Ammensura Ibn Jad |
This profile should be up to date but I may want to spend some gold yet.
Flyndyngylyn |
Profile should be up to date with the exception of any last minute purchases...
Ammensura Ibn Jad |
Oops, forgot this.
Day Job: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
Brie Leroung |
Have a bit of updating to do, but getting this out of the way.
Craft(Alchemy) Day Job: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
What sort of spells does the shaman normally prep? I can go any direction with utility.
Ammensura Ibn Jad |
My regular list of prepared spells is on my profile.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Added a tracker for relevant scenarios, please fill it out when you have the chance.
Flyndyngylyn |
Hey GM, filled out the relevant scenario tracker and it got me thinking. Since I'd guess that Aram Zey will be involved in this one, I recalled how Flyn and Aram Zey have interacted over the scenarios. They don't exactly have a great relationship as the Master of Spells is not exactly a big fan of Flyn despite any success on his missions (or at the least he enjoys deriding the Elf). You don't have to use them, but thought I'd add a few quotes from Zey concerning Flyn to provide context if they do indeed meet again here...
"Flyn. My specific words were 'Retrieve the Sky Key fragment if possible, but try not to murder anyone.' What part of that was not clear? You came recommended as a skilled negotiator. By one of the Blakroses, no less. And to think they made you an instructor."
"Damn! what has that rogue Flyndyngylyn got his people into now?. You! Istvil! I'm diverting you - go make sure Flyn's team don't screw up."
"I see that scoundrel Flyn skipped out on this mission; he mentioned a summons to Mendev by Venture-Captain Lautenbury, so you shouldn't have to deal with his incompetence this time, at least..."
"You're back early! Failed already, eh? You're no better than that rat bastard Flyn, maybe I should've sent him after all."
"Hmmm...very well, I suppose you did OK...much better than a certain Elf that will remain unnamed would've managed at least."
Ajax Arrowhawk |
checking in. My stat blocks are not up-to-date on this forum, so I'll update them at some point.
Ajax Arrowhawk |
As an FYI, it turns out I'm only 9th level. Haven't played this character in awhile. However, I noticed there is no subtier that includes level 9, so is it okay I play this one?
Grandmaster TOZ |
Yes, level 9 may choose to play either 7-8 or 10-11. If you're confident in your character playing up, you're welcome to join us. I've heard this one was a bit rough, but I played 7-8 personally so I don't know how 10-11 is.
Ajax Arrowhawk |
Thanks. Ajax an archer, so I tend to stay out of melee. Seems we've got a fair number of casters in the groups, so I figure if they are decent, we should be in pretty good shape.
I do want to talk with you about my animal companion and how you like to handle it. Most of Ajax's AC levels, I had the same GM, so there was some history and creativity allowed that I've noticed one-shot GMs are sometimes opposed to. Maybe we can discuss it in PMs.
Laara |
Laara dropping in here. Still need to finish the level up/final purchases, but'll have that done soon.
She's an unarmed brawler/rogue, who can inflict a decent ammount of debuff effects on those she hits.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar checking in...will make sure my profile is up to date over the weekend and will be ready to go when we start on monday.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Special will go live this coming Monday, so please be ready to check in so as to avoid missing the opening act!
Unnvar the Solemn |
My apologies, due to IRL commitments I need to drop from this game. Sorry short notice, but rather drop the day before the start, than drag down the fun by being slow to post.
Best of Luck and cheers!
Brie Leroung |
Since we had our 2nd melee character drop, I'd be interested in switching to my 10th level swashbuckler/magus, if that's ok. I've got everything ready to go, would just need to add it to the campaign & sheet.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Let me post a notice for the opening. You can switch characters if you like either way, just let me know.
Also, official start time is midnight UTC, so I will be posting the opening briefingaround 7PM CST.
Aericus |
I'll go ahead and make the switch to this character
Day Job - Craft(alchemy): 10 + 15 = 25
Flyndyngylyn |
Is there an open spot in this game?
Yes, there’s an opening for a 9th to 11th level character.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Either one works! Please fill out the character info on the map and handouts slides when you have your choice settled.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Part 1 has begun! Part 2 will begin tomorrow night, so please make your checks and final preparations now that the scenario has started.
Flyndyngylyn |
The tracking bonus would not apply. In the future, spoilers should not be opened until the check is rolled.
I'm sorry GM...misunderstood as I haven't seen that particular spoiler format used in the PbP sessions I've played...but it makes sense and I should've known better...
Deno'thar |
The group makes 1 check but each PC can aid or make as many as they want? Is this correct? If so it looks like we can fairly easily hit around 40 on most of the checks by taking ten and automatic aids.
