Maybe, maybe. We're just looking for a bit of Open Road.
"I see. What brings you here to my shop?"
someone want to make a Diplomacy check?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
rolling for Jastrokan to speed up the game with auto assist from Todd
Jastrokan talks to her as well. And she smiles.
"Oh I like what you're saying!" She says. She whispers loudly "This lad here is sorry and sad and oft to tell a porky pie or slash you with his ivory band or take your life with a Drum and Fife."

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Rosie eyes the customer the lady's talking to, then smiles at Pemak and gestures to the shop. "I'd like to see your wares, please. Help me out inside? Can't shop in the street, after all!"
She smiles at the other customer. "You don't mind, do ya' pal?"

![]() |

Jastrokan nods. "Ah, I see...." He acts like he has no idea what this crazy lady's talking about. "Yes, gotta get those... bands and things..."
Bluff to play dumb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Then he takes a step back, letting Rosie sweep the shopkeep away to safety. He catches his companion's eyes, then gestures at the customer and waggles his eyebrows -- trying to hint to his friends that this customer is trouble and maybe even the killer.
He grins at the customer. "Hey! I know you! Hmm... Or do I? Have we met? Maybe this morning?"
Bluff to pass a secret message to his friends: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

![]() |

Todd stands a little straighter as he understands the message passed on by Jastrokan. His hand gravitates to the hilt of his rapier, but only rests on it. Instead of drawing he takes note of anything else out of the ordinary, in case there's more bad guys in wait.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

![]() |

Rasil is instantly on guard. So far, their foe has been a few steps ahead... but it was possible they had finally made up that ground, if Pemak was still alive.
Which meant anyone else could be their poisoner.
Or Pemak was.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Hmm... seems legit to me! =)
Still... one did not conduct business in the alley outside their own shop.
He scans the area with a keen eye, starting with the other 'customer', then anyone else nearby.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

![]() |

The man walks over towards Jastrokan and holds his hands out palms up, as if to say "I don't know".
"I'm not sure buddy? Where you at the Prancing Pony bar?"
Instantly his hand "turns" into a grey claw and he swipes at the gnome.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
rolling for Todd
SM: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Seeing this Pemak shouts.
"Watch out!"
surprise round - Jastrokan and Rosie can act,

![]() |

Jastrokan takes a quick five-foot step back and whips out a paintbrush! With a flourish, he mimics painting a picture in the air, which leaves a trail of magical colors streaking through the air. He paints a picture of his companions beating up the customer -- art that vanishes as fast as it appears. While he paints, he describes his art.
"A stroke here, a stroke there -- a bit of embellishment here and -- Oh, yeah, I'm seeing it now! A masterpiece!"
Jastrokan's art makes everyone feel a bit stronger!
Five foot step and using his raging song to perform controlled inspired rage. His allies get +2 Strength as long as Jastrokan performs. All references to a paint brush are just flavour. If that's a problem he'll instead 'finger paint' in the air. Allies only need to be able to hear him for his song to work.

botting Rosie
The small monk strengthened by the gnome's song steps up and attacks the stranger.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
FULL ROUND botting her
She then flurries.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Both the monks fist punch into the stranger and connect.
round 1 rest of party is up

Could Rosie 5' step to her right, during all that?
Rasil starts to circle around the attacker, sickle in hand, a second one soon joining the first.
He slashes at the man's legs, trying to keep him from running, more than kill him. They needed some answers.
attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17, for 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10 damage.
If Rosie 5' steps, then add 2 to the attack (for flanking), and 1d6 to the damage (for sneak attack)
Wow, I've really been all about low numbers this scenario

Linka takes a step back and shakes a small vial.

Precise Bombs to exclude her allies

Her toss goes wide and lands at Rasil's feet.
DC 15 Reflex for Rasil, Todd, and bad guy for half damage from splash, 6 full
Linka hisses, Sorry

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Despite the sudden fire that springs up around the fight, Todd grits his teeth and pulls his rapier. Noticing what Rasil was trying to do, and just the right height to help, the Grippli went for the kneecaps.
Rapier: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

![]() |

Point blank shot damage does not apply to splash damage... so would it only be 5?
Either way, Rasil has fire resistance 7... so he'll be fine! He's the best person to bomb around.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
wow, my poor rolls continue!
Rasil completely ignores the flames that lap around his legs, impervious to such minor burns.

