What just happened?
I posted a post in the discussion here, then posted in the Gameplay thread of another game, which the Forumbeast has double-posted to this Discussion, overwriting my earlier post here.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My earlier post simply expressed support for sea shanties. Great Big Sea is one of my favorite bands, and now I want to make a bard pirate character.

You should totally make a bard. I think Loola could be an excellent one. You still have a chance to update your errant post, by the way.

Thanks. I agree that Loola would be a good bard, but that's not quite what I have in mind for her. Probably make her an arcane trickster (sorcerer/rogue). My other goblin sorcerer might be headed toward bard. He is a sorcerer follower of Sarenrae, and he sings John Denver songs. (Sunshine on my Shoulders).

Part of the reason I play bards is to have an unabashed chance to filk!

You can play a bard as a drill sergeant, you know!
And if you meant you were avoiding my bards, I'll have you know you've done a terrible job of it so far!
Everyone, game tonight and suddenly awash in writing contracts, so no posts tonight and possibly a slower pace until GenCon is over.

Indeed. After a 6-month desert... It is nice to finally be writing again, though they all have TIGHT deadlines. I need to give up my perfectionism and just write.

![]() |

A drill sergeant would be the only sort of bard I could do. Although Scratch's great Aunt Marcie was a thunder caller bard in 1.0. Big drums!
As far as avoiding your bards I think that's all you play so yes, I'm 0-2.

I have been known to play a non-bard or two, but all my non-bards have bardic elements. People are really shocked when they discover that Flip the Lucky is an Inquisitor. Still, he has a darn fine Perform Oratory.

As I said, I went from 6 months of nothing to three editors contacting me in a 24 hour period... Now to actually make some progress on the projects.

Your GM made an error and posted a retraction, but... also wrote 1000 words last night. They'll need revising, but the ideas are out for the project, yay!

Thank you for botting me! Apologies for disappearing, I also had a freelance turnover due today and also a bit of a staycation (had an annual camping trip planned for this week that's been canceled, but still got to unplug and take a day hike!)
Also, thanks for rolling so well for me, bot! :)

GM Hmm |

Yeah, yesterday was busy for me too!

The idea of a tiny goblin with +7 to Intimidate is genuinely hilarious to me.

![]() |

Ya its always been that way with intimidate being tied to CHA vs STR. Usually the sorcerers are the most intimidating of the party. It is a bit sad in the grand scheme. They should have figured out a better way to balance that without taking extra feats.

Your GM is underwater with stuff -- see you tomorrow!
Also, there is a PF2 Humble Bundle. This would be a great place to pick up PF2 books cheap!

Working on chronicles. Sandstone, are you a Field Agent? I don't have training on record for you.

This is important so I can know how much money to put for your dayjob.

Yes, I decided to go Field Agent because it makes the most sense flavor-wise.

GM Hmm |

Sandstone, while you are still Level One, if you decide at some point to pick up training instead (maybe from your traveling companions, let me know.)

Oh, interesting option. Okay so I finally figured out where all the stuff for training is documented. Do people generally put all three points in one school, or is it at all common to see a 2/1 or 1/1/1 split? Do you have any recommendations for a school that makes good flavor sense for this guy?

![]() |

I think most people (from what I've seen) do all three points in a single school, but I'd be interested to hear if there's more variety in that than I'm aware of.
--
My question, though: Why would we get a wayfinder with cash instead of faction fame? I know there are other things to use the latter on, but that's a pretty cheap purchase price...

![]() |

Not that I have many characters but I think those that are trained pathfinders (at least Scratch here) put all three points in Swords.
As far as wayfinder purchasing, not sure, but more options are good for those that could have steep goals on fame purchases and more flexible gold? Its hard to spend some gold on casters that don't really use weapons and armor. Its all consumables really early on.

Regarding Pathfinder Training: I've seen a lot of either 2/1 splits or 3 points in one school. Very few people can resist the prospect of a bonus feat at fifth level.
Mechanically speaking, 2/1 offers you more flexibility in the consumables you pick up, while 3 in one allows you to pick up a second consumable. Take a look at the feats, skills and consumables offered by each school, and see what sort of support would be fitting to your character.

@GM: I am making some retraining adjustments to Loola before the briefing. In particular, I'm giving her shocking grasp instead of burning hands. I will also make some purchases.

Hey Gang,
I wanted to make sure that all of you have seen that the ACP program has gone live. Fox, you were asking earlier about uncommon spells? This blog has a list of uncommon CRB spells available for purchase with ACP.
I know that it will be a while before most of us can purchase something with ACP, but hey... You're earning some with every XP that you play or GM!

What spells are available with the Esoteric Spellcaster - Core Rulebook boon?
The spells available are: circle of protection, discern lies, drop dead, ethereal jaunt, false vision, globe of invulnerability, hallucinatory terrain, locate, magic aura, mind blank, mind reading, nondetection, power word blind, power word kill, power word stun, protection, spell turning, stone tell, or undetectable alignment.
They're listed in there, I promise! Did you see 'protection' in there? I believe that was the spell you were looking for!
