Out of the corner of his eye, Cathoris catches sight of the ruby. Can I take a look at that Helgash? he asks as he points at the ruby.

He takes it, looking over it, he detects magic and thinks he recognizes it’s purpose. I think this ruby will fit into the alter we saw. Like, they are tied together. Some sort of blessing from Torag. Any thoughts on that Straug?

"Might be worth giving it a try?" - Helgash suggests.

Straug's eyes narrow as he studies the ruby and tries to put pieces together from what he has seen so far here in these ruins, the altar, and the book.

Loot table updated, stuff for claiming.

After studying the gem for what he can deduce he heads back toward the chapel for another look at the altar.

Excellent work, I didn't realize you were so competent with that staff of yours. Impressive.

At the mention of the ruby, Alex shrugs.

Perhaps, though I'd also wager its worth more than its weight in gold as well. Something we may want to make sure returns with us.

As the group heads back to Torags Altar, Tark's head goes up and he starts sniffing the air and he brings to growl low in his throat.

Straug, Cathoris, and Thallin all go into the Altar room, while Helgash stands next to Alexander, and glances at Tark

Kronk just stands around looking big and imposing.

Straug tries to puzzle out the ruby and the alter and thinks.

religious thoughts:
placing the ruby in the concave slot in the altar will have a good effect, but it usually is best for all the 'worshippers' to be present at once to receive the blessing. He can see the Hammer of Torag etched on the flat side of the ruby.

Stepping carefully around the dank water, Mad Marvin suddenly looks up and into the crumbling collapsed wall to the Library of the Monastery.

Oi lads gather round this thing when I slot this ruby. I'm anxious to receive Torag's blessing. I think we're gonna need it.

Straug looks at the altar as the group gathers around, Tark growling toward the door in the background. He mutters quietly but still audible to the group.

He then carefully places the ruby in the slot.

Stepping carefully about the rubble on the ground, the odd-looking Dwarf enters the Altar room; his eyes locked on the treacherous rocks, stones, pebbles and banana peels.

Kronk looked at Thallin and Cathoris, as he held the sledge hammer in his hands. The Big Man was easily a 6 inches taller than everyone else and held the sledge in a hand that could engulf anyones head. That he was a cook, was amazing to anyone who knew this gentle soul.

What does Mad Marvin know about this place?

The sounds of rocks being moved is heard from outside the Altar chamber. The sound of swearing, arguing, yelling is heard echoing back into the Altar chamber from the Hall. The silence that quickly followed was sudden with a seemingly finality to it.

Reentering the Altar chamber, the dwarf (who looks like he lost an argument) strides up to the Torag Altar, places a dirty hand on it, and speaks a prayer in dwarven to Torag.

"He seems to have lost his sanity..." - Helgash comments to the others, bow still at the ready - "He said he needed a broom?"

The strange dwarf walks around and then comes back to the altar and looks at it and examines it.

Marvin:
The Altar of Torag has been defaced by followers of Droskar. However there is residual magic held in the alter. On either side of the Anvil thaat stands upon the altar, a concave cavity as been cut into the stone, with a small symbol of a hammer etched upon the stone. He can see Straug has a ruby that would fit into the concave, and the ruby has the symbol of a hammer cut from its top. The Ruby looks like it would fit into the cavity so the altar was flush when it was inset. It appears that Torag would bless the room with healing if the the ruby was placed within...but hes sure that would end any residual magic left.

Straug has been watching Mad Marvin from the time he entered the room. While obviously kin Straug hasnt been around many dwarves his whole life much less adventured with one. Despite that he knows that his behavior is a bit strange though he seems friendly enough.

For now... He thinks to himself.

Alright boy-o I'll wait on using this gem in the altar for when we're a bit more stabbed up. The rest of you hurry and catch up with me. Get a few knots on yer heads and scrapes on your knees, though I got a feeling this place holds more surprises that would be more than willing to oblige.

Straug secures the gem and walks back through the chapel.

Down this hall then? Well lets see what horrifying surprises wait for us there eh?

Door 2, then? Cathoris asks. However, he doesn’t wait for a response before opening up the door. And here we have…

another room.

As Cathoris opens the other door, he hears a low growl inside the room, but his sight doesnt show anything. Tark, near Helgash, spins and growls , the hair on his back standing up.

Mad Marvin Dundlerock peers down closely at the suspiciously placed bolts low on the flooring of this room.
Cast Detect Magic
Spellcraft (Int): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

The Dwarf studies it for exactly as long as it takes not to know anything of use.
He does frown at the rumbles still strewn about.
Still be need'n un broom!

At the sound of Tark's growling (along with his being left alone in the room), Mad Marvin decides to be group friendly and joins them.
So now we be go'n in da otter room.

Shaking his oddly tilted helmeted head, as he marches from the Bolts room to the Growling room.
Way be da problem in 'ere!

Marvin viewed the 4 bolts through his ability to detect magical auras and indeed all 4 were magical.

DC16:
4 +1 flaming burst crossbow bolts

Marvin moved around the corner into the room and saw as he entered a small study that looks like it has been lived inrecently. Gnawed bones litter the floor and tufts of gray fur can be seen here and there. An old stone desk sits at the center of the chamber, scratched and cracked in many places. The stench of wet fur hangs heavy in the air. to the left an open doorway leads into another chamber and Marvin see's two wolves. 1 in the doorway to the other chamber and 1 standing up behind the stone desk.

A very deep voice says It took you long enough to reach my chamber. What brings adventurers to the home of Graypelt
