeline, searching for the alpha.
"Keep your eyes open," she calls to her companions. "There's more coming, I'm sure of it!"
Fingers crossed that wolves don't have Attack of Opportunity . . .
Shortbow, First Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28, Potential Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6, Potential Crit: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Shortbow, Second Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, Potential Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, Potential Crit: 1d10 ⇒ 6
Double-checking my math here, I've got either a +1 from Bless or a +1 from Inspire Courage, but they don't stack because they're both status bonuses, right? And then the +1 to damage from Inspire Courage?
Edit: I've placed Eyas the falcon on the map, if possible I'd prefer for him to be flying above the battle until I actually command him to join in somehow, but if he needs to be in the space next to me for now then that's fine.
^Aurora^
Aurora will concentrate and extend her bless range. She will then place her hand on Raurya and mend the fresh bite wound.
"Dear, that looks bad."

Frozen with fear as he was at the sudden rush of movement and alarming sounds,Killian struggled with himself to react at what was unfolding around him.
...O-Oh no,no,no,NO~~
He watched other members of the caravan spring to action and realized he had to act. He couldn't put others at risk because he froze like a frightened deer.
G-Get it together,Killian! Fall back on your training!
Mountain Stance (Stance)
The halfing monk forced himself to enter the mountain stance, feet firmly planted and shoulders squared with knees bent. His made firm fists facing outward and angled downward.
AC gains +4, AC is 21

Grazmik
Grazmik brings her singing to an end, but it’s hard to tell exactly where her singing ends and the story she begins to tell starts. ”A long time ago, there was a dangerous wolf who could spit acid so hard it would travel down a line of people, killing each of them in turn. This is the story of how a group of brave adventurers outsmarted the monstrous she-wolf.” continue inspire courage.
As Grazmik continues on telling her story, she begins to worry, We need to stop this wolf so we can get to the other one, quick. She motions with her hand as a nearby branch comes flying off the tree that till recently held it. The branch strikes towards the wolf in front of Windgate. Cast Telekinetic Projectile

Sorry I'm having some difficulties at moving my token in the slides from my phone x.x
Killian 'Stoutheart' Leadheel
Although unconscious and dead to the world, Killian somehow cling desperately to life. He did not feel the cause of his condition jostling him with its hefty paws as it shifted in the mud made up of its acid drool and his blood.
His shallow breaths bubbled from the crisscrossing fang wounds that had been further ravaged by the scald of acid, turning his upper torso from shoulder to chest a gory mess. The tunic of his monk robes had been eaten away, hanging in soiled tatters.

Wingate Von Celcius
◆Quick Alchemy, moving his hands as fast as possible Wingate mixed some questionable alchemical reagents and extracts to create yet another bomb, this one being rather fiery, pretty befitting for a tiefling.
Crafted an alchemist fire (lesser)
◆Strike! And then throws it at the bigger Wolf hoping to put an end to the fight.

The wolf still is unphased by the dazzling blood
Raurya i'Taure
Rats. Worth a shot.
Raurya curses in pain as the big wolf drags her to the ground. She lashes out, trying to kick it away (◆Strike, with a +1 to attack from Bless but a -2 from Prone, and +1 to damage from Inspire Courage), scrambling backwards in a panic (◆Crawl) and calling to Eyas for aid (◆Command an Animal, and Eyas will ◆Stride to the big wolf and ◆Strike, with a +1 to attack and damage from Inspire Courage).
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 16, Potential Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4, Potential Crit: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Edit: I'm a dope, should've called Eyas over first so we could get flanking bonuses on those attacks. Ah well, I'll remember going forward.

Wingates bomb burns the wolf a a good chunk. Rauya dives away unable to hit the wolf from the ground, but Eyas swoops in and with one viscous peck, falls the large wolf.
The deal wolf smolders with a burning acidic stench. In the aftermath, Bort and Tamli inspect the caravan to make sure everyone is okay. When the wolves charged in, they spooked the horses pulling the wagons. While the teamsters kept them from bolting during the attack, the rear wagon was pulled several feet off the trail into the muck, making it nearly impossible to move.
Tamli discovers this problem and calls upon Olf, Ulf, and the party to find a solution.
^Aurora^
Aurora rushes up to Killian and attempts to heal his wounds. While the others regroup and attempt to get the cart out of the muck.

Once Killian is up on his feet, she returns to Raurya and attempts to patch her up as well.
treat wounds, DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Unfortunately she can not seem to get this wound closed.
Raurya i'Taure
Tamli discovers this problem and calls upon Olf, Ulf, and the party to find a solution.
Can Raurya maybe use her knowledge of nature to dry or thicken the mud to help get the wagon out? Aside from that, she's willing to lend muscle to try to push it out, but she's not great at that.
Raurya thanks Aurora for trying to help.
Wingate Von Celcius
This all happens right away or we had enough time to heal, examine the dead wolf and so on, if doing a time skip how much hp we recovered? I'm guessing that Aurora would be the best at treat wounds but Wingate can do so as well if needed to speed things up
"Mmmm... The best solution I can conceive is brewing a miraculous concoction that gives me the brute strength of a giant in order to move the wagon but... That's just impossible right now, maybe in a decade or so... Anyways, we've to get that Wagon out of there." Commented a half distracted Wingate who is looking at the dead wolves in retrospective now that these aren't trying to kill them.
Nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Trying to make out something out of the wolves with a recall knowledge, Wingate fears that more will come if they stay in the area for too long
