There was a bit of guilt at using their larger companion as cover, but a quick analysis of the angles showed that to be the most efficient. It would be made up to them later.
However, the use of lethal ordinance did change things. Despite the opportunity of the guards to use different avenues of approach— as evinced by the equipment acquired from the initial downed guard– a lack of regard was demonstrated. Therefore, to keep the scales even, an equal lack of regard would be demonstrated.
Without running, advancing as far as they could took a few seconds, and with little cover, this was an unfavorable location.

Double Move

Gath of Akiton |

Gath lumbers forward his head swinging from side to side searching for foes. He passes his friends and the first guard, in search of other wrong doers. He looms over the second guard.
"Surrender now and leave like your friend. We're just here to rescue the girls. Nobody needs to get hurt."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Double move as shown.

GM Quirk |

The security guard now facing Gath is certainly alarmed by his sudden presence. That said, he is not inclined to surrender at this point.
He retrieves his tactical baton and strikes!
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Gath, as you face down the guard, you see a small one-man spacecraft, perhaps a common kasathan racer, leaving from the area of the airlock near you.

Given that the guard just threw a grenade at the group, Locket does not offer him any terms. Instead, the pahtra continues closing the distance on the man before attempting to punch him on the nose.

Thak raises his pulse caster pistol and aims at the guard, who now faces an angry Pahtra and a hallway filled with people, including one very large Shobhad who obviously went to deal with the other guard.
”Put down your weapon and leave. We’re here to rescue the girls, not fight with you. DO IT NOW.“
Standard action -- using intimidate to demoralize the guard
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 DC = 1.5 * guard’s CR

Locket misses, though Thak is successful in his efforts to demoralize this guard (barely!).
He slowly backs away (guarded step) and fires his pulsecaster pistol at Locket.

Gath -- we've got you! Sadly, I can't hit you with another inspiring boost...
Sen or Goldenarms, can you help out the big guy?

Goldenarms |
Noting the situation that Gath seems to be in, the options for aid were limited.
A moment was taken for synthesis, three seconds taken to apply it to the injector pistol, however, hitting such a large target could prove difficult on a quick draw.

Gath of Akiton |

Thanks, guys.
"There's another space ship!" Gath yells, sure that the information is important, and hoping one of the smarter members of the team can work out why.
The big shobhad barely feels the needle in his back. The guard in front of him is providing a challenge that requires all his concentration. When the baton lands it really hurts and Gath starts to get angry. A flurry of swings with his saps are just cover for the upper arm reaching over his shoulder to grasp the grip of his big spiked club....
Move action to draw club.

Goldenarms, we can assume that you have attuned you microlab to everyone. I'm comfortable with you having done that before you came here.
Senk scorches one of the guards, who is beginning to wonder if he is getting paid enough for this.
Gath swings wildly at the guard near him, and his doshko clangs off of the wall.
The guard near him attempts to return the favor. Hopefully Goldenarms' biohack can help!

Thak can hear that Gath is in trouble. ”Take care of this guy. I’m going to help Gath and see if we can end this now.“
Thak double moves to help Gath and get into flanking position. White X is the end of his first move. He’ll take an AOO from Orange along the way. Does he see anything interesting?
He aims his pistol as he turns the corner, yelling to the guard to get his attention.
If I need to retcon anything because of stuff we can't see, just let me know.

Goldenarms |
There was no real treatment that the Android could give to Gath, so logically, the next available option was to attempt to subdue the guard.
Thankfully, the weapon was non-lethal.

Thak tries to think of words to give Gath a bit of comfort, but comes up with nothing. Back to work, I suppose...
”The rest of the team has the other guard pinned down. Let’s go get the captives.”
He fishes a tier 1 healing serum out of his pocket and tosses it to Gath, then turns to move down the hallway with his pistol held at the ready.
”Drink that serum. It’ll help. “
Then he pauses for a moment and cocks his head. ”Hey, did you say something about a spacecraft leaving?“
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
I moved Thak farther down the corridor to the airlock. Let me know if anything I see would make me change my turn.

