The door opens to reveal a large cyclops. Its body ravaged by time, it drags behind him a large axe.

GM: 1d20 ⇒ 14
The cyclopian undead moves to the center of the room and glares at all of the PC's. Needed all three actions to get there.
Everyone May act
Zallarra |
Seeing the huge dead thing shamble out Zallarra takes a split second to look at her closest allies and runs over to Mindartes.
"Here, this will help, unload on him!"
She touches his bow...
Stride, cast Magic Weapon: The weapon glimmers with magic and energy. The target becomes a +1 striking weapon, gaining a +1 item bonus to attack rolls and increasing the number of weapon damage dice to two. Duration 1 minute...
Aktuh |
Aktuh breathes slowly as he watches the cyclops charge into the room. He carefully observes the cyclops, looking for a weak spot.
Devise a Strategem: 1d20 ⇒ 10
With Known Weaknesses, Aktuh gets a free Recall Knowledge. Religion +3, Nature +3, Society +7. He will immediately convey anything he recalls. (+1 to everyone's first attack on a crit success).
He fires an arrow at what he thinks looks like a good spot.
Shortbow, Devised: 10 + 7 = 17 +1 if Recall was crit success
Piercing: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
He fires a second arrow, at a random spot.
Shortbow, MAP: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (15) + 6 - 5 = 16

religion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Zallarra moves and places an enhancement on Mindartis' bow.
Aktuh is drawing a blank on this monstrosity, other than it is undead.
He fires off two shots, both bounce off its bony figure.
Mindartis, Anjo and Raznik may act
Mindartis Nightbreeze. |
"You have been very helpful Zallarra. I hope I won't disappoint you." He takes sight of the cyclops, focusing hard on it and commands Mialee to support him. "Aim for the eyes, Mialee!"
Longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 1 = 27
Magic Piercing + Precision if applicable: 3d8 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) = 10
Hunt Prey, Command Animal (Stride, Support), Strike. If applicable, target takes 1d4 persistent bleed and is dazzled because of support.
PFS 2 GM ZD |
Guessing the bird had to be adjacent to the target. So it will eat an AOO
AOO reaction vs Mailee: 1d20 ⇒ 191d12 ⇒ 5
Mailee flies into support, the cyclopian undead locks on and swings. The massive weapon nearly cuts Mailee in half. Knocks Mailee down to 0 and it was a critical hit. Mailee is at dying 2.
Mindartis watches his companion fall but manages to land a shot, however, not doing as much damage as he thought.

Raznik and Anjo go
Anjo Aroh |
Anjo grits his teeth as the creature reveals itself. As a member of the Vigilant Seal, Anjo welcomed the opportunity to rid the world of such a creature.
Anjo moves back to get range, and unload.
Anjo has Monster Hunter, I suppose it triggers now when I see the creature?
Hunted Shot 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Hunted Shot: 1d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 10 - 5 = 17

PFS 2 GM ZD |
anjo monster hunter: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Anjo is not sure what this thing is either, other than a large skeleton creature.
Anjo fires and lands an arrow. The other two are ineffective.
Raznik has the same luck as one arrow finds its mark.
boss swipe vs Mindartis & Zallarra: 1d20 ⇒ 151d12 ⇒ 8
The undead takes a wide arcing swing at Mindartis. The blade cuts through him and continues on to Zallarra, laying them both open. Does 30 points from the critical hit. Both Zallarra and Mindartis are at dying 2.
The undead creature moves closer to Raznik.
Agents are up. Need recovery checks for Mailee, Mindartis and Zallarra.
69/80
Aktuh |
Disclosure: I previously made a post, and it seems to have been eaten. I'll rewrite it, and I'll note what the die rolled the first time.
Aktuh moves 45' SW and 5'W. Depending on the monster's reach, this may provoke - he moves from 20' away to 20' away to 15' away.
He pulls out a bandage with a trembling hand, and applies it to Zallarra. Sorry, Mindartis, but hopefully this works and she can cast a healing spell.
Battle Medicine: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
:(
Same roll, so it's either coincidence or really didn't take the first time.
Aktuh will yell in Orcish and Jotun, "What are you doing? These are our friends!"
Mindartis Nightbreeze. |
Oh no! Better spread out.
Recovery Check DC 12: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Raznik |
The goblin runs past the monster getting to the corridor and trying to lead it away. He turns and fires two more arrows at it. "Nah-nah! Stupid one eye!"
Hunted Shot: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Hunted Shot: 1d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 5 = 7

