GM Scott |
Assuming that Yabatha cast, then moved up as to not provoke or need a concentration check.
Jarlaxle, we'll just hand wave the fact that you can't actually direct anyone without the ability to talk to them. Lets assume you have a mental link to your Boon person. You've used your 1 free get out of jail card.
Khellek, please use all your normal abilities to add to your saves. So will assume you have passed the save and act normally this round. You learn: DR 5/—; Weaknesses vulnerable to fire. Then you learn you need more skill at firing into combat.
Tatiana, I assume you had to move up to try to channel since you were around the corner which saved you from having to make the save earlier.
As Florin and Tatiana come around they corner (within the 30' aura), they attempt their saves.
Florin: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7 Paralyzed: 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds

Yabatha Grimna |
The Mummy leers at Yabatha.
Yabarha leers at the mummy, as she pulls out her wand of cute light wounds and uses it on Bossk.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Any time, Bossk, I’m not that helpful here anyway...
Bossk Sharptooth |
Bossk takes the hit and is still unable to move.
Your keeping me alive, and for me that's real helpful
round 3 rage
Khellek the historian |
Khellek suggests "The mummy is vulnerable to fire! Torches people. Burn it! Normal weapons will do little against such evil."
He then steps up and gently touches Bos with his own wand.
"Stay in the fight man."
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM Scott |
Tatiana, they both take the minimum 1 damage on success or failure. So they are both taking 1 without me rolling.

Khellek the historian |
Khellek keeps offering words of wisdom.
"Of course in ancient Osirian times, the mummies were sometimes protected with magic to ward off just that type of attack.."
He squints through his glasses at the mummy "But this one isn't that old. I strongly recommend fire. Does anyone have a torch they could light?"
Maintains inspire courage.
He taps Bos again with his wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"That is more like it. It shouldn't be running out yet."
Bossk Sharptooth |
"AAAAAHHHH!!! DEATH, BLOOD, AND VENGEANCE!!!"

Being free to swing his sword. Bossk takes his anger out on the mummy.
Round 4 of Rage
Yabatha Grimna |
Oh finally! There you go, that's more like it! Hit him harder why don't you! as she happily taps the barbarian with her wand again.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
I usually hate clerics that do this, but I also don't know what else to do in this situation so...here I am!
Tatiana Malkolva |
@Yabatha you can channel! To heal (as undead will not be healed by your channel) or the harm like Tatiana
Tatiana continues to call for Pharasma but this time to heal her comrades.
Pharasma, it's not the time for my comrade to be judged, help them to stay alive
Channel positive energy (heal): 1d6 ⇒ 1
GM Scott |
Florin looks terrified of the mummy but seems to be recovering.
Jarlaxle kills the last Zombie.
Khellek, Yabatha, and Tatiana practically heal up Bossk with a trickle going to Jarlaxle.
Bossk recovers from his fear and seems a little more mad than usual as he tears into the Mummy with a solid hit.
The Mummy is still eying that cleric and trying to make a path of bodies so he can get to her.
Mummy attacks Bossk.
Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Jarlaxle Baenre |
Jarlaxle frowns.
"I am really going to have to apologise to Gamin after this - he hates getting his blade sticky with ichor..."
With a shrug, he then takes a swing.
Gamin, the Reforged: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 = 29, for 1d8 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 1 = 12 Magical, Silver, Slashing damage.

Florin Leogil |
Dead yet?
Florin Leogil |
Shrugging off her paralysis, Florin steps forward, forgetting entirely that she had better means at her disposal. Relying instead in her old tool....her axe
Take an Aoo stepping in.
Attack with Greataxe+1 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d12 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Khellek the historian |
Khellek continues his words of advice. "Of course the ancient osirian's were defeated, albeit destroyed as a power by the plagues of Jiskta..."
Inspire courage +1 to hit and damage
He too taps Bossok, trying to keep the rager alive.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Tatiana Malkolva |
Tatiana knows that she can't take the risk to get behind the mummy so she calls for the cold water of Pharasma to get rid of the creature!
May Pharasma have mercy on your soul!

Fort Save DC 16: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Then counter-attacks with a hit and not even half goes through.
Yabatha and Khellek heal up Bossk.

Florin slides down and once more swings her axe at the Mummy.
Swing 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 191d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Knowing this time at least her companions might have a better chance of having their own attacks coming through.
Bossk Sharptooth |
Swinging like a mad man Bossk slashes at the Mummy.
Attack MW Falchion: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 1 + 2 = 18
Damage: 2d4 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 9 + 1 = 13
Round 6 Rage
Khellek the historian |
Khellek continues to offer advice to the group.
"Of course the Jiskan empire themselves utilised a number of the less salubrious techniques of the people they fought with, and they themselves were later..."
Yeap, continuing inspire courage for that +1/+1
He taps Jarlaxle with his wand this time.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Florin Leogil |
Didn't include flank and Inspire.
So additional +3 to hit and +1 damage.
GM Scott |
Florin who remembers how to flank all of a sudden, actually hits.
Jarlaxle comes in with the killing blow and make the mummy re-dead.
Bossk that was a miss.
Titania you keep your spell.
Khellek heals Jarlaxle.
Yabatha delays.
Combat over.
You notice a thing in the room as you are gathering to try to fix your curse.
Two of you have a problem and have a very short time to try and fix it. Link to Mummy Rot. Your Clerics and other magic users know this is a curse and disease which needs both cast within a minute of one another to fix.
So you can just post what you want to do for the next few rounds to try to resolve it, if you can. Bossk you have 6 rounds, Jarlaxle you have 7 rounds to note what your doing if it will make a difference.
Room 1 -- Current Time (0:37)
Group conditions: Inspire Courage +1
Round 7

