Pazúr Sixclaw
Pazúr sees the damage the dino-leader has done to Holton, and that his friends have the remaining smaller dino well in hand. He darts across the room towards the leader, appears to stumble for a moment, then suddenly turns the momentum from the false stumble into a lightning fast strike at the leader!
Stride, Feint, Strike
Deception to Feint: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
Rapier attack, Finisher: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Rapier damage, Precise Strike: 2d6 + 1 + 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 1 + (5, 4, 4) = 21
With Confident Finisher, I do half my Precise Strike damage on a miss, so still do 6 damage if that roll misses.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Pazur's feint is perfect, but his strike is off by the thinnest of margins. What would have been a devastating blow is just a scratch!

Sir Holton tends to himself, but at the cost of a good strike.
Kicsit has much more luck, killing the dinosaur with a well placed stone!
In dire straights, the dino-man tries to bring Sir Holton down with him:
Bite 1: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Bite 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Bite 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

"Hey, guys! You blocked my way! And I shouldn't throw a bomb into your group."
He pulls out a lesser elixir of life, and hands it to Kicsit. "Drink this!"

He then draws his dagger.
Pazúr Sixclaw
With a flick of a wrist, Pazúr wraps his dueling cape around his free hand, whirling it in the eyes of the dino-man! With his foe distracted, he makes a powerful lunge at the creature's heart!
Interact to wrap cape around hand (for +1 to Deception and AC), Feint, Strike with Finisher

Dungeon Master S - 2e
Heyou! gives Kiscit a little sometin' sometin' before switching to his dagger.
Meanwhile Pazúr's attack masterfully wounds the dino-man!
Sir Holton stays focused, scoring a pair of blows.
The party knows, however, that these things can take a severe beating!

Heyou! sees how wobbly Sir Holton has gotten, moves around behind him, and starts applying his very mysterious poultices.
battle medicine DC20 w/ assurance: 10 + 10 = 20

He then chucks his dagger at the dino. It misses, but flies back into his hand.
returning dagger: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Sir Holton uses his magic shield for all it's worth! For my own reference, a Minor Sturdy Shield is Hardness 8, HP 64, and BT 32..
The shield absorbs 8 out of 40 due to hardness. Your shield now has 32 HP.
Heyou! heals some of what just happened to the Scarred orc. He misses with his dagger though!
Round 4:

Since his foe fell for it last time, Pazúr again uses his cape to distract, snapping it at the dino-man's eyes before wrapping it defensively around his own fuzzy paw as he stabs with his rapier!
Interact to wrap cape around hand (for +1 to Deception and AC), Feint, Strike with Finisher
Deception to Feint, Cape: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 15 + 1 = 27

Dungeon Master S - 2e
Sir Holton moves to heal himself, but doesn't realize the reflexes that the dino-man has AoO v. 2 Action spell: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26 for DMG: 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3) + 8 = 14. Sir Holton keeps the spell, and heals some of the damage after getting bitten again.
He immediately returns the favor. Unfortunately, Chivivit can't finish him off.
Round 4:
Pazúr (80/80): Hit
Chivivit: Miss

For your victory, each of you earns 90 XP.
Heyou! Bumblebrasher
|
"How is everybody? Me can heal you really good!" says Heyou!, excited to be of help.
Before he heals anyone, though, he does go up and kick the head dino.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Not feeling rushed, the party takes the time to pack their wounds, and rebuckle their armor.
Party Status:
Pazúr (80/80)
Chivivit (46/46)
Sir Holton (78/78, Shield: 32/40)
Kicsit (53/53)
Ferrun (92/92)
What now team?
Pazúr Sixclaw
Pazúr glances left and right, noting that Sir Holton and Ferrun are both covered in blood. "You fellas should be more careful," he remarks, before taking a moment to smooth his pristine fur, "those dinosaur guys are nasty."
Looking around the room, he says, "I guess we should take a look at that little door to the north, eh?"
Sir Holton Carver
|
Repair shield: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
"I am unsure what is making these creatures so tough. But yes, we should check this door."
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Since I'm still learning these rules, someone correct me if I'm wrong: The shield is a Level 4 item, so it's DC 19. Holton passes, so he restores 5 HP + 5 for being trained?
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Still need to resolve the shield, but I'll post the next room.
A few precariously stacked tables contain bedrolls, ropes, cooking pots, and other supplies suitable for a lengthy and arduous expedition.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
What now team?
Ferrun Munkustrap
"I guess we should take a look at that little door to the north, eh?"
"Agreed. Let's see where this leads."
Ferrun searches for traps before pushing up the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
"This looks safe to me. Shall we go through?"
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Ferrun finds nothing in the room, and pushes the party forward.
This irregularly shaped room provides a good view into the weed-choked streets of Holy Xatramba. Two long-dead corpses, each with skin the purple of a livid bruise and a strange rune adorning their bare chests, hang from the ceiling’s wooden beams.
The map here looks like the room continues past the edge of the map, it does not, that's a wall. Will take Religion or Society for more information on the room here. For some reason I think I pasted over the Exploration tracker, and it no longer reads your Activity. So when you next post, remind me of your Exploration Activity.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Whatever this is, it's beyond Ferrun...
Heyou! Bumblebrasher

Heyou! moves in
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Not really caring much for the trappings, Heyou! moves in to check the room out. Doesn't look like much here. It likely served as a lair for the dinosaurs the party recently killed. It looked like there was a door on the west, it was actually a roof. That's not me pulling a fast one on you. Tehre really is no way west here.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
There's nothing here unfortunately.
Dungeon Master S - 2e
There are two sets of doors there, as well as a single door off the first room.
Pazúr Sixclaw
"Double doors are fun, but I think we should check that single door we skipped first," Pazúr responds to Heyou! "Think what a fun fight the last little door got us into!"
He leads the way back to the initial room, waits until they've gathered around, then examines the door and opens it.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Dungeon Master S - 2e
Double doors may be fun, but Pazúr Sixclaw opts for the close door. Hero Point for the map
This door is heavier than the others, muting anything on the other side. The catfolk also finds it stuck. Force Open to get through.
Pazúr Sixclaw
With a quick glance over his shoulder, Pazúr says, "I'm not the strongest of us, but I'm standing here, might as well give it a go." He sets a shoulder against the door and gives a forceful shove!
