"Ha! I can't be fated by no spiggle drank...or goblin laser!" Chor shouts as the spickledranth's teeth rake across armor but find no purchase in flesh and the laser beam goes wide.

"Look Jul, Kastien knows how to play 'Punch Bug.' Do you, or did you never have fun? It goes like this!"

He releases his laser with his right hand, keeping it in the left and hammers down with his gauntlet covered fist.

"PUNCH BUG!"

Frank double-moves. Chorizal attempts to show how to punch bug, but his fist fails slides off the spicodranth's armor. Kastien connects powerfully with the young spicodranth, who recoils slightly and mewls in distress.

"RRRRraaaaeeeeep?"

It looks to the goblins to see if it should keep fighting, but the goblins are all shouting, "Tear them apart, Spikey!"

Abistar-4 moves forward and gives an ernast, and over the top, plea to the crew to stop lighting the creature. "Please, I know this ultimate desires, but you need to divert the lighting. Your continued push forward is disrupting the flow of our energies and building negative emotions, creating a catastrophic cascade that conflicts with our combat. Even now the burning lights are igniting the ongoing strife between us all. Ceolor is so beset that even music can't move his soul"

Ceolor gives Abistar a puzzled look, "I don't think it was the lights causing the strife. I just don't do musicals and I'm so tone deaf that it tends to set things on fire!"

As the loud speakers start blearing a theme song behind him Ceolor gives a jump, moving a good five feet closer to the goblins. "AHHHHH DESNA ABOVE WHERE DID THAT COME FROM! KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!" Having no idea just where the music was coming from, Ceolor races up towards the green goblins standing still and slashes out with the kukri.

Frank lights the welder and swings it at the goblin.

Kastien lashed out again at the young dranth, his desire to stay alive conflicting with his innate reaction to the dranth's mewling cries. he knew from his reading that the creature's cries weren't those of an infant, but it sounded much that way to him. Thus, his strike was not as well-placed as it would have otherwise been.

By this point a nimbus of darkness was covering Kastien, nearly swallowing the glow from his armor. He glanced about, trying to see any foes that needed controlling, but saw none. Apparently the goblins nearby were all taken care of at this point.

Kastien ended his move abruptly as the voice monitor from Zo! gave him a new idea. Putting all the empathy he had in his voice, he said in common - loud and slow common, like you do with old people and foreigners - "Calm down little fella. We won't hurt you if you don't hurt us. Deal? No, wait, leave my arm alone you mangy...!"

Yeah, Kastien has the Xenoseeker love for exofauna, but not the skills for it. Deliberately made him flawed that way :)

"You little walking snots got what you deserve!" Chorizal shouts as the last goblin goes down. "Making this poor thing fight for you!"

He turns his attention to the spicodranth, this time not for punching but for affection.

"Aww...you're just a big baby aren't? Just a big, sweet baby!"

Seeing the last goblin fall before him Frank looks up at the beast. He puts out his welder and slowly moves towards the Spicodranth "Ack you wee beastie. You donna wan t' hurt us do ya?"

Frank pulls out some of the Smoke Beetles as a treat if it likes them.

While Kastien fails to calm the creature down, Chorizal and Frank manage, and the Spicodranth licks their hands!

Bill-278 comes forward and lays a hand on the Spicodranth. "Would you like me escort this fine fellow to the dock? We have a xenobiologist that could tend to his wounds."

Kastien, I recommend an investment in Wildwise in your future. That was what Charli chose to do to help her animal friends!

I shall likely pick that up next time we are free.

"I would love the opportunity to study such a fine specimen at a later date. I am glad that we did not have to kill it."

Kastien looked for all the world as if he and he alone were responsible for the creature's salvation.

"Where to next? Did the goblins leave any sign of what they had been doing here?"

"We're not killing the thing? It looks like it would make a REALLY tasty BBQ!. Isn't that we signed up for? Kill things, take their stuff? Or, if they don't have stuff, eat them?"

"Jul, I believe it was you yourself who said 'Do you have to embrace the stereotypes quite THAT much? ' We are not going to kill and eat anything that can be talked down or calmed. That is not the way of the Seeker."

"Haven't you considered little one's feelings Jul? It was clearly deeply scared and frightened. Wouldn't such a reaction have a negative effect on any meal you would make of the poor thing? I'm glad the others were able to calm it down and I'm sure it will be much happier and joyful out of this place. I would have loved to try to converse with the goblins as well if they weren't so hostile."

