He shrugs. Those mysteries are beyond my knowledge. Although the holiness of this place is diminishing with the presence of these interlopers in the caves.
Lisette Jacquetta Allegria |
Lisette asks the gillman, "Do you mind if I take a closer look at this?" and gestures towards the miniature city in the pool of water. If he does not mind, she approaches and inspects it.
GM Weenerton |
"By all means." The gillman goes back to praying at the water's edge.
dead god Aroden that retains enough power to bless a few more pilgrims.
The model city is littered with coins and frogs that inhabit its crevices. A pile of clay sits at the base of the pedestal.

Kronis joins Lisette in studying the statue. The broad range of studies encouraged by Father were never quite the same as experiencing the things for himself.
Though he's never been a particularly religious man - he performs the daily ablutions to Irori more because they hold practical benefits than out of true veneration, something he suspects the god would find rather amusing - even he can sense the divine about this place. It is as if the altar is not so much blessed by Aroden, in his mind, as it is haunted by His memory.
He takes in the entirety of the diorama, trying to make sure he commits as much of its details to memory as he can.
After a while, he says, "I feel, perhaps, we should continue on. If the words of this gentleman hold truth, I do not think our presence is doing anything to help the diminishing sacredness of this place. Let us see what there is to see and hasten to leave before we do permanent damage. Besides," he adds, spots of color rising to his cheeks,"I am eager to test myself against the dangers of this place."

”Wait a sec.” Lisette takes out her book and makes some notes about the diorama. ”I have an idea…” Lisette takes some of the clay near the diorama of Absalom and crafts it into a little winged eye; Aroden’s holy symbol. craft: 1d20 ⇒ 16 Then places it near the Starstone Cathedral.
Mika Zellhwiger |
"That's some mighty fine craftsmanship!" Mika gets closer to the diorama, and intricately searches the details. "I think that's my apartment right there. Say, does this thing update in real time?"
GM Weenerton |
You are filled with the waning power of Aroden for honoring the Craftsman.
Completing this ritual grants all of the PCs a +1 competence bonus on Perception checks to find hidden doors and concealed objects.
Kronis Umbrelor |
Kronis' brow furrows at the winged eye Lisette has created. He kneels down, scoops up some of the clay, and does his best to mold it into the shape of a lantern. He looks at the others. "Are any of you able to cast the spell light?"
If someone can and is willing, he puts the lantern on the diorama, after careful consideration, on the walls of the city.

GM Weenerton |
The crafted lantern has no effect. There are torches by the cave entrance...
Kronis Umbrelor |
Kronis frowns, feeling very foolish, and steps away from the diorama to let Luxurious try the torch.
GM Weenerton |
Luxurious places a burning torch on the diorama wedged between some buildings.
Completing this ritual grants each PC a +1 insight bonus to AC if she has taken damage since the start of her last turn.
Qadri of Erekrus |
Qadri will assist, but after a few minutes will break away, waving at the pool and the gillman.
While I can see the allure of trying to determine what power is left from a dead god's alter, it sounded like the gillman here was insinuating that there may be others here that would be inimical to both him and ourselves. I'd recommend we check the area and then return here if additional ... anthropology is needed.
Kronis Umbrelor |
"Agreed," Kronis says brusquely, striding forward without meeting anyone's gaze and waiting near the passage further into the caverns for the others to finish.
Mika Zellhwiger |
"Partner," Mika gestures at the gillman, "Can you tell us if the lizard folk or the scent of death is ruining the holiness more?" Please be the lizard folk. Please be the lizard folk.
GM Weenerton |
The gillman has his hands buried in his hands. He is chanting and cannot see you to read your lips.

Qadri of Erekrus |
don't think death is a fair vote if cake isn't on the list :)
That said, I don't care as we're likely to go to both at some point, so I'll vote lizardfolk to speed things along

The persistent glow of the bluish fungi dimly lights the way deeper below the Kortos Mounts. The tunnels broaden to reveal a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel stretching to the north and south. To the east a small passage exits the chamber at a steep incline.
Across the river you spy 2 dragon-like figures.

That's a lot of kobold knowledge. :O
GM Weenerton |
Kobolds have no special special attacks or vulnerabilities. They are carrying spears. You do know they are adept at trap making.
Kronis Umbrelor |
Kronis mutters to the others, "Kobolds ahead. It does not seem they see us. Mind your surroundings - they are canny trap-crafters."
He looks over the floors, walls, and whatever ceiling he can see as he moves, keeping an eye out for traps while trying to remain stealthy.
Moving at half speed to search for traps. Not sure if I can even sneak while doing that (both actions halve speed, and I dunno if that would stack and reduce speed to 5ft, or overlap, leaving my speed at 15). If it would require quarter speed, Kronis will abandon stealth to check for traps. It likely means we'll have to fight, but I think that's probably inevitable. Note that Kronis doesn't have Trapfinding (Lepidstadt Inspector replaces it) so if the traps are magical, I won't find them regardless.
Going to spend a point from my Inspiration Pool on the Perception check.

