Based on the one scenario that I saw, I have a hard time seeing Flyn as a death risk.
I very very nearly lost my -1 playing (way) out of tier on 7-17. Our beast of a tank bit it on that session too. It was ugly
I can recall three times where it got hairy with Flyn. The first two were in The Blakros Matrimony, run by supervillain (aka the Revered Master Poh). Twice I nearly bit it there. First off, a flying Ulfen maniac smacked me around like a rag doll, knocking me down to 1 hp; if I recall correctly, I was a missed confirm crit roll away from biting it. And then later on in the scenario, we were fighting another flying creature, a shadow demon I think; it knocked me down to 2 hp and then I went unconscious as I decided to stay near the wall of fire it cast and took the residual damage so I could fire twice and try to take it out. I didn't kill it but I knocked it below its morale limit and it fled ending the encounter and someone stabilized me. I probably wouldn't have survived without my manticore-bearded cloak, though...
Then Kelemur (aka Azrael) and Flyn played In Wrath's Shadow. The boss was this kick-ass high-level undead Ghoul Cleric. He cast Unholy Blight and Chaos Hammer on back-to-back turns; Flyn being Lawful Good, he got smoked. I think we finally killed him off with Kelemur being unconscious and Flyn down to single digit hp...
While a bit scary, those were both very fun and memorable scenarios...

Ha ha!! :-)
Supervillan scenarios seem challenging! Will never forget ‘Salvation of the Sages ‘ run by GM supervillan- super fun!!

Only one I remember offhand was The Blakros Matrimony. I don't remember who ran it. Just re-checked...GM Shnell(?)
I spend half PP and half GP for the Raise Dead and full PP for the 2 Restorations.

![]() |

Doesn't surprise me that it was that scenario. While I enjoyed it (surviving it helped) and had lots of fun, the encounters were very tough and challenging. Our final demon fight didn't last near that long, probably because I don't recall many of our characters failing the fear save...but it lasted long enough for me to be knocked unconscioius right as the shadow demon fled...

GM supervillan |

The final encounter in Blakros Matrimony can be deadly.
I try to always play bad guys in a way that befits their intelligence and motivations, within the constraints set by scenario tactics. Hopefully this provides for a challenging and fun experience :)

Ridley's day job:
Craft Alchemy: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (7) + 28 = 35
That was a fun mod - I don't think Kramac had any effective way to fight the demon between incorporeal and the DR.
Surprisingly, I've never really had a close call with death, despite my -1 being a frontline tank.

The good thing about being an archer is that you can hit from range and many times avoid direct retribution. The bad thing about being an archer in that scenario was I hit the two baddies pretty hard on my early attacks in each encounter, and they saw me as a big threat...and both could fly; thus, they could reach me easily and pound me. I came up with Flyn's Corollary after that mission: Flying Badasses Trump Elven Archers...
That was a fun scenario though and supervillan ran it very well...it was also my introduction to high fashion and manticore beards...

I have only had one character die on me- a ratfolk alchemist playing through Giant Slayer. I legit thought he was un-killable, and played him that way. He got engulfed in a variant gelatinous cube (reflex save of 24 failed to keep him from being engulfed) and a party member blasted the cube with an AOE spell that the GM ruled I took damage on and autofailed the reflex. The cube didn't die, but it cost me 60% of my HP. Finally got out of the cube on my turn, and it had reach(!) and killed me on the AoO when trying to get away (hp below negative con). I still miss him.

![]() |

I had one other character that very nearly died...can't recall the scenario but Batpony was running it; as Flyn was in another module, I played a different PC that was playing out of tier (on the low side). I was trying to disarm a trap and rolled fairly high; unfortunately, I didn't factor in the higher tier and still fell more than 5 short of the DC setting it off; I was a saving throw away from permadeath but luckily rolled high on my save...
Oh, almost forgot the reason I came to post here; I got your Chronicles ready at the link below:
Wonders in the Weave Part I Chronicles
Let me know if there are any issues with either the Chronicles or the reporting...
Working on the prep for the next module...might be able to start a little earlier than I was thinking, perhaps tonight or tomorrow morning...

