Miss Canella |
Miss Canella walks over to Eunice and looks at him.
Let's go outside to get some fresh air and talk.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Commandant Lassard |
Eunice flushes a bit being addressed by the Officials. The youth follows the Agents from the shop, apologizing to the owner as he is lead away.
Eunice and his master Kemeneles came to the city two weeks ago for the Radiant Festival. Upon arrival, the two split up to run errands, but Kemeneles never returned to their appointed meeting spot.
Commandant Lassard |
I can expand upon that written text tomorrow after work. Currently, gaming my weekly PFS game.
Commandant Lassard |
Watanabe gives her an eyeball that seems to say, not the time. Satisfied that there is no trickery, and sold by her greed, he mentally crosses Marin off the list of suspects in a potential missing persons case.
He says to Eunice rather harshly, "Can you provide a description? We will notify our station and if any of the watch members see him we can notify you. Where are you staying? Can you tell us again where you were supposed to meet him? And what business he was on before you parted?"
Eunice meekly follows the Agents of Edgewatch away from the angry Mage's Wizard Shoppe. He looks at Watanabe.
Master Kemeneles is an older gentleman. He dresses like a wizard would...His eyes scan the Agent.
Kinda like you actually. He was supposed to look for a place. Everything has been booked up because of the Festival. We were supposed to meet up in the markets days ago.
He looks around hopefully.
Watanabe Ren |
Watanabe writes down the description, "Have you been living on the streets since then child?" He turns to his fellow guards, "What should we do with him? We can't have loose children wandering the streets unsupervised. I have my doubts about being able to locate Master Kemeneles, but we should at least check the markets and see if anyone saw him."
Would the markets be on the way to our second job?
Father Emmett Slade |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Young Eunice, if you’d like, my church would be able to feed and and shelter you until we can find your master. There will be simple chores, like moving executed corpses to the landfill for burning. I know it sounds like hard work, but we’ve already begun “disasssembling” the head from the body for lighter lifting.
Father Slade kindly smiles and winks.
If there are no other clues here, then I would like to continue patrolling and Gather Information on the Master along the way IF our patrol takes us to the markets as Watanabe recommends.
Diplomacy; Gather Information: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Commandant Lassard |
Having successfully interceded in the confrontation between a young Eunice and an understanding--although frustrated--shop keeper, our Agents decide to head through the Market in the Precipice Quarter to follow up on the youth's concerns on their way to the
heated shop owners dispute on the other side.
Market
A crowd of fairgoers stands watching in awe as, just beyond a line of guard ropes, a stone castle—complete with battlements and domed
towers—marches along a wide, elliptical stone track. Dozens of thick mechanical legs support its bulk, and nobles in fine dresses
and coats wave from atop its walls. Suddenly, a commotion erupts from the crowd. A woman races out holding a dagger and a belt pouch. Behind her, a red-faced man points and yells, “Thief! Stop her!”

Watanabe Ren |
No combat map?
Watanabe strides closer, if needed, to try to get within 30ft. Then he flicks his hand towards the thief while speaking word of power, "Tanglefoot!" A small sticky vine is conjured and speeds towards his intended target.
Tanglefoot DC 17
Commandant Lassard |
Forgot to move the stupid ribbon...fix!
@Ren Looks like you need a spell attack roll; there is no save.
Faktar |
Faktar strides twice and calls out a dire warning to the thief.

MUGGING AT THE WALKING CASTLE
The Thief looks up at the Agents in front of her in surprise. She looks as if she may make a break for it; but, unfortunately for her, she must of stepped in some gum. Her movements seems to be quite awkward; as if, she were wading through sticky foliage!
Good hit, Ren!
The Thief snares at our White-scale's attempt to cease and desist. Instead, she snares back at Faktar in return!

and then....everyone of our Agents--save a perceptive Father Emmett--actually fall for it!
So, she attempts to Sneak away....Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
She disappears from our brave, brave Agents!
Everyone else up! Only Father Emmett actually seen which way she went...
Faktar |
So am I seeing this correctly that the thief moved 35 feet with their sneak action (there was one 5ft square between the thief and Faktar after he moved). Sneak allows one to move at half their normal speed, so that's 70 ft. And they're at -10ft to that speed because of Tanglefoot, so their basic move speed is 80 feet per action? (Not considering any feat-related exceptions)
Commandant Lassard |
She took 2 Stealth Actions which after the -10 penalty by our fancy wizard; she moved 15' per Action. She does have some behind the curtain stuff too...
Ono. |
Ono sprints to the intersection at an incredible pace, then scans the area for the thief who couldn’t have just vanished.
35 ft movement ftw; if we have an idea of the direction because a party member calls it out, look that way, otherwise a random 1d3 for the cone (N1,E2,S3)
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Miss Canella |
Miss Canella not knowing where the thief went; she just moved forward 75ft.
Commandant Lassard |
Will our Father Emmett use a Point Out Action...?
Both our Catfolk and speedy Elf rush forward to where they seen the thief prior to being embarrassingly fooled by her deception. Ono scans both directions of the intersection; but he doesn't (quite) notice her...
Father Emmett; Round 2: Faktar, Ren are up!
Father Emmett Slade |
There she goes...over there... in that one spot! Get her!
Father Slade uses the Point Out action. Please move me 50 feet towards her as my 2nd action.
Watanabe Ren |
Faktar |
Faktar moves and then attempts to tumble through the thief's square.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 I'm guessing that's going to be a no, if by chance it does succeed, he'll continue through her square to the other side of her.
Regardless of the outcome, he'll attempt to trip her.

