As an aside- whats the plan after this game? I am looking ahead to Kal and am trying to get a feel for when this might wrap up, and if there was another following it. I know we loosely talked about running a whole series of the tapestries but I wasn't sure how long that series would go.
Thanks!

EbonFist |

There's at least one more scenario within 1-5 range in season 4 so I'll definitely run that and invite anyone interested.
The only list I've been able to find for Hao Jin scenarios ends there (though there are a lot more scenarios of higher levels.) I'm going to do some more digging once I start that next scenario to see if I can find more because I know that there are some in season 10, at least.
I don't know if there are enough to actually level everyone up through all the scenarios but, if you guys are interested in keeping the group together, we can run some "filler" in between.

I will need to see what my life looks like when we get to the end of this one. I know I am struggling to keep a steady posting schedule and I do not want to stick around after we finish if I am holding the group back. If by the time this wraps up my life has more structure and I am able to post regularly, then I might be able to do the next.

Hey this game went posting crazy over he weekend - sorry for being quiet guys. As regards future sessions - count me in! Castinus levels up (into Swashbuckler!) if he survives this - whoo hoo !

EbonFist |

Oh, and to answer a question nobody asked - my plan is to invite Waggi and Fiata back for the next session to fill in any gaps that might come up with people dropping out.
I'm hoping to be able to have a roster of characters to call upon so that it will be different specific characters but some combination of the same group for all the scenarios.
And, a couple of you have the possibility of doing the full run.

![]() |

That sounds perfect! As soon as you know which scenario that will be please give a shout.

![]() |

I'll be dropping out. I really wanted to play this with my Korada warpriest, and now I want to take a break from playing and do a GM spree of season 0 I think.

![]() |

Kal will stay around as long as he can. It's unfortunate that his love of chaos is antagonistic to Baram this particular session.

![]() |

I'll show my true peaceful ways by never being able to get into melee range in this cramped temple lol

EbonFist |

Hey guys, hold off on rolling your checks at the moment. The mechanics are a bit wonky in this part so I just want to see what everyone wants to do before I throw them out there.

![]() |

Kal doesn't have a preference. He isn't super persuasive but doesn't mind convincing people. His assessment is that making a strong case as to the followers, and having them turn on their spiritual leader would be the most enjoyable option to watch/participate in.

EbonFist |

I'm going to peel back the curtain a little bit here, guys. The DC to get past these ladies is really high (you can probably guess approximately what it is given normal Pathfinder rules...I don't know why they don't scale those DC's with character level like they do everything else but that is a discussion for a different time.)
What I would like to do is have one person take the lead and everyone else aid. You'll get a number of chances based on the evidence that you can provide to them.
So, please decide who is going to lead the diplomacy check and that person will make their argument (including all the evidence they want to present) and then I'll say how many diplomacy checks they can make. Each person who wants to aid can then make the same number of diplomacy checks to do so and I'll take the best result.

![]() |

Tofang has Diplomacy +4 - he will aid

![]() |

I've got +7 and it kind of makes sense for me to lead I guess, but I'd rather someone else do it if they have a higher bonus.
Evidence:
Undead in the temple
Demon in the temple
I'm a follower of Korada (with spellcasting and a holy symbol)
The religious texts are grossly incorrect and I think some are missing

![]() |

The texts are hinting at another evil god of heresy!!

EbonFist |

Ok...I'm going to go with Baram.
Go ahead and make your post with your In Character arguments (including the evidence you've given and Tofang's point.) Please make a DC15 Knowledge (Religion) check to use your status as a follower of Korada (to convince them that you are.)
If you make that check, make 5 Diplomacy Checks. If you fail it, make 4, because they don't believe you're a true follower of Korada.
Then, everyone else can make either 5 or 4 Aid checks depending on how many Baram makes.

EbonFist |

I don't know if Korada listened, but Dai Shrolla certainly did.

EbonFist |

And by the way...even with those rolls, it took Tofang's assist on the best one to convince them.

EbonFist |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Only people who listen to GCP are going to get this but I am having to fight every time I post about it to not call Tofang's gun a magical hand banger.

I know exactly what you mean!

![]() |

???? ;-)

EbonFist |

You guys and this scenario are making me really wish I could give out RP awards.

![]() |

I think you're doing a great job speaking as Dakang. I imagine the scenario does not give pre-written answers for many of our questions to him

![]() |

Agreed. I am really enjoying this interactions of characters and NPCs. It is all the best parts of pbp RP.

![]() |

GM, you are doing a hell of a job!! :-D

![]() |

My take on the heresy thing is that’ Sifkesh’s purpose is to lure other followers away from their own faith by injecting heresy into the other religion. In that sense, I don’t think a follower could renounce Sifkesh directly... but I guess we might find out!

