Searching the remaining rooms on this level will be fairly quick (2-3 minutes) so no spells will expire.
A ship’s wheel and complex helm dominate the center of the posh office at the fore of the rambling fortress. Tall darkened windows look out over the landscape surrounding the Striding Fortress as it marches relentlessly through the briar.
Flanking the opulent pool chamber are a matching pair of machine rooms. They house the mechanisms that allow the Striding Fortress to walk, and the gears and pistons strain to match the current velocity setting.
Despite your efforts, it seems as if these rooms are not used very frequently (despite their purpose) and produce no useful items.

"...Speaking of magic, Sihir would you prefer that I turned off this light spell? I could take the buckler off and hide it away in case we need it again"
"Ah yes, that would be most welcome."
Once that is done, I will cast Tenebrous umbral weapon (CL 10th) on...whichever melee weapon we agree it would be best on. My thought was Not-Trixie's dagger, but we don't have much truck in this party with melee weapons that aren't already shadowy ephemera (I'd cast it on that if I could, but I'm not sure I can).
I might also raise a wall of nausea wherever it would be best to put it.

![]() |

I can't come up with a reason to disallow the umbral weapon to be cast on Leosa's Shadow weapon. Plus, it just seems cool. Although, initiative starts when he sees you coming up the stairs, so the wall will have to wait.
After casting their spells, the group nods and proceeds quickly up the stairs. The wraparound stairways give way to an immense library and observatory rising some eighty feet in the air. Shelves stuffed to bursting with tomes, scrolls, and loose scraps of paper line every surface, while bottles and obscure tools crowd tabletops. Towering stacks of books reach to the ceiling like parchment columns. In the center of the library, aimed into a tattered and torn silk tapestry, sits an immense metal telescope. The collected tokens in your pack pull themselves strongly in that very direction, almost stripping the pack from your body.
You can then feel a slight breeze in the room that turns a few of the pages below. Crackling with ancient energy that binds a quilted pattern of stitched-on hides covering his scales, the massive Zassrion hovers menacingly over a large desk and turns his large head to your entrance.
"You have finally arrived. The tale is soon complete. I am now nearly flesh enough to leave this prison, and your essences shall surely be enough for me to fulfill my destiny!"

Sihir has already rolled his knowledge check here, but the others can roll a knowledge arcana check.

Knowledge (arcana) vs DC 23: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
Not-Trixie's mind goes momentarily blank at the sight of the fearsome dragon. "Spread out!" she yells. "Don't let him catch us with his lightning breath!" Watching as Daedîn's arrows bounce off the dragon's hide, she frowns. Vendalfek, can you ask Psycho to help strip that dragon of any magical defenses? Plunging a hand into her pocket, the wizard quickly traces a magical glyph resembling a burst of light as she runs behind one of the tables. Above, a shower of golden particles explodes in the dragon's face.

Oh, and Not-Trixie asks if we can... STRIP HIM!? Really now, we just met him and you're jumping straight to that!? That's incredibly forward of you... Hang on, I'm getting another message... OH, you meant get rid of his magical defenses? Well then why didn't you just say so?

The invisibility purge would reveal poor Sihir. Also, I needed to roll will saves for the companions, if they are under 4 HD they are panicked.
Daedîn steps back to the wall and flashes off his arrows once again. The beast lengthens its neck (to full extension) and snaps his arm as he does so. Still the brave archer is able to place an arrow just under his left eye.
Leosa's shadowy conjuration forms behind the dragon and spits out a ray of light that sizzles against the flexing scales on its back. The wayang gloomblade follows through with several prospective prods that just scrape against its thick natural armor. The umbral nature of the weapon fades.
With a piercing stare, River forces doubt into the dragon's mind as to just how thick those scales really are. Not Trixie becomes slightly worried about how this is going, and tries to rearrange her repertoire.
The wayang illusionist is unable to make his newest spell work, but his previous one still does its job. As the dragon's body weakens, his mind erupts with Psycho's painful probings. The dragon watches her for a moment, then with a building sense of dread as to her mission, lashes out with a ferocious snap to try and end her. She persists.
Not-Trixie attempts to weaken Zassrion further, but his magical protections resist the degradation. Psycho Dread forces more pain into the dragon's skull, but the dragon winces through his assault.
Bite AOO vs Eska: 1d20 + 23 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 23 - 1 = 412d8 + 12 - 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 12 - 1 = 22

I suppose only a Wayang Illusionist could successfully roll Stealth against the DM....

Nodding gratefully to Eska, Daedîn drops his bow and makes a move to the east to flank the dragon, drawing his adamantine dagger as he goes. The rogue then tries to stick the dagger in the beast's backside...
Hope he doesn't have combat reflexes...
To hit: Base/Dex, MW, Hunter's Blessing, Haste
Damage: DEX, Hunter's Blessing, Sneak Attack
Adamantine Dagger: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 20
That won't do...using my folio re-roll...
Adamantine Dagger (Folio Re-roll): 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 37
Confirm: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 33
Adamantine/Critical/Sneak Damage: 2d4 + 14 + 4 + 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 14 + 4 + (2, 6, 3, 5) = 38 (26 if it doesn't confirm)

The dragon is 5 feet off the ground so can't be flanked. I'll let you reevaluate if you want to real quick and repost.