Commandant Lassard |
Watanabe Ren calmly takes at some sand. The Wizard calmly tosses it in the thief's direction. He calmly speaks the arcane words!
Thief Will DC 17: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
The thief's eyes water a bit from the stinging sands; but she sneers at our Agents!
Her turn once Faktar retcon's because we still need a Seek Action to spot her; since she is Hidden from him at this time. Technically, Ren would need one also; but I figure 5' burst so...
DC 18 Faktar for Perception to see her.
Faktar |
Hidden means we know what square she's in, due to the Point Out, right? Does she still have Cover to hide behind once I'm right next to her? Let's say either way I just move into the square I'm in now. If I don't see her, here's a perception check as my last action. If I don't need one, I already rolled my trip.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Either way, I'm next to her, I see her, and she's not tripped.

The thief appears to be surprised when Faktar easily spots her behind the cart. With a stern look and a...

Everyone else up for Round 2. Faktar and Ren may post Round 3.
Faktar |
She demoralized me last turn, which admittedly I did forget to include in my actions but it wouldn't have changed anything. But that would also typically mean I'm immune to any more of her attempts for 10 minutes, again barring any other rules loopholes she may have.
Commandant Lassard |
The thief feels as if her good day has suddenly turned blue!
Oops! Carry on; nothing to see here. Players up!
Miss Canella |
Miss Canella strides twice and blocks her.
Get into a flank Faktar!
Miss Canella attempts to stick her with her rapier.

Father Emmett Slade |
Not wanting to miss this opportunity to bring this thief to justice, Father Emmett runs toward his adversary drawing his hand crossbow.
2 Actions to move 50 feet. One Action to draw.
Commandant Lassard |
MIss Canalla stomps over to the thief. The Catfolk then smiles; as she offers up the pointy end of her rapier!
Although, her aim is a bit off; Miss Canella's thrust does afford our Ono to capitalize on the thief's distraction! His beanbag arrow thumps the thief in the head...in...in...the...the...head!
Nice!
Watanabe Ren smoothly skates a bit closer. The ever-patient wizard then demostrates how much restraint the Agents of Edgewatch have for her!

Yuppers. I am about to clean up Round 3....you won't need it...lol.
Father Emmett (a bit of huffing and puffing) shakily aims his crossbow at the retreating thief. Unfortunately, a rude mule seems to have stepped in his path. The mule gives our tired out Father a stern look of reproach!
Miss Canella decides that enough is enough! She saunters over to the thief, grabs her easily (some would even say heroically), and shouts in her badly bruised face!
Faktar does a little saunter himself. With panache to spare, our White-scale strikes the thief with the pointy end of his rapier!
Ono (decidedly against the thief's futile attempts to retreat) calmly walks up to her; and unloads with both fists!
The wobbling--and only standing upright because of Miss Canella's supportive embrace--is knocked the f$@# out!
Combat over!
The most recent of her victims walks up to the Agents with applause and thanks.
She done took me whole life savings! 5gold pieces! What am I to do?
He looks at you as if he knows what he wishes you to do....
Searching the thief does indeed uncover a purse with 5gp. Also has 22 gp worth of stolen coins in several different pouches and purses. Since there’s no way to know who the gold belongs to, the agents can requisition the money with a clean conscience, along with Rell’s own weapons and armor.
Miss Canella |
Okay guys. Let's take her back to the precinct then head on to our
other case.
Father Emmett Slade |
Father Slade retrieves his bolt from the angry mule's hip, narrowly dodging a kick.
Yelling over his shoulder, he encourages his comrades Let's give this poor victim back his purse. All in a day's work for the AGENTS OF EDGEWATCH
Is there a nearby drop off for the thief? If yes, then I'm good with Miss Canella's suggestion.
Also, have we discussed loot tracking? Do we need a Google Sheet set up to start listing?
Ono. |
“Maybe if we tie the thief up, and pay this charming gentleman a days wages, he would drag this thief back to the station for us?”
Ono turns to the local yokel, nods curtly, hands him his coin purse of 5 gold, and says, “Good sir, we have recovered your savings, and have a proposition for you as well. If you would be so kind as to assist the heroic Agents of Edgewatch by dragging this thief back to the local precinct, there are two silver pieces right here that could be yours. What say you?”
Commandant Lassard |
The innocent-looking gentleman just looks at Ono with bulging eyes! He quickly takes his coin purse back; but he then begins to scoot backwards; before turning around and fleeing into the crowd.
Thank you!
He shouts from the crowd!
The Agents easily track down a mobile unit heading back to the Precinct to escort the unconscious thief.
Having totally ruined her day, the Agents continue on their patrol route on the way to the heated confrontation between two shop owners.
Screams erupt from an excavation project on a nearby street. Workers flee, scattering their shovels and pickaxes as four skeletons in rusted armor clamber up from a hole in the pavement.
