"I feel that making sure every room is explored and cleared is the best since I wouldn't like any further surprises that may come from them." Thorn explains.
Thorn still follows the group down though as he's curious about the other levels.
Seeing the vegetation though he's a little surprised.
"Such intense plant life in these depths. I wonder what they are."
Blaze Oriel
Blaze helps Andrei to open the door and looks confused to see plant life growing in the elevator shaft. "Are they really plants? There is no sun for them here..." She looks carefully first and if she sees nothing of concern, she reaches in to pluck a leaf from the dead vegetation and holds it in her hand to see if it will burn.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
GM Wolf
Knowledge Nature should reveal if they are plants or not.
Holding the leaf, it will burn easily. The sap on the other hand that is now on your hand takes much more time to burn off.
Andrei Fidecupe
Andrei nearly trips on a wild dog-themed bandolier at his feet."Dey ăre şurely mâgîc, âlong wîth moșț țhîngș în thîș ţower."
Lilianne Nightshade
Lilianne will pick up the strange fetters and jangle them at Andrei before attaching them to her belt. What that means, she will leave to him to interpret. If possible, she would use her cold iron sword to cut a swatch through the leaves or have Blaze burn her way through before getting cut up by them.
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 (If it is not possible to avoid them by the above-mentioned methods, then here is my die roll)
"I would agree, if anything else in here is an indicator, they are obviously magical, or perhaps bred with magic in their growth--although I'm no botanist."
She will move to the door with Andrei and check it with him to make sure it is not trapped.

"Did that leaf just burn when plucked? There's a jungle of them!" Thorn exclaims in horror as nothing in his memories could let him forget that but........he has no memory of them.
Lilianne Nightshade
Not seeing any particular signs of danger, she carefully and quietly opens the door. If there is resistance, she will not force it. With her elven eyes, she peers into the darkness of the room beyond.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Andrei Fidecupe
Andrei tenderly touches Lilianne's shoulder as she passes, casting guidance on her. +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check.
GM Wolf
Lilianne continues to move through the vegetation... silver damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 and cold iron damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The vegetation makes movement difficult terrain. With stealth that cuts down your speed as well. One move action and the above damage. Moving carefully will let you take half damage round down. But your movement of 10 feet is taking two move actions.

Recon
We went down the elevator. Andrei and Blaze opened the elevator door that was not opening on its own, the sap was on the back of the door. Blaze investigated the leaves in front of us.
Communicate with each other and make a choice to cut through, burn, or just slowly venturing into the thicket. Or just act!
The prickly cutting thicket of vines and sharp leaves. It is soo thick you can't even see through it.
Lilianne tried to cut a swath through the leaves, and she was cut a little but had not moved into the room yet.
Thorn Slivertip
Thorn looks as Lilianne struggled to even enter the room. Those cuts didn't look small either.
In common, Taldane
"Burn these I guess." he looks towards blaze "While the rest of us back track a little. Trying to view what's in this room with these plants is making it impossible. It might also clear away any nasty creatures in hiding."
Lilianne Nightshade
"Yes, please, burn these leaves. I can't even cut at them. Just be mindful there is a trap over there. Of course, if you are burning them, Blaze, it will probably consume the trap as well," she points in the direction of the trap.
Once there is enough clearance for her to swing her 6ft blade, she then might be able to start clearing some leaves without being cut.
Blaze Oriel
Blaze nods and gathers power, then launches her flames into the dead vegetation, further infused to catch everything it touches on fire.
Thorn Slivertip
Thorn backs away and wraps his cloak around his face.........
Lilianne Nightshade
Reacting quickly, she pulls everyone back into the elevator and casts a cantrip on the mechanism for it to go back upward. They will let the smoke settle a bit before traversing back down.
"Well, better than getting cut up by all that, I suppose," she looks over her wounds as she bleeds quite significantly. "They didn't look like much, but man does it sting!"
GM Wolf
How long do you wait?
With Blaze quickly starting the fire with a blast and Lilianne's quick thinking you have no danger from the smoke. At worst your clothes smell like smoke.
The elevator still has smoke in it as it reaches the 2nd floor again but it quickly dissipates. Some smoke slowly fills the elevator as you wait... then you clearly hear something big moving below from the elevator shaft. It is moving up... Round 1... what do you do? Combat has not started but I need your actions stated before combat starts. It may well determine who gets surprise round. You don't know how many rounds you will get before it gets to your level.

