GM Elberion |
Kyra, I don't like to move PCs. It's not fair if the GM forces you to set off traps. When you all began exploring the current map, I put everyone outside. After that, put your token where you want your PC to go.
If someone specifically says that they go somewehere but forgets to move their token, I might move it just to match the gameplay thread.
It's not my fault if you guys want to split the party :D
Zadim eviscerates the green-dyed gnoll.

They cages are easy to open from the outside.
From one stumbles a filthy, scarred woman with vacant eyes. She mumbles to herself absently and starts to lick her own hands.
From another comes a naked, scarred man with a distended belly. He points at his open mouth to show that his tongue has been cut out, then frantically mimes writing with pen and paper. In contrast to the woman, his eyes are bright and keen as he looks from one of you to another, gesturing for pen and paper.
Zadim - Pregen |
"This woman requires paper and pen." says Zadim, regretting that he brought neither. He scans the floor to see if there sufficient dust or particulates to allow symbols to be drawn. He offers the woman his waterskin. "Drink as much as you'd like. Then, perhaps you could use pour some of its contents out, like ink, to write if we find a suitable surface for writing."
Le Kyra Pregen |
This woman requires paper and pen."
Kyra raises a brow.
"Perhaps the excitement of rooting out the cult is getting to your vision, Zadim. That is most certainly a man.""A man who should also cover himself up, before carelessly appearing before a woman like that. No offense, my good man."
Nanny Ahd |
"Perhaps he can tell me more directly." Nanny walks over to the man. "Would you share your thoughts with me?"
If the man nods, she'll cast detect thoughts and concentrate.

Kyra raises a brow.
"Perhaps the excitement of rooting out the cult is getting to your vision, Zadim. That is most certainly a man."
"My apologies, sir." Zadim replies, clearly embarrassed, though whether it was due to his offense to the man or the correction by Kyra, is not entirely evident.
"Battle takes its tool on the eyes and the mind." he confides in Kyra. He pauses for a moment, staring longingly.
Now, if only, my radiant cleric, we could be wed. Then I'd have the opportunity to more fully explore and, indeed, to revel in, the differences between man and woman.
GM Elberion |
As Nanny's connection gradually embeds, the man closes his eyes...
The next flash of images shows torture. Seeing through his eyes, you both feel yourself being tortured and witness others being tortured. At some point almost all of the victims break full 1984 style and begin praising Lamashtu, praying to her, self-mutilating in her name... It's impossible to tell where the line lies between true devotion, playing to appease the torturers and pure madness, often it seems like all three at once.
You sense however that this man never broke. Often you feel catechisms running through your head as you watch.
Time seems to accelerate onward and you feel hands pushing open your mouth, thick ropes bind your limbs, a serrated blade enters your mouth... after that is darkness but you awake to a sensation in your lower intestine... tension... squirming...
You watch, horrified, as two slavers lash a dwarf to a black slab, the very altar you were once lashed to, and pour a thick, black liquid into his mouth and over his body. The next day, the dwarf's belly is distended, pulsating... the slavers observe him calmly, "Too much, he is developing too quickly." soon after a demonic creature tears itself out of the dwarf's belly, eyes blazing unholy fire, and the gnolls rush it off further into the temple.
You feel the horror of watching your own belly begin to grow. And you watch broken, corrupted slaves, freshly inseminated, sent out into the slave markets...
For a minute, you watch Nanny squirm and gnash her teeth, then suddenly, her head is thrown back as the psychic connection breaks.
The man throws back his head and howls in agony, his legs begin to buckle, you see his swollen stomach writhe and churn...
like this
A tiny, demonic gnoll creature rips forth with slender claws. It is thin and its movements feeble but it immediately turns around and begins to gnaw on the man's innards. Not that he knows anything about it as the massive blood loss has ended his life. The creatures radiates evil so powerfully that you can all sense it.
The module assumes you kill it and there are no rules for this thing, so I guess whoever wants to do it can end this demon-beast.
Nanny Ahd |
Nanny will kill it without compunction, and simply say to her fellow, "They are inseminating the slaves with the spawn of Lamashtu. Many have already been taken to the markets."
Not much shakes the old elf, but she has too steady herself for a moment after making the pronouncement.
GM Elberion |
I wonder if I should have marked this module with a gross warning: Lamashtans with access to slaves is always going to be horrendous!
The creature dies in an instant, black goop spills from its wounds.
Double doors to the west or tunnel to the east?
Brallenera Thalkham |
That's awful.
Brallenera is so pale and shocked that she forgets to begin her sentence with her usual "Awwww.."
Unless you count "Awwwful"?
GM Elberion |
Good shout.
Victor throws open the double doors only to find two more sets of double doors.
Those to the east are wide open but the southern pair are shut.
In this room, a series of maps and log books show other slaving operations across Avistan that have some kind of link with the slavers here. Almost all are marked with a symbol of Lamashtu.
Nanny Ahd |
"Good things to take with us, if we are to track down the infected slaves."
Roderick Xim |
”Indeed. We must put an end to this despicable cult and their vile actions before more innocents are harmed. “
Roderick follows with the others through the doors.t