My -1 is the only character I've had die in PFS. He died twice.
First time was down to an axe crit from a demon at level 3. The rest of the table very kindly chipped in to pay for a raise. It was the final encounter in a multi-table special, and we'd done really well as a team.
The second and final death occurred at level 5 in Cairn of Shadows, a season 5 scenario. I had an atrocious run on the dice, and the GM rolled well above average damage on a fall. I've since calculated the odds of Xan dying that way at over 3000-1! Plus, the scenario text is quite ambiguous about the hazard. I didn't have the gold or prestige for another raise and two of the players at the table were new guys with pregens so the table didn't really have the resources for it either. It was an epic story though...
Chronicle looks good btw!

![]() |

Chronicles good by me. Thanks!

![]() |

I have two character that are permanetly dead at 3L. One of which was a Dwarven fighter with Toughness that was 1-shoted by a returning axe artifact....caster casts Truestrike as they approach....does a +34 confirm? Dropped me to exactly 1 below my CON.
The worst one was the Elven Entanglement. Can you say 1st battle TPK at the end of the 2nd round?
Chronicle looks good. Ready to play.

![]() |

Level 3 is a difficult level - you don't have enough prestige or gold for a raise, typically.
Elven Entanglement has a reputation. I have yet to attempt it. Given that it's a 7-11 I have a couple of level 11s I'd be willing to send.

![]() |

![]() |

One of my level 11s is an elf ancient lorekeeper oracle, originally from Kyonin. I'd probably take him.

![]() |

I am looking forward to having a high level character. Ischell here at 6 (almost 7) and my -1 (level 5) are my closest. There a good many “high level” scenarios I would like to play. I am not sure what PF2 is going to change about volume/availability of high level PF1 games.

![]() |

Kramac is finishing up his current scenario and will be looking for his next soon. I'd be game if you want to try to find something together supervilan.

Yeah, my only character that perma-died was 3rd level. He could've easily survived the encounter, but he dove in the water to save an important NPC VIP (Guaril Karela) who would've otherwise died. I saved him, albeit indirectly, but was killed as a result of some hot dice rolling by the GM and a retcon to correct another player's action that was beneficial to me but was later judged to be not allowed (which the rules confirmed)...
Flyn's approaching 10th level so maybe the Elven Entanglement might be a good one to take on when he levels up...

![]() |

I hope we will play pf1 for a long time! :-)
I hope so as well...I wasn't impressed with the PF2 playtest and probably won't pursue it unless a lot changes upon the official release...

![]() |

I've no interest in pf2.
My elf, Quenly, would very much like to play Tapestry's Trial. Preferably with any GM I'm familiar with. There's a certain NPC that Quenly has a special relationship with. Then it would be good to finish up level 11 with a return home to Kyonin in Elven Entanglement :)
My hellknight-alchemist, Doctor Drokk, would like to play What Prestige Is Worth. I also quite fancy a crack at Runelord Krune with Drokk. I plan to GM the 5 "Krune Saga" scenarios at some point, but first...
Kiboko has just started the Glories of the Past trilogy in PbP (also featuring Kelumur). He'll be level 10.0 at the end of that, but I expect it to last 6-9 months. Another PC in this trilogy is interested in finishing the Krune run afterwards.
I have a level 10 cleric (Nana) who would like to play the conclusion to the Sevenfingers plotline (On Sevenfingers' Sails) but I'll wait till she's level 11. Those Gloomspires adventures are dangerous! (Maybe I'll try the hard-mode).