EbonFist |

Hey guys check out today's announcement about Gameday VIII.
The special seems right up our alley. You can't sign up now, but when the time comes, look for my table on the "Other Recruitment" tab. Anyone interested can sign up there.
Although, given that it doesn't start for almost 2 months and we're close to done with this one, I plan to run another scenario between now and Gameday VIII.

![]() |

Thanks for the heads up! I don't pay a lot of attention to the recruitment threads and announcements since I have several longterm groups. I am in, if we can make it work!

![]() |

I am taking a break from new games at the moment.
Thanks again for your great GMing!!

![]() |

Thanks for including me in this scenario, I really like Korada and it was fun to have a scenario dedicated to him in this manner.

![]() |

Sorry for any in-character difficulty Kal'ryon might have caused. If I am being honest, he just wants to watch the world burn!

EbonFist |

Thanks for including me in this scenario, I really like Korada and it was fun to have a scenario dedicated to him in this manner.
I'm glad you liked it. It seemed very fitting for your character.
You may want to remove the Mantra from your profile, though. It was a trick, too.
If you take the alternating last and first syllables it says "Bind my soul to Sifkesh."

![]() |

Wow ok, I'll have to make a new mantra then, thanks EbonFist! Even I was fooled for a moment by Sifkesh's heresy.

![]() |

Sorry guys! I am on vacation with the family. I thought I would be better about internet access- but I have hardly even thought about it! Sorry, not sorry!

EbonFist |

Ok guys, HERE is the link to the Chronicle Sheets.
I'll get the game reported and post a link to the next scenario, #04-07 Severing Ties, tomorrow.

![]() |

Good luck guys and thanks for bringing me along for this one!
Oh boy a korada scenario! One of the few deities that also has IUS as a favored weapon and supports monks instead of Irori. I wonder what cool korada boon I'll get for being a korada follower. Oh...an irori item. Lol

![]() |

THanks a lot guys!!
Thanks a lot GM! You really did an astounding job here ... the atmosphere was full of uncertainty and I liked it a lot!!
Unfortunately, I have played 04-07 but maybe you inform me if you are GMing the next one?
@Baram: Ha ha ... so strange! I think the author never would have thought that anybody would follow Koroda. :-)

EbonFist |

I'm glad you guys liked this scenario. I did, too. Most of the NPCs were clueless about what was going on with only Dakang being fully aware of what he was doing. I wanted you guys to feel like there was something wrong but not exactly what and to never be quite sure who was in on it.
Interestingly enough, beating Dakang was not one of the success factors originally. You got the PP for doing what Zey wanted and doing the faction missions. Running Dakang off only became the secondary PP when they revised how it worked.
And the Irori only item makes me wish GM's had a little more leeway. If I could I would absolutely cross that name out and substitute Korada for Baram.
Sorry for those of you who have already played Severing Ties. I'll keep you on the list for the next one...Actually, the special for the next Gameday will likely be the next adventure, so if you're interested (and have characters in range) check out my table when registration opens up in a few days. And if you don't make that, I'll definitely keep you on the list of people to play the following one.
That being said...for anyone interested in Severing Ties, the link is HERE
I plan to send invitations to the two folks who had to drop out of this one and we'll see what kind of party we have and if we need/want to add more after everyone checks in.

![]() |

Sorry for being slow to post this week. My brother is getting married today and that turned this week to be even more chaos than normal. I am opting out of continuing because my life is too uncertain to make a normal posting schedule and reuse to hold you guys up.
That being said, you are an amazing GM. You convey the tone very well and everything feels very organized. I am pleased that I have been able to play with Kahwen so much and play with you being the GM. Good luck in the future and I hope to make return to this great community someday and play with you all again.

![]() |

"The Hao Jin Cataclysm" - sounds perfect, count me in!
I have dotted in for the Severing Ties game (I hate wearing ties so am glad to do that), and would also be up for the Cataclysm one too.
However,
a) are you running them concurrently or one first then the other? I assume I cannot use Castinus in both if they are concurrent.
b) Cataclysm is tier 1-11. How does this work with a party of mixed levels? Surely any lower level PCs will be at enormous risk if there are CR encounters able to challenge lvl 11 characters?
Forgive my noobie questions...

![]() |

From what I recall, the tiers are in groups of 3 levels essentially, like 4-6 or 2-4, but a PC can be within one tier "step" of the main tier and receive out of tier gold. So if the main tier was 2-4, a PC levls 1, 5, or 6 could join. This doesn't happen very often though and I might not be 100% correct there.