PFS 2 GM ZD |
Zallarra moves to dying 3. Mindartis moves to dying 1. @ Mindartis, are you going to roll for Mailee?
Raznik makes a break for the door.
AOO vs Raznik: 1d20 ⇒ 141d12 ⇒ 1
The skeletal beast manages to get a piece of him. 8 damage to Raznik.
From the safety of the corridor, Raznik fires. The arrow is dead on, but the bow lacks the strength to make a mark on it.
Anjo go
Anjo Aroh |
If that 29 is a crit, then Ranzik (or the GM) should add a d10 for the Deadly property
Anjo hesitates...hoping the undead cyclops will take the bait. But not wanting to miss an opportunity to hasten its demise, the ranger readies his bow, waiting for the creature to enter the hallway before he shoots.
TT1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
TT2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Anjo Aroh |
Anjo's attacks should be Hunted Shot, not Twin Takedown
PFS 2 GM ZD |
Yeah, that is a critical hit. With the deadly damage, that means some of the damage goes through now.
The undead moves to chase after Razik. Anjo takes a shot at the back of the skeleton, but it does not notice the arrows.
It continues down the hallway after the goblin that taunted him. It bellows at him raising its ax over head.
BBEG vs Raznik: 1d20 ⇒ 181d12 ⇒ 9
The ax comes down on top of Raznik. Slicking him from shoulder to hip. He drops to the ground. Critical hit doing 32 damage. Raznik is at dying 2

Aktuh |
Aktuh will draw out a (his own) minor healing potion and feed it to Zallarra. He will use his third action to move for the secret door. Using a somewhat circuitous route so that he stays 75' away, hopefully that's not too metagamey.
Aktuh yells in Jotun.
Zallarra |
healing: 1d8 ⇒ 4
OK, had to think about this one...
Zallara gasps as she wakes up, pulls one of her healing potions out and feeds it to Mindartes. She then stands up, hoping the monster stays focused elsewhere one more round.
Grab easily accessible item, give potion, stand. Mindartes, that was a lesser healing potion. With my dice rolls i'll let you roll the 2d8+5 :)
Anjo Aroh |
Zallarra, you really don't want to be standing there...!!!! You have to move more than 70 ft from it or it will KO you again. There's no one to distract it

Aktuh yelled some horrifically profane insults at it in hopes of drawing it towards him.

"There's a button in here that deactivates the murder-bot! Should I press it?"
Anjo Aroh |
Anjo turns to Mindartis, "Be ready, we must follow the cyclops or we will not reach the door in time." Suggesting Mindartis Ready a move action to follow the cyclops
Anjo raises his bow as if to shoot, but then stops. "I dare not distract it....if this fails some of us may not survive."
Anjo will Ready an action to move once the cyclops has stopped moving towards Aktuh. Then I believe Anjo and Mindartis will still get to move again before the cyclops' turn.
Mindartis Nightbreeze. |
"Agreed. I do hope the others will be alright. Let us go aid Aktuh."
Mindartis patiently waits for the cyclop to move towards the room where it came from and follows along.

"Now, I will go down and distract the cyclops so Akuth can slip past. If I am laid low, Aktuh will have to drag me clear of the door. By the gods let's hope this works."
Bow in hand and knot in his gut, Anjo follows the cyclops, barely noticing Mindarti's slain companion. When Anjo gets withn axe length of the creature, Anjo calls out to get its attention, then moves back out.
Clear of the door and back in the center of he room, Anjo turns and fires.

Once back outside the room, Anjo fires another pair of arrows. Both land and chip some more bone off.
Zallarra, Mindartis and Aktuh to act
57/80
Zallarra |
This assumes that Aktuh is leaving and that door is coming down, closing it back in..
Zallarra sees Raznik fade and screams a very unlady like cry of anger, "No!"
She then head back in to give Aktuh cover and be in range to heal someone if needed.
After moving in she is not close to hit it with any of her spells that may slow or inhibit it in any way so she tries to add a tiny bit of damage onto it...

Aktuh |
1. Does Aktuh see anything in the room that makes him think that there's a better plan than the current one? If not, Aktuh will (attempt to) run out of the room.
2. How does the secret passage lay out? Can Aktuh get through without Tumbling Through? If so, he'll circle around. If not, he'll just Tumble Through. The cyclops' squares are difficult terrain so he needs two actions to get into the main room; if the first Tumble Through doesn't work, he can try a second time. I don't see a Attack flag on Tumble Through so I'm not including a MAP on the second attempt. I have no Hero Points, so no rerolls are available.

