Mori Kichiro |
I suppose the other thing we need to do is sell off the wine and linen we got from the ogre. Kichiro could work on that.
The Lost Voice |
Alright, let's take a bird's-eye abstracted view of the start of the day and we can zoom in as we run into issues.
As you arrived in the evening of the previous day, let's start with Gather Information rolls from each of you and what you're focusing on, if anything.
The Lost Voice |
Time: 1d4 ⇒ 2
That scouting took two hours for Kichiro to get the general lay of the Inner Ring, with a couple of places earmarked for the both of you.
The Lost Voice |
That's a bit more granular than I feel you need to get at present. Kichiro has money, food is plentiful(...), and there is nothing impeding his acquisition of it. You could count each meal as having twice the cost, if you want to represent the consumption.
That would mean that Survival successes would need to be enough to feed three people or Kichiro will have to mark off a ration to offset it, his eating habits are a bit distinctive, and when pressed it could be an option, but I'd also allow that to offset the hunger increase by 1 point bringing it to.. @15, I believe?
Mori Kichiro |
Just counting him as two people for how much he eats sounds like an easy and quick way of representing things. :)
The save DC for to avoid attacking randomly is 12 right now, and 10+the number of times he's cast in a day to avoid the addiction.
Mori Kichiro |
Thinking about things, darkleaf cloth leather lamellar armor would be more appropriate to the area we're in. :D Would that be available here? Otherwise Kichiro will probably just go for masterwork leather lamellar.
The Lost Voice |
Around Hihibo, you're correct in that you'll find more metal applied to things than you might find in say, Miumi. They've got the availability and price to experiment with (or refine) ideas that would be too costly elsewhere. That armor idea works, though you'll find metal-exclusive items at ~5% cheaper, if that makes a difference.
Mori Kichiro |
Even with that the darkleaf cloth is cheaper. And I do feel like leather lamellar is more thematic than a chain shirt, so I'll probably go with that.
The Lost Voice |
The shopping can be done in an abstract sense, as that is something that would be easily available. Interaction and exploration would require more focus. The (most immediate) notable points in your stay would be:
• Satoshi's Crafting
• Your presence as newcomers
There are a couple things that could become/are becoming available depending on how the two of you go about it, but those two are foremost. There are a couple of threads that the two of you have, but neither of you have tugged on them yet.
Mori Satoshi |
Satoshi is likely to zone out a bit as he gets into crafting.
His oddly rapid construction of a rickety but functional alchemically-propelled rickshaw might attract some attention though, which he will likely be oblivious to unless specifically pointed out.
Mori Kichiro |
I feel like Kichiro has been deliberately ignoring all possible plot hooks. XD Maybe I need to tweak how I'm writing him...
The Lost Voice |
No worries about that. It is to be expected, really. The two of them have one goal in mind— figuring out what happened and how to deal with it. Investigating anything else that doesn't collide with them would be a distraction, and they've got enough. It doesn't mean that there aren't threads to pull, but there is no reason that you have to pull them.
Speaking of, there were a few other things that the Ogre had that have not been addressed, if I remember correctly?
Mori Kichiro |
I suppose if we wanted a diversion here, Satoshi's invention getting stolen could keep us busy for a while. :D
Mori Satoshi |
Satoshi does not have the best security credentials. At least not yet. Give him a few more levels and he'll figure out 'cover it in traps' at least.
Right now his best defense is that Technicians fall more on the Mad Scientist as opposed to Practical Engineer side of inventing, and their Inventions are inevitably confusing to operate and terribly unergonomic for anyone who isn't a Technician.
That said, the existence of Insights that allow for overcoming those issues, and the fact that Inventions still count as non-magical, does prove that they are in fact using real (if soft) science, and they are theoretically replicable.
Mori Kichiro |
I'd say right now we could probably skip ahead to either leaving town or some complication that will prvent us from leaving town immediately. :D
The Lost Voice |
Did you want to detail the tavern Kichiro found? I didn't know whether you were going to, or wanted me to do so.
Mori Kichiro |
Honestly I'd been planning on skipping the tavern entirely. I kind of want a break from the slice-of-life pace right now.
Mori Kichiro |
I don't think I've shown you this artwork I got of Kichiro yet. :)
The Lost Voice |
That fits. I was wondering about the "terribly lean because of Hunger", and did not expect the "Chonk to keep the Hunger away". I like.
Mori Kichiro |
Yeah, I imagine that his metabolism *is* kind of crazy thanks to the Hunger... but he's overeating so massively he's still getting a bit chunky regardless. :D This picture is kind of a bit future for him, still--he's only got two tails right now (or two branches of his tail, given how it's working).
The Lost Voice |
So the questions to be addressed are:
- How to proceed? Allow time to hunt or travel all day?
- Next destination?
- Would one of you roll a d10 to determine what occurs on this day?
Mori Kichiro |
1d10 ⇒ 6
To be honest I don't remember what the map said was next along our path.
Kichiro is voting to hunt along the way.
Mori Kichiro |
Well, at present he'd have a +12 to Acrobatics for jumping, so taking 10 would get him five feet up, plus being Large so his body is longer.
The Lost Voice |
So, as far as I understand things, the intent was leaving Morinoya to understand what was going on. Hihibo was the first notable stop, but is there still a grand destination?
Mori Kichiro |
Our eventual goal was to contact Guoten Shuma, head priest of the temple at Sakakabe, who was Chieko's teacher.
Mori Kichiro |
I don't know, you could always have some ninjas burst through the door and attack. :D
(To be more serious, I would be interested in some kind of event in town here)
Mori Kichiro |
Hmm... should we narrate ourselves along a little more in situations like this? Like go ahead and say we went up to the desk and paid for entry into the onsen?
The Lost Voice |
That is a good suggestion, to be honest. It does facilitate the narrative flow as chunks of (non-combat)actions that typically don't necessarily have a visible [Event] trigger. I do have a few things set up, but I am working on simply posting without building up a block of text for the flow. You've got good timing though. There should be a post up near this time, and we can adapt going forward.
My work schedule has changed somewhat, as I am effectively at and starting work at 3am, finishing by noon. I do have near the weekend off, but I really have just been adjusting, and that's on me for not communicating that. Apologies.
Mori Kichiro |
One point of clarification, when you say "the recent bruise with a trace of spirit" is spirit here a trace of alcoholic spirits or is Kichiro scenting a remnant of an incorporeal being?