![]() |

I ran through Glories of the Past with a lower tier character or otherwise I'd have tried to get in that one with Flyn...6-9 months seemed kinda long to me but, when I checked, it took right at 6 months when Daedin went through it. I had considered trying to run that one when I saw the request, but since I'm DM'ing a couple of series at present, thought I might be stretching things a bit. I saw that GM Elan Morin picked it up and he's a better GM than I so y'all are in good hands...
If you find someone to run Quenly through Tapestry's Trial and the Elven Entanglement, Flyn would be interested if he's at 10th level by then...

![]() |

Got most of the prep work done and I think most everyone has posted they're ready to continue, so I'll kick off Part II in the Gameplay thread shortly...

![]() |

Tapestry's Trial is actually the game I am just finishing up. We're on the last part right now.

![]() |

Yeah, that was pretty awesome...as I said during the Tower of the Ironwood Watch session, with you and Poh, it's hard enough to get a melee attack through...looks like now that applies to ranged attacks as well...

![]() |

I hope you all have a great weekend!
GM, I think we posted simultaneously and you did not see my post in the gameplay. .
Thanks for the great game GM Otha!! :-D

![]() |

You are right, Zaarah, I missed that post. So strange as I recall reading both Azrael's and Poh's post that were immediately after it but completely missed that one...sorry about that, I'm getting old...will update now...

![]() |

Ha ha!! You are thousand times more organised than I. :-)

![]() |

I think you simul posted with Zaarah and missed her post again.

![]() |

I should have your Chronicles to you by tonight...if a day job roll is needed and you haven't already done so, please do so now...
Enjoyed running y'all through these two scenarios; y'all were a pleasure to GM. Thanks for bearing with me. As always, any constructive criticism is welcome as I'm always looking to get better as a GM...

![]() |

You are a great GM! I really enjoyed these games! :-)

I've got the game reported and just about have the Chronicles ready to go...unless I've missed 'em, need day job rolls from (I think) Poh and Ridley...so it might be tomorrow for your Chronicles as I can only edit PDFs at work...
ETA: Thanks Zaarah, really like your character and you role-play her well...seems we have a knack for simultaneous posting. ;)

GM, just some more context. I really like that you flesh out the world and NPCs and really try to understand the players’ characters. It was super fun!

Poh completes another 'liberate one or more captives, hostages or slaves' faction goal, and so he's free to make a Day Job roll:

I agree, esp. with all the monk stuff flying around. Thing can get complicated quick. Fun to watch, hard to run.

I've got the Chronicles for Azrael, Ischell, Phosdlon, and Zaarah ready at this link:
Wonders in the Weave Part II Chronicles
Poh, I saw your post with the day job roll after I got home from work; since I can only edit PDFs at work, I should have it available to tomorrow morning, my time...
Ridley, I'll have yours ready once I get your day job roll...
Let me know if there's any issue with either the Chronicles or the reporting...

Enjoyed playing with you Phosdlon. My favorite fantasy characters, in reading and in RPG, have always been Elven archers...after seeing Phosdlon in action, I'll be considering durable arrows in the future for several of my characters, hadn't really seen 'em in use much before this session...

![]() |

"Basic" ones are 1GP each. Cold Iron and Adamantine have to be purchased in groups of 50. Phosdlon started with 50 Cold Iron and 50 Adamantine.

![]() |

Cool...how much were the 50 cold iron and 50 adamantine?

Ischell certainly has some rules quirks that go along with him!
I really enjoyed the group and enjoyed the DMing. I have a couple games going now, but this was both the fastest and the best RP/story, and usually you only get one or the other. I consider that a huge win!

