Actually it's more like 2 months. His last post to this game was on February the 3rd. I just PM'd him, but I think we could safely say his character is 'keeping watch back at the entrance to the library' and move on. If or when he shows back up he can just rejoin the party then.

Akter's first shot hits and takes out the Red lion. His second shot strikes Blue, but does not take it out.

Akter attacks again, insisting on the red enemy first.
Um, about that.... If this is Round 2, and the walls have been put up, Akter needs to make the save (Will DC 17) as well otherwise everything on the other side has total cover just like a real wall, or closed door. Faeria, (or anyone in the illusion who believes in its reality) could open one of the doors for you, if you like. Again, like a real door.

![]() |

Will DC 17: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Ahmande has no idea what is going on. "Faeria... what have you done?!" He keeps up his performance, inspiring any who can make sense of what is happening. He drops his longsword and knocks an arrow, ready to fire if he should see a lion appear.

Clever. Deciding to keep up the illusion in the hopes of confusing the lions, Iladora goes through the "door" to reach the remaining one.

"Hm? Oh, this was where I was standing a moment ago." She reaches out a hand to poke Ahmandé with to make sure he isn't simply part of Akter's contagious 'talking wall-lion-thing hallucination.

"Bad dog! That's a wall!" scolds Faeria.
blinding ray v blue dogo (ranged touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
As a standard action you can fire a shimmering ray at any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The ray causes creatures to be blinded for 1 round. Creatures with more Hit Dice than your wizard level are dazzled for 1 round instead. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.
This breaks her concentration on the illusion, but...
Any illusion spell you cast with a duration of “concentration” lasts a number of additional rounds equal to 1/2 your wizard level after you stop maintaining concentration (minimum +1 round).

![]() |

All this talk of illusion, and was that a lion's jaws that just popped through the wall there?
Will DC 17: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"Never mind these strange visions of the mind... be they illusion or something else, Pathfinders overcome worse! Keep fighting; we'll destroy them all!" The point of Ahmande's arrow darts one way and the next as he looks for any sign of a lion to fire at.

The illusion of the hallway fades.

GM Ietsuna |

Beneath one of the lions you find a clue Cryptic References added to slides

GM Ietsuna |

Ummm, the tracking of time is a part of the challenge of this scenario. That being said it is hard to convey that in PbP so I will tell you the you have been down here around 100 minutes

![]() |

"Well, so much for solving that riddle. What's behind the door? We need to start hurrying; we don't have much time left."
That all happened because Faeria opened a door; what was behind the door?

GM Ietsuna |

Looking beyond the secret door that Faeria opened you see a room.
Chests of expert craftsmanship line the walls, and on the far side of the room stand two bookshelves burdened with yellow-paged tomes and sundry ancient trinkets. Banners and tapestries cover nearly every inch of the walls, each representing long-dead nations or depicting conflicts left not chronicled.
This is a medium room. Standard literary skills can be used to search the room, but remember you have around 20 minutes left here. If 3 of you search it would take 20 minutes, if 4 of you search it will take 15 minutes.

![]() |

The room appears to still be covered on the map....
Ahmande agrees. "Yes, four of us should search... and then we might have to think about heading back up, so our absence isn't noted. There are probably rooms we'll have to miss, unless the others want to try to quickly investigate those?"
I don't think the clues have been speeding up the searches, but making them more effective makes the time more fruitful. Everyone who searches should use a clue; we have plenty.
Ahmande gets down to business, clearly in his element. He points out to everyone that the alphabetization used here seems similar to that in the music room. Using the Esoteric Alphabetization clue to grant everyone a +2 bonus to find texts in this room.
Knowledge (history), esoteric alphabetization: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 2 = 26

![]() |

Faeria is the least useful searcher by far, so instead she heads out to open the door she thought she was opening when this last door opened, while others search.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Keeps at that door. It has just gotta open.

![]() |

Faeria moves over and tries the wall. You know, just in case.

![]() |

Derp. I forgot, I actually have a rank in Linguistics so I could have been helping this whole time.
Suddenly remembering that she does, in fact, have a bit of experience reading books, Iladora helps search the room.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Unfortunately, like most of her attempts at things so far, it's to little avail.

![]() |

Akter approaches Ahmande and tries to lend his help searching.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 +2?
Should Iladora add +2 to her check too?
The knowledges I have if any are relevant: Knowledge (dungeoneering) +5, Knowledge (geography) +5, Knowledge (nature) +5, Knowledge (religion) +6

![]() |

Yes, Esoteric Alphabetization adds +2 to everyone's rolls. I'd also recommend that everyone choose an additional clue for another bonus to their rolls. We have a lot; I don't think we'll end up using them all unless we start using them agressively.

![]() |

Perhaps the floor in front of the door....

GM Ietsuna |

You find two more interesting texts in this room. Added to the slides. Lines of Succession and Grave Consequences
As you are finishing up your search you hear the music, which has been a constant far away presence as you have moved through the secret library swell. It is almost as if the musical performance is coming to a close.

![]() |

"Agreed. Hopefully what we've found is enough."
Ahmande helps to clean up any evidence of their combat, and the tracks as they return through the library.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

![]() |

{Starts kicking the door}

GM Ietsuna |

So you are heading back out the way you came? Cleaning up as you go?

![]() |

"I know you are a door, and because you are right in front of me, I know you can hear me!"

GM Ietsuna |

You make your way back to the receiving room within minutes. You enter the room, close the secret door and manage to be standing or sitting in place when Tobias knocks on the door and pokes his head inside. I must insist that your allotted time is up. Please follow me and leave the library immediately.
Venture-Captain Muesello excitedly welcomes you back and inquires what you were able to learn. Any hitherto unknown facts about the Shining Crusade excite him to no end.
Muesello sends the your discoveries about the Shining Crusade to the Grand Lodge, which studies them in detail, writes up a report, and sends it to Mendev in the hope of providing the Mendevian Crusade an extra edge
against the invasion that threatens all of Golarion.
We are done. Thanks all. You made it out without having to fight your way out. Good work. I will get chronicles and reporting sorted out. If you could assist by making sure your reporting information is in the thread I would be much obliged.
