"This one is not familiar with Professor Euiuyou's physiology!"
Sorry, not trained in Medicine, and it looks like we have Survival taken care of.

![]() |

Lexicor sees that the survival is well in hand and will attempt to help the party medic if there is one.
Dang it, I am an android, not a doctor!
medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 aid

![]() |

Laanok digs in his bag, eventually finding a blue fruit.
I was saving this for later but......
he cuts open the fruit with an ancient knife.
This might help keep Euiuyou cool.

![]() |

I think you're the party medic Lex
Oh, that can't be good. Are we allowed to take-10 in SFS?
Laanok, was not that one of the samples of fruit that made you violently ill? I hope this Euiuyou has a digestive track more accustomed to these plant-based foods than our group.

![]() |

Vecro calls for a Ysoki from the caravan.
"Raven if you could please have a look at Professor Euiuyou."
Ysoki nodded to Vecro and began to aid the unconscious patient
Medicine, hireling: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 My professional hireling has Medicine +7
Vecro aids to create a shelter.
Survival, aid another: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Normally I use a video conference device for a hireling, but as we are supposed to not use technology, I had to drag Raven around ;)

![]() |

Professional Hireling Access (Ally Boon: Life Science, Mysticism, Physical Science) - cost 2 Fame. Ability mod equal to the Vecro level +4
Damn! Mysticism or Medicine. Damn, my fault. GM is correct. No Medicine here. Sorry for that

![]() |

I'd suggest trying to use a medpatch, but that would probably offend the cerimony
"How about we throw some water on him? Is anyone here a medic?" Vaal Noor asks the caravan people.

![]() |

If it's a hit point issue, I can provide those, but it seems like heat exhaustion. But that's okay--not every group is going to succeed on everything, so we'll just have to see what happens and carry on.

The Bot Behind the Screen |

The party quickly erects a thick canvas tent to shade the professor as Lexicor looks him over. It appears as though he collapsed due to heat stroke, but with the limited equipment it will be a matter of time and hydration. As the heat of midday passes, the professor seems to stabilize enough to be taken into one of the caravan wagons. By the time the evening comes around, the caravan is able to make a little more headway in the cooler hours. Unfortunately the winds pick up as the night draws near, making navigation difficult in the dim light and dusty air. Whirlwinds of dust dance vigorously before settling around craggy outcroppings of jagged stone, as the trail winds through a canyon carving its way across the sand-swept terrain.
The drivers are getting quickly overwhelmed by the storm... it seems as though they may need some relief.
Anyone who wishes to take over a wagon can give me a piloting check. There are consequences for each player who fails, so only attempt this check if you're confident in your piloting skill.

![]() |

"Let me take a shot at this! I'm feeling quite useless amongst all this wood and rocks!" Vaal Noor takes a driver's seat using his biped posture, having a better view of the terrain than medium characters (useless fluff).
Piloting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

![]() |

"Be my guest!" Raelis calls while shielding her eyes from dust.
"Just call me if you need any more wheels repaired!"

![]() |

Laanok wraps a napkin from his backpack around his neck so he doesn't
get a mouthful of sand.
Does anyone have an extra piece of cloth? This napkin tastes like sand.
What the vesk fails to realize his napkin has gaps that let a little sand in.
uggh..... I could use a mint too.

![]() |

Lexicor will attemp to aid Vaal (if that is possible)
I am actually quite proud of my skills at navigating virtually any craft or transport from the rear seat!
pilot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 aid

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Vaal and his backseat driver manage to guide the rest of the caravan through the rubble and dust without any wagons getting stuck until it gets too dark to continue. You make camp under the shelter of another canyon wall for the night. All in all a decent day. It seems like despite the delay to allow Euiuyou to recover, you've made pretty good time. The delegates are exhausted from the day's trials and tribulations, and mealtime is quiet and quick before turning in for the night.
~~Another night passes...~~
The caravan leaders prepare their beasts of burden for a third day of travel, and after a short simple breakfast the party pushes onward. As the delegation reaches the far end of the windswept chasm, a large plant fills the center of the area ahead. Woowl seems a little bit perturbed by this. "I'm not certain what that is... would you mind investigating before we lead the pack animals in? If they become spooked we'll have quite a problem on our hands."
Note: Woowl automatically aids on Life Science

![]() |

Life Science: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Despite earlier consideration that she should have studied more medicine, Raelis now reflects that perhaps her life science studies will need shoring up too.
Unable to access the slides atm, will place myself in the morning

![]() |

Speaker for the Dead stops suddenly. "This one read about flora and fauna of Castrovel in preparation for this journey. That is a Desert Pitmouth, a territorial, plantlike predator!"
Life Science (+aid): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

![]() |

Vecro removes his shield which he keeps in his hand and a chain which he holds in the other two.
"Ok, need to take a look at the plant. Raven any idea what it is?"
But then he hears the answer from the Speaker for the Dead, and kasatha simply nods.