![]() |

Dang, my bad; I thought since I could reach him, I could flank him. I'll make a slight change; I'll still attack with my dagger, but I'll stay put and not risk him having Combat Reflexes. That should change my damage to 22 if the crit confirmed and 10 if it did not...

Vendalfek Will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Now frightened, the faerie dragon zips out of view of its terrifying cousin's deeds. Daedîn forgoes his bow and finds a nice spot between thick scales to slide his dagger into, letting the Patchwork Lord's blood stream down his outstretched arm.
Just as Zassrion the mighty is about to claw and batter those still around him in desperate rage, an inky ray of destruction connects Sihir to the dragon for a fleeting moment. It is just enough, however, to drain the remaining life force from the tyrant and drive him to the ground in a mangled heap.
Once the finality of the kill sets in, the tugging of the tokens in the backpack remind you of the remaining task at hand.
Combat Over!
Leosa <clay skin, stoneskin, see invisibility, darkvision 90 feet> -37 damage

Daedîn breathes a sigh of relief, retrieving his dagger from the fallen dragon, wiping it clean of any blood/gore, and sheathing it. He then picks up his bow...
The rogue nods to his companions. "Nice job everyone...River, thank you for sending Eska to me...without his healing, I might've been a goner..."
He'll search the dragon...and the surrounding area...
Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
Then, seeing as the tokens in the backpack tug in the direction of the torn tapestry...he takes the backpack next to the tapestry and opens it...and awaits to see if anything happens...

"Great team work, guys!"
Psycho tries to detect magic in room.

![]() |

Assuming you bring out a source of light to search about.
The tokens burst forth from the backpack when it nears the tattered remains of the scarf. One by one, they circle in the air, taking turns to weave themselves back into the kapenia perfectly. Once complete, the item shines as if brand new, and Psycho detects it as magical once again, as well as the telescope itself.
There is still a set of doors on the far wall. But the real question is, how do you get home?

After recovering from his moment's surprise at having felled the dragon with that, Sihir quickly examines the extraordinary scarf...
detect magic/Spellcraft: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
...and explains what it is capable of.

Arcana: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
"The telescope has strong auras of enchantment and divination."

Daedîn curiously eyes the kapenia becoming whole. ”Interesting...”
He then peers into the telescope.
The Elf arches an eyebrow as he turns to his friends. ”The telescope shows where our adventure first started...the tent of the All-Seeing Hajeck...but how do we return there?”

![]() |

Let's grab our friend from upstairs before we dig around too much. Wouldn't want to get sent home without him.

![]() |

"Vendalfek, get down from there." Not-Trixie's voice is slightly exasperated as she tries to coax her familiar down from atop the telescope where he cowers.
While Leosa retries the scholar, the wizard ponders the group's options. "Perhaps the trick's in the cards?" she suggests tentatively. "We haven't used all of them yet after all, and some of the names could be suggestive if memory serves." She glares back at the minuscule dragon atop the apparatus. "Of course, I can't verify that at the moment because someone won't come down." She huffs, then points at the large double doors. "We should probably investigate what's behind those as well. Who knows - perhaps our way home is through them instead of this telescope."

![]() |

"Maybe we can try to teleport to that place that we can see through the telescope. But I am not able to do so."

River rushes over to Eska to check on the bite, drawing his buckler as goes to light up the room.
Cure Light Wounds, Eska: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Cure Light Wounds, Eska: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
"Thank you Daedîn for bravely facing the beast."
He then starts tending to the injured as people begin investigating.
Cure Serious Wounds, Leosa: 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (7, 1, 1) + 10 = 19
Cure Serious Wounds, Leosa: 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) + 10 = 21
After that he looks around.
"I agree Not-Trixie, we should look at the other rooms. Perhaps the cards will help us return, perhaps the scarf if it is what's left of Sonnorae, perhaps both? Let's see what else is here then we can experiment"

![]() |

"Logic - certainly one line thereof, at least - would suggest we look to the beginning of our journey. How did we get here? I remember we started out near that Circus...."

![]() |

Not-Trixie spends quite a while searching through the cards. None seem to fit the current predicament.
After studying the telescope for some time, Psycho is confident his hunch is true. Combined with the telescope, any sort of teleportation magic should free you from the Harrowed Realm. Alternatively, Zassrion’s device could be tricked without the use of magic Use Magic Device check.
I'll also take a Spellcraft + Detect Magic to examine the harrow deck, telescope and kapenia as a set
10 of the art pieces would probably be worth something back in Golarion. The remainder of Zassrion’s hoard contains 348 pp, 2,872 gp, 10,132 sp, and 5,023 cp, plus 50 pounds of vanilla beans, a rug worth 350 gp, a +2 kukri, a +2 slick breastplate, 4 +3 flaming arrows, bracers of armor +2, boots of teleportation, a folding boat, a javelin of lightning, 6 potions of cure serious wounds, a ring of wizardry I, a scroll of blade barrier, a scroll of elemental body IV, a scroll of illusory wall, a divine wand of dismissal (with 12 charges remaining), and a wand of blur.
Leosa returns with a still quite anxious Meloigne Garracy, who views the downed dragon with a fluctuating combination of fear and delight. "Is it... is it time to go?"
