Kat has +7 pilot, anyone have higher? Or does anyone else really wanna do it? edit, Just saw Rin's post

"I'd love the opportunity, but I'm probably not the best. I'm happy to have done my part and get this involved in the race." She replies to Rin.

I differ to your experiance in piloting. But I hope you don't mind some suggestions Adrion says, the last sentence kind of to everyone.

Rin nods and then cracks a smile to Core, "Professor, I can't imagine flying without some of your suggestions"

Adrion gives a small chuckle funny because you always have

The announcer came over the loud speakers and introduced the racers, taking great care to point out the rivalry between Ratrod and Laboni. Then, he had the racers takes their place and start their engines. With the electronic rendition of an air horn, engines roared and weapons fired. The race has begun!

Every Round I need all rolls made, and then I will resolve the round. So, let's start! Gunnery and piloting checks, please!

Adrion gives some suggestions based off of some physic mumbo jumbo to Rin based on the engine, weight of the vehicle, and such. he leaves out the science and goes to the action of the suggestion.
pilot assist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Rin focuses on the display board and grasps the controls

Piloting: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Kat lets out an oddly out of place monotone cheer as the race begins, emerging back with the team after a quick run to the vendors with a giant pretzel and a can of beer in hand.

Having watched the races before, she keeps a keep eye out on the other racers and will offer advice on strategy at the start of the race.

Aid Mega Gelub: 1d20 ⇒ 15 what modifier should be used to aid Gunnery?

Gunnery would be BAB+DEX+Racer Attack Modifier (-1)

Thanks, that would be 15 + 2 (0 BAB, +3 Dex, -1)for a 17 on the aid.

Gelub fires at velocity hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 vs KAC. edit, even with the aid, which I just now saw, I miss.

The starting line exploded with weapons fire and the racers took off. In the packed starting block it was hard to see how anyone could miss, but some of the racers had better aiming and armor systems than others. In the end, only Laboni and Ratrod were hit, but both racers made it safely out of the starting gate and moving at full speed. In fact, all the racers were at full throttle except Nyizin, who swerved to miss Velocity and ended up scraping a fender on the stanchion.

Above the noise of the crowd, you can hear the announcer calling out the positions. "Oh, look at the near collision! Nyizin is goign to struggle to make up for that slow start out of the gate. But what's this? The Starfinder Alboni has taken a surprising early lead, with Lemgem close behind. Ratrod and Orsis are breathing down the leaders' necks, with Velocity behind them. What an exciting start! Can teh challenger hold the lead to the end? Or will she fall to the same hubris that led her to call Ratrod out? Only time will tell. It's down to nerves and gunnery now. Anything can happen at this point!"

Round 2, go!

Accelerating to as fast as the racer will go, Rin concentrates on the controls. "Come one, let's leg this out a little further."

Piloting: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Gelub fires at Velocity again hit: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (4) = 7 vs KAC.

Since no amount of assists will make Gelub's shot a hit, and Rin nailed the piloting roll, I'm going to move us forward.

[Announcer]
"Look at that, folks! It seems that almost everyon is out to get Laboni. Bt what skill! Her driver dodged behind that junkpile jest as teh weapons were converging, and she widens the lead! Legem is right behind her, but it looks like that speed boost she had at the start isn't working now, as she is losing ground. Oh, wait! Did you see that? Ratrod tried to avoid the shot from Orsis by driving straight into the lashunta! Both of them are locked together and headed for that junkpile...oh, narrow miss there. That could have been the end for both of them, but now they've got even more ground to make up on the leaders, and they are sucking exhaust fumes!"

Round 3, go!

"Were approaching the hair pin, try to get a shot on Legem as they enter the turn. I have seen it work with deviating results before" Kat offers Gelub.
Aid Gunnery: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 1 = 6
She gives an "Oh Look!" and points as she watches Ratrod and Orsis make contact, that almost verges on sounding excited. She takes another bite of her giant pretzel and a swig of her drink, watching on with interest.

Rin takes a quick glance over at Kat5 and Gelub and has a laugh. Well at least we're enjoying this race!

Refocusing, Rin maneuvers the craft into the tight turn ahead. "Hang on Laboni, it's going to be pulling some G's"

Piloting: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 = 28

Botting Gelub, Seren, and Spy

[Announcer]
"Would you look at that! Laboni has been hit several times, but she is still hanging on! That girl has nerves of steel...and a great remote pilot too, it rumors are correct. And did you see that shot? Right between two junk piles while going around a curve to hit Lemgem squarely on the front fairing, but that gnome's not slowing down. in fact, it looks like her speed boost is engaged again. In the middle of the pack, Orsis blasted Ratrod, slowing the ysoki once more and is catching up to the front runners. Oh! And Nyizin and Velocity have both hit scrap obstacles and slowed down. I don't think they're coming back from that. It looks like this race is all but over, folks. Now we just have to see whether Laboni or Lemgem will cross that line first!"

