All squares that contain any logs or branches are difficult terrain and the ferns provide cover.

So you'd think at first, but it actually seem quite agile. You're fairly sure you just saw it take a 5' step as part of a ready action when Dain got close.

Ref for Violet Etheroot: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
The plant dodges most of the blast with lightning-like reflexes.

The Yellow field of colours rises through the ground from behind Dain. Despite not having any sort of obvious appendages, you still feel somewhat threatened by it. Just warning you that it can take AoO's despite not necessarily looking like it, and it provides flank.

The flower takes a quick step closer and starts swinging it's tentacles wildly around it.

The first two whip-like strikes sweep the legs from under the melee combatants, planting them face first into the ground and inflicting some minor wounds. The Violet Etheroot, however, does not stop there.

The slender vines keep beating on the dwarf, nearly pummeling him into unconsciousness. Just when you think it's finally over, the plant reveals it's mouth, filled with sharp teeth and mounted on an even longer tentacle.
Bite vs Dain: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 14 + 2 + 4 = 26
Dmg vs Dain: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Taking a bite out of dwarf's arm, the Dain finally stops struggling.
Will for Dain, Suppress C&C, Hardy: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 4 + 2 = 23 -> success, no other effects besides damage.

I turned Dain and Reesa Upside down to make it clear they are unconscious and Tachonius sideways since he's just prone.
Tachonius may post!

EDIT: I forgot to take into account that the first hit on Dain activates his spellstoring armor and frostbite. I edited it into the final stats (causing Dain to take 5 damage less and the flower taking 13 damage more) but I didn't edit the modifiers into the rolls, the rest of the strikes still hit apart from the natural 1.

By my counting, you should now have one 3rd level spell left, and summon monster 3 is the only one you didn't lose.

Otto, the effect is not a spell so you didn't use up your dark archive boon
Reesa and Tachonius may post! Reesa is prone and has 4 hp left!

Question...does anyone else have a Friend of the Green boon? I’m pretty sure it is from the Dragon’s Demand Module. I would like to use that boon to have a CSW Spell cast on me. Problem is, I didnt write down if it is a free, Swift, or standard action. If it is a free or Swift, I also want to cast a magic missile at the one threatening the Great Vanzetti. Magic missile damage 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 2) + 4 = 12. If not, I’ll just have to take the CSW and recover 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 2, 2) + 8 = 18 hit points.

This is an interesting idea. Otto actually has an air walk spell as well. Somehow I just assumed they were flying around. GM, is that not the case? Does it appear that if we were in the air we would not be able to be trampled? No worries if we don't know the answer to that.

Otto moves adjacent to the Teal psychemental and calls upon the aid of his friend Shathva to bash it. Using a chronicle boon - I think you said this doesn't use my action - to have Shathva attack it with a +1 ghost touch greatclub.

+1 ghost touch greatclub: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
dmg: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Then Otto will tap Dain with Reesa's wand. CSW: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (4, 8, 2) + 5 = 19 This also heals 19 non-lethal, which should hopefully get Dain back into the fight.

Note that Otto's wand of CMW (with 2 charges remaining) is dropped in Reesa's square (I had to drop it to pick up Reesa's more powerful wand). I've noted where my wand is with a Green lightning bolt on the map. Reesa, I've now used two charges off your wand - one on you and one on Dain - I hope that's ok.

You deduce that the corpses were probably hidden with some sort of illusion magic before, probably by the flower. They seem like regular people, their posture is slightly hunched as if they had come here to perhaps pray, but fell victim to the flower instead. Just two mundane villagers like you've seen before in the village, although they are wearing leather lamellar armour.

The gemstones among the flower's remains look a lot more valuable and interesting.

No, not really related to the encounter, I just decided to point point out the gems (loot) among the flower's corpse, just in case if the situation becomes too tough and you try to run, to give you the potential option of grabbing some loot before you do.

Ok, just wanted to be sure this wasn't something where we have to do some weird ritual mid-combat with the dead bodies or offer jewels or something like that.

Shatva the Lizardfolk takes another swing at the Psychemental. The hit is solid, but the field of swirling reflections still remains.
"Thisssh isshhh pointlessh!" She hisses. "My debtssh are repaid. Your deathssh are your own. I won't ssshtick around with thessshe." And with these words, she marches off into the jungle, towards the swamp you saw earlier. There, she will join the local tribe of lizardfolk, establish her dominance as the leader of the tribe, and lead them into a new age of prosperity, living a robust and fulfilling life until she finally passes away in her sleep at the ripe lizardfolk age of 87, but among the local tribes, her legacy will live forever.

Otto's club follows Shatva's example, passing mostly through Teal but taking out some of the psyche stuff with it. After all that punishment, it still remains.

Eh, I assume you would have mentioned in the previous post if you had wanted to use other boons as well, so I'll roll forward with that assumption. Final score of 16+ 1 for sacrificial boon isn't enough to save, so you'll take 2 negative levels and the results mentioned in the previous spoiler. Unfortunately, it's not energy drain, and the racial bonus doesn't apply. (I did check your sheet for such, but thanks for pointing it out anyway)

Will for Vanzetti: 1d20 + 7 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 7 - 2 = 13 -> Fail
But it's all in vain. The creature looks to be in a bit better shape than before it dashed through Vamzetti.

Vanzetti:

2 more negative levels and lose access to
1d4 ⇒ 3 Dispel magic
1d3 ⇒ 3 Pellet blast.
In addition, you lost 2 "spells per day" from your highest spell slots that you still have. So if you still had lvl 4 spell slots remaining, you lost two of those, or 3rd if you have no 4th level slots remaining. (Likewise on the last drain, you lost a 4th level slot instead of 3rd if you still had 4th level slots left)

I want to emphasize that I normally do not have enemy creatures attack unconscious PC's. Reesa just happened to be right on the spot and these creatures heal from draining your memories so it makes sense for the wounded one to take what it can.

For Reesa ONLY:

Again, sorry, I'm not trying to kill your character with that. Your characters don't know it, but I just want to tell you that those negative levels can't kill you, to emphasize that I'm not trying to actively murder you. Sorry.

After giving it some more thought, It's not exactly fair towards the PC's to have the creatures attack unconscious PC's despite it making perfect sense for them, this fight is difficult enough even as it is. I'd retcon the attack on Reesa, but Reesa saved it anyway. Just pointing out that in the future, they won't target already unconscious PC's. Also, Vanzetti's Deathless spirit prevents the 20 max hp loss from negative levels, so max hp is still 50.

I also keep forgetting their spell resistance despite mentioning it couple of times now. Not going to retroactively roll for the magic missiles etc, but in the future, please include your CL vs SR check when attempting to harm them with magic.

Not really a fair assumption, because I was hoping that would be enough - especially since I thought "negative levels" = "energy drain" in all cases, even if it isn't of the same nature as that inflicted by wights and vampires and such. I don't think I have any other Boons, but what I DO have is a folio reroll, which I would like to have applied to that first save. If I get screwed by that new one, so be it.

folio reroll: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

Assuming I hence have only the result of the first drain (having taken it the second time)...:

Things are starting to look desperate. V projects another firework...

...then shouts a haunting, beatific Rallying Cry to those in earshot (everyone but Dain gets a +2 morale bonus to attack and damage rolls for 4 rounds).
