Meg drops orange with an AoO and though she closes with pink, she can’t drop two in one round. Kizzy pens in the goblin, but cannot quite land a solid blow with all the wagon bits in the way. Izomandakus moves his mighty steed even as Pachemu leaps onto the platform (‘cause why not) and dives into the goblin. Kast moves into position to threaten the warchanter, setting up a flank for Seamus rushes forward and slams his sword into the warchanter, who takes the blow heavily to the ribs.

Pink runs under the wagon, setting it alight with his torch, leaving it behind to help the burn. He then rushes (if he lives) toward the bucket brigade. He provokes from Meg and Kizzy as he does so.

Purple uses his dogslicer on Pachemu even as he tries to pick up the torch next to her.
purple dogslicer on Pachemu: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Though their voices are dimming, you can still, just, catch another refrain from the goblin warchanters still alive (and not running away)…
”Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be Goblins! You be Food!”

Your warchanter continues to run west, toward the edge of town. If not stopped (and he’ll be hard to catch due to the crowds which he can duck around, through, and under) he’ll likely try to retreat via junk beach.

Round 5, Init 2

Kast seems surprised when Seamus comes up and cracks the warchanter. Kast looks confused, as if he'd never considered that Seamus would fight, let alone could fight.

He tries to remember the first and last times he's seen Seamus with a greatsword. But no matter...there are goblins afoot.

:limp, drag, limp:

Kast stoutly pursues the warchanter, wishing again that he had greater speed.

C'mon, Kast!

"No!" Izomandakus looks horrified when the goblin nearly disembowels his pig friend.

Seeing the goblins have left the Cathedral be, Izomandakus stops concentrating in his magic and the horse disappears in a vortex of flames "Pachemu, out of here, now! Leave the goblin to the strong ladies" then he realizes one of the goblins putting the wagon in font in fire "Buggers!"

Focusing his magic on the torch, he lifts it slowly making it float out of the wagon, and letting it fall into the earthy ground.
A common torch seems to be 1 lbs
He then looks for his crossbow, Varisia is a frontier land "Aneka was right about never leaving home unarmed"

Despite his grievous wounds Pachemu rejects to abide by Izomandakus orders. Seeing the golden woman climb to the dais, the pig attacks the green creature biting it hungrily and leaving a flank open "Ooiiiiiink!"

Meg misses with her AoO, but leaps up onto the platform, with a second wind. Kizzy slashes at the remaining goblin, dropping him where he stood. Izomandakus stops another fire from forming as Pachemu bites at the goblin on his way down. Kast double moves toward the warchanter, trying to keep the pressure on. Seamus double moves to try and catch the warchanter.

Father Zantus has a good bucket line going, and he’s at the front of the line now, casting Create Water on the hotspots further in - harder to reach by bucket, at least for now. The fire seems controlled, though not yet out. The church seems to be OK, if a little singed.

You can chase down the single fleeing goblin, or head north, toward the half dozen or so you saw moving that way - toward the White Deer (which has a lot of glass windows). If you chose to head north, we’re out of initiative. If you chose to chase the warchanter, we’ll step back to the chase rules and are also out of initiative.

In that case please start off by making an Acrobatics check DC 13 or Escape Artist DC 10 (-2 on the roll for folks moving at 20’). Oh, and of course we can always split the party. I love splitting the party… rubs hands together gleefully

Meg's heart beats fast and she pauses to catch her breath. Even if she hates the feeling of hurting another living creature, the exhiliration of the battle itself is invigorating. She has always held so much energy in-check, only letting it out for her parties, so finally letting it out when--mostly--sober has felt so freeing.

She looks south towards the fleeing warchanter, then north again as she remembers the glass-breakers. One goblin already on the run or a whole cadre of them chomping at the bit. The choice is obvious. "The other goblins are up by the White Deer! I'm going to drive them away. Who is with me?"

It's complicated Human with a level 16 pig | Character Sheet | (Completed Rise of the Runelords)

Izomandakus kneels and checks Pachemu's wound is not deadly "Stubborn pig, why did you not run away?"

Picking a bolt he loads it into the heavy crossbow "Hey guys! I spot a trope of goblins heading north to the White Deer. I fear they might be trying to open the entrance gates to let the whole tribe in"

"I am with you Meg!" the next round Izomandakus casts mage armor and descends the dais heading north.

Kizzy nods and moves to follow, "Someone's got to keep you three out of trouble."