Round 4, go!

man we are doing good Adrion says a little excited himself just a little farther Nd we've made it.

Hearing the announcer call out, Rin gets a big smile and waves over his shoulder. "I'm never one to miss out on some recognition, thanks to my new fans."

After catching what Rin thinks is a stern look from the Professor, he turns back to the display and ease the racer further in.

Piloting: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

It may have looked stern, but Proffecer Core was enjoying himself too.
The loom he may have given was more of an 'oh brother' look at what may have turned into a bigger head later.

"You're doing great Rin! Stay low into the next corner"

Assist Pilot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

She mumbles with a mouthful of giant pretzel, spitting out large chunks of salt as she speaks. "I'm out of cheese dipping sauce..."

Noticing Gelub isn't focusing too well on the gun, she bumps him over

"Look at the newcomer go! Laboni managed to hold onto that racer despite the heavy fire targeting her. And, it looks like Lemgem couldn't do that same. She slammed into that junkpile and came to a dead stop. Going to be hard to come back from that one. Looks like Velocity is taking the second position, with Ratrod and Orsis and Nyizin coming in close behind. Looks like the leader is well-established, but who will make the second spot?"

Round 5, go!

I wonder if it's just luck we went through all that fire he says before giving more suggestions to piloting.

Looking up from the screen, Rin notices Kat’s encouraging. ”Hey, where’d you get the pretzel at? You wanna run this while I get one?”

Shocked, Kat takes the controls and aids Laboni over the finish line.

Piloting: 1d20 + 7 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 6 = 28

"Wow, I can't believe it. Thanks so much Rin for letting me get behind the wheel. You did all the hard work, I hope you don't feel as though I stole your glory at the end. I appreciate the gesture. That was...fun. Way better than on the screens at the bars. Your pretzel is on me."

Adrion laughed at and with his companions as they cross.
well, time to teach this young mind humility he sighed as he walked down the the finish line to speak with Laboni of the things that had happened

”A good pilot knows another one when he sees them. Given I’m a crap pilot, I just guessed you’d be good!”. Chewing on his pretzel, Rin smiles as the victory is official and a long day has been worth it.

Laboni's racer blew through the end stanchions almost a quarter of the track ahead of anyone else. The speed modifications, and her amazing pit crew, really paid off. The crowd went wild at Laboni's victory, as the announcer shouted in disbelief. As Laboni wheeled the junkracer back to her pit area, she had a wild grin on her face. "We did it! well, you did most of the work, but that was amazing!" She looked over to see Ratrod fuming on his junkracer, staring hard at you. "I'll be right back."

Laboni went over to the ysoki and said something, sticking out her hand. Ratrod stared at it for a moment, then slapped it with his paw, saying something back and nodding towards Soryn. The two were deep in conversation for a moment, then Laboni came trotting back over.

"I apologized for being a smartass, and told Ratrod I wanted to quit the Starfinders and do this full-time. He agreed to have me on the circuit, in mostly remote driving races. There's even a spot for my driver. What d'you say Rin? Want to take up junkrace piloting full time for a while? Just until I build up my own skills, right? I mean, the rest of you are welcome too. You were amazing. We're a matched set. Please?"

In a short time later, after you had helped Laboni stow her control rig and push the junkracer onto its transport, a race official wearing the uniform of one of Ratrod's Salvage Union mercs wheeled over a bin. "The boss sent over some extra gear for you, as a concession. He didn't think you'd mind payment in gear as well as credits." On top of the box were several credit sticks, and inside was a set of graphite carbon skin armor, a racing helmet, and some control couplings that looked to be state of the art. Laboni grabbed the helmet and couplings, and then snatched half the credsticks, shoving them into a pocket.

"The rest is yours. Thanks for helping me out back there. You not only saved my rep, but got me the job of my dreams. Thanks a lot!"

no problem, the pleasure was ourd he says but you stiull need to remember to be humble, humility can save you trouble like this and more

Eyes twinkling, Seren smiled

Our pleasure Laboni, the race was exhilarating!

Seren glances over the armor but shrugs, evidently deciding to keep what she already has.

I had no doubt in my mind we would finish the race

"Finishing is one thing, big guy, but people tune in to see the winners, and the crashers. The first group is a way better group to be a part of."