As the Indiana Jones theme song plays, Aktuh dives under the closing door. He drops his hat, and reaches back through to grab it.
Anjo Aroh |
with Anjo clearing the door, Aktuh would have time to grab something and move out.
PFS 2 GM ZD |
Description of room
This room appears to have been the cell of a desperate prisoner. The walls are covered with scratches and feverish writing in a brownish-red fluid, and the stone furniture has been shattered into fragments. The room is cold and humid, with condensation forming on every surface.
So nothing of note on the inside.
@Aktuh, there is a five foot gap on either side, so no need to tumble through
Zallarra re enters the main chamber and tries one last attack. The stone bounces off the side of the wall.
Aktuh manages to go around the side of the BBEG and back out the room.
Mindartis is up. Time to finish the encounter
Mindartis Nightbreeze. |
Once he's sure that Aktuh is out safely, Mindartis sprints towards the area where he was able to open the secret door and attempts to close the door and trap the raging cyclops.
PFS 2 GM ZD |
Mindartis moves in and releases the mechanisms to close the door. It closes faster than it took to open, sealing the beast back inside.
Out of combat
Anjo Aroh |
Anjo drops to one knee and the sweat is streaming off his face.
"Aktuh, you just saved our lives by angering the creature and tricking it back to its hole. If you were my type, I would kiss you....fortunately for both of us, you are not."
Anjo bows his had as he realizes Raznik is not among the living. Looking at goblins companion,
"In hindsight, Raznik might have used the bird to buy himself some time. I suppose the good news is it will be here for him when he is risen from the dead."
"Right now, I think we should exit this tomb and heal ourselves. If we are satisfied that there is nothing more to learn, we can decide if we want another go at this foul beast. I for one, would risk my life to slay it, but I will not expect you are all as committed. We would need to be more prepared. But we all must agree. If any of us would rather not, then we will speak no more of this and depart."
Made the case in OOC tab. Just posting it IC for the roleplay.
Anjo will head outside to gather herbs and start treating his wounds and those of anyone else who needs them.

PFS 2 GM ZD |
The agents decide it is best to return to camp and return what they have found. They bring the slain Raznik back to see the healers.
As the sun sits low on the horizon, the sound of a great disturbance comes from the edge of the base camp. A mysterious pillar of energy erupts skyward from an area near the quartermaster’s warehouse, filling the sky with crackling black lightning. Sapphire, the member of the Decemvirate, can be seen inside the pillar, grappling with a nebulous, shadowy figure. It’s unclear whether the creature is attacking Sapphire, or if the Decemvirate member is restraining the shadowy creature. As you watch, Sapphire’s eyes lock with yours, and they nod grimly. “Stand back!” they shout, pulling a small item from their belt.
The pillar of energy suddenly implodes, collapsing into a single point of intense negative space before exploding outward, sending Pathfinders and tents flying away from the epicenter of the blast. When the dust and smoke clear, Sapphire is gone. An empty suit of leather armor; a battered set of traveling clothes; and a scorched, sapphire-studded mask are all that remain.
Jorsal and Shrike rush forward and take charge of the situation, immediately recovering Sapphire’s Decemvirate helm and other gear. Other Pathfinders help to clear the area of debris and begin restoring the camp to some semblance of order. Jorsal sends the PCs to the medical tent to be checked over. After an hour or so, he returns, visibly shaken but tight-lipped about the cause of the pillar or what happened to the Decemvirate member.
Jorsal looks over at Raznik and the healers that surround him, "Status report. What did you find or better yet, what found you?"
Zallarra |
"At the end of our sector we found an undead cyclops of some kind. He was a brute, knocked two of us out in one stroke and then killed poor Raznik The others barely managed to trick it back into it's lair and seal it in. We would beg that more experienced pathfinders return to slay it."
She takes a second to get her emotions under control.
"Before that we were checking the area out and ran into the remains of a silver dragon. It was and may still be haunted as it conjured skeletons to attack us. As we passed on we found a shaft under a ziggurat that led to an underground area. After defeating a few nasty fungi we found a large cavern with old writings and carvings. Much of it was damaged but we did figure a few things out." She will quickly relate what we found out in that flurry of rolled '1's' and then continue.
"After that we found a sealed door that contained the beast..."
