While most of the Starfinders make their way through the scraps and try to improve the junkracers performance Nalotrunos and LevyIm abbreviating for easy typing try to sway the other racers to help their cause.
Lemgem is a blue-haired gnome covered in piercings, tattoos, and augmentations. A short conversation reveals she is obsessed with continual alterations to herself and her racer, to the point where her vehicle modifications skirt the bounds of common sense.
Orsis is a stoic, dark-haired lashunta who looks unfairly good in black and gold.
Ratrod is a ysoki with mottled gray-and-white fur. He has a showman’s personality to match his icon status. People in the Spike consider him something of a hero to the ysoki-dominated Scrap Union.
This ratfolk has no interest in talking to you, but is very intimidated by your stature.
Sucessful roll and he takes a –2 penalty to all rolls if Laboni is ahead of him, but gains a +1 morale bonus if he is ahead of Laboni.
Still bearing the scars of the fight that killed her dragonkin partner, Nyizin is a racer with an obvious death wish. Unstable black-market mods made of dragon bone and elemental energies fill Nyizin’s vehicle. So long as she is alive, she intends to win in honor of her fallen companion.
”I refuse to align with you during the race."She says.
”I will however tell you how to overload a junkracers engine. Nyizin explains in detail how to overload an engine to Levy
This modification allows you to press your engine during the race and double your
speed for one round, but there is a 50% chance the engine could have an internal malfunction on the next round that permanently reduces the vehicle’s base speed by half.

Having played this before with multiple GM's you're suppose to give the final stats of our Junkracer. Plus it makes it easier for people to roll piloting so they can include both their numbers and the ships numbers in the roll.

Can't believe no one RP'd to stop Nalo from taking a shot at Ratrod.
... The racer's motors wind up in a cloud of exhaust and dust. Nalo sights carefully along his barrel, the crowd oblivious to him in its excited focus on the track, watching for the first impulse that will speed the racers off their marks.
Exhaust spurred dust flirts with his nostrils; the tang of oil reminds him of robot matches. Their spilled oils stained the sand and clung there. Their odors remained for weeks. This is really just like the pits.
He points his rifle skyward, unfired. He clicks on the safety. What would the pits be if the spectators starting firing on the combatants? This must be won on the track.
Slinging his rifle he hustles back to stand behind the others.
"Mincey! Ratrod is the threat here. He wears the same fur as you, but he is your enemy. Don't forget it."
Seeing targeting display glitch, the vesk reaches forward and slams his fist down on top of it. The display clears.

Nice roll. You're not going to need aid with that.
Seeing that the track will dip out of sight in some places, Nalo looks around for some high ground. A truss supporting lights is nearby. He dashes over scrambles up some stacked machinery crates and shoulders a few spectators aside to step onto the first horizontal beam.

Um, I thought our laboni racer was 60/600 right now. Half speed would be 30/300. So how did we travel 400 feet in a round? We should be moving 600 feet every round, or 300 feet every round if we slow down. Putting us at 900 to 1200 feet.
GMGrumpelStiltzkin |
Yes you should be at 60/600 ft per round. I forgot to put that in the notes so I was updating off old information. So you should be at 1200ft now. Thanks for catching that. And no I haven’t found anything for shooting the target really well. There is a penalty for failing a piloting check by 10 or more though has a significant penalty.

All right. Seems you have a pretty good lead going on. I hate keeping everyone waiting on the sidelines while this is going on. I think if you have a successful pilot check on the next round then I will call it then. You would have a substantial lead and would have to really mess it up not to win. So one more round and then we can continue on from this.

With piloting skills like those then this race was easy.
With outstanding piloting skills the Starfinders help Laboni win the race with ease.
After crossing the finish line Laboni immediately approaches Ratrod.
”I apologize for me previous statements. Ratrods pride is clearly hurt as he says nothing with the gesture.
Winning the race satisfies Radaszam, when Laboni wins, the praise goes to her head and she becomes a regular competitor on Ratrod’s show. This twist in events provides the Starfinder Society with valuable contacts in the Salvage Union, leaving Radaszam both exasperated and vaguely amused at the result.
Treasure: The ysoki’s pride still hurts, but the gesture compels the Salvage Union to offer Laboni some extra payment in the form of collected gear, on top of the race’s prize money. In turn, Laboni presents you with a set of graphite carbon skin armor and 400 credits from the race’s prize pool.
Easy win everyone. That piloting paid off. Let me know where you wish to continue on to. We will continue there tomorrow.

Garbage litters the ground around the district’s largest art park—a cement lot filled with undulating metal sculptures and covered in graffiti of grotesquely adorable creatures. The
sounds of music and chatter drift over from the nearby clubs, chronically interrupted by the roar of the local gangsters’ engines. A heavily augmented host shirren is sitting on one of the park benches, eating a simple meal of cold grub-noodles and rice candy. Their antennae perk up at the tremor of approaching footsteps. “Welcome, new Starfinders! And congratulations!”
the shirren’s voice telepathically projects. “My speech-name is Zigvigix, but feel free to call me Ziggy, if that would be easier for you. Have some rice candy to celebrate your graduation!

“When you are ready, I have two assignments I could use assistance with. The first is to help me secure a new headquarters on Absalom Station. I’ve been in talks with our station’s protectors, the Stewards, and they were kind enough to give us ownership of a warehouse here in Downlow for that purpose! The current owners no longer want it because a vicious alien took it over and kills anyone who goes inside. Once the alien is gone and the warehouse cargo has been returned to its owners, we can start installing desks and computers, so please go in and incinerate the creature!
“My second assignment...” Zigvigix twitches their tooth barbs for a moment and then holds out a credstick. [b]“Please buy the brand-new Strawberry Machine Cake album, Star Sugar Heartlove!!!, which is out today, and give it to Historia-7 when you see her. She is the head of the Dataphiles, so you should meet her today! I wish to do it myself, but I... I have trouble standing for long periods of time. Thank you very much!”]/b]
Sorry for the wait, but it’s been a long week and will be a long month. Feel free to ask questions and decide which way you wish to go.