Locket Alyara |

This was proving more difficult in practice than in the dojo or tournament arena. Centering himself, Locket turned up the intensity, launching a quick combo of strikes at the guard facing him.

Senkuviene zooms over the fallen guard and pulls around the corner to try and close the gap.
"COME ON BOYS! WE GOT KIDS TO SAVE!"
Double move to current position.

Gath of Akiton |

Gath stares down at the security guard with clenched jaw, but his lower canines and incisors still move slightly in a miniature biting motion. Then his expression begins to soften. "You hurt me." He feels around himself with fingers from his two sap-holding hands.
Sen's rallying cry brings him back to the matter at hand. "We're doing the right thing. We're saving the girls. We're doing the right thing." After a few seconds he shuffles after Sen and Thak.

A departing ship meant that that someone felt the need to flee. If they were fortunate, the individual in charge felt the need to flee without taking their objectives with him. As the others rushed forward, the Android took the time to check on the downed guards, and administer aid where needed.

Goldenarms, with that roll, maybe there can be a miracle. I moved your token near the unfortunate guard who may have a new lease on life.
Senk, most of the doors appear to be locked, but the final room (now revealed) has no door.
Coming around the corner into the final room of the hangar complex, you see a communication and control area. Kevya, and the other "prisoners" huddle fearfully in the far corner.
Lazlo stands before you, brandishing a sword. "You're all only making it worse for yourselves. Breaking and entering. Assault, possibly murder. You won't make it out of here unless it's wearing binders. I'll make sure of it..."

Taking 1minute to Treat Deadly Wounds. Microlab can count as a Medkit, guard will regain their CR in HP. With Locket stopping the bleeding, this just might work. Field of Study's boost can also give them +2 on Fortitude saves, if they have to make one.

Locket Alyara |

Are we resuming from our previous placement at end of last Initiative? Or are we all rounding that corner to the final room?

GM Quirk |

If any of you (particularly Locket) would have liked to use the interim period between the fight with the two guards and moving north toward the final room to move up to your speed you may (consider it a free move toward the action). Please don't move past Senk into the room using this "free" move. A few of you took advantage of the brief pause to do so (as well as heal, etc.). Since Senk approached the room and could see what was going on I needed to reveal and get things going.

![]() |

Thak moves up near Senk, listening for any chatter on the radio. He holds the pistol ready and makes sure the remaining grenades are handy for a quick toss.
He'd love to move up for the showdown, but he knows that he's not the frontline fighting type. He'll make room for our big guns to move in.

"This can all be over if you let those people go!" Sen telepathically shouts to Lazlo. "They clearly look like they don't wanna be here or wherever you're taking them!"

Gath of Akiton |

Gath lumbers into the room, looks around.
"Hi, Kevya! Yon sent us to find you. Tessa, we saw your family too. You all can leave now if you want."
Holding his club high, Gath shuffles between the man with the sword and Kevya and company.
Move as shown. Ready action to attack if he does.

Locket Alyara |

Thanks for clarifying the positioning.
Hearing Senkuviene's call, Locket twitches his ears and hustles to follow the board-riding shirren. Rounding the corner, he readies the numbing beam Gath gave him earlier and follows the shobhad, skirting out to the left to keep an eye on the room.
"Haven't hurt anyone that didn't try to hurt us first," Locket replies. "If you're Lazlo, I'm more than happy to change that."

GM Q -- Can you mark where the hostages are on the map

Sense motive to discern what’s going on with the Prophet

”It’s going to be okay. We’re getting you out of here. There’s no need to be afraid. Did he do anything to you?“
GM Q — Would it be perception or sense motive to figure out why the captives are so terrorized?

Locket Alyara |

Locket looks around, whiskers twitching, uncertain. This was not the reaction he had expected.