![]() |

Lexicor stops in his tracks A desert pitmouth? So they have different varieties of these creatures? That is even more disturbing than when I thought there was only one. Either way, I do not like the looks of the rows of teeth in that maw.
The technomage looks at the archaic bow and arrow and decides they will not serve him very well.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Laanok looks at Speaker For The Dead.
Are pitmouths as delicious as they sound? Are they better than kasarik? I once ate a kasarik dart and it was so bad I had to take an antacid. I never need antacids! Now that I think about it, kasarik darts probably not edible.......oh well!
He wraps his sandy napkin around his neck and pulls out his ax.

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Mere moments after Speaker realizes what they are up against, the sands shift...
Vaal Noor: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Speaker for the Dead: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Vecro: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Raelis: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Lexicor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Laanok: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Pitmouth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Round 1:
Lexicor
Laanok
Raelis
Vecro
Vaal
Pitmouth (Partially underground, has cover)
Speaker

![]() |

Lexicor sees the partially exposed plant critter.
To the collective party....
Well I am not certain for the rest of you, but I think it only prudent if that vicious looking plant gets any closer I am going to light it up with some archaic magic.
magic missiles x2: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 = 7

![]() |

Damn I forgot to put my solar armor on.
Vecro keeps his archaic shield forwards as his hand reaches for the mote of darkness flowing around him. As he touches it the darkness spill onto his whole body. His eyes stayed focused on the enemy as he reaches for the cosmic energies of the sun.
His chain bursts in flames.
Photon attunement 1/3
Move action: plasma sheath
standard action: solar armor.

![]() |

As a standard action, Vaal Noor fires an arrow at the sand manta ray:
Bow vs. KAC: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Piercing damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Then he uses a move action to put his drone in front of him, shielding his actions from the caravan. It also fires an arrow.
Bow vs. KAC: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Piercing damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
“Well, that was pathetic, Bone - we need to calibrate your aim better. At least there’s no need to worry about the target having armor!”
Yay...

![]() |

Raelis, with some trepidation draws her bow and attempts to prepares to fire on the creature if it does indeed attack them. She doesn't seem entirely aware of how to hold the arrow in place.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 4 = 21d6 ⇒ 6

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Vaal, you don't need to hide your drone, just keep it with you as though it were a leashed pet.
Also, when I said cover in my prior post I meant concealment.
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 42
Vaal seems to be not half bad with the bow and manages to pick out a section of the creature that isn't covered in sand and sinks and arrow.
Vecro and Raelis hold for it to burst from the sands as Vecro readies himself for it's pending assault.
Round 1:
Lexicor (Readied spell)
Laanok
Raelis (Readied shot)
Vecro
Vaal
Pitmouth (-1 Partially underground, concealement)
Speaker

![]() |

He's disguised as a bug or something - it's more in the sense that a leashed pet shooting a bow might draw suspicion

![]() |

Laanok draws his ax.
Umm..... do you know if croutons go good with carnivorous plant thingys?
He readies to chop up his new friend, "lunch" if it moves within reach.
ax attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 for dmg: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Vaal: You don't need to worry about the drone as long as it stays next to you and uses archaic weaponry. Archaic from a Starfinder perspective still includes things like clockwork beasts and the like, plus they are more about the intent of the sacrifice then complete accuracy, thus still having your modern armor albeit with the advanced features turned off.
The creature leaps out of the ground and flicks its tail, sending a needle flying at Vaal. As it does, it's greeted by the return fire from Lexicor and Raelis, although Raelis greatly underestimates the creature's agility.
Tail Dart vs Vaal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Damage (P): 1d4 ⇒ 4
Round 1/2:
Speaker
Lexicor
Laanok
Raelis
Vecro
Vaal (-4, pending save for more stuff)
Pitmouth (-8 Partially underground, concealement)

![]() |

Gotcha - it's just fluff anyway, or I'd be rolling stealth or something to back up my actions
Fortitude DC 11: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"Yeouch! Fire back, Bone!"
Vaal Noor knocks another arrow at the creature on the cover of the book:
Bow vs KAC: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Piercing damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Then he drops to the floor to get some AC bonuses. His drone tries again:
Bow vs KAC: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Piercing damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
"Darn these primitive contraptions! Can someone close in, so it will stop firing these disgusting things [at me]?" He takes the needle stuck on him and tosses it away, goosebumps visible all over his skin.

