Welcome adventures. This is my first time playing as a GM, so feel free to use this Discussion thread to provide feedback, ask questions and most out of character conversations.
Some things to know about this Adventure Path thread:
1. I intend to play this thread through all six modules and reach its final conclusion.
2. Don't worry if you make a mistake. If you want to retcon something, just add a post here in this thread and hopefully we can come to a resolution that satisfies everyone. I do not care as much about the technical playing of the game as I do that everyone has a good time playing. Your enjoyment is my number one priority.
3. I am not going to worry about XP. I am planning on using the Adventure Path modules as a guide on when your characters will level up.
4. You can help me out a lot my formatting your character profile's Classes/Levels line as follows:
<class>/<level>| HP <current>/<max> | AC <normal>/<touch>/flat-footed> | F+<fort>/R+<reflex>/W+<will> | Init+<initbonus> | Perc+<perceptionbonus>
5. You don't have to worry about things that will affect your combat rolls like Cover, Shooting into melee, etc. Just post your dice rolls with whatever bonuses you currently have. I will let you know if your attack/spell/etc hits/is effective/etc.
6. I am very active when checking posts; however, in combat where multiple characters may go between enemies I do not care about maintaining the initiative order. If a player posts something out of initiative order, that is OK. I will resolve all the actions at the end of each round and let you know the results. In some cases, your actions may not have impacted the final result (i.e. you posted something before another party member and that party member's action resulted in the end of combat). If your action resulted in the loss of a spell/item/etc. I will post that your action was not necessary and the spell/item/etc was not cast/used/done unless it provides the party some benefit that you desire to happen.
7. Feel free to ask questions about anything. I will do my best to answer whatever you are interested in/concerned about. I started playing D&D from the starters box in 1977 and have been playing Pathfinder since around 2011.
8. Finally can everyone post their timezones. It would help everyone's expectations on when to expect your posts.

Thank you, GM_Corwyn
This is very exciting! As, I am also embarking on my initial GMing a PbP; may I say, thank you!
I am a big fan of this APs Theme. This will be my first Magus also. Should be interesting.
I am in Michigan. So, Eastern Standard Time here.

As the group is ready to start their journey into the Brinestump Marsh, I need to know the formation the party intends to keep while traveling. I will use this formation as your starting positions should combat arise. You can always post here in the Discussion thread if you wish to change the formation in case events occur that precipitate the change. I will accept a two wide formation as well as a single file formation.
Another possibility to speed up play during combat. Each of you may specify a default action for your character to take if you are unable to post during combat for 24 hours. If you specify a default action and 24 hours have passed since the current combat round has started, I will execute the specified default action during your turn. The action can be as simple or as complicated as you like. If you choose to partake of this option, please post your default action here in the Discussion thread. You may update your action as often as you wish. If you don't want to specify a default action, please post that here as well so that everyone knows that you want to post in the Gameplay thread each time.
If you intend for your character to be passively doing something, you may also post that here (i.e. like detecting magic, searching for traps, etc.). I prefer to let the characters roll for their characters as often as possible, but you may specify that your character is "Taking a 10" while passively doing something. "Taking a 20" will require a post in the Gameplay thread.
If you want the GM to do anything else on your behalf due to inability to post, you may also specify that here.
Thanks.
Kwai Chang Caine.
Caine would prefer to be in front row; or second row, please.
Also, I am usually active here; but things do occur. I shall think of a default combat action....
Ashlana Moran
Ashlana will stay in the back, she is a fragile caster.
I'm also normally active but if it comes up, I think a safe bet will be a combo Misfortune Hex and Cackle Hex on any targets in range and still susceptible.
She will also cast Detect Magic regularly as they travel.
Hattori Aiko
Aiko will switch hit between going to the front when something unusual appears (in case it's a trap) or staying in the midrange (behind the fighters).

Will Caine be leading or riding his donkey Oscar?
Same question for Beastbrother and his horse Tunalin.
I would think Beastbrother would be riding, but I want to give the characters a chance to specify.
Just waiting on Adrian's feedback on location and I will post the start of the travel down the Lost Coast Road.

