I'd say dead bodies, if something goes wrong we have a bit of law protection in how we act, protect any civilians from dying

Kobold LN SOR 6, Small humanoid (reptilian) | 32/32 hp | AC 18 (T 14, FF 16) | CMB +1 | CMD 14 | F4/R5/W7, +4 vs sleep or paralysis | Init +2 | Perc +5 | Defenses Trap Sense +1, Resist Acid 5 | Breath 1/1 | Trap Rune 7/7 | Spells 1st 7/8, 2nd 6/6, 3rd 3/3 | 3/3 Lesser Piercing | Conditions: Invisibility, Levitation, Mage Armor

Knowing what's next based on local knowledge we failed our checks on - which I think has been covered - and safely reporting our concerns to the authorities so they can deal with the bodies without pursuing us as mass murderers - which is what I'm hoping we have now managed.

So Tarphrex is ready for rest and investigation of the clue provided about the clock.

We're discussing a lot about who to get help from.

I would like to know what (in general or exact) you want one or more of these organizations to help with.

Is it just clearing up the dead bodies?

*points to previous OOC post* Hit points? 'Tis important for leveling up.

Also, this month is going to be insane at school. I have so much work to do. So much. T_T So if I don't respond right away I'm okay, just swamped. Why did you think this class was a good idea, Past Me?

Regarding hit points, I found this this prior post that said to use PFS standard after first level. So - average, I think?

Good luck with the class - you will do fine.

Farmageddon

Sorry that I apparently missed something.

Yes to what Tarphrex said about using average hit points.
d10 = 6 hp
d8 = 5 hp
d6 = 4

Also, to those of you who have been reading my posts for a while and are thinking "This guy's spelling SUCKS."; rest assured that I already know that.

Now is the time to decide what to do next.

On to underbridge to find the clock tower?
Decipher the journal? (which will take days, probably)
Check other leads I have forgotten about?
Something else entirely? The Lord Mayor keeps a wonderful menagerie if you'd like to view exotic animals.

Could we ask Lady Heidmarch if the Pathfinders would have anyone skilled enough to decipher the journal?

Meanwhile the journal is hopefully being deciphered, we could investigate the clock tower.

Also, selling loot is what we should do.

Farmageddon

@Sherman: Without a doubt you can. Lady Heidmarch seems very serious when she says that they will handle it with the utmost care. She also mentions that the journal uses a mix of draconic, elven, and infernal, so now you know all the languages used in the cipher.

Selling and buying can easily be done at the Bazaar of Sails.

I do think the watching helped there because we were able to focus where we saw activity.

They were guiding the logs into the intake chute. Fairly common practice to clear out jams, then ride the log up into the room.

True, true. But as that will happen several months from now, we have all forgotten about the loot by then. For example, we not sold any loot from Foxglove manor, and I doubt anyone remembers what we would have.

I'm only slightly worried since Pathfinder as a system assumes certain amount of gear in it's math (to hit, AC, saves etc,etc...). As 6th level characters we should each have 16k gp worth of equipment as per WBL table, and I think only Quinn (being the recent addition) in anywhere close that.

Farmageddon

@Sherman:
Luckily, you have a wonderful, kind, amazing, spectacular, generous GM. So I'll go back through for "Treasure" sections.
(Feel free to add compliments)

Foxglove Townhouse: 200 pp and the deed for the townhouse.

Sawmill: Cultist gear: Leather armor, cultist's robes, basic clothes, masterwork war razors,, and their masks (which are magic and easily identified by Sherman as he techinically has one; Skinsaw Mask) ALL x12
A combined total of 250 gp
Ironbriar has a bit more on him. Nicer clothes (courtier's outfit), mithral chain shirt, +1 buckler, +1 shortsword, 1 dose of drow poison, a key, and a

Reaper's Mask:
The wearer of a reaper’s mask gains a +2 competence bonus on Perception checks made against creatures that aren’t immune to fear and a +1 profane bonus on damage with slashing weapons made against living creatures. The wearer can cast confusion twice per day (DC 16). When a reaper’s mask is donned, the wearer takes 1 point of Charisma damage.

Ironbriar's Office: The large footlocker is filled with oddments that Ironbriar has collected from his many victims over the years. A fair number are of a historical nature, including books, sea charts, etchings of vast rock formations and dolmens accompanied by maps, several pamphlets discussing a "forgotten" school of magic known as the Alchymyc, and a fine painting depicting a city carved from a vast frozen waterfall with towering ice cathedrals and domes (this painting is worth 200 gp).

Near the bottom are several books. The first of these is a wizard's spellbook emblazoned with two entwined snakes (one red, one green) that contains the following spells: blink, cat's grace, chill touch, enlarge person, fox's cunning, grease, haste, lightning bolt, mage armor, magic missile, scorching ray, shocking grasp, shrink item, spider climb, and web.

