Backstory:

River of Stars grew up in the Shundar-Quah tribe high in the peaks of the Cinderlands of Varisia. A scrawny child with no skill with the klar he was apprenticed to Winter Eagle, the tribe shaman. He thrived under her tutelage and learned the secret ways of a shundar shaman.

One night while hunting with other youngsters his group became lost and were attacked by gargoyles. He led them back to camp by the light of the stars and earned his true name "River of Stars" along with his first tattoo. That night watching the stars he was approached by a strange star-kissed fox whose eyes shined with wisdom. He knew her name was Eska, and she has not left his side since.

On meeting Eska Winter Eagle proclaimed that River could learn no more from her, and that he must complete his training in the wider world. He must go forth and learn the five mysteries before he returned. She gave no detail on what they were, saying only that Eska would know when he had learned them all.

River of Stars now travels the world with Eska and the Pathfinder Society in search of these mysteries, hoping one day to return to the Shundar Quah to pass on what he has learned.
