Sisya |
Sisya recites a passage from an epic poem, it has a calming, pastoral theme. Quetsiyah's wounds stop bleeding and start to heal up.
Healing from Soothe spell: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
(Quetsiyah also gets +2 to anything mind-affecting for the next 1 min)
Sisya will try to see what attacked her.
Should I make a roll of some sort to figure out what it was? A creature, or trap, a spell?
Luz Lumino |
Luz quickly designates whatever attacked Qetsiyah as his new lead as he tries to determine what happened.
Recall Knowledge (+4 Religion, +7 Occult) +1 Purse Lead
Emoubu |
Emoubu sees and ally goes down and quickly draws his blade, scanning quickly for a threat.
Luke_Parry |
*cough*
Actually Qetsiyah, that was a crit-fail...
Qetsiyah's legs are nearly shredded!
Even after Sisya's ministrations, she keeps bleeding...
1d20 ⇒ 4
2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Qetsiyah (-18, Persistent Bleed 2d6)
Everyone may act.
Luz: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8.
Luz isn't sure what happened.
Sisya: There was no visible effect (beyond what was already described to you) for anyone *except* Qetsiyah.
Cleva looks around frantically, but nothing else seems to happen...
Qetsiyah |
Shaken from the experience and weak from blood loss, Qetsiyah's eyes roll in her head like a panicked animal. "Do you see them? The hands... they came up from the floor... Ripped me apart... Do I still have doll legs? Please, I don't want to die with doll legs!"
Hmm, this might be bad enough to need my reroll. Will Medicine checks to treat wounds restore her movement speed?
Emoubu |
"Emoubu has some medicine, not best, but will try."
Emoubu pegs his sword into the ground to free his hands and quickly begins to try to staunch Qetsiyah's bleeding.
Medicine to stop bleeding: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Sisya |
Well, I can cast my heal one more time before I'm totally tapped out. Also I've got a minor healing potion I requisitioned, but unless Quetsiyah gets like 3 similar heals in one round she's just going to bleed any healing we can do away in a round or two. Anyone else have potions or something?
Luke_Parry |
Alright then.
C3:
Everything this room once held now lies jumbled over the floor in a soggy mess: torn pages, scraps of fabric, and splintered remnants of furniture. Doors hang askew in the north and east walls, but the door to the south has been smashed from its hinges.
I will take Perception checks :-)
Emoubu |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Emoubu |
"Scary? Emoubu faced more scary things just digging."
Luke_Parry |
@Qetsiyah: No need to use the spell... but until you are at full hit points, your speed is reduced by 10', so please advise.
Luz and Emoubu easily discover a glowing potion, buried in the debris.
Lesser Healing Potion.
Sisya, on the other hand, finds a hidden compartment behind a fallen bookcase, which contains labeled schematics for a Soulbound Doll...
That's it for this room.
Sisya |
Sisya reads over the schematics, and remembers something.
"Quetsiyah, when your legs were injured, you said something about... 'doll legs'?"
Sisya ponders the schematics again.
"We... might need to be watching out for a small, haunted, magical construct..."
Qetsiyah |
"Oh... uh, yeah. I saw something really weird. I guess you guys didn't see it? So, um, these dead, decayed hands burst out from the floor and ripped my legs up, down to the bone, it seemed. But, ah... it didn't look like bone. It looked like those fancy porcelain doll legs." She cleared her throat, feeling awkward about seeing things that others did not.
Were they not real then? No... something definitely hurt me.
"Is that what we're here to find? A living doll? Or have we found the house's story now?
Sisya |
"We have possibly found part of the house's story. This schematic details how to create a small construct out of a piece of a living soul. If something like that was trapped here in this home it could certainly cause strange supernatural occurrences. Occurrences that might not end when the house is torn down. If we don't find a way to lay whatever is going on here to rest, things like your injuries might continue to happen in whatever is built in this location."
Sisya will offer Qetsiyah her minor healing potion.
"I notice you are still limping, please drink this if you think the limp is going to affect your ability to fight.
Luke_Parry |
C4:
Ivy has overgrown the empty window frame, casting this room into cool shadow. A low shelf, its wood warped and cracked, stands against the south wall, and a desk has been overturned and smashed in the eastern part of the room.
Emoubu: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17.
Luz: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16.
Qetsiyah: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20.
Sisya: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9.
Qetsiyah hears faint whispers, pleading “don’t make me go in the doll again”, and realises that there is a Haunt in this room!