"So, as your team's self-appointed bad boy, you're taking a risky approach here. You've called the audience idiots, bullied your teammates and offered to slay a mewling creature that the audience clearly wants to save. You are trailing your entire team in Fan Favor... Tell us, what do you like? Do you have a soft side? What do you want the audience to know about you?"

"We can't help but notice the dominance rivalry between you and Chorizal. Who do you think will come on top and why?"

"What are your first impressions of your teammates? Any good gossip or insights that you wish to share?"

While the others discuss the future of the creature, Frank looks over the goblins and the surrounding area.

He finds some rocks.

Chorizal grins as Jul is pulled into the booth. "Can't wait to see how he puts his tail in his mouth when he's by himself,"

He nods to Bill-278 and helps guide the spicodranth to the android.

"What are you talking about, Abistar? Everyone knows that meat is more delicious when it died in terror," he calls out to the man as he also examines the goblins for anything useful, particularly looking at their lasers to see if the batteries are compatible with his own.

He also takes one of the dogslicers and chops a leg off one before tossing it to Wazasha when she comes out of the booth. "There you go, Honey Tongue. A little snack."

Wazasha snatches the leg in mid air and inhales. "So fresh and tasty, thank you!" She blows the big vesk a kiss.

BOOTH TIME!

Wazasha escorts Abistar-4 to the Booth!

"So Abistar-4, tell us about yourself! Where do you come from? What drew you as an android to be such a student of emotions and relationships? That seems an unusual choice, and our audience would love to hear more about it."

"The audience is starting to see you as this team's quiet voice of reason. Do you ever let loose and go crazy? What are your secret passions?"

"You proposed earlier starting a course on excrement of the Pact Worlds. What sorts of exciting revelations would you include in its catalogue?"

"You seem determined to discourage Chorizal in his romantic interests. I hope it's nothing personal..." Wazasha lets her long tongue slide out of her mouth. "I think he seems quite delicious. Why get in the way of the course of true love?"

"What are your first impressions of your teammates so far? Any special insights or gossip to share?"

MEANWHILE, BACK TO THE MAIN SHOW

Chorizal (and even Frank, for this is not hard to see) notices immediately that the goblin's blast also blew a hole in the ceiling, leaving a gaping hole and a makeshift ladder of rebar suitable for someone to climb into the area beyond.

Clambering up the wreckage to reach the next room 20 feet above requires a successful DC 10 Athletics check. You may keep trying if you fail the first time!

Looking at the realities ease of the climb, Frank decides to show up the young vesk of his climbing ability. "Watch how it is done nippers!"

Once Top side, he will throw down a cable line to help anyone else that may need it.

Chorizal snorts at Frank in disdain, the sound not unlike a crocodile clearing it's throat.

"If you can do it with them stumpy legs, Old Man, I can do it better!"

Wazasha pulls Jul into the booth!

"Hello Julkashatil! Why don't you tell us about yourself? Where are you from? What made you decide to become a soldier and then a Starfinder?"

"Can't you tell? I'm from Vesk. Didn't have much choice about becoming a soldier, did I? Like everybody else, I was drafted!. And then when the war ended, I was demobbed.

As to why I became a Starfinder? I get to go to interesting places and meeting interesting people. And Kill them and take their stuff. All legal. And I even get paid for it. Who wouldn't want to be a Starfinder?"

"Franks not bad. He's got my back and I've got his. Hes the only one of the lot that I can trust. But he's a dwarf and they're almost as tough as us Vesk so that is to be expected."

With that, he leaves the booth and climbs up after Frank

"So Abistar-4, tell us about yourself!"

"I was awakened on Verces and, to be able to make my way serving as an assistant in various office positions. While the actions performed were adequate to my continued existence, I was not able to understand the politics within the office. Over the months those proved to be far more computationally complex and interesting to myself. I left and traveled for a period of time, and was suggested art would be a medium that communicates emotion. Through others viewings, I have begun to hear the words undefined and feelings undeclared."

"The audience is starting to see you as this team's quiet voice of reason. Do you ever let loose and go crazy? What are your secret passions?"

