Arbaro's arrows pierce the southern wraith, and the essence of the ghost melts into vapors as the two red eyes fade into small rubies that clatter to the ground. Dead.

This chamber is a place of worship; an altar stands at the back of the room, a large, empty stone bowl flanked by two empty candlestick holders. The four statues behind the pillars are depictions of Theseus and his three companions, each standing in various heroic poses.
Theseus, in the NW, stands with his hand to his temple, arching an eyebrow carefully carved in the marble. His other hand holds the decaptitated head of a minotaur. The inscription below his sandaled feet tells of how Theseus slew the minotaur in a maze using his wit and intellect instead of skill at arms. It particularly praises how he used a golden thread to find his way back out of the maze while his three companions wandered helplessly without him.
Beside Theseus, in the NE, is a statue labeled Perseus. His hand is clasped to his breast and he bears a look of empathy and love on his face. He has the head of a medusa in his hand. The inscription tells how Perseus fell in love with Andromeda and remained devoted to her his whole life. On one of their adventures, they encountered a medusa, and Perseus' three companions were all turned to stone because they desired to look at the beautiful snake-headed woman, but Perseus stayed strong because of his devotion to his wife and was able to slay the medusa using his mirror shield.
In the SW corner is Bellerophon. His marble statue depicts Bellerophon proudly bearing a handful of holy symbols to the heavens. In his other hand are strung together the three heads of the chimera: a goat, a lion, and a dragon. The inscription reads of how Bellerophon heard the voices of not one deity but many, almost half of the Golarion pantheon speaking to him because of his devoutness. His companions turned to him for spiritual guidance. He was given a pegasus by the gods to ride, and in doing so, was able to face the chimera in its own element and slay it in the very air it terrorized.
Lastly, in the SE corner, is the largest statue of Heracles. He is a burly, hairy man with the cloak of a lion's skin draped over his head and shoulders. In his two hands are a dozen heads of various monsters: lions, hydras, boars, birds, etc. The inscription tells of how he overcome 12 labors using his physical might when his companions were unable or unwilling to assist him. Crushing creatures beneath his hands was a joy to him, and his cloak of lion-skin was the only clothing he valued above all else.
The altar's inscription gives a simple account of how Theseus founded the temple here with his companions. He saw the wisdom in allowing others to follow their example for future generations as demigods. Heracles cared not for religion, and Perseus was too caught up in Andromeda's eyes to care for the gods. Bellerophon, the most religious of the four, was too humble to name a religion after himself and asked Theseus if he could, in his intellect, oversee such a huge undertaking.
Over the doors leaving this chamber inscriptions read of how visitors to the temple of Theseus may visit the four relics of the companions in rooms behind the statues.

Bragoleb |

"Let's check out the rooms behind the statues. I think we should start with Theseus as he's kind of the reason we're here."

GM Mervikoth |

Oh I forgot to re-mention that The statues are covered in graffiti and defaced. Foul curses, explicit images, and even fake mustaches are all drawn on the four statues, though the damage is mostly cosmetic.

Bragoleb |

After the evil is cleared from all of the temple, Brag will offer to help the Sexton clean the graffiti from the statues.

I was waiting for Lem and Thurl to see the big huge post before posting yet again, but it's been long enough.
As you open the door labeled Theseus, you see a hulking, furred humanoid slouching in the room, his back turned to you. Hanging limp in his hands are two jagged hatchets gilt with runes, his feet bullish hooves instead of shod in shoes, and the stench of death hangs all about him. When the creature turns at the sound of your approach, you see where his head should be a gaping hole writhing with flies and maggots.

In the alcove is a pedestal, with a plaque that reads:
Here lies the Golden Thread, used by Theseus to navigate the labyrinth and escape after slaying the minotaur. His wits and intellect saved the four companions from eternal wanderings in the minotaur's maze.
The pedestal bears a glass case. The glass is smeared and muddy, as if it has been roughly handled by someone who was dirty outside. Inside you can barely make out a coiled yellow object.
Over the western passage is a narrow, winding pathway made up of chest high walls. A plaque reads:
Try your luck! Navigate our scale replica of the minotaur's labyrinth and see if you have a mind like Theseus!
The labyrinth looks fairly simple.

Arbaro Stuartavelli |

Arbaro cuts a swatch of cloth from the dead minotaur and wipes away some of the muck to get a better view of the yellow object that has drawn his attention.
Looking down the labyrinth hall, Arbaro looks excited.
"Looks like a tourist trap. Anyone else care for a quick jog just to see what is back there?"
If the yellow object is in fact the string used to navigate the original labyrinth, as I suspect it is, Arbaro will retrieve it by attempting to lift the glass case, if finesse doesn't work, he'll break it."One of my arrows must have defected and broken this during our fight!" he'll say in mock surprise as he carefully pulls the coil out of the case.

"Lem hand's back Brag's longsword, Iomedae lead us to victory eh?"
Then leans over and collects the discarded Quaker, "I might have to find a sword suitable for me to take into battle... that had a nice balance to it"
"that was some pretty good teamwork. I thought I might be able to stand in his way but I didn't expect him to start climbing, then the pit? Neat moves everyone."
not much work to play Lem through battle but I appreciate it!
