On round 1, please attack each other gentlemen. Max and Kallus gasp, as their vision blurs after witnessing the creature discorporate out of the spacesuit. They grasp their heads, as if in pain, then when they come to, look at each other with a vicious glare. Visually confused, the two men find their weapons and strike each other.

...well, there had to be someone. Sorry Val, Kallus and Max, you're confused for 2 rounds. Moving on, can all of you please roll a 1d4 and see outcome for the second round of confusion.

Kallus shakes his head, his vision blurred. Did he just see the creature enter Max's body? What the? Why is Max attacking him? Bringing up his sword, Kallus readies a counter strike.

Sorry for not posting. Trying to catch up after busy weekend. It looks like I had initiative so I'll include an attack on the driftdead in case I got to do that before failing my save.

Seeing the creature come out of the suit, Max draws Ray's pistol and fires. Not having practiced with the new gun, his shot misses.

Ranged attack (Static arc pistol): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage (Electrical): 1d6 ⇒ 4

The howl of the creature makes his head spin. Disoriented, he attacks Kallus.

While confused, I’m not sure if I would be aware enough to take a step back when firing my pistol at an adjacent target. Normally I would to avoid the AoO. If I don’t, and I don’t get to attack before becoming confused, it would seem reasonable that I would draw my tactical baton instead of the pistol to attack the adjacent target. If so, damage would be 1d4 instead.

Also, unless something changed, it seems to me that you only roll on the confusion table if you don’t already have a target.

Rayburn hears his allies apparently fighting each other. That scream must have done something to their brain. Knowing that he might have to go help rein in his allies, he does his best to first get rid of the Driftdead.

Seeing Max and Kallus's confusion, Zybrie decides to try and deal with the Driftdead as quickly as possible. She'd rather it not be a threat when they try to calm Max and Kallus down, and she definitely doesn't want to risk the Driftdead affecting any more of them.

She draws her laser rifle and aims carefully through the door, past Max and Kallus, she attempts a single shot with her laser rifle.

I was going to say I'm not sure how much cover the Driftdead has, given where Zybrie is standing, but with that roll, it doesn't matter anyway.

With all three of the crew members around her either babbling or attacking one another, it's difficult for Zybrie to get a lock on the Driftdead, even with her exocortex' assistance. She works her way past Kallus and Max and steps inside the Captain's Quarters to get a clear shot at the creature with her laser rifle.

Hearing Kallus's voice calling out, and having no idea what is happening in the hall, Rayburn says over comms, "Kallus, what is happening out there? I hear fighting, and it isn't over this drift dead. Are we being attacked from another flank?"

Keeping the need to deal with another external problem, Rayburn quickly decides that using his last available spell--without calling on his spell cache Ellen-- is probably best used to attempt to get this drift dead gone, so that his allies in here can go deal with the problem in the hall. Focusing his eyes on the drift dead, 3 small amber spheres fly towards it.

With a scream and then a sudden spike in the lighting, the driftdead fades back to the shadows. The whole fight took only a few seconds, yet you all feel tired and beat. Who knew putting restless souls to rest in space would be so hard?

The captain’s armor is a set of battle harness, currently bereft of power and severely damaged The armor does contain a purple force field armor upgrade. The external battery pack looks to still have enough power to be used to open the bridge door.

Taking time to survey the rest of the captain's quarters, you manage to find a hidden storage chamber along the sides of the captain’s bed. The container has a several of the captain’s personal effects, along with a credstick containing 500 credits.

"While we search the area, and start to think on how to jury-rig the battery for the door, I would highly suggest Mlinda and Val take a quick break to catch their breath. Maybe just sit down in the hallway, so you are easily within calling distance?"

Rayburn will poke around in the captains quarters a bit more, and then start to look at what they will need to rig up the battery.

Coming to his senses as the creature is finally slain, Kallus realizes what he did. My apologies, Max. That thing had a hold on my mind, I couldn't see clearly." He goes to examine the captain's armor. "It hid out in here until we showed up. Someone must have trapped it. Now it's gone. For good hopefully. This force field cell would be a nice addition to someone's armor, we'll have to see about that when we get back. Should we open that bridge up now?"

