Questions on Elemental Body + Weapon + items + Magus

Hi,

I am considering the elemental body spell with my kensai magus and would love info about the elemental body rules.

As an elemental you can speak, therefore cast verbal component spells.
I read that you can also take a human form, allowing you to cast somatic component spells and wield weapons, is that part right ?

Also, it's written that your items melt into your new form, but only armor and shield cease to work. Does that mean that any buffing items like belts, headbands etc continue to work properly ? Does ioun stones melt too ? Does mage armor stay ?

If everything is ok so far it would play like that in combat :

- drop weapon (free)
- cast elemental body (standard action)
- pick up weapon (move action)
- 1 swift action available

Is my understanding correct ?

Your action economy sounds correct. Items do change with the elemental body. As GM, I would rule that ioun stones would remain unchanged as they are separate from the body.

Ioun stones can be implanted.

Be careful using Elemental Body I. Your weapon will not change to small size.

My bladebound kensai is not high enough level to cast Elemental Body II, so he carries a couple of scrolls for those tough situations.

You can get the resizing weapon property on your weapon to allow it to shift sizes.

There is a question whether you can complete somatic components in elemental form despite the humanoid appearance. Some GMs and devs have do not believe you can cast somatic components in those forms. You may run into table variation so I suggest talking to your GM ahead of time.

Also Ioun stones count as gear so they should merge with you when you wild shape.