![]() |

So it is, 5 full/2 half. I noticed I didn't actually type in my to hit bonus, but that would only bring the total to 5 so the result is the same.

![]() |

Jastrokan keeps painting the air. "Yeah, we're getting stronger now!" Maintaining his performance. +2 Strength everyone.
Jastrokan pulls out a wand and uses it on himself.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

You could just describe your wands as paintbrushes. =)
They basically are, with just bristles on one end. (my dad paints (oils on canvas) as a hobby, so have seen many types!)
Two birds, one stone!

![]() |

The stranger turns his "claws" on the Tiefling.
"Meddlers you'll pay!"
He attacks.

Party is up again!

![]() |

Rasil grunts, as one of the strangers claws tears a gash along his chest.
He gets a brim look in his eye, as he continues to circle around their foe until he is flanking with Rosie.
You realize he has a second sickle-like blade in his hand now, and he uses both, slicing through the air with deadly precision.
I hope! 5' step. Dual wielding, full attack.
main, inspire, flank, dual wield: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 26, for 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + (3) = 12 damage.
offhand, inspire, flank, dual wield: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 29, for 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (1) = 7 damage.
wow, a change in the trend!
confirm?: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 11, for an additional 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage
but only briefly

![]() |

Todd takes a 5-foot step towards Rosie and attempts to skewer their opponent once again.

Precise bombs to exclude allies
This time Linka lobs the bomb over Todd's head, landing it directly on the man's head. A little flick of her wrist ensures that the ensuing explosion doesn't touch her new friends.

Jastrokan continues his magnificent magical painting, +2 Strength, and uses his wand on himself again.
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Rosie unleashes a flurry of kicks on the bad guy! "Take THAT!"
Flurry of Blows 1 (with stunning fist): 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 + 2 = 19
B Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4 Plus DC 13 Fort or stunned 1 round.

B Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7

The combat overwhelms the stranger. Linka's grenade and Rosie's kicks drop him. He collapses from the wounds. Although "he" appeared to be a half elf. His face now is grayish humanoid creature seems almost unfinished, with a narrow head, gaunt limbs, and a sinister, noseless face.
Combat over!
Pemak cries. "Thank you! This "thing" had me marked for death I'm sure!"
Nice job guys. What do you guys do?

![]() |

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
A doppelganger? Why would one of those be here?

![]() |

[Dice=Knowledge (Arcana)]1d20+12
A doppelganger? Why would one of those be here?
Pemak points at the creature. "Him. His name is Ilchok. He enrolled in the Daggermark Assassin’s Guild a year ago, but the lazy doppelganger never covered his tracks properly after a kill, instead relying on his shapechanging ability to escape consequences after completing a contract.
But ultimately his sloppy technique overshadowed his talentfor subterfuge, so the Guild expelled him. I had heard
rumors that the doppelganger joined a cabal of Assassin’s
Guild defectors, though she wasn’t sure what they were up
to until now. What are you guys doing here?"

![]() |

Someone set him on several of our colleagues. We've been following his tracks, but a step too slowly until now. It still leaves the question of why was he doing this and who put him up to it.

![]() |

She turns to Linka. "I see...was anyone else hurt?"
meaning a formal assassination contract targeting him
was unlikely. Pemak has been asking after the thieves and tracked them back to some suspicious activity originating from Dripping Wall
Distillery, though she hasn’t yet investigated herself.
and considers him an approachable representative of
Daggermark’s military, pointing the the party toward his cottage
if they express an interest in speaking with him. If the party tell Pemak that Brandur was killed, she appears legitimately
troubled, explaining that Brandur was a cousin of Jallor
Clovesh, Daggermark’s top infantry commander, and his
death will likely raise concern throughout the city.