"I am honored and humbled by such consideration. I can understand why they are coming to that conclusion. While I deal with various expressions of thought patterns in my work, I try to avoid going insane myself. If I must list a particular work I enjoy myself are the unscripted dramas within the infosphere. The interactions between the current participants inhabitants of Station 164, the contestants on the survival show Low Battery, as well as others that have come and gone over the seasons. Through them I feel as though I can view the emotional spectrum in addition to the infrared."

"You proposed earlier starting a course on excrement of the Pact Worlds. What sorts of exciting revelations would you include in its catalogue?"

"It would be difficult to compress any particular topic, but I recommend anyone who is interested read the guidebook, Poo of the Pact for more complete analysis."

"I think he seems quite delicious. Why get in the way of the course of true love?"

"While Chorizal indeed seems very delicious according to the various visual clues I have been able to draw upon. I believe this high riding emotion will fall soon, and his heart will be broken by that crash and the commitments that come with a relationship with you. A relationship driven by short term desires will create nothing but heartbreak. I have seen various case studies on Station 164."

"What are your first impressions of your teammates so far? Any special insights or gossip to share?"

"They are all reasonably qualified, but I'm worried for the contest of bravado between Chorizal, Jul, and Frank. I believe it will likely end on one getting injured. Kastien seems highly educated and insightful such that I feel I can rely on their judgement. Ceolor is a hot blooded, but that energy will prove critical to our venture." He looks to both sides of the booth to give a conspiratorial suggestion as he states, "As for gossip, I can sense that Ceolor's aversion to song and dance goes far further than he lets on. I am 51% confident he gave me an statistically more fearsome gaze after hearing me humming a few bars from the small instrumental."

In his attempt to seem knowledgeable and well educated on everyone, Abistar-4 comes off as pretentious and far more so than many would be willing to tolerate for too much longer.

Completely satisfied with his time in the booth, Abistar-4 looks with some worry at the rebar as he slowly hefts his way up. "I would recommend stairs for further expeditions."

Ceolor calms down after the last goblin goes down and the music stops. He realizes what he'd done and decides to pose for a second, stating in a deeper than normal voice, "Why end a fight when you can end a planet!" He then glances over at Jul a wry smile on his lips.

After making sure to have shown off the weapon well enough, Ceolor moves back towards the group, streching some, "Ah, glad that didn't turn into a full song and dance number!" As he gets near, he tries to give the dranth a few scritches on what looks like a good place to scratch before jogging after everyone else.

Not sure he'd be able to show off getting up the ladder, Ceolor takes his time. "Arrgh, I think Abistar has it right, why can't we have some proper stairs? I'm terrible at pulling myself up things like this."

Despite his words he proves able to get up, though just barely.

Kastien followed the rest, clambering up the rusty ladder without showmanship or particular bent to style.

Nearly at the top Ceolor gives a wry smile and then with a small exclaim of surprise feints like he'd missed a step and was just about to fall on Kastien. "Oh no! Kastien watch out!"

Kastien flinched as Ceolor seemed to be falling. The solarian wrapped one arm through a ladder rung, the thrust out the other, prepared to snag or support a falling Ceolor. When nothing happened, he opened his eyes and looked up to see the akitonian grinning at him.

"Oh yes, very funny. Pretend to fall and hope poor Kastien falls off the ladder trying to catch you. You know, we have a story on Castrovel about a lashunta girl who called out 'Renkroda!' just to see her friends and family run scared. Then one day, there really was a renkroda and all her friends and family were killed. She pulled out her own tongue in shame because she knew that she was the cause of their deaths. Do not be the Renkroda-girl, Ceolor! I may not be so quick to offer help next time."

Ceolor gives a brief mirthful laugh and scrambles the rest of the way up the ladder before turning around to help the other solarian up. When he's clear, Ceolor claps him on the shoulder and smiles broadly. "Ah, yes, I know that story, I think Akiton has a similar version of the hylki who cried shobad too many times. I was just joshing with you, though. You should have seen the look on your face! It was hilarious. Though if you really don't like me playing with you, I'll hold off."

The camera crew films the proceedings, doing a close-up on Ceolor's playful bluff and Kastien's reaction. Once you've all climbed, the film crew unfolds a portable gangway and saunters up the hole, rolling their equipment in front of them. Wazasha grins as she strolls up in her high heels, and then looks around with you.

The region beyond is a large cavern that sparkles with phosphorescent fungi—represented by the trees on the map— whose caps span as much as ten feet in diameter. The goblins' explosion from below has buckled the cavern floor here, leaving a concentric impression in the ground where there appears to have just been unaffected stone before.