Yabatha - dmg; delay
Tatiana - dmg;
Khellek - dmg;
Bossk 8 dmg; mummy rot onset 36 seconds (round 13)Bold may act.
Jarlaxle Baenre |
Also, unfortunately, that isn't the full text for the disease...
Since all Conjuration(Healing) spells need to make a DC 20 CL check to work, that means that you need a Remove Curse against DC 16, then a CL check against DC 20 (so that Remove Disease has a chance of working, as it is a Conjuration(Healing) spell), followed by a consecutive CL check against DC 16. That means you are likely to have to pay for multiple castings, in order to make it stick. Mummy Rot is nasty... :-/
Khellek the historian |
I always assumed that once the curse element was lifted, the needing a CL check to get a healing spell to land was no longer required. It is somewhat ambiguous.
Khellek looks at his stricken students with dismay.
"I'm afraid that type of healing is well beyond anything I can manage myself."
What a nasty thing to have in a low tier scenario where the characters themselves are very unlikely to have the resources to fix it.
GM Scott |
If nobody has Remove Curse prepared (which doesn't look like anyone could) or a scroll of it (which again looks like nobody has), then we can just move forward to onset and the bad parts.
A few rounds pass then Bossk looks really sick for a moment. And this seems worse than the fatigue he is currently suffering from after the rage.
Bossk Con Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Bossk Cha Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Then Jarlaxle looks really sick.
Jarlaxle Con Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Jarlaxle Cha Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
So now you two officially have Mummy Rot and and heals on you will need the CL 20 check to succeed. We'll resolve any lingering effects at the end of the scenario, if needed.
Florin Leogil |
"You both look terrible."
I mean it both in Char and Out of it! That is one mean debuff to put into low level game.
"I too could do with some healing...I have a wand that could be of use here." Florin holds up her own wand of Cure light wounds.
"I could try to purify the monument then."
Knowledge (Religion) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Yabatha Grimna |
Own Wand to Heal Bossk immediately after combat.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Coming over to Jarlaxle, having a matronly look on her, Yabatha gives him a big hug. No one deserves this, I’m so sorry. I don’t have anything that can cure this outright, but at least I can help with the pain...
She attempts to cast Lesser Restoration.
Caster Level: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 3
You can pick where you want that, Cha or Con...
At least, temporarily releasing the pain, she smiles. Ill fix you up later. I promise.
Yabatha helps to purity the monument. Remember guys, we need some to perform the dance as well! I’ll try to find the magical essence here!
Soellcraft: 10 + 9 = 19
Using Florins wand on her.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
GM Scott |
After you all defeat the undead, you discover the remains of a strange object adhered to one of the catacomb’s walls.
Khellek: 10 + 15 = 25 Assume take 10
Florin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Yabatha: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Jarlaxle: 10 + 12 = 22 Assume take 10
With the undead destroyed, you all can attempt to sanctify the Cenotaph.
Sanctifying a Monument
Each player can attempt one skill check using one of the following skills: Diplomacy, Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (religion), Perform (dance), or Spellcraft. You cannot use aid another on these skill checks.
Everyone should attempt one check as the number of successes matters here.
Khellek the historian |
"Well, that is not something you see every day. Corruption at a distance. No wonder our ghost was so upset." muses Khellek.
He puts his knowledge of religion to work, trying to see how the object can be used to reverse the damage done.
Takes ten for 26 on religion
Florin Leogil |
Spellcraft 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 lol the same as taking 10
Florin adds her own help as well.
"Let's see if this works and thank you for the help Yabatha."
GM Scott |
Jarlaxle's skin starts to improve, and he nods his thanks to Yabatha.
I assume you are taking Cha for the resto.
With all of you helping to sanctify the monument, you easily take care of it.
Monument Boon:
A character can take 10 minutes to attempt a DC 15 Knowledge (religion) check at the monument. A PC who spends this time and succeeds at the skill check gains a +1 morale bonus on Fortitude saves for the rest of the scenario. This bonus increases to +2 if the result of the PC’s check exceeds the DC by 10 or more. A PC can benefit from only one monument boon at a time—successfully gaining the boon of a new monument ends the effects of the previous boon. You all currently have the +2 initiative buff from the Mistress of Angels. You can individually choose which buff you would like, you can do nothing and keep the one you currently have or attempt the check to obtain the new one. If you do nothing, I'll assume you are just sticking with the one you have.
After you all emerge from the Cenotaph, the priests of Pharasma praise you for your decisive action. The priests give you a scroll of restoration and a lesser talisman of life’s breath (Pathfinder RPG Occult Adventures 263).
Talisman of Life’s Breath: These talismans bear runic symbols of life and vitality, as well as the names of spirits and other figures that are closely associated with life-giving energies. The first time that the wearer dies, he is automatically affected by breath of life.