Turning to the small child, she puts on the scowl that comes so naturally to her. "Where is your mother, kid? Run to her now, while it's safe. Go on!" Keeping an eye on the kid until safely in the hands of an adult, she cups her hands around her mouth and bellows in the direction of the half-elf and the watchman. "More near the White Deer! Heading there now!"

Seeing the goblin turn, making an obscene gesture at them, then run into the crowd. "Blast! The little bugger is in the crowd!" Seamus turns to Kast, sheathing his shortsword. "We may never catch him."

Hearing Meg and Izomandakus call about more goblins, he looks to where he left his hat and the afternoons earnings, giving a sigh. Turning back to Kast. "Isomandakus said Goblins may be opening the northern gate."

He nods the direction the goblin fled. "What if it's trying to distract us and the real fight is up near the White Deer?"

Following along to where the action is.

Not able to tell if the goblin headed down Tower Street or High Street, Seamus turns and looks towards where he left his grey floppy wool hat. Shrugging he walks with Kast, across the square and up Church Street, following the others.

Using his left elbow he nudges his lute back behind him and still palming a dagger in his left hand, he draws his shortsword again in his right. Smiling "If I'd known were were gonna have a fight, I'd have left the lute at the 'kitten'"

The party rushes to the north to encounter Sherriff Hemlock breathing hard with two of the watch, all sporting a few injuries. They’ve just mopped up the Breakbag Goblins as you arrive. He sees you with goblin blood on you and shouts out, particularly Kast, ”Good job, is this lot with you?” not waiting for an answer he continues, ”Good! Head to the north gate and see if you can stop any more from getting in. I heard there was a cluster in the Market Square, which is where I’m headed. Hold until you’re relieved!”

And with that the big man is off, running with his assistants to the south at a brisk pace. What do you do?

It's complicated Human with a level 16 pig | Character Sheet | (Completed Rise of the Runelords)

Izomandakus looks at the Sheriff with respect, and a bit of concerned the guard seems being overwhelmed. He looks at his new friends and at Pachemu also half-opened by the dogslicers.

Pachemu nods to the boy and the boy nods too.

Resolved he exclaims "Ei Kast! If they do come, you cannot hold the gates alone. Let me help" he raises the heavy crossbow showing it is loaded and ready.

Kast looks around to see which 'lot' he was talking about, at least knowing Seamus and Izo as locals.

"Yeah, sure," Kast says with more certainty than he feels. "I'll hold the North Gate or die trying." Kast emphasizes the point by driving his spear's butt into the ground.

Kast takes off at a brisk pace, not expecting others to follow (as they are not part of the Watch), but not minding if they come.

'Crap, the sheriff!' Palming his dagger and holding the shortsword behind his leg, Seamus steps slightly behind Kast as Hemlock congratulates him. 'That would make quite a song.' Smiling as Kast says he'll hold the gate or die trying he hears Izomandakus chime in. Nodding his head, Seamus agrees, "Gotta protect Sandpoint, right?"

Qetsiyah nods and follows along, keeping pace with the others. Overhearing the question Seamus asks Izomandakus, she barks a sardonic laugh. "Oh sure, now he wants donations." She sticks her tongue out at the half-elf to show she is teasing and fishes a sling and bullets from her pocket and holds it out. "You can borrow this if you want. I do better with my sword."

Clearing her throat, she says, "Hey, thanks for helping out that kid. I'm not so fast in this get-up." She says with a heavy shrug in her scale armor.

He hears to all that comes afterwards and nods agreeing with Kizzy "Yes, you totally saved that little boy's life Seamus. You are brave and resolute. Thanks a lot!" then looking the half-elf up-down he answers to his question "I do not have another one, but if you can guaranty to safely return it, I can offer you a leasing of this one at a gold piece per hour"

Then he rethinks his words "Mmmm... well, you are friend. Price for friends is only a silver piece per hour"

'donations?' Turning toward Kizzy as she sticks her tongue out, he smiles and shrugs, "I wouldn't keep it, only borrow it to shoot goblins from a distance where it's safe."

Seeing her sling, Seamus pauses for a moment, tucking the dagger in his bandolier and sheathing the shortsword. Accepting the sling, he twirls it a couple of times. "Gods, I haven't used one of these in ages." Reaching out for the bullets, "I think I can make it work."

