Saryn, you'll still need to provide an Athletics check or Fortitude save, as you're the main muscle behind pushing that door open.

[ooc]Pangea, the door they're trying to open is the open in the office, which is the locked room that JJ Oaklie is trying to open.[ooc]

JJ Oaklie easily jimmy's the lock open and slips inside the office. Inside, he can see several small workstations, a sleek, stainless steel desk, and well-stocked bar. Two doors lie on the western wall, with one clearly being a leftover relic from a previous renovation. A door on the
eastern wall is blocked by an open and empty deep-space storage pod. Two doors frame the northern wall.

Oaklie can hear some noise coming from the blocked door and sees that the heavy space pod is moving slightly, as if someone is trying to push it open further.

The Dragon's Demand

Pangea checks the Fire Exit door from the other side. It doesn't look trapped, but he could attempt an Engineering check (and it is safe enough to Take 10 here if you'd like) to disarm the door alarm from this side without needing to make a Stealth check. Pangea can also hear his fellow agents in the office next to him.

Don't worry Saryn, you still barely passed the DC to avoid being fatigued.

With a little bit of help from Istovir and Vindler, Saryn manages to push the huge deep space pod out of the way just enough for everyone to squeeze into the room. Besides the work stations, there doesn't appear to be much of interest in this room. JJ Oaklie is near the entrance of the walk in safe. The door is seamless with no visible latch or hinge. Outside of using an industrial grade mining drill or enough explosives to bring down half of the night club around you, it doesn't look there is any way to mechanically break into the vault. But logically, there must be some way to open the safe.

Unfortunately, the alarm on the Fire Exit looks a little to sophisticated for Pangea to handle without more effort. Turning away, Pangea finds the door to the main office unlocked. Go on.

Pangea makes quick work bypassing the control console's security and is able to access the system's basic functions. In addition to opening up the vault, this console also controls the strobe lights and smoke machines on the dance floor. More importantly, this console controls the compliance collars worn by the androids working here and can deactivated from here.

It also looks like it might be possible to link the functions on this console to a datapad or computer and activate them remotely.

The Dragon's Demand

You will need to pass a fairly difficult Computers check if you do want to link the control console to a datapad.

The vault door opens silently and inside there are a number of artifacts and ancient looking art pieces. Standing out among them is the sandstone tablet, which is resting on a purple cushion, waiting for someone to grab it.

Just to speed things up, I'm going to let you know that there is no trap on this item. You just need to grab it and go.

The door on the east wall silently closes shut and there is a soft click as some sort of locking mechanism activates. That door is now inaccessible, leaving only the the front entrance as a viable way out of the building.

Mysticism DC 15:
It isn't uncommon for people to mix magical security measures along with technological ones. Its entirely possible that something in this room (perhaps the control panel) had a magical alarm on it.

Standing in the main entrance, back lit by the fluorescent lights coming from the hallway, is a verthani dressed in a sleek black suit. Next to him is a vesk bouncer who has her laser pistol out and keeping anyone from moving past. As the doors open and the party attempts to slip into the crowd, Karelite Bogdin points towards the intruders and shouts something which is lost under the booming bass and shouts of revelry coming from the dance floor. Two other vesk bouncers with pistols in hand turn towards the nearest Starfinders they can see and begin firing.

Until the dance floor clears, the entire night club is considered difficult terrain, as you have to push through a sea of bodies to get anywhere. In addition, everyone is going to automatically have cover against ranged attacks. JJ Oaklie is going to have the additional advantage of getting concealment while he is in the crowd, which means that everyone will have a 20% chance to miss him with any ranged attack and he will always have concealment for making Stealth checks.

I am assuming you released the androids already. I am also assuming that Pangea-Alpha and Istovir both have the remote control settings on their respective devices. Activating the smoke will fill the the bottom third of the map with smoke. Activating the strobe lights can potentially daze everyone on the dance floor, including allies. Like most things, activating these functions are standard actions.

Final note...We'll consider the fight as having started as soon as the doors open...so you won't need to spend a move action opening a door.