M'linda nods at Ray's suggestion, but slumps down against the wall right where she is, taking a few minutes to gather her strength again. While resting, she looks over the force baton with renewed interest. "May have to look into something like this," she muses out loud to herself.

One of these days, I may actually get to use my Supernova ability. :p

The sparks flying off of Val from the blast of his pistol seem to bring Max to. He looks at his pistol and then back at her in disbelief. "Val are you okay? I was seeing those things everywhere. Where did they go?"

He enters the room and helps search. "Let's take the captain's belongings to return also. Hopefully, this battery pack will give us enough power to open the door to the bridge." While M'linda and Val rest, he removes the battery pack and the upgrade from the damaged armor.

You remember that there was once more console in the Engine Room that didn't have any power going to it. You will need a DC 20 engineering check to safely reverse engineer the faulty wiring, and to attach a functional battery to terminal ladled Deck.

You take a brief moment to rest, allowing Mlinda to recover her stamina.

Set yourselves for the bridge, you open the door. The ship’s bridge is alight in red warning screens. The nearing ethereal storm looms beyond the forward viewing platform, while the ship’s failing power causes each station’s panels to flicker intermittently. A battered captain’s chair oversees two tiers of descending operations panels.

There is a Kasatha sitting in the Helmsman seat, but almost everyone realizes that is just a corpse and that a small four armed creature is waiting inside of it. Given what Yuta told this is a Xill and it is armed with random assortment of improvised materials and one pistol of Kasathan design.

Striding into the bridge, his need to clear his mind from that driftdead's effect evident, Kallus projects his hand and his mind towards the creature waiting to ambush them.

Keeping her rifle ready, Zybrie follows Kallus through to the bridge. She steps into the room and then, once she can see the creature, activates combat-tracking.

Can everyone see the Xill? Zybrie rolled a pretty low Perception. If she can't see it, she's readying an action to activate combat tracking as soon as she can see it.

As for the engine room, I'm happy to make the check but I'm not clear if that's something we're doing now or just a reminder that we need to do that once the Xill and the bridge are dealt with.

Sorry for not making it more obvious, but everyone can very easily see the Xill. It basically came out of hiding as soon as you opened the doors. It's pretty hungry...

As for the DC 20 Engineering check, feel free to make it whenever, you guys can all help each other so it's pretty easy.

Zybrie initiates her combat tracking to better predict the creatures movements, while Kallus pushes the creatures mind to break it.

Feeling better after her rest, M'linda makes her way into the cockpit with the others, her solar blade in hand.

Slow to respond, M'linda rushes into the cockpit to help Kallus with the creature, using the last of her movement to attempt to roll past it's snapping jaws.

Thinking on what he should use his spell cache for, Rayburn quickly ascertains that magic missile is likely better because of the grappling creature. Touching the comp pad, he quickly communes with Ellen, and casts the spell at the Xill. Three amber spheres (maybe with something crystallized in them) shoot forward at the creature.

Sorry, yeah Val would have hit. And there is no airlock on the deck, unfortunately.

Mlinda finally sees an opening, and lands a solid blow agasint the insect with her solar weapon. Similarly, Max's tactic of slowing down his breathing lets his pistol feel light in his hand, allowing for him to, with finesse, shoot the creature in the torso. It squirms, studders and after a moment, falls on top of Kallus deeper into his embrace.

With the Xill dispatched, you can see the Storm looming closer. A silk kasatha mouth scarf rests at the feet of the ruined pilot’s body. At this point you think you have less than thirty minutes before the Struggle’s Scholar is consumed.

One computer terminal here is responsive, running on auxillory power, keeping the black box and other data stored within. It isn't too hard to locate the data store, however it is heavily encrypted. You can download the whole set of data but will need the resources of the compute power of the Starfinder Society to decode it.

Give me some computer checks to collect the data you were here to recover.

Alright, I guess we are basically at the end. Anyone doing anything else on the ship before you escape?

Throwing the body from off of him, Kallus stands up and brushes himself off. He then stabs his sword through the creature to make sure it isn't getting back up. "I will go and secure the rest of the Kasathan heirlooms." He doesn't say anything else as he goes to each room and gathers the leftover artifacts in a timely and efficient manner.
