Vangral

"That is certainly my vote, dear Orin. I believe we've learned all we can in this room," Vangral says.
"Quite ambitious trying to replicate such an unusual demonic ability. You'd think he'd stick with generating fire or having a beard that can stab people...or is that a devil?"
The Ghost Writer

"I will gladly accept your elixir. Would you care for an oil of magic weapon for those falcatas of yours? I have one to spare."

Clawed limbs, scaly torsos, and other large body parts hang from large hooks connected to the ceiling by thick chains. Along the walls, large canisters and jars hold dozens of smaller body parts suspended in clear liquid.
A wand of sleet storm (10 charges) in this room recharges the magic that keeps the room cold for months at a time.

”Hmmm ... Look there: Most of the pieces are from demons.
Although most of the parts come from dretches, vermleks, babaus, and other relatively weak demons, there are also several samples from a hezrou, a nabasu, and a glabrezu!“
Toral is shocked.
He looks at their Pathfinder companion that is now partly a demon.
”I have to admit that I thought you are a demon. But this here shows that you surely were not the first experiment of this vile dwarf!!“
Toral casts detect magic and scans the room.
He then takes the wand.

"Those are some impressive trophies. I cannot condone what he's done with them, but I must respect a man who can and does slay such powerful forces of evil. If I thought he was doing his experiments to do further good, I might even be able to forgive him for their gruesome nature," Vangral says as the nature of the body parts is revealed.
Fifi Vanaash
|
Fifi gasps loudly when Toral reveals the nature of the demons-"Such powerful creatures! However...I must disagree, Vangral. What good could come off such vile experiments? I will be the first to admit the world is not all black and white. But what outcome would be so beneficial to justify kidnapping people, and turning them into demons against their will? The poor elf back there, and not to mention Valais, and maybe those things in the vats."-she says shuddering, her flame shaking a little bit.
"Even if such experiments would take down the Aspis, I cannot accept it. The lesser of two evils is one thing, but what this man has done is vile, cruel and despicable."-she says clenching her scimitar as some sparks start flying off the handle.
| GM Watery Soup |
Ghostwriter finds nothing else in the room.
”I have to admit that I thought you are a demon. But this here shows that you surely were not the first experiment of this vile dwarf!!“
"Yes," Valais confirms. "THIS IS WHERE GREATNESS RESIDES. This is where you shall one day reside."
The Ghost Writer

Two different demons in her, and they both seem to be jerks. Who would ha e guessed.
"Yes, yes, greatness resides and all that. The sooner we explore this place, the sooner we can go. Let's keep moving."
Fifi Vanaash
|
Fifi makes note of the demons Toral mentioned, and proceeds to go back the way they came from, and into the opposite door going to the east. She says-"Thurl might still be here, so we must make sure we don't leave any escape routes for him."-brandishing her scimitar and opening the door.

How does East sound?
Like "beast" without the "b." But it's also as good a choice as the other.
"May I commend you on your self control, Madame Valais," Vangral says after the latest outburst. "If your unwanted 'guests' are able to enforce enough control to speak when you don't want them to, I can only assume they are trying to perform other activities, as well. I for one, appreciate the fact that you haven't tried to stab me in the back, strangle me, or devour my still living flesh."
He wanders along with the group almost aimlessly as he speaks.

You don't have to be so suspicious! Sure, you're in a labyrinth-protected torture dungeon-shaped theater of horrors with a Frankensteined half-human half-demon creation of a twisted traitor, but sometimes a pool of water is just a pool of water.

Vangral
|
Vangral (and his player) suddenly realizes that there are no repeatable damaging spells available for him to learn.
He quickly cycles through his options and, though it feels like a bit of a waste when there are potentially larger dangers, he realizes that many of the other things he might face down here will be immune to it, settles on one.
Taking a careful step back he places his thumbs together and fans his fingers out. A few arcane words and a fan of fire ripples out to wash over the ooze.

Fifi unleashes a bolt of fire, which sizzles as it burns the ooze.
Ghostwriter pulls out his bow and puts an arrow between what looks like its eyes are. Unfortunately, there's no real defining features to target. Correct, immune to crits.

As Orin moves into the room, he realizes that the water is deep ... very deep. The water is 8 feet deep inside the room; it's calm, so it's going to be a DC 10 Swim check to move through it.
I'll leave it there before I resolve any AoOs/parries/ripostes, as Orin may move differently or be underwater (which may affect his ability to parry ... I haven't looked up the rules.).
The Ghost Writer
|
A creature is allowed to squeeze through a tight space. They just take a -4 to AC and attack rolls and move at half speed. No Escape artist needed. On the other hand, considering that an ooze is basically just an amalagation of cells, I probably wouldn't even give them those penalties. It's not a solid 10 X 10 cube (I mean there is an ooze that is exactly that), it's a bunch of liquid slime that should be able to flow around obstacles.

A creature is allowed to squeeze through a tight space. They just take a -4 to AC and attack rolls and move at half speed. No Escape artist needed.
I went to d20pfsrd to quote the section I looked up, but I see where my misunderstanding is - a create has to make an Escape Artist check if it's less than half its width, not half its width. This is my mistake; however, given action has already occurred, I suggest we move forward as is. The blob is supposed to be a guardian for the room, anyway, so chasing you guys through the corridor may not be in character even if it physically can.
Fifi Vanaash
|
Fifi moves in and continues her assault of fire projectiles-"I agree the wise choice would be to fall back, but the creature seems to be defending this place. If we wish not to be outflanked as we move deeper into the compound, we must deal with it, water or nooOT!"-she says as she yells, perhaps recognizing it's not very wise to walk down stairs with water wearing a skirt.
She goes for another fire bolt!

Vangral

Vangral pulls out his bow and an arrow. It is pretty obvious by the way his tongue is sticking out of his mouth in concentration as he knocks the missile that he hasn't used it very often.
But he doesn't fire. Instead, he does something that he suspects will not be much more effective against a (probably) mindless pile of animated gunk.
He can barely see it but throws a fierce, unsettling glare at the creature.
Evil Eye: -2 to hit for 8 turns or 1 turn if it succeeds a DC16 Will save. It's a mind affecting effect.
| GM Watery Soup |
Orin moves into the water. The blob swings at him as he swims by, but Orin parries and ripostes.
Toral remembers these creatures. They're called globsters, and they're immune to acid, bludgeoning and piercing damage, and can resist cold and electricity. His spiritual weapon slashes the globster.
Fifi sends a bolt of fire into the water ...
Caster Level Check vs DC 20+spell level: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

You'll need a swim check in the room proper - the last stairs square / first flooded square is still walkable.
Patros slips and begins sinking. You have 2*CON breath left, every round that you don't make a Swim check counts as 1 breath, and every round that you attack will cost 1 breath. You are flat-footed and take a -2 to make a piercing attack (in addition to a -2 for slashing and bludgeoning attacks, which you take whether you make the Swim check or not). See Aquatic Terrain for details.
Patros still manages to stab the globster.

Is the creature actually immune to piercing attacks? Bows are piercing so my initial hit shouldn't have done any damage but it looks like you counted it. And are we factoring in that slashing weapons deal 1/2 damage and have a -2 penalty to hit when attacking something underwater, and that swimming creatures have improved cover against creatures on land or we hand waving underwater combat rules? It looks like we're following the rules on how fire interacts underwater, but not the other parts, but I just wanted to clarify what rules we're following before deciding my action.
| GM Watery Soup |
We are following the underwater rules when I get the underwater rules right, and the globster is only immune to piercing when I remember it.