![]() |

Speaker for the Dead moves back, knowing his allies are much better suited to protecting the group from this plant-like predator.
Guarded step and Total Defense

![]() |

Vecro begins walking to his left, cautiously setting his feet on the ground. He does not know the terrain and don't want to fall into some sinkhole. He keeps his eyes focuses on the foe and keep his archaic shield between himself and it.
As he closes up on the Pitmouth he begins to swing his flaming chain taking few swings before it and then testing it's body armor with a solid hit
Attack vs KAC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage, photon attunement, plasma sheth: 1d8 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 14
Move and hit. I updated map on slide 3 :|

![]() |

Raelis prepares prepares another arrow and readies to loose it at the creature the next time it rears it's head.
"Maybe I should swap to grenades." She wonders out loud.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -11d6 ⇒ 1

![]() |

Laanok advances into flanking position with Vecro and takes a chop at the submerged plant thing.
Save some for me, Vecro. I want some too.
axe, flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25 for axe: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

![]() |

Lexicor stays put not that the warriors have it flanked.
Strong work, Laanok and Vecro. I suspect the odds of it surviving long with those injuries to be very low indeed.
The android holds his fire for the moment.

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Vaal sinks another arrow into its hide, but as Vecro moves in to strike, the Pitmouth lunges forward and chomps down on the solarian. (It may be medium, but has 10 ft reach! Surprise!)
Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The creature latches onto Vecro and wont let go! Grabbed!
Vecro still manages to wound it severely, and Laanok marches up and promptly turns the plant-monster into salad sushi.
Combat over!
Final status: Vaal -4, Vecro -5

![]() |

"Look at the bruising that thing did! This is awful, I don't think I have been injured since that mission against the cultists..." Vaal Noor stands up and starts cleaning up the sand attached to him.

![]() |

Laanok takes a big chunk of pitmouth and has a bite
Mmmm.......pitmouth sushi is really good! I bet it can taste even better!
he looks around the area for anything interesting or delicious.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

![]() |

Walking up to the sight of the creature and warriors, Lexicor turns up his android noise at the sight of the vesk eating the sand-covered plant creature.
Really, Laanok. I will never understand your fascination with food.
Trying to at least be helpful.
Hey did you look down in the sand under it?
perception, aid: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16

![]() |

"Well, that wasn't exactly as awful as I expected everything to go. Can't say I'm any more confident in my archery skills however. Do we expect to run into many more of those?" Raelis asks the rest of the caravan.

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Jontane has hardly made it to within shouting range by the time the scuffle is over. "Well... I suppose if we do you're well equipped to handle them... even without your normal effects. I must say I am impressed." He looks around and motions to circle the wagons. "At the very least, we wont find any here. Evening is approaching and while it's a bit early, we may as well camp here for the night and start extra early in the morning."
~~Evening turns to night... and night turns to day...~~
The wagons are up and ready to move forward at the crack of dawn as you begin your 4th day of travel. Unfortunately, not long into the hike the wagons roll to a slow stop as several members of the delegation hurriedly clamber from their wagons, grab sanitary tools from beneath the wagon benches, and quickly disappear around the wagon’s far side.
Everyone can attempt 1 of 2 possible tasks to avert this crisis:
1: Treat their intestinal distress with Survival or Medicine
2: Figure out what started this mess with Perception

![]() |

Lexicor's chronometer circuits awaken him at precisely the time set.
What is this commotion and where are they running? This is not at all prudent activity and will interrupt my morning arcane reading regimen.
He tries to fathom with his advanced medical training.
Laanok, if this is another one of your culinary experiments gone wrong, I will be vexed to say the least.
medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Lexicor checks up on the perturbed scholars and finds that they are all are under the ill effects of some toxin that is causing rapid and thorough bowel evacuation. He gets to work treating them, but with so many coming down at once it stands to reason that there must be a common cause. Perception remains

![]() |

Vecro was not prepared for the attack and is surprised when the enemy grabbed him.
However after a couple of breaths it was all over.
Vecro pushed the limp body aside and stood there letting his breathe to calm down.
"Well done all! That was one powerful strike Laanok!"
He takes a moment to regain his strengths and goes back to the caravan.
The following day
"Such amount of aliens getting sick at the same time can hardly be coincident."
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

![]() |

" I agree Vecro, we must have picked up something along the road."
Raelis takes her time wandering around the camp and searching for the culprit.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Vaal spots a crack in one of the water vessels. A further inspection reveals that the crack allowed the water to become contaminated and now has a crystalline fungus growing inside of it. Thankfully the delegation followed the cardinal rule of bringing extra water, and avoiding that tank should prevent the issue from recurring. After the minor delay, the delegation is able to get back on the way. The remainder of the day is uneventful, and in the late afternoon of the following day as you approach your destination, Jontane calls for a pause.
"We have made good time on the journey thanks to everyone's assistance and have the opportunity to visit the collapsed hive destruction that precipitated the original Meeting of Queens. The trip will add about half a day to the total travel time, but we should be able to safely complete it in time for the reenactment."
The delegation murmers approval, although a few of them opt to remain with the caravans to rest up.
Do you wish to visit the hive?