Kat politely declines Laboni's offer of pit crewing full time. She is happy to continue tuning in and watching the races, but has bigger ambitions.

She spies the armour. "I'd take this armour if no one else wanted it"

it is all yours Adrion says I would prefer to stay light on my feet at the moment

If anyone else wants it, it's theirs! I just didn't want to see it go unused. Kat would throw it on before moving on from the track if no one else wants it.

"I've thought about a career in these types of gigs, but hey, I just got IN the Starfinders! Too busy to quit on the first day" Rin smiles on through the pretzel bites, clearly pleased with the outcome.

I'm good on the gear, have at it

Finishing his grub, Rin wipes his hands on his pants and looks up "What's next crew?"

Suddenly Pon emerges from amidst the crowd, dressed once more in the business suit and briefcase. "Fitch," he says matter-of-factly.

right Adrion says shall we go then?

After excusing herself to change, Kat returns in the new and slightly less revealing but still skin tight carbon skin armour. She seems preoccupied with the fit of her leather jacket over the new armour when she looks up at the others waiting to go.

"Sorry for the delay. I'm ready to move."

The headquarters for the Wayfinders is in the Armada, an enormous starship called the Master of Stars. A shuttle has been placed at your disposal, and within moments it has lifted off and is headed into the space surrounding Absalom station.

The station’s Armada can be seen from the shuttle’s view screen as it takes off, gleaming figures standing out against the emptiness of space. The Master of Stars immediately stands out from the rest, as layers and layers of scaffolding obscure its hull. Tiny lights flicker among the metal beams as distant figures weld plates and heat shields to the ship’s exterior. The shuttle smoothly glides closer until it reaches the starship’s docking bay, slipping through the magic field that keeps the hold pressurized with breathable atmosphere. As the shuttle doors open, a small drone flies in and pops up a holoscreen, displaying a harried-looking ratfolk.

“Finally, fresh meat!” the ysoki exclaims over the screen, sounding pleased. “Name’s Fitch—pleasantries over, time to get to work. I had some trouble earlier with the lights flickering on the ship, and now both the lights and computers have suddenly gone out on E-Deck. No idea what’s causing it, but you work this job long enough and—” Fitch’s attention flicks to something offscreen, and she shouts “Kirkath! The welding torch is not a toy! You wanna go in the toddler’s pen with the other kids?” She snorts dismissively before continuing, “Sorry, some of these little ones would cut off their own heads if I let them. Anyway, it could be some lunkhead screwed up the wiring, but that’s a pretty big system failure for a simple electrical short. I’d prefer to send in some people with combat training to scout it out, just in case someone or something is sabotaging the ship. If it’s nothing, great, get the power back on if you can. If there’s something suspicious, use your comm units to report in to me. I’ll give you the access codes, so— Selicha! If you touch that panel I will staple you to the hull!”

The screen on the drone cuts out, then flashes to display the ship’s schematics and the passwords for the computers on E-Deck.

Seren nods

Ready

She catches Kat5e's eyes.

It looks good, a good fit for you

she smiles and then turns, waiting for everyone to be ready to move.

After the shuttle flight and abrupt briefing, Seren shrugs

Well, we better get moving...

She brings up a schematic and plans a route to E-deck.

"Now that's a ship, look at the size of it. I need me one of these to run the gambit on someday." Almost the affected tourist, Rin tries to take in all that he can in the docking bay.

After the Ysoki finishes, Rin goes back and grabs his pack and gear from the shuttle. Holstering the sidearm, he looks to the others "E-deck then? Can't be anything terrible about hunting some problem in the dark huh?"

this is a first contact and exploration ship is it not? Adrion says in thought who knows what will be wondering around

You head to the lifts, settling your armor and preparing yourselves as best you can for anything. The life ride to E-deck doesn't take long, and the door opens to a completely darkened corridor. A few feet in is a computer terminal on the wall, a faint blue glow showing that it has power, even if the lights do not.

It looks good, a good fit for you

"Thanks. Not sure what to do with the helmet. I don't breathe in vacuum, but I guess I should keep it handy so the organic compounds in my face don't flash freeze. It will mess up my hair too" She returns the smile.

On board the shuttle Kat joins the others in glancing out the windows towards the Armada. "I've hardly ever left the slums, let alone the station. This is exactly why I'm here with the Starfinders." She continues to stare out the windows as they approach The Master of Stars, though more stoic than her previous near-excitememt at the track.

In the lift, Kat checks her rifle and new armour one last time. As the doors open she glances out with her darkvision and scans the room, stepping out into the corridor.
