Didymus still has his nose to the ground when he notices that combat has erupted all around him. Amped up by Kvothe's melodies, he squints his eyes and looses an arrow at his prey's vital organs, then with a nod to Ambrosius, he sicks his trusty sidekick on the creature to finish the job. The dinosaur nimbly circles around behind his prey and lashes out with a vicious bite, aiming for the same vitals as his master.

1st action I will try to recall knowledge about the creature. Nature or religion are +6T, dinosaur lore is +3T which I know isn't right but Didymus totally thinks this thing looks a lot like Ambrosius. Anything else I am untrained with a +0, but I'll give it a shot for giggles regardless. 2nd action I will fire my bow. Last action I will command Ambrosius. His 2 actions will be to stride forward (with his 50' speed he can easily run around behind the creature to open up a flank for Kvothe) and then take a bite of some creepy poultry.

Inspire courage: all allies within 60' of Kvothe get a +1 Status bonus on Attack rolls, Damage rolls, and Saves against Fear effects.

Slowed 1 - You have fewer actions. Slowed always includes a value. When you regain your actions at the start of your turn, reduce the number of actions you regain by your slowed value. Because slowed has its effect at the start of your turn, you don’t immediately lose actions if you become slowed during your turn.

BumBum misses. Noatuk's first swing smashes the creature, but his second misses.

GM:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Didymus isn't sure what this creature is. Both his shot and Ambrosius' bite miss it.

Keeping with the trend, Al's shot of flame goes wide as well.

Sadly, Kvothe finishes up the round with another missed attack on the creature.

The creature flaps its wings and aggressively claws at the earth as it darts its beak forward toward Noatuk.

1d20 ⇒ 10
Damage: 1d8 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

BumBum is also not sure what this creature is. He is sure that he smacked the hell out of it with his tail, however. This is followed by a series of missed attacks on the chicken, who is proving to be very difficult to hit. Lady Al ends the round with a blast of flame, however. Didymus doesn't recognize the snakes. He isn't sure this is the exact snake that bit Myron--it would seem more likely that the culprit (or culprits) was among the vipers found in the Big Top, under the bleachers. But it is of a kind with the one that killed Myron, certainly.

Satisfied, you move along the path--which is almost barely perceptible, and, you suspect, not often trafficked.

GM:

1d20 ⇒ 9
1d20 ⇒ 5

As you follow the path, you suddenly hear a twang! sound, as a tripwire breaks. Noatuk has a second to register what is happening before a branch swings down at him, with dozens of thorned vines wrapped around it.

Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30 Ouch! Critical
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 piercing damage.
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4 poison.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Total of 10 damage to Noatuk--the poison on the vines didn't seem to affect him much.

"Well dat hurt... I tink I need a moment."

Noatuk spends 10 minutes in prayer and reflection to regain his focus point. At the end he will cast Lay on Hands to heal six HP damage unless anyone else provides healing.

"Sorry about that, Noatuk! I had my sniffer down to the ground and forgot to watch out for traps."

He stroked his chin in thought, "Somebody obviously set this trap to fend off unwanted guests and to alert them! I think that we should hurry if we can. Whoever is responsible for this is liable to get away or prepare even worse surprises for us! Kvothe, can you heal Noatuk's wounds quickly? Otherwise I think BumBum is right that it's worth drinking that potion!"

If there is a scent to follow and designate as my prey I will Track. Otherwise I will scout to give us the initiative boost.