"Something's coming up. Whatever we did flushed it out. Think it might break through the elevator?" he asks the rest as he gets ready his own weapons and takes the front...
Andrei Fidecupe
Andrei tries to get off at a safer floor by hitting the buttons to get back to the original floor.
Lilianne Nightshade
Does 20 Minutes sound good, guys?
"Everyone move back, I want to see what it is before we attack! I'm ready, but I could use some healing if we are going to fight," she voices, still bleeding on her arms and hands.
She will then ready herself.
Lilianne Nightshade
Nope, she's just keeping away from the elevator at the moment until 20 minutes has passed or until someone else has a different mentioned time.
Blaze Oriel
Blaze knew that lighting fires could be risky, especially in enclosed spaces. She loaded back up with the others and went back to the level above.
20 minutes is fine with me, but when the smoke dissipates is probably the best indicator of when it becomes safe to head back down. Also good with waiting for whatever it is to come up.
"Something's coming up. Whatever we did flushed it out. Think it might break through the elevator?" he asks the rest as he gets ready his own weapons and takes the front...
"We could send the elevator up and out of it's way, mebbe?"
She stood back some distance and gathered as much power as she could hold to make ready. Then she opened her hand, her flames springing forth and ready to throw as soon as the threat showed itself.

"Sounds like a good idea. Please do so. If it is hostile I should be able to take a few blows." Thorn states as he places his shield a little higher to his front.
Lilianne Nightshade
She shakes her head to Blaze, "It only seemed to go up or down and you just cast into it. If I cast into it right now, it'll just go down since it's at the top. There is no hole above it either, I don't think," she bends down as she tries to view it from a distance. Try explaining an elevator shaft without knowing what an elevator is! "Still, I swear it's rising. perhaps crunching?"
She squints as she observes forward.
"For all we know, it could just be pressure and not an actual creature. Thankfully we are well away from it so we can actually see what it may be!"
GM Wolf
Anything or spells that you prepare in the next 7 rounds? I didn't realize how slow it moves!!!
The muffled banging of some thing large and as it gets closer you can hear smaller bangs as well.
Round 5, the holes get bigger.
Round 6, the elevator cart falls apart into pieces and the large plant creature moves up into its space.
Round 7, you are face to face with a tangle mess of vines. It orients itself and it rises up like an agitated snake a great single brightly colored enormous bloom arises from a thick, leafy tangle of snake-like vines.
Thorn Slivertip
In Common, Taldane
"It definitely hates fire so If it comes to violence, we know that Blaze is definitely it's mortal enemy!" Thorn laughs as he looks.
As the banging continues, an tendrils of something starts popping out he glances at the rest and shrugs. Using his fall back ability to once more transform into a familiar fat man. It might pay to be careful afterall.
Lilianne Nightshade
I'm surprised it was even able to get its big butt up that shaft! No spells from me.
At Thorn's comment, she shifts to stand nearer to Blaze and out in the lead from the group. She is on the defensive until she can see what this thing is going to do, but her massive sword is still out.
+4AC
Andrei Fidecupe
Andrei also goes full defensive, next to Lilianne. "Âye love you", the cleric whispered to the half-elf.
Blaze Oriel
Ok, sorry for my confusion, since we're on the 2nd level down, I thought there might be room for the elevator to go up to the 1st floor.
Somewhat concerned that the elevator might be destroyed by whatever was climbing up the shaft, Blaze asks, "If it bursts through, how will we go back down? I can try and scare it away, mebbe?"
Can Blaze release her readied attack from the last post as soon as she sees signs of it in round 4? No preparation beyond gathering power that I mentioned before.
Lilianne Nightshade
At the western side of the 2nd floor is the elevator we took to come down to this floor. The elevator to the 3rd floor subbasement is on the eastern side.
"Oh, it's not if...it's when from the sounds of it. We'll have to use some rope or something."
As Andrei whispers to her, she will shoot him a glance and a cute little smile grows on her lips as if she's holding the words tightly. It is then that the beast bursts through and the writhing mass makes its way up.
"Oh gross...what is that thing?"
GM Wolf
Yes Blaze that would be fine. As the tentacles begin to appear in the elevator Blaze releases her shot, scorching one of the tentacles, severing it from the rest of its arm. Will you be shooting it in Round 5 - 7 now too? If so have at it!
There is another elevator to the side, also you could always make a ladder of some kind or use rope. XP
Thorn Slivertip
Thorn grabs his head as his memories like an unwanted tenant swarms him for a moment giving him a glimpse of what could be!
In Common, Taldane.
"Run! This is not something we can fight as we are. I see us being food for it. So run as fast as we can away from this." He urges his companions.
Taking a rear position to guard them as his voice urgently urges them to flee.
Lilianne Nightshade
"You see it?"
She has believed Thorn so far, and with her still bleeding profusely from the cuts from the plants below, she grabs Andrei and runs.
"Come on!" she will call to Blaze, but she will look behind to see how fast it moves. If it moves slowly, she will try to stay well out of its reach and will ask Blaze to keep shooting it from a distance. Now she really wishes she had found a bow down in that room with Ethos.
Blaze Oriel
Blaze was willing to stand and fight, but as her friends seemed so anxious to leave, she decided it was best to join them. It did seem like a very dangerous plant creature. "I hope it does not follow us up again."
Ok, withdraw, if we can.
Andrei Fidecupe
Andrei does his best to help the others off the elevator so they can fight the vegetable monstrosity.
GM Wolf
Thorn is the rear guard, so he isn't moving until the rest of you do. Blaze withdraws from the fight taking a double move across the room towards the other elevators. Lilianne grabs Andrei and runs to the elevators across the room.
The monstrosity slowly moves, 20 feet per round. It gives you plenty of time to get into the elevators. It continues after you... Its tentacles move forward reaching for you a good 20 feet ahead of its body.
You could wait a round maybe two before casting the cantrip to make the elevator rise before its tentacles got close.
Lilianne Nightshade
Lilianne will let Blaze take some shots at the beast, allowing it to get closer before casting a cantrip to make the elevator go up.
"If we can hurt it badly enough doing this, when it gets up top, hopefully, it will be an easy fight!"
So how many attacks will Blaze need to roll in total from the moment it got up into the elevator until we leave for the next floor? Is anyone else shooting something?
GM Wolf
Excellent question. I asked above if she wanted to shoot it for rounds 5-7 but didn't get a response. So if yes there and two rounds here. That would be 5 pot shots! Or if you don't want to make it a close call... 4 shots.
The vines begin to creep in every direction not just following you but to all of the rooms. The main trunk or source of the vines continues to slowly follow you!
Thorn Slivertip
In common, Taldane.
"That would be nice but I remember this going very differently when it was just us. Getting to the top and bringing the rest in might tip this battle in our favor!" Thorn calls out even as he continues rear guard action.
Once he retreats fully to the elevator, he continues facing the vines and really wishes for the elevator to move up faster.
Blaze Oriel
Ok, here we go! If it fails it's save and catches on fire, she gets a +2 to attack it and her DCs. Tracked her path as best as I could on the map starting with Round 4. Round 7 and 8 will be fired from the escape elevator.
Blaze nods as she prepares to keep up her blasts as the group retreats. First she fires, and then moves.