I'll give y'all a surprise round and then Mika, Kronis, and Luxurious may take their first turn.
Hakon - Skald Iconic |
Hakon begins his Inspired Rage. If you choose to accept it, you get +2 Str and Con, -1 AC and +2 to will saves. While under the effects, you cannot cast spells or use dex, int, or cha based skills. You may make this choice at the beginning of every turn as long as I maintain the song.
Luxurious the Vine Leshy! |
Move Action: The leshy moves forward, drawing a sling along the way.
Standard Action: Sling at nearest kobold: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11, Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Lisette Jacquetta Allegria |
Lisette's powerless prophecy curse prevents any actions during the surprise round (except using a specific revelation that I don't yet have).
GM Weenerton |
Additionally, Luxurious, Inspired Rage allows you to use your own rage without expending rounds: If an ally has her own rage class ability (such as barbarian’s rage, bloodrager’s bloodrage, or skald’s inspired rage), she may use the Strength, Constitution, and Will saving throw bonuses, as well as AC penalties, based on her own ability and level instead of those from the skald (still suffering no fatigue afterward).
Mika Zellhwiger |
In the surprise round, Mika will begin approaching the kobolds.
When his regular turn rolls around, he'll attempt to jump across the river thing.
Acrobatics DC 15, assuming he jumps a 15 foot crossing: 1d20 + 10 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 4 - 2 = 20
He will then turn to face the kobolds rather gracefully before saying, "Come and get me!"
Parry: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 If I exceed their attack roll, their attack automatically misses, I'll then spend an immediate action to riposte.
Riposte Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Riposte Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Kronis Umbrelor |
Kronis draws his hand crossbow as he moves forward. "Watch that section, there," he says, pointing out the trapped area. "Avoid it if possible."
He follows Mika across the pit, leaping quickly to the other side, keeping a careful eye on the kobolds' approach.
Not taking the rage this round. I will probably wait until I'm in melee with them. 30ft move to the stream, while drawing the hand crossbow, then another move action to jump across.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
GM Weenerton |
Even with the jump on them, Luxurious is unable to land their pebble shot. Others move into position.
The kobolds draw spears and go after Mika.

Kronis Umbrelor |
Forgot to move Kronis across the stream from his second move. Derp! Moving into flanking position against Yellow, Acrobatics to avoid an AoO (+5 DC since I'm moving at full speed) since I'm moving through a threatened area.
Acrobatics vs. AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Kronis does his best to duck the kobold's spear as he flanks it and lashes out with his fists.
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Lisette Jacquetta Allegria |
Lisette runs forward towards the action. double move
She keeps an eye on the foes, ready to cause misfortune on any foe within 30 feet. Misfortune is an immediate action forced reroll Lisette can use on any creature within 30 feet (once per day per creature). She’ll use it on a foe if it rolls a nat 20 on an attack roll. She’ll use it on an ally if the ally rolls 9 or lower on a saving throw.
GM Weenerton |
Mika skewers the kobold through the heart, dropping it immediately. Kronis slips into position and punches the kobold in the kidney causing it great pain and discomfort. Other party members wade further into the battlefield.
The surrounded kobold attacks Kronis with its spear.
kobold spear: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
All party members up. Poor, poor, kobold.
Kronis Umbrelor |
With supreme disdain, Kronis unleashes a flurry of strikes at the unfortunate creature.
Has Hakon been maintaining the Inspired Rage? If so, a quick question. Would you still be able to use the Weapon Finesse feat with it, or would it preclude its use like it precludes the use of Dex-based skills (other than the exceptions listed)? If it doesn't, then Kronis will accept the Inspired Rage. His Attack roll would remain the same, but his attacks would deal +1 damage each, and his AC would lower to 15.
Flurry of Blows 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 B
Flurry of Blows 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 B
HOLY MACKEREL
Kronis Umbrelor |
Cool, then I would have accepted the Raging Song this round, provided you were still maintaining it. That would be 7 damage on those attacks instead of 6. :)
GM Weenerton |
The first punch of Kronis's onslaught is enough to crumple the creature.
End of combat.
After some brief exploration you begin to hear the faint sounds of combat and a familiar woman’s voice half-shouting and half-reciting, “As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!”
What would you like to do?
Lisette Jacquetta Allegria |
That's Janira! She must still be battling that big horned beast. We gotta find her and help her! Lisette moves towards the sound of Janira's orating voice as swiftly as possible.
Kronis Umbrelor |
"Agreed." Kronis joins the others in heading toward the sound of battle.
GM Weenerton |
