GM Crunch |
The hag looks to flee, but your assembled attacks bring her down! She dissolves, trying to curse you in her death throes like the other foes of this forest.
The green scarf from the bag of relics rises out and emits a pulse of warm green light. It falls back to the ground, and a small man with mossy skin, a conical hat, and no facial features pops out. He speaks in Tien, but his voice echoes, and one such echo is in Taldane. "I thank you, Trail Seekers. Without your help, I would not have been returned to my ward. Not to mention you destroyed the last evil around here for some time." He turns to the spot where the hag fell. "Please take your possessions back, as I no longer have need for them. They may be even more storied now than ever. Know you have my everlasting goodwill as well."
Combat over!
Vilkik Birdsong |
Vilkik lowers her katana, sweating and still feeling weak. "Yes, master Sun Fire, we did!" She looks towards the others "Is anyone hurt? What about the artifacts?"
Vilkik would lay on hands on and use Medicine to heal anyone hurt from the encounter.
Medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Bellamin Pegason |
Bellamin relaxes his stance and looks around, smiling. "Yes, well done, everyone! Do not worry about the artifacts, I will gather them up," he says, proceeding to do just that.
GM Crunch |
The spirit chuckles slightly. "I am the self-appointed guardian of this place. It is where I was born, where I died and returned as a part of it. And my story...I won't inflict that on my saviors, by way of word or memory. But suffice to say I left the forest in your scarf, and stayed away far longer than I anticipated. I knew it was better to stay inside and wait. As you can see, those who came before saw me returned, using your valiant hands."
When you leave the glade, it is with an air of finality. "But know all other forests will know my presence with you," the kami intones as you walk away. Now all that remains is to return with the caravan to Basaru, then Sakakabe where Amara Li anxiously waits.
That's getting close to a wrap! If you have any questions or back-and-forth with the kodama (I added a picture to the slides), the caravan leaders, the people of Basaru, or Amara Li, please do toss them in the ring.
Riff the Goblin |
Riff bows to the spirit before they depart, having no other questions. He sticks his tongue out at the remains of the oni, still mad that he had allowed himself to be fooled.
no other questions here!

"My name? I have long since outgrown it, and only on same days do I feel the need to remember," the spirit says.
"And worry not, I don't need the artifacts. I have been inside one of them for quite some time. Their return to the Dragon Empires allowed me to come back to this, my seat of power. That silly fox was no plan of mine, just a selfish thief! But when he took me from your friends and derailed my journey back, I subtly nudged his progress as I did with the caravan. All benign, but I do apologize for the inconvenience. Hopefully the Forest of Spirits being once again rid of blight will console you."
The people of Basaru are overjoyed that there will be no more attacks, and send you off with fanfare. The journey back to Sakakabe feels much quicker without any nebulous threats pressing you onward. Amara Li is quickly summoned when you return to the Lodge-in-progress. "The caravan is here. So my hopes are high for your report, Pathfinders, and my thanks. Now, what exactly was the matter?"
