You guys should all head to the Refuse chamber. It's not a solo mission. You builders can mark the traps, earthworks, etc while you deal with the trash monster.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
I agree. I wasn't sure when you said the "improvements" would take the time we had available if that meant the remainder of today or all of today and tomorrow. Due to that I didn't know if Bob, Gorthug, and I would be able to head there.
GM Monster
IC, the monster won't take long. I mean the improvements will take the time you have accounting for trash monster until your deadline.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Ah. Well then as soon as Xeria calls for us, we're on our way!!! If she doesn't request help by the morning Cindy will just randomly remember that we had two jobs and prompt the others to head there.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Yes, Xeria will come back and describe what she saw - she is not a Knowledge(Anything) type of character :D
Cindy's only knowledge skill is in Knowledge(Things she makes up after misunderstanding how the real world works)

Ah, the kid knowledge skill :D
Xeria's more of a "knowledge is fiddling details between the parties" kind of person. It's something other people worry about.
Snowball the Dragon
I know I had a busy Saturday, but that was more of an IRL RPG kind of thing than a go-outside kind of thing xD
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
So the question is, do any of us actually have ANY knowledge skills let alone Dungeoneering? Just out of curiosity
Snowball the Dragon
Once I have a positive mod for Int, I'll have Knowledge (Arcana)...
Gorthug
So...we are CR2 but I only took 1 level of background skills (linguistics and lore undead)
Any advice on what else I should take?
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Don't ask me, I took craft(dollmaking) so obviously I make bad decisions lol
Snowball the Dragon
to be fair, unless you're going to max spellcraft, you'll need that craft ... much later xD
I know!
Bob can have lore (oozes)! SOMEHOW!
It'll be great xD
GM Monster
Note that you get 2 background skills per CR, Gorthug, so everyone should have two levels of background skills for four ranks total.
GM Monster
Also FYI, I'm going to start awarding hero points occasionally for good RP, helpful OOC management, or both.
My rules on hero points (also listed in campaign description for easy access): Physical or magical uses of hero points (to recall a spell, take an extra action, impose 1d6 points of damage. You do not receive free hero points from level up, feats, or any means other than having them granted by the GM.

I never took those background skills, because I have no background. Is it cool that I just add them in as I learn things? Maybe after recent experiences I will take 1 rank of profession (masonry) and 1 rank of knowledge dungeoneering.
Lots of dirt moving in masonry work, at least masonry prep. That was one of my summer jobs 20 years ago (miserable work but at least you are outside :) )
question: Since i have no classes, do I get a +3 bonus for putting a rank in profession mason?
edit: K Dungeoneering is not a background skill. Maybe I will take Craft Alchemy to reflect his origins.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
No we don't get class skills until we take a class level, as far as I understand it, so the +3 bonus on professions will happen on first class level.
Snowball the Dragon
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Sounds reasonable, except white dragons definitely get all their skills at +3 for some "unknown" reason, which I'm guessing means they get it as a class skill xD
Also, only barbarians don't get profession as a class skill iirc. I'm not sure about oozes, unfortunately xD
...
After double checking the creature type section, Dragons get almost everything as a class skill. As such, I'll be adding a +3 to Snowball's linguistics later...
"Oozes do not have any class skills" after all :(
...no one is an aberration except from the mutant template, right? Which reminds me:
@GM: when a template says not to recalculate skill points (even after changing type etc), does that also mean we keep our previous class skills? (i.e. change type without adding or subtracting any "class skills")
edit: mutants specifically just add a few class skills, so maybe my question is moot after all xD
(Also it says not to recalc HD, BAB, or saves with skills being listed separately, so I misunderstood the template slightly)
GM Monster
Yep class skills are by creature type until you take a class, as pointed out by Snowball.
Bob: I'm totally cool with you adding background skills while you RP and explore.

RAWR! I AM CINDY!
Just wanted to say that for some reason
Snowball the Dragon
'cause Cinder was stealing your glory? :3
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
No. All the boards have been quiet all day, and I just wanted to RAWR somewhere. This seemed like the most appropriate thread for it.
Snowball the Dragon
Probably wont be too much longer for our favorite healer to show up xD
Snowball the Dragon
Almost everyone gets a move or standard action
I... I'm going to double check xD
Edit: unless I'm missing something, everyone who gets to act in the surprise round has posted.
I guess we're waiting for our glorious leader GM :3
GM Monster
Yep. On vacay so just trying to get in my one post a day right now instead of the more normal faster pace.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Yes Bob, we shall help. Don't forget you have a slam attack though so at least there's something you can do if the head is too big to engulf.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Oh crap...no distinct head?!?!?
Has it already been "bobbed" by a bigger version of Bob?

You guys won’t even want me anymore. Just adopt the monster instead. **cry**
Snowball the Dragon
Well...
I bet its name isn't Bob!
Why would we want an ooze that isn't named Bob? :D

*wishes she could hug Bob, but it seems like it would be kinda painful*
"We'd never ditch you Bob. You're the only one I know who likes being stirred, and you helped build my lair. You're my bestest friend!!!"
Many thanks to Gorthug for helping too, but he's not really stirrable and makes a really uncomfortable hat.

Ok, laughing pretty hard right now because of all of you!
Snowball the Dragon
I just had a thought. Don't we have the evil twin already? I bet we do. I bet his good twin is a wuss :p

Also, More recruiting posters for the lunch room:
- Things that go bump in the dark (sorry goldslip)
- NoPo: No Potions for us (I think Snowball and Goldslip are the only ones that benefit from CLW)
- The Cold Warriors (Immunity to cold)
- The Empty Mind Society (Immunity to mind affecting)
Also, an eloquent open letter about the terrible fate that will befall whoever keeps heating up fish. This is a shared oven, and we only have the one pot, and Bob sleeps in it when it's not in use. Come on.
Snowball the Dragon
Snowball is too dumb to think of it herself for the first attack or two, but for all us no-damage wimps out there:
In melee combat, you can help a friend attack or defend by distracting or interfering with an opponent. If you’re in position to make a melee attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend in melee combat, you can attempt to aid your friend as a standard action. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent’s next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack.
You can also use this standard action to help a friend in other ways, such as when he is affected by a spell, or to assist another character’s skill check.
Xeria
I've always wondered if this is in addition to flank or not? I assume it must be.
If it's not in addition to flank, then they get +2 if you succeed vs AC 10 or +2 if you don't roll at all.
This does allow stacking and it does allow giving +2 when you aren't flanking, but if it doesn't stack, then it's kinda stupid.
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
The Empty Mind Society (Immunity to mind affecting)
Hey! Cindy's mind is all full and stuff! The one downside of the soulbound doll is since they actually have a sliver of a soul they are the only constructs NOT immune to mind affecting.
Snowball the Dragon
Flank gives a +2 "flanking" bonus which should stack with literally everything. 'Cause what else gives a "flanking" bonus?
Also, it depends on exact positioning, so that you can only have pairs of flanking buddies (with reach > 0', like Snowball's bite) giving each other the +2 (unless you have Gang Up or something), but its +2 to all melee attack rolls.
Can anyone guess which Aid Another action is an attack roll (in melee) vs AC 10? >:D

Also, I don't know if anyone is going to GenCon, but I'm in Bloomington, IN, which is about an hour away. If you want to meet up, or need a place to stay, let me know!
Doll #23, also known as Cindy
Ooh hopefully mine should show up soon then. Was pre-ordered so should be in the mail.