Ok, so if I have this right, a single column formation will be:
1. Beastbrother (riding Tunalin)
2. Adrian Liu
3. Hattori Aiko
4. Zaraleva
5. Ashlana Moran
6. Kwai Chang Caine (leading Oscar)
The two by three formation will be:
Front row: Beastbrother and Adrian Liu
Middle row: Hattori Aiko and Zaraleva
Back row: Ashlana Moran and Kwai Chang Caine
Let me know if anyone wants to swap positions.
As far as default actions, Ashlana will use detect magic during exploration activities and Misfortune/Cackle during combat.
Kwai Chang Caine.
Caine's default combat action: Defend Zaraleva and Ashlana by taking AoOs, allowing them to leave Hostile squares.
Exploration mode: Search or Scout (PF2E)
Kwai Chang Caine.
Caine would like to purchase from the passing caravan:
sunrod x5 cost 10gp
Wine
Source Ultimate Equipment pg. 95, PRPG Core Rulebook pg. 159
Price PFS Legal 2 sp (common, pitcher), PFS Legal 10 gp (fine, bottle); Weight 6 lbs. (common, pitcher), 1-1/2 lbs. (fine, bottle)
Description
Wine is made from fermented fruit juice, usually grapes, but also sometimes berries, apples, or even rice (sake). The lower listed price is for unremarkable common wine and the higher is for significantly finer wine, though wine from certain vintners (and specific years) may fetch much higher prices. In colder climates, wine is often mulled with fruit, spices, honey, and almonds and served as a warming beverage during the winter.
Hattori Aiko
Since there are six of us but Beastbro only found food for five, I’ve knocked a day’s rations off of my inventory.
Kwai Chang Caine.
I understand the reasons for that; I also think that we should confront him.
Then I play that scene out in my head; and I cannot come up with enough concrete evidence for doing so. I--the player--think this.
Caine does not. He is affable. He believes people deserve the benefit of the doubt. Caine does not necessarily believe his goblin ambush story; but he also doe not want to wrongfully accuse him (in his home; in his swamp; in his world) of lying to us. Us that are complete strangers to him. Caine does want to investigate this further, but discretely.
I--the player--have a really good idea what is happening, but I have years of gaming experience to draw on; whereas, Caine is only 1st level...lol.
Ashlana Moran
There's definitely a weird player/character separation of knowledge here. Ashlana definitely wouldn't feel comfortable confronting him on a hunch and an indeterminate magical aura (oof that 3).
Her perception is nothing but she could team up with someone for first watch and keep Detect Magic going to see if the aura in his house moves if the party wants to keep an eye on him still.
Hattori Aiko
I could always ninja back in and see if I can spot whatever is generating the magical aura.
I'm in the same spot as Caine's player here, I as a player am trained to find this situation suspicious and to believe that the adventure may have been written to put something here, but it's hard to justify it in-character.

Ok, for things like this - wanting to do something before your post action - here is my ruling.
I will allow you to ask for an action to occur prior to something you posted. This kind of request may be made only one time per character until they level up.
So, Zaraleva, you may have cast Protection from Evil before knocking. However, you may not make another request like this until your character's level increases to level 2. Who would you like to cast the Protection from Evil on? Yourself? Caine? or someone else?
This request may only be done when the request is reasonable. Something your character would normally do but simply forgot to include in a post. Does this sound fair?

Yeah, I wasn't expecting you to post the knock on the door so fast. <g> I wanted to make sure my noble teammates were with me and then I was going to cast before I knocked. I'm still waiting to hear who went in besides Z and Caine.
Yes, that's fair.Casting on herself.

Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't read your post right. That one is my fault. I need to give people more time to post.

In case Beastbrother goes while I'm asleep or we give up and move ahead, here is Z's turn:
Swing if it's still alive
Scimitar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Edit:Swing wildly at nothing...Come on Sarenrae, why do you do this to me?
Search it and try to identify it if it's knocked out.