'Thanks?' He crinkle his brow a little, looking at Izomandakus as he chimes in. "Sure." Shrugging, looking back at Kizzy, "What was I supposed to do, let the little bugger gut him?" He smiles, "Besides, the little guy was throwing rocks, he remind me of ...well... me."

Hearing Isomandakus' logic about crossbow rent, Seamus raises an eyebrow. "An hour? You have a deal." He smiles reaching out for the bow. Then drawing his hand back. "Of course I'm only going to pay you for the time I squeeze the trigger. So ten quarrels you'll make about half a copper." Lifting the sling, "Never mind, I'll stick to this, It's not costing me anything."

Calling over to Kast, he twirls the sling again. "Hey General, once we get to the gate what do you want us to do?"

Kast swirls around, ready to salute the General that he wasn't sure that Sandpoint had. He spins around again and eventually figures out that Seamus was speaking to him.

"Oh, I'm not a general. Just a member of the watch. Most small towns in Varisia have small municipal officers, like Sheriff, that are elected by..." Kast begins to correct and explain things to Seamus, but realizes that now may not be the time for a history lesson.

"There isn't time to explain that now. We need to get into position..." Kast looks around and tries to figure out how to best defend the North Gate.

I think we'll need a map, but more likely, the poop is hitting the fan as we arrive.

"Thank you so much for protecting that child. I...I truly appreciate it. I do not know what I would have done if something had happened before I noticed."

She pulls back and follows after Kast, her sword at the ready. "By the way, everyone, should you see me staring rather intently at a particular enemy, I suggest attacking that one. Physically or mentally. I have a certain effect on people. You will see what I mean."

As you head north, you hear the sounds of a man, wailing for help! Just east of the White Deer, near Sandpoint’s north gate, a goblin commando mounted on a goblin dog has bravely attacked a man, noble from the looks of him, and his hunting dog. Here’s the man in better times (image).

You arrive just in time to see the goblin commando drop the dog with his horsechopper (image). The dog crashes dying to the ground as the commando’s goblin kin (who were themselves cowering nearby as the dog was handled) throw up a cheer and emerge from hiding. The goblins do not notice your advance, and are considered flat footed to you until their initiative. This is however a full round, not a surprise round.

First up Seamus and Kast!

Note on the map I’m using a new sigil, the little horse head. That’s there to indicate that the individual is mounted. In this case on a goblin dog.

You do recognize him! He’s been to one or two of your parties, invited by one of the local magistrates if you remember correctly. He’s a minor noble from Magnimar, originally Korvosa if you remember correctly. Though handsome, he didn’t leave much of an impression on you at the time. You know his family name, Foxglove, but don’t recall his first name (even though I’m plastering it all over the place). ;)

Realizing who he was, she cleared her throat and addressed him formally, which she found was usually best with nobles until you knew them well. She wasn't really sure what he was so impressed by, she'd not even been able to deflect one attack against her teammates with all the zipping around.
"Ah yes, honor to serve, m'lord. I'm a Caravan Guard by trade, learned swordplay with the help of a skilled mentor." She tried to be succinct as the Sister who trained her had always been dodgy about her past and kept her head down when they came to bigger cities. Qetsiyah did not know what she was hiding from, though.

"Are you well enough to seek shelter, m'lord? Burns can be bad if not treated." She pointed out as she was looking around to see if any bands of goblins still harried the town.

As Seamus handed her back the sling, she noticed he seemed to be in shock.
"Alright there, Seamus?" She asked, "Maybe you'd better lead us to the healer." She said and winced as she took a step on her wounded leg.

Kast does not chase the goblin, mostly because Seamus had well kilt it, but also because he was not a good chaser. Instead, he circles around with his magic (temporarily) longspear looking for more foes. He does not relax until he is certain no more foes are near to approaching. He, himself, as a good gash on his left leg that seems to have stopped bleeding.

"Yes, Kitty, you should go," Kast agrees with Kizzy, but not getting her name perfect. "I can heal some wounds, but if you cannot fight or do not wish my help, you should go. I will hold this gate as ordered."

Kast looks ready to meet any additional attackers, but eventually relaxes enough to survey the environment, his eyes falling to Foxgloves dog. He limps closer and tries to save the brave pupper.

"Honored Irori, help me make this dog perfect, even as you are perfect in every way," Kast lifts a symbol from around his neck and presses it into his hand. Cast Stabilize on the pupper.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Foxglove. You might find succor closer to the center of town, but here there might be more attacks." Kast looks with sadness upon Foxglove's dog, who may or may not be dead-dead.
