"With ghosts, you typically need to put the spirit to rest somehow. This spirit seemed to be more an echo of some caster's strong emotions.

While evocation might disrupt the effect, I don't know that it would be useful in removing the emotional impression. I've never seen anything like this before though. I suggest we just avoid that chamber and move on with our search."

He motions through the door to the south, hoping someone better trained in locating traps will take up the exploration.

Elanna doesn’t find any traps as she leads the way. Listening at the door halfway down the hall, she can hear many snarls and growls from the other side. It sounds like several fleshdregs are in the adjoining room!

Once Ela declares the next room safe, she moves on and readies to open the door beyond. "Trouble ahead. Everyone ready?"

Opening the door, she steps in with her rapier ready to stab some fleshdregs.


Any furniture that might have once been in this rough hewn room has been removed, making room for the four fleshdregs that now inhabit it. They snarl and shamble forward to attack!

While a few days ago a batch of fleshdregs might have been a formidable fight, your power has grown significantly since then. With blasts of force and deadly slashes and strikes, you dispatch the twisted monsters without breaking a sweat!

Returning to the main hall, you continue around the corner. The walls of this wide hall are carved with dense inscriptions. A door opens in the north wall, but to the south, the inscriptions converge into a spiraling pattern that periodically flashes with pulsations of glowing orange energy.

Thassilonian:
The runes on the walls here are words of adoration and submission to Runelord Alaznist, as well as indications that a powerful siege weapon called a Hellstorm Flume once existed above the complex.

Knowledge (arcana or planes) or Spellcraft DC 20:
The spiraling runes are part of a magical portal that currently only functions one-way. Creatures can arrive here from somewhere else, but they can’t use the portal to exit the area. While this portal cannot be destroyed or closed from this side without powerful magic (antimagic will close the portal from this side, as will an effect like mage’s disjunction, miracle, or wish), its malfunctioning nature suggests that the hub at the far side is damaged and likely susceptible to destruction. The runes indicate that the portal connnects to a region in Hollow Mountain known as the "Forges of Wrath."

"Oddly, that bit of seemingly useless information has a ring of something of great importance. We should take note and consider that information in the future."

Shaking his head and wondering why he just said that, Screaming Moon waves toward the northern doors. "I can't say that I would want to go through that portal anyways, so I am glad it is broken. Perhaps we should go through these doors instead?"


The door opens onto a luxurious suite that has seen better days. Though outfitted with draping curtains and tapestries of immense battles, the smell of spoiled food and animal musk fouls the air.

A hulking sinspawn is here, clad in chainmail and gripping a glowing red halberd. A pair of fleshdregs accompany him. The sinpsawn's mouth twitches as he gathers as much sincerity as he can and addresses you in a rasping voice.

"Welcome. I am Mozamer. On your way down here to stop me, you ended up killing many. You show your wrath well. Perhaps you have a place at my Lady's side? Join me, and we'll take this town in a direction those other fools would never have been capable of. Alaznist will be pleased to see you help me raise an army before she takes back what she has lost."

Hope looked at the doorway and felt a shiver of relief that it was already broken. She vaguely recalled something about the place and didn't have any interest in going there. As they continued on and found the Sinspawn who tried to, not effectively, turn them to his side Hope was not pleased.

Hope didn't hesitate after the ugly guy started talking. She pulled in a batch of gravity, the dust around seeming to pull towards her, and just as he finished speaking and his offer was rejected, unleashed it at the fleshdreg who didn't bite Triel.

The twins both stab the same fleshdreg, taking it down. Fio steps up and tries to shock the second one but misses it. Triel and Vindir take down the other fleshdreg. Hope’s blast comes up just short of punching through Mozamer’s armor. Screaming Moon’s spell has no effect on the sinspawn, while Ruby Meadow misses badly.

Mozamer brings his halberd to bear. Ruby parries his first swing, but his second tears into the Shoanti. Then he lunges forward to bite her, and the warrior woman falls!

Hope was getting mad at her inability to hit this monster, even worse the others seemed to be having problems too. She thought they needed a new way to take it down and looked quickly around the room to see if she could find a way to do just that.

I am looking to see what the floor and ceiling are made of. Is it possible to damage one to make either the roof fall on him or the floor give out under him?