The second book is an old and beautifully filigreed tome containing numerous hand-drawn illustrations and titled
The Syrpents Tane: Fairy Tales of the Eldest.: This fine and rare tome is worth 500 gp.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

To augment the research by our beneficent GM, I found the following items in the Foxglove Manor

Small silver key ring (10 gp) with a tarnished iron key set with an opal (100 gp) and a smaller bronze key with an unusually long tang ending with a set of three notched blades. The head of this key resembles a roaring lion.

Non-magical rings (claimed by Tarphrex for his hoard)

Leather Armor +1
War razor +1
Stalker's Mask
Plain, unmarked, sturdy key
Chime of Opening (claimed by Tarphrex)

A fine, solid silver dinner set, with an exceptionally large salver and a dozen crystal decanters. The set, as a whole, would probably bring in around 1000 gp. (discussed that Tarphrex would keep it, I think we should sell it)

Zenaida found three garnets (100 gp each) that she mounted using the jeweler's tools and bench

Eight fine vintages of Vigardeis wine from Cheliax (100 gp each), found by Loth

Painting of a bullfight, "Throwdown in Swynetown," by Magnamarian artist Andosalu, known to Loth's family - worth several hundred gp and the artist would likely want it back

Alain found 20 pp and a copper key, matching a key found on Aldern's body earlier.

Books on Shoanti tribal cultures and history (determined by Zenaida to be drivel) and maps of mysterious realms and nautical charts.

Scroll cases containing maps

Scroll of Keen Edge
Scroll of Lightning Bolt

Full-length mirror in a dark wooden frame of coiling roses

Reward of 500 gp from City of Sandpoint

Farmageddon

And to that I say, "Thank you, Tarphrex."

Oh my god, what a week. Apparently I pushed myself way too hard with finals and my final project. Jumping right into holiday shopping and baking the next day was, in retrospect, not my brightest idea. I've had more migraines in the last week than I've had in the past three months.

But hey, I got an A-! So it worked and I'll probably do it again next semester.

@GM Sphen: I'm getting a certificate in GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Since I already have an undergrad, I get the dubious pleasure of taking the graduate level classes. My anniversary date for my current job is December 23. It was a Monday and the office was closed Tuesday and Wednesday. They offered to let me start (it was a small office) on Thursday, but I had been going stir-crazy without a job for over a month and I figured what better time to meet my new coworkers than the day before a two-day holiday? That was one of my better decisions. Taking the job in the first place was another - it's done right for me.

But I'm glad to hear you're ok. Get some rest. (And same to Tarphrex, even if it's not-so-serious illness)

Feel better everyone.

________

I'm going to share a story with you all. It has no connection to the game or anything recently, but it highlights the quality of friends in my IRL game.

One of my groups meets every other Sunday. We've been playing the Extinction Curse 2E adventure path, mostly online. My wife, brother-in-law, and I all at my house, 2 players 30 mintues away, 1 player 45 minutes away, 2 players 2.5 hours away. Big group.

Since last Spring, I've not been looking forward to the game sessions. I don't like 2E, and I don't like playing/GMing online. I'd already brought up my dissatisfaction with 2E to the group, and was out-voted, polietly. And I promised to not bring it up again. But I brought up to my wife that I wasn't enjoying our sessions. I considered leaving the group, but my wife said she would also leave the group if I did. While that would leave them at 6 people, more than enough for a group to work, it wouldn't be fair to my wife. So we sat on it and thought about it for a few months.

Not reaching any conclusions, I suggested asking aforementioned BIL for advice. Fresh eyes, sort of thing. Sadly, he had no advice to give except to mention that (by this point) we were barely meeting anyway, with people being busy. He asked if I left the group, would I start a new one? Would I invite any of the other players? I said I would start a new group but wouldn't feel good about poaching players.

But I sat on it some more. I told me wife that I would give it until the end of the year, and if we didn't meet before then, I was going to leave the group. I extended that another month because the holidays are always busy. And we only meet to play the AP once. We did, just before Christmas break, meet and have one of the other players run a short one-shot session. And that was fun.

The next day, he was messaging me about good APs to run that can be done in between if we can't meet for the normal one. After a bit, I told him that I didn't want to lead him on and proceeded to dump all this onto him. And since I didn't ask him not to tell his wife (also in the group), I presumed he did. So this last session (yesterday), I brought all this to the group.

I was wary on how this was going to turn out. I just didn't know how everyone was going to react. I was worried that they would feel that I was trying to hold the game hostage, in some way. Turns out, the GM not only isn't liking 2E, he isn't even liking GMing. One of the other players also dislikes 2E. One of the OTHER players likes 2E fine but prefers 1E.

We sat there and talked about it for over an hour and there were absolutely Zero recrimminations, blamings, or snide comments. We decided to switch to a 1E campaign using the one-shot characters. Some of the players are going to car-pool out to my place. It is going to be grand. I'm actually looking forward to gaming those sessions again. I thanked them all about half a dozen times. But I wanted to tell you all how great they were about it as well.

That's a great group. I'm so glad you didn't lose those personal connections. Your group sounds like it has its priorities - the relationships - right where they ought to be.

I've never found that group, at least not in person.
