I went ahead and moved up our minis to explore around that next corner. I will be Searching for exploration mode.

Didy creeps up to the door as he pulls the brass ear from his pouch and presses it to the door and his ear. Afterwards, he takes a sniff under the crack under the door, hunting for that distinctive xulgath stench, trying to piece together how many different scents he may detect.

not sure which would be more effective, but I figure it is searching with Perception +14 either way (brass ear halves any DC increase from the door). Afterwards I will step back to let Carl up to the front.

Carl gives a big grin to Ambro. He taps his chest and then pretends to open the door. He then points at Ambro and does a little bunny hop toward the room. He then reaches forward to open the door.

Rows of splintered wooden pews face an oval marble dais three feet high. Wide marble steps lead up to the dais, and a polished mahogany pulpit stands at its center. A glorious fresco on the curved wall behind the dais depicts Aroden engaging in several tasks, although it appears to have been defaced with tar and old blood in the form of crudely drawn additions.

A slight xulgath here appears to be performing some sort of ritual, annointing three larger xulgath with some sort of unguent from a wooden bowl. The slight xulgath wears a delicate circlet on her head, and her mouth is set in a ghastly grin.

The xulgath whirl toward the open door and charge.

The slight xulgath drops the bowl, which splatters a viscous brown liquid on the ground, and begins casting a spell.

A semi-transparent spiked gauntlet appears in the air in front of George and strikes at him.

Looks like my damage from the Spiritual Weapon did not show.

Carl lets rip a roar as he rushes into the fray. Getting right next to Blue and Green, he lashes out with his trident. Then he moves back toward the door.

Crap. Probably moot, but I just remembered that I get critical specialization effects against my prey now. So my arrow should have green immobilized until he makes a DC 10 athletics check.

Would my Glimpse have helped Al? The 7 hp saved might not be much, but Enfeebled 2 might help next round.

I got to put some pressure on that caster! Carl looks back at the group, then down at Ambro. You can replace me if you want. Or you can stay and help here. He then strikes out at Blue. Moving to place his back at the wall, he attempts to trip the caster.

Al wipes away the blood trickling down her face and shakes her head in disappointment with the xulgath. With a snap of her fingers she vanishes from sight and a cloud of fey mist surrounds Carl. Then she slinks off to courageously hide behind the stairs.

I am using intimidating glare on Yellow and then using Fey Disappearance (making me invisible until the end of my next turn or until I attack), which triggers the Annoint Ally on Carl so he gets concealment for a round. Then striding away.

Carl gets a grin as he sees the spiritual weapon leave the room.  Striding over to the corner, he shuts the door. Ha! Let them try to sustain without line of effect. Could someone move me to corner.  He then attempts to trip the caster.

Move, Manipulate, Trip.  Still no shield so AC 24.  I have no line of effect either, so the caster and I can just look at each other.

Al creeps back into the hall, reappearing in a puff of fey mist right in front of the xulgath with a big smile under her demon mask.

"Boo!"

Made post on Discord about maybe using Glimpse on that first hit since the door was opened and Carl now has line of effect. It would save Ambro 25 hp.

Carl stabs down at the mage, then jabs again. Then he moves to stand by Ambro. These guys have thick hide. Maybe they are not that nimble. Can we try some electric? As his presence envelopes the group, Didy feels his nerves calm. Aura of Courage reduces frigthened by 1 at my end of turn.

Strike, Strike2, Move. No shield so AC 24. Glimpse on first hit to Al or Ambro. Kvothe and Didy have the hp.

Strike1 vs FF: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

Glad you reposted here—the discord is for you guys, I don't really pay attention to it (and I think they tend to absolutely murder roleplaying, and make gameplay overly considered and metagamey, although that's neither here nor there.) If you want me to see it, post it here.

That said, I'm only seeing that reducing damage by 8 for the initial strike not 25, which would still bring Ambro down. If my math is off I can adjust.

He would be Enfeebled 2 for the second strike. That would make it a miss and save him those extra hp.

I think he was thinking that the enfeebled penalty would force a miss on the second swing.
Either way, I want to delay until after blue. The last thing I want to do is pop up Ambro only for Blue to immediately drop him again.

Thank you very much for the retcon even if it only delayed his demise. I suppose it at least saved Al from a swing. These guys are not messing around! And enfeebling blue could certainly help us next round. Alrighty I think I need to leave Ambro down for now. These guys hit hard enough that I can't guarantee he won't go down in 1 hit. I am best off trying to drop yellow and keeping Al standing.

DC should be 11 (10 + dying value), so he passes by the skin of his teeth! So now he's no longer dying 1 but has wounded 1 instead. At least he's not in danger of bleeding out.