As Istovir is punching in the commands to activate the smoke machine, he notices a black eye watching him from the shadows of the bar. He blinks and sees that the vercite bartender is back here with him, huddled behind the bar. He is clearly using his species' chameleon skin to hide during the fight and doesn't look like a threat.

The Dragon's Demand

Saryn's blast misses, creating a blue patch of frost on the opposite wall.

The area that JJ Oaklie and the yellow Vesk are in is treated as if it was a fog cloud spell. So anything farther than five away is effectively invisible. I should have posted the rules for fog cloud when Istovir activated it, so JJ, if you'd like, you can retcon your action to do something different. You wouldn't have been able to take a guarded step anyways, because the dance floor is still considered difficult terrain due to the crowd.

Fog Cloud:
A bank of fog billows out from the point you designate. The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance) against its attacker. Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can’t use sight to locate the target) against their attackers.

Karelite sees the laser blasts barely effecting Vindler and shouts to his vesk bodyguards.

"The dwarf! Shoot the bloody dwarf! Like this!

Corona Laser: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 1 = 20
Laser damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1) + 3 = 7

Instead of the laser blast hitting Vindler, the blast strikes a fleeing clubgoer, who falls to the ground with a scream.

Even though it doesn't give them any kind of mechanical advantage (cover is cover), Karelite and the bouncers aren't as careful with their shots and are freely firing into the crowd trying to hit you.

Vindler shoves his way past a the few clubgoers still foolish enough to be between himself and the green vesk. As he does so, the entropic energies that had begun to build within him make him appear as if he is fragmenting and multiple alternate versions of himself. He raises his blade and the disruptive energies flow into the weapon, until he brings it down and they explode out toward the vesk.

Move 5ft forward and standard to attack with entropic strike. On a hit, I gain a +1 enhancement bonus to AC against melee attacks from my target for 1 round (block weapon special property from entropic strike). I also have a +1 enhancement bonus to AC because I have 1 Entropy point, though I don't think these stack.

Vindler slices through the vesk's body armor with his hook blades sword. As the blade passes through her, instead of cutting her, the flesh around the wound turns into gray sludge as the molecules in her body begin to decouple into a simpler form of matter. The vesk cries out in pain, and then anger as Pangea's bolt flies by her head. She pulls a knife out of her waistband and slashes at Vindler.

Enough of the crowd has finally made it out of the exit that they are no longer providing cover or causing difficult terrain. A few wounded civilians are laying on the ground, burned by rays from the careless laser fire of Karelite and his minions.

The Dragon's Demand

Saryn manages to graze the vesk with another shot from the zero cannon before diving behind the bar for cover. Saryn notices that the androids are arguing with each other about whether it is better to stay behind cover or to help the Starfinder's fight. Kozmos-13 is the more timid of the two, and tells 14 that if they stay quiet Karelite might be merciful to them.

There is still a 20% miss chance for concealment even in close range, which I did roll for the vesk on her last attack.

Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 95 Made it! Good thing too, that attack had some good damage on it.

John Joseph and the vesk are engaged in a brutal knife fight in the colorful smoke filling the dance floor. The survivalist backs off into the shadows and when the vesk lunges towards him he darts in and slashes her under the arm, dealing a grievous blow. The vesk continues to chase after him, enraged, but clearly wounded from that skillful slash.

Istovir definitely gets Karelite's attention with his magic missile spell, as the bolts tear through his expensive looking suit and armor. Glaring at the elf, he strides towards the elevated bar on legs that are clearly augmented for speed. Still eying the vesk fighting Vindler down below, Karelite casually aims his chrome plated pistol at Istovir and fires a blast at him.

Corona Laser: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Laser damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6

Istovir gasps at the heat of the laser knocks the air out of his lungs. His armor is singed where the laser hit him in the shoulder.

Karelite is standing behind a small railing. This will give him partial cover (+2 AC) against ranged attacks from below. It's only a few feet up, so moving up to him would be the same as moving over difficult terrain. No climb check necessary.