![]() |

"Yes, of course. Venture Captain Bosk, Bandur Clovesh, and a waitress at the Dripping Wall." He shakes his head. "Very sad."
"You said 'thieves?' What thieves? Were you robbed?"

![]() |

"Everyone's dead but you." Rasil growls. "Bastard had a list, crossing off names like he was shopping. Big question is, why were you all on the list."
moved everyone to Slide 2
"Pathfinders in Daggermark, any citizen can hire a student assassin once per year at a reasonable price. Only members of the military are exempt from these trainee contracts. A group of renegade Assassin’s Guild defectors called the Ghostknives sees the military exemption as a loophole it can use to overthrow the Guild and seize control of the city. Your venture captain, Timinic, and the others have been targeted by the Ghost knives. I would ask you to remove the leaders of the Ghost knives to keep the peace in Daggermark?
assuming you take the hook. she gives you a map in the sewers that Timinic, used and points to the HQ of the ghost knives.
let's try to speed things along

![]() |

"The Ghost Knives? Right! We'll get them."
Rosie looks at the map. "Let's use the Dripping Wall Distillery entrance. Kay?" Or another entrance if it looks better.

![]() |

To the sewers then. Did anyone check the assassin to make sure he won't follow us? Or if he has anything interesting in his pockets?
Don't forget, you can use the Heal skill untrained. D20 plus your wisdom

Searching the body the party finds a potion of invisibility, a sample of dark reaver powder, a pearl earring (worth 40 gp) and 10 gp.
if someone didn't stabilize the doppleganger, he would have bled out by now.

![]() |

"To the sewers!"
Does someone in melee more want the potion of invisibility? Maybe Rasil since he's a slayer?

![]() |

Ooh, forgot about him. Hmm, invisibility doesn't do me much good. Rasil does seem the type to sneak up on people. The poison must be ingested so it won't do us any good, but we may as well bring it along.

![]() |

"A potion would be a fine place to put it then." Rasil says, turning down the offered poison.
He draws the twin blades on his belt.
"I prefer they see me coming."
Though I probably should at least heal the damage from earlier. =)
Assuming some friendly person can utilize his wand...

you guys didn't move your tokens? You're on Slide 2
The sound of rushing water echoes throughout this dank cistern as
sleet-filled runoff pours in from northern, eastern, and southern
channels before emptying through an outlet in the northeast
corner. Stone walkways line the walls, with a large platform jutting
out into the center of the room. Seven coffin-sized crates float on
the water, tethered to the platform’s railings by short chains.
From where you are, Linka and the party spot a violet fungus lurking in the water near the rowboats.
what do you do?

![]() |

"Odd place to store goods." Rasil says, quietly, eyeing the crates floating in the filthy water.
When the fungi is mentioned, he frowns.
Knowledge (dungeoneering) re: violet fungi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
"Where there's one, there's likely more."
He immediately turns his attention to the water, trying to see if there are more of them lurking.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
"That way appears blocked." He adds, noticing the way to the north seems unsafe. "Might have to take the long way around." He points in the direction of Rosie.
How bad is that bit to the north?

![]() |

Since Rasil points out the north way is blocked, Rosie scampers off to the south, keeping an eye out for trouble, weird fungi things, and traps...

Jastrokan uses Rasil's wand on him, then pulls out his own wand and heals himself with it.
Healing Jasrokan: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He draws a magical painting in the air, making himself look healthier. Casting resistance.
Seeing the way north blocked and his sister heading the long way, he gets a running start and tries to hop over the sewer channel so he can get on the other side.

![]() |

Linka moves up between Rosie and Jasrokan, trying to get a better look at the fungus.
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

How bad is that bit to the north?
it's difficult terrain.
The party doesn't see any other plants in the dirty water.
Linka knows the creature is a violet fungus
no one moved quietly :)
I'll count that as party acting in combat. since you guys didn't attack it first, knowing it was there
combat
Hearing the party move through the sewers, causes the plant to move towards Rastil in search of food.
it double moves