Arrow, Durable (1GP each)
Benefit: Durable arrows don’t break due to normal use, whether or not they hit their target; unless the arrow goes missing, an archer can retrieve and reuse a durable arrow again and again. Durable arrows can be broken in other ways (such as deliberate snapping, hitting a fire elemental, and so on). Drawback: If crafted with magic (such as bane), the magic only lasts for one use of the arrow, but the nonmagical arrow can still be reused or imbued with magic again.
Adamantine (50@3050GP total)
HP/inch 40 (weapons and armor normally made of steel that are made of adamantine have one-third more hit points than normal.; Hardness 20; Cost Adamantine is so costly that weapons and armor made from it are always of masterwork quality; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given.
Type of Item Item Cost Modifier
Ammunition +60 gp per missile
Light armor +5,000 gp
Medium armor +10,000 gp
Heavy armor +15,000 gp
Weapon +3,000 gp
Adamantine is extremely strong and favored by weapon and armor smiths alike for its ability to cut through solid barriers with ease and endure heavy blows.Weapons fashioned from adamantine have a natural ability to bypass hardness when sundering weapons or attacking objects, ignoring hardness less than 20. Armor made from adamantine grants its wearer damage reduction of 1/— if it’s light armor, 2/— if it’s medium armor, and 3/— if it’s heavy armor. Adamantine is so costly that weapons and armor made from it are always of masterwork quality; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given. Thus, adamantine weapons and ammunition have a +1 enhancement bonus on attack rolls, and the armor check penalty of adamantine armor is lessened by 1 compared to ordinary armor of its type. Items without metal parts cannot be made from adamantine. An arrow could be made of adamantine, but a quarterstaff could not.
Iron, Cold (50@2GP each)
HP/inch 30; Hardness 10; Cost Weapons x2 normal. Add magic enhancement +2,000 gp. This iron, mined deep underground and known for its effectiveness against demons and fey creatures, is forged at a lower temperature to preserve its delicate properties. Weapons made of cold iron cost twice as much to make as their normal counterparts. Also, adding any magical enhancements to a cold iron weapon increases its price by 2,000 gp. This increase is applied the first time the item is enhanced, not once per ability added. Items without metal parts cannot be made from cold iron. An arrow could be made of cold iron, but a quarterstaff could not. A double weapon with one cold iron half costs 50% more than normal.

Craft alchemy day job: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (9) + 25 = 34
Thanks for running!

![]() |

I'll get Poh's and Ridley's Chronicles updated with the day job rolls and should have 'em posted later this morning, but no later than this evening; I'll post here when I've got 'em ready for you two...
Again, if there are any errors with either the posting or the Chronicles, let me know and I'll get it fixed...
Thanks for the durable info, Phosdlon! Definitely gonna be looking into those arrows for Flyn, especially for adamantine...and perhaps mithral…
Ridley, if Kramac finds a higher-level game with another opening, please let me know as Flyn just hit 10th level and I'll do the same. Got to get Flyn prepared so he'll be ready to run through Eyes with Kramac and Kiboko when the time comes...
Thanks again for playing. Y'all were a great group to GM and I had a lot of fun with these sessions. Y'all worked very well together as a team; with Poh's luglurch, Azrael's arrow-deflecting, Ridley's concoctions, Zaarah's black blade, Ischell's adamantine kama, and Phosdlon's marksmanship, the Aspis never stood a chance! Maybe we can do another one some time...

![]() |

Thanks for the game everyone :)
GM, Kiboko is currently in Glories of the Past which will take him to 10.0. Then we should have a module with Batpony, running to 11.0. I want to sneak in a GM chronicle at some point to complete one of the Liberty's Edge faction journal cards, but that'll need to wait till after Glories. I'll try and do some face to face games with Kiboko after that and get him up to level 12 next year for Eyes.

![]() |

Seems like just yesterday when Flyn, Kiboko, and Kramac were getting confirmed together...
I finished the Glories of the Past trilogy with Daedin (you just GM'ed him during Outpost, Poh) earlier this year...it's a fun one but I hope y'all have a good rogue with y'all. ;)
Speaking of faction cards, when I apply one more GM credit to Flyn, I'll finish up the next to last goal. I think Phosdlon is the only one of you that's already 7th level; when the rest of you 7th, let me know and I can try to run y'all thru a 7-11 scenario that I could apply to Flyn...and then all I have to do to finish off the faction card is find a scenario where I can save either a Venture-Captain or a Master from a deadly situation. Anyone know of such a scenario?