Religion (Trained) or Performance (Trained), to 'disable' it.
Luz Lumino |
Has has the same modifier as Sisya, so I'll go ahead and attempt it to keep things moving.
Luz takes a moment to study the schematics for the Soul Bound doll to see if it will help him free the haunt. Roll needed?
With the haunt still one of his active investigations, Luz attempts to disable the haunt.
Religon (Trained): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19
"Spirit that resides within. I command thee to be at peace. The doll will bother you know more."
Emoubu |
"This building scary, Emoubu no like it here."
Luke_Parry |
Luz manages to use his knowledge of religious rituals, and a little intuition, to successfully put the Haunt to rest.
There is nothing else of interest in this room.
C5:
Only a single, aged worktable still stands in one corner of this room, though the clay fragments of an oven and rusted metal suggest it was once a kitchen. The ceiling has completely fallen in, leaving this room open to the sky above.
That's it for this Quest. Where to next?
Emoubu |
"If Emoubu remembers correctly, we must see stoned lady and scholar lady. Stoned lady will keep, let's do scholar lady."
Sisya |
Sisya locates someone who looks as close to an administrator or teacher as she can. She consciously thickens her Vudrani accent as she speaks to them.
"Excuse me, I am here visiting your city from glorious Jalmeray. A fellow scholar was telling me about someone here at the College of Mysteries who was working on a new ritual? Would you happen to know where we could find her?" Sisya holds up her clipboard and writing implements. "I would like to ask her some questions about her studies."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Cleva Q'Strip |
Small Cleva looks about college, "Yes, indeed! We know this is the COllege of Mysteries and everyone here must be really smart. But we are after someone reallllly smart!" She pauses, "Oh and if it helps, we are Pathfinders!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Luke_Parry |
Cleva falls into a conversation with a couple of knowledgeable post-doc students at a local bar.
Tavvar Hamavsi and her research has been a major topic of conversation in the College of Mystery over the last few weeks. She’s been working on a ritual to create partially real shadow illusion manifestations of the memories from people, places, and things, so as to create 'as it was' historical records of important events (basically, a VR simulation).
However, the higher-ups have been pushing Tavvar hard; the 'publish or perish' culture at the College demanding that she produce results... so she has been forced to cut corners when it comes to safety, against her better judgement.
Consequently, she has been working on the ritual for several days at the Blakros Museum (which has excellent wards, so that if something does go wrong, it will be contained) after its normal hours of operation, with some assistants aiding her...
Emoubu |
"Should we go see what scholar lady is doing?"
Luke_Parry |
To the Museum!
When the party arrives at the museum, you find the front door closed, with a sign on the front noting: Closed for private function. Knocking, after a few minutes, results in a middle-aged man holding a mop opening the door.
"Hello? How can I help you? I am afraid that we aren't admitting visitors at this time..."
Cleva Q'Strip |
"Right, we heard an up and coming scholar from the COllge of Mystery is here working on a ritual. We are here from the Pathfinder Society to observe! Can you show us to her please?" Cleva tries to be as polite as possible.
Luke_Parry |
"Oh, you're Pathfinders, here to see Tavvar? I guess that makes sense..."
He then directs the party to the unobtrusive staircase in the museum's northeast corner.
"She's in the tower on the third floor. You can reach it across the second floor. I should warn you: The shadows on the second floor are a... bit weird. They seem to be harmless enough..."
Emoubu |
"Do you want we take care of shadows?" It should be noted taht Emoubu doesn't sound very enthusiastic about the idea.
Emoubu |
"Oh. That better, Emoubu hear bad stories from digging Kobolds that found Shadows. Didn't want that to happen to Emoubu."
"We should go talk to scholar lady now. Have good night Mr. Guard."
Luke_Parry |
Slide 6, B1:
Heading upstairs, the party passes by a short corridor containing a series of staff offices, each of which is locked. The one at the end has a plaque saying 'Nigel Aldain, Curator'.
B2:
Moving next door, this long, narrow presentation space has seating for around thirty guests, all facing a low stage at the south end of the room. At first glance the room seems empty, but a moment later, it seems as though the shadows of an audience still fill the plush seats. A chill draft sweeps through the room, and of a whispery voice echoes from the podium.
“...and rather than engage in a responsible, controlled study of the codebook, Yargos Gill decided — imprudently — to simply execute the signals listed therein...” The voice trails off into a looming silence.