Grandmaster TOZ |
That would be a valid tactic. The wording is a little unclear but the consensus among the GMs is one check per task, allowing aid another from other PCs.
Ajax Arrowhawk |
Need to add some purchases: Starting gold 8660.1
- 10 durable cold iron arrows. = 20 gp
- 10 +1 planar arrow (Custom Order boon) = 1660.5
- 1 Protection from Evil scroll = 25 gp
- 4 thistle arrows = 4gp
- Upgrade Cloak of Resistance to +2 = 3000gp
Ajax Arrowhawk |
Seems like no one has rolled on Travel Tips? Does the Shaman want to due the honors? Take 10 will get you a 34 and two of us can auto-aid for a 38.
Ammensura Ibn Jad |
I thought Flynn already had but checking back it was just asking about thhe tracking bonus so I have made the check.
Also, the Shaman has a name....:)
Deno'thar |
If we've succeeded at the checks as a party do you mind if we open the spoilers or would you prefer that only the person who made the check does so?
Grandmaster TOZ |
In this case, it is party wide information. For expedience, assuming the PC making the check is able to share the information, once the check is rolled all players can read the spoilers allowed by the total. In some cases I will call out specific PCs and they can pass the information on or just tell everyone to read the spoiler. I don't expect to see a lot of that in this adventure except perhaps in combat when one PC might notice something that the rest of the party doesn't. If this sounds too confusing I am more than happy to include notes on every spoiler about conditions for opening it. It shouldn't add too much burden to my side of the table.
Ajax Arrowhawk |
It's not confusing, to me, as that is how I think most GMs run it.
Grandmaster TOZ |
The main idea was to hide the DCs inside the spoiler until the roll, so it is closer to in person play where I don't disclose the DC.
GM PDK |
Passing To: Grandmaster TOZ
Boost: Share Knowledge Arcana (Hard)
Boosted By: Charlotte "of the Stage" Lucidum (Human Psychic 8)
Deno'thar |
Usually these scenarios require the party to choose a single action from the listed options and try that (with aids), and failing checks can means others can’t try. Is that how this scenario is, or can we all do whatever we want in the skill sections?
Ajax Arrowhawk |
If that's the case, it would make sense for player to let those with the best modifiers be the primary. IC, it would be fairly easy for the characters to determine who had the most knowledge in a given area.
OOC, it feels like proper etiquette.
Grandmaster TOZ |
I was going to make it clear in the next post, but for this segment only one PC will be able to aid. Follow up post to come soon now that we have finished moving furniture in for the night.
Ajax Arrowhawk |
Then rather than forcing us to dig through everyone's character stats, maybe can stipulate the character with the highest modifiers are the ones that counts?
Ajax Arrowhawk |
Uh...what did I do? I thought I was rolling a Knowledge check to figure out what type of creature we were dealing with? I thought the Intimidate/Professional Soldier check was the persuasion attempt.
As long as the fall of the empire isn't brought up they can likely be appealed to through the ideals of honor and sacrifice. (Intimidate/Profession Soldier)
Grandmaster TOZ |
There were three tasks that could be performed to persuade them. The first was correcting the degradation of their funerary wrappings, which was allowing their spirits to become erratic (hence the bursts of rage). The Heal/Religion check was to actually perform the corrections. I will make it clearly going forward.
Flyndyngylyn |
From the way I read it, the Heal/Knowledge (Religion) check was an attempt to 'fix' their deteriorating wrappings...I'm guessing that succeeding might've improved their disposition towards us...
ETA: ninja'ed by the GM
Ajax Arrowhawk |

Okay, that wasn't clear, which is why I didn't describe Ajax as doing anything.
They appear to be ritually preserved in a psudo-undead state but the burial wrappings have been deteriorating. (Heal/Knowledge Religion)
Yeah, I don't see anything about "fixing" anything or correcting it. I read "deteriorating" as simply information relevant to what these creatures are, like the "draconic" description of the wyvarens.
In any event, it appears to be moot.
Grandmaster TOZ |
It is now. If it had been a check to learn information, there would have been a spoiler. In most cases where someone can't fail, I will just give the information when describing the scene. (The Sense Motive to recognize more about the wyvarens was an exception for roleplaying purposes.)
Ajax Arrowhawk |
For future reference, pursuant to my posts previously. Ajax is not going to be the primary on anything when he has modifiers in the the single digits in a 10-11 scenario. Ajax does have Improvisation so if I roll something with a low modifier, it's going to be because I think there is no penalty for failure or limit to who can check. I'll try and double check if I think it's not clear.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Understood! (Having to fast for bloodwork this morning didn't help me any.)