These buckled rings are about 1 foot high, and stepping across one costs 1 extra square of movement (as if entering an area of difficult terrain).

Coming out from one of the tunnels, dressed in archaic but well-crafted armor, is a young dwarven woman. She looks at the hole in the floor, and then at all of you. Shaking only slightly, she stands straight, and addresses you with a bold voice. "地球的精神，你為什麼來？ 我們激怒了你嗎？ 如果是這樣的話，請幫我安慰你把你的憤怒轉移到其他地方。 如果你尋求惡作劇，要知道我站在你面前，準備好保護我的人民免受傷害。"

The camera crew, and Wazasha, are riveted by this turn of events, and filming furiously.

The map is on Slide One.

Frank looks over the newly found dwarf with a bit of shock. Then cautiously steps forward and speaks:

Chorizal pulls Clatty free as soon as he is off the ladder. He aims it at the dwarf as soon as she appears, though when it becomes evident that she's talking and not fighting, he holds off firing.

He calls over to Jul.

"What's she saying,Frank? Do we need to blast her or is she a long lost girlfriend?" he asks in common.

When Chorizal speaks in common, the dwarven woman's eyebrows raise. She asks Frank, "為什麼你的同伴用神秘的靈魂說話呢?"

She stands up straight and addresses Chorizal with a bow, "Critical error!" She seems very pleased with her knowledge of this useful phrase in common.

When she speaks to him, Chorizal lowers his gun. He does not bow but gives a prominent nod in return to her bow.

"Indeed it was. But one that can be easily forgiven. I'm glad you speak Common. What are you doing here?"

She looks panicked as Chorizal continues to speak to her in common. She scrunches her face a moment, as if searching her memory for something else to say and then says, "Sequence initiated!" She glances at Chorizal, hopefully.

Frank looks over at Chorizal and waits a moment to see if she really understands. Then proceeds in Dwarven for the moment introducing everyone:

"Please, Frank, translate for us so that we can all participate. It seems this woman knows some technical jargon from common, though not what the words themselves mean. Much like a octaparrot back home can repeat phrases it has heard without really knowing the intent or meaning behind them."

"Please let her know that we have no intent on harming her or her people. Also tell her that we managed to kill several goblins in the chamber below, and that the goblins should no longer pose a threat in this immediate area."

"Also, find out if she has a map of this area. It might give us a better idea of where we need to go from here."

Abistar-4 moves backward with over exaggerated astonishment as he sees the dwarven woman and the ongoing conversation between her and Frank. "I'm certainly surprised and taken aback to find others here. Although in a non-negative way, again it is more pleasant to be able to learn than to find conflict."

Speaking to her through Frank, Abistar-4 says, "It is my pleasure to me meet you Critical. I am no spirit however as I still have physical form. How did you end up here? This seems to be a very out of the way location far off the common trade routes."

Abistar-4 will also take a few moments to focus and get an empathic reading from the woman to discover her feeling and intent toward the party.

With Frank translating, the woman bows to all of you, continuing to speak in Dwarvish.

Which I am now writing out in Common, because it will just make everything easier.

"Greetings to you, travelers. It was good of you to slay the goblins that might have endangered my clan." The woman bows. “I am Ylga Tulgarst, daughter of Ulfrodi. I speak for my clan. Will you come with me and meet my people?” She looks to Abistar-4. "Abistar, my name is not 'Critical' but that is a word from the holy tongue that comes from the sky." She cocks her head as she looks at him. "Are you a dwarf? You appear almost as one, but a bit more... silvery?" Then she shrugs. "Before you came, there was another holy phrase uttered, one that I have never heard before."

Going back a bit

Jul watches the antics of Celor with contempt very, very obvious on his face.

Apparently totally missing the irony, he replies to Fancy Boy

"ဒါဟာအမြဲဟုတ်တယ်, ငါ့ထံသို့အတော်လေးရိုင်းပုံရသည်"

"It sounds like she has been isolated here a very LONG time. I wonder if she even recognizes a Vesk?"

In an act that may surprise some of the viewers, he sheathes his longsword and pistol and holds up his empty hands

"Please tell her we mean her no harm"

"I mean you no harm as well, Jul-ka-sha-til of the Vesk people." Ylga pronounces Jul's name carefully, but accurately. It is clear that she has an excellent memory for names and phrases.
