Going to go ahead and dot in with Delta-5. If we end up missing some critical skill sets though I'll swap out to Kai--Kai can do pretty much everything.

Does anyone understand how Jump Jets work?
https://www.aonsrd.com/ArmorUpgrades.aspx?ItemName=Jump%20Jets&Family=N one
Is it a standard action to activate while taking a move action? Or can it be implicitly activated during the move action?
Does it add a fly speed of 30 ft. to the move action (or one 20ft. "jump") or replace the move action altogether?
I don't see a clear answer on the boards and mostly want to know how you will rule it, Shifty.

Thanks, Shifty.
Profile is mostly set up, just a couple of things to finalise.

My take on Jump Jets is that you trigger them as part of a move action and that the Jump (whether it be the 30' horizontal/10' vert, or the 20' vert) replaces the normal movement. Obviously this has implications for any full action/full attack options such as Trick attack, Run, Withdraw, and Charging (as obvious stand outs).

Revvy Bitterleafs character checking in
We had an Nuar who was all about showing strength and intimidation and not backing down from a fight
We went to the park to catch some critters
We went to a restaurant and had a lovely meal
We went to a bar for some drinks...and ended up fighting
We went shopping and carried around a whole lot of packages

I've got a lvl 2 Android Mechanic or Vesk Soldier, I can also bring in a lvl 1 Ysoki Technomancer or Lashunta Mystic. Any preferences?
I always say; play what you think will be the most fun to play.
Having said that, I'm playing a (melee) soldier and Delta-5 and LA6 are technomancers. We have a solarion and an operative as well...so I'd say bring the mystic or the mechanic for a more rounded out party.

That's the interpretation I was just coming around to this morning as I thought it over again. Glad we're on the same page.
I'm ready to go.

I see the 'fill in the blank' sheet with the maps.
Do you want us to fill the Perception and Initiative?

No problem. We're still ticking along nicely - no need to apologise. :)
Sounds involved. Hope all goes smoothly!

I didn't even notice you were posting slowly :p

should we be rolling bluffs for telling the truth? Maybe we should let the GM tell us what, if anything, to roll based off of our actions.
With PBP, I always try to err on the side of providing more than required, so that it may minimise the delay of waiting if another action or roll are required.
Elisan's intention was to embellish the truth rather than a straight out fabrication - the old addage about the best lies containing kernels of truth.
He was alleging the chef's actions were irrational and without any provocation, and that the safety of other diners was in question, which I believe to be false and warranted the Bluff.
It made sense in my head (but then again, many things do that others find more than a little strange!), however I may not have captured it in my post as well as I'd intended.

That is the flipside; I wish there were a way around it without slowing games down. I'm a big believer in the "narrate what your'e doing and let the GM tell you when/if/what to roll" approach to the game but it's true there are hiccups in PbP.

It is pretty involved, but in waves :)
When I initially started planning a con on a cruise ship the idea was to keep it small but scaleable, its the first pure roleplaying con on a ship (there's other cons and board game cruises etc - but pure RPG has different complexities) and I wasn't certain how well it would be recieved.
My planning was just to take the first one as a pilot, and so I got half a dozen people who I knew would go 'no matter what' so that if people didn't buy in I could at least point to 'here is people gaming at sea' and we would get more the next time. I set the target for 20 people with a hard cap of 30.
I raised it on our state PFS Facebook group as an upcoming event and hit up my local travel agent for some prices - she's really lovely and got us some great prices per cabin. I dropped that the event was open when I got home from work and in 16 hours the 30 cap had been reached and had blown out to 37, with a waitlist.
We're now at the final payments stage and so the last couple of days has been a bit involved, and although I was going to wait until the 25th (drop dead final payment date) before allowing more sign ups from the waitlist, I got told the ship was about to fill so the option to add more at that date was going to be really iffy, so we filled up 3 more cabins.
Now I'm doing the GM muster and scheduling.
It's certainly an adventure - we have 18 cabins worth of players, and this is just the 'proof of concept' event... next year we're looking at PaizoCon Asia Pacific being on board a ship so this is the rehearsal :)
We needed somethig to match gaming at the Green Dragon Inn at Hobbiton in New Zealand from the other PCAP :)

That sounds...Amazing! Room, gaming, and food all within a few decks, not to mention being able to lounge topside or play some craps at the casino.
Shifty |
That is another tricky part.
My original thought was that people would go hard and game til they broke, but actually the feedback is coming in that people mostly want morning sessions, then afternoons off to go do all the activities.
I have a few fiends who plan to pretty much hammer gaming all day and night (because the free pizza bar is 24/7 so they can be gaming and eating pizza at 3am)
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Wow! Sounds really fun! Best of luck with it.
I remember seeing publicity for it somewhere on an Oz RPG group (or maybe these boards somewhere?) but sadly not something I'm currently in a position to attend.
Charlie-X |
That does sound amazing (also the part about a 24/7 free pizza bar). It also sounds very far away ;(
Good luck and maybe if it takes off you can go global in a few years ;)

I'll be pretty busy until probably next Thursday. I'm not sure what my posting rate will look like day to day. Don't hesitate to bot me if I haven't posted yet on a given day and am holding things up. There should be a Bot Me spoiler at the bottom of my profile but if there is not, recent posts should be indicative.
Shifty |
AFK notice.
It is currently Sunday afternoon. On Friday around lunchtime I will be boarding the Carnival Spirit for a few days out kicking around the Coral Sea to do my final checks for our 'PFS/SFS RPG convention at sea' Con Voyage in August.
The ship wifi and internet is utter garbage, so I expect to have no signal or comms from noon on Friday the 7th of June til noon Monday the 10th of Jun. I might get comms, I might not, so banking on not.
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Thanks for the notice. All the best for the trial run!
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Enjoy! Best of luck.
Delta-5 |
I will be at a conference for work next week (M-F) with very limited time to post. There should be a Bot Me spoiler in my profile (please let me know ASAP if it is missing or empty) that you can use to bot me if any actions are waiting on me.

The cruise went well, I got a great opportunity to check the size of the space we have been given which is pretty good, there's going to be some serious challenges (like getting people to reduce the junk they have at a gaming table!) but I reckon we're in for a great time.
Welcome back! That's great to hear. Glad the trip was a success.
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
From my rolls, I think it's a non-issue but I don't think I could do the actions as posted in the Gameplay.
I think the Trick Attack would be a full round action, so I couldn't have it prepared as part of a readied action, so I guess it would just be a move and then readied attack.
Does that sound right?
Delta-5 |
Thanks for the game, Shifty. Always a pleasure to play with you. When can we expect chronicles?
