This place... , he says looking about in wonder.
Looks like a Viking raid, cross village wedding and an inter clan clan feud combined... add brimstone....
Maybe get that nobleman home?
He carries a recovered shield but with an effort made to scratch out and cover up the Bamphomet symbol.
| Roscoe Tosscobble |
Roscoe moved to the sound of voices and looked around the corner toward the situation.
insight: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Feverish eyes? How unholesome does this look?
He looked back to his companions, "There's more trouble here. Something not right."
Does the woman appear to be related to the shrine some how? Symbols or otherwise. How about the Crusaders and iconography that denotes sect.
He stepped out casually his rapier on his shoulder. "Well isn't this the sight 6 heroic crusaders standing around a beaten woman. I thought I was the one that would break the rules. Well lads just a thought usually sacrifices are made by the willing and . . . well the cause seems a little less wholesome than 'GOOD' if its forced from a ladies hand at the point of a sword."

"You have it backwards, soldier. We crusaders are called to sacrifice ourselves for the good of the citizens, not the other way around," said Damon as he strode forward and joined Roscoe. With his hand on the hilt of Radiance and a stern look on his face, he commanded, "Stand down and identify yourselves so that I may teach you the error of your ways!"

Two of the crusaders looked at the group and ran away from the scene. The kneeling woman whimpered. One of the crusaders lifted her sword to strike the woman but turned to Damon, "It's a well known fact that sheathing your sword in virgin's blood brings luck."
He signaled with his hands, "Look around you, man. The demons are on the loose and we need all the luck to even survive."
She smiled, her feverish eyes seeming to pop out of her head, "Look, I'll even let you sheathe your blade in her blood once I'm done..."

Horrified at the depth the the soldier's depravity, Damon forsook any clever strategies or speeches and drew his sword as he charged at the evil and apparently insane swordswoman, a cry to Iomedae on his lips! Skidding to a halt protectively over the crying victim, he said, "You'll have to go through me first."
(Depending how close he got while speaking, Damon will probably need to Dash to make it there in one turn. If he can make it in one movement, he will instead use the Dodge action as he stands over the defenseless innocent.)
| Roscoe Tosscobble |
"If you'd fight demons go find some. If you think killing her will help kill yourself because the demons are much closer than you think."
Roscoe moves forward as well.
He doesn't go all the way he will take a move action and if the crusaders don't stand down he will Sacred Flame the nearest crusader to the woman not standing down.

Stella, hearing the crazy words from the "crusaders", decided to take the matter into her own hands before something terrible happened to the innocent woman. Coming out into the street, Stella launched some of her magic at the group in an attempt to protect the woman.
Option #1: If possible I'd like to use entangle to get most or all of the crusaders within its AoE without getting the innocent woman trapped in its area. (DC 13 STR save)
Option #2: If option #1 is not possible, then Stella will use Produce Flame to throw a ball of flame at the lead crusader, aiming at their feet in an attempt to scare them off or at least make them back away from the woman
Option #2 Produce Flame attack roll if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Option #2 Intimidation if needed if needed: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Damon charged across the intervening gap, ready to sacrifice himself to protect the innocent woman. Shield angled to deflect any incoming blows as he passes by the other enemies, the young Paladin moved as fast as he could, but the writhing vines slowed him down (move and dash one space south then as far east as possible).
Realizing he would not get there in time, the desperate crusader sent a plea to Iomedae to protect the helpless woman (Bonus action to cast oath spell — Sanctuary — on her. Wisdom save DC 13 or aggressors are unable to attack her).