"Woohoo! Blast that ugly thing!" she calls out as they back up further and further. When Blaze finally makes it onto the elevator, she infuses it with a cantrip to rise up.
"I wonder if it's stupid enough to climb up this one too? I can't believe how much flame you can produce, Blaze..."
GM Wolf
DC 5: 4d20 ⇒ (13, 6, 2, 5) = 26
It doesn't burn for the first two rounds, but as Blaze keeps up the barrage it can't put it out fast enough. Blaze's attacks are effective and you can see it burn but it has a lot of vines and body to itself. Though it keeps coming after you. You hear the dull thuds of the tentacles on the doors to the elevator. +-70 damage.
You get up to the 1st level of the dungeon. What do you do?
Blaze Oriel
Blaze cannot help but smile in her lopsided way as Lilianne cheers on her flames. She moves out of the elevator when they stop on the first floor and presses an ear to the wall, listening for sounds of the creature's pursuit.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Unfortunately, all she could hear was the sound of her own heartbeat, pounding in her ears from the excitement and exertion. "I cannot hear it. Do you think it follows, still?"
Lilianne Nightshade
"It seemed mindless...and all the more pissed off that we were hurting it---like an animal. Yes...it still follows. Come away," she pulls Blaze from where she has her ear pressed.
"Keep distance and when it comes up, blast it more. I'm going to alert those above and make sure they know what's going on. We could also use some more ranged help to make sure this thing dies before it gets through the dining room area here."
With that, she will run full bore to the ladder up to the encampment. Once there, she will alert them before heading back down with all haste.
It shouldn't take her but a round or two I think to make it up top and back down, right?
"We are under attack by a massive creature. We could use some ranged help if anyone has something that will aid us. If not, it looks mightily strong. No rushing in."
Thorn Slivertip
The fat man following after them adds in.
In common, Taldane
