1d3 ⇒ 3
Capricia-1,Trant-2: 1d2 ⇒ 2
As the rats swarm over Marcus and Otavio, Marcus runs off in the other direction toward Bimble to get some distance from the rats. Otavio, steps back trying to hold in his diner as well. Sara shouts out toward the large rat on the wall, her words inspiring the others to do better. Capricia moves back out of the rats as well and attacks, cutting down a few more of them.
Having seen that Bimble also can cast spells the large rat on the ceiling intones some arcane words as two solid balls of force flies toward Bimble and slams into him.
Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8
Seeing his handy work, he climbs across the wall towards one of the side walls.
Round 2
Enemy-R, Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, > Rosanna/Bimble

Bimble Ficklebopper |
"Ow!" cries Bimble as he is struck by the balls of force. HP 8/16
He pulls out a scroll, and shouts back to the rat.
"Отзовите своих крыс, или ваш поиск бессмертия закончится здесь!"
It was certainly not his specialty, but he tries his best to invoke evocation magic anyway. He speaks the arcane words of power.
Scroll Check DC4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
A flaming sphere appears over the rats by Capricia and Trant, threatening to burn the rats.
Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1) = 10 *1.5 = 15 damage, but Reflex DC12 negates.
He also takes a quick step just to spread out from the others.

Otavio |

While he might not be able to kill the rat swarm, at least Otavio's physical presence manages to stop the rat swarm from moving past him.
Std action: attack swarm
Attack vs swarm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
I give up.

Rossana Thorn |

Finally regaining her senses, Rossana rushes between the two swarms of rats, knowing a single bolt won't do much there, and takes aim at the large rat overhead. Please hit. Please hit.
Move Action: Moving closer to the main target.
Standard Action: Shooting poorly at the rat.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

GM Dak |

Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Bimble conjures a ball of flames that floats near the rats however, they feel the eat and part ways to avoid any damage from it. Rossana turns her attention at the large rat crawling across the ceiling. She takes aim with her crossbow but misses and the bolt clinks against the ceiling before falling to the floor.
Trant attacks the rats again with Zubari assisting. The halfling, with the rats so close backs up cautiously to avoid drawing their attention.
Assist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
While Zubari does provide some assistance, Trant isn't quite able to hit any of the rats as they skitter about trying to also avoid the flaming sphere. They both step back to get some more room.
With Marcus having ran off the rats continue to pursue Otavio, while the other swarm decides to go after Trant and Zubari instead of Capricia.

Round 3
Enemy-R, > Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, Rosanna/Bimble

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |

With Bimble's flaming sphere blocking any sort of charge toward the spellcasting rat, Capricia moves close to the wounded swarm, hoping another hack from her falcata might disperse the rodents.
falcata: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 for slashing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 (half damage = 5)

Otavio |

Fort vs DC 12: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
With Marcus gone, Otavio knows there's no one to fall back on. His survival instincts kick in as he starts swinging his axe at the numerous rats, occasionally throwing in a buckler-bash as well.
Std action: attack
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Slashing Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Sara Nole |

don't forget you are inspired by Sara's ranting :)
"Kill the big ugly one! It might be controlling the hordes." she truly has no idea but it is worth a try. She'll run over to Bimble and get a vial of acid from him.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
@Sara--I think you should just assume you have the acid. There is just no way Bimble would have kept any of that after the trade with Mimips. Bimble is an old man who can't throw (I'm sure he has the lowest ranged attack of the party). The only way he's keeping up with you whippersnappers is magic and natural Gnomish hardiness.

Sara Nole |

As long as Dak doesn't mind, since I suggested her not holding one in the discussion
Oh! Also she meant to continue her inspiration... last round of it though
Sara pulls out the vial of acid she forgot she had and throws it at the rats trying to eat Otavio.
throw splash: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 that isn't good
missed: 1d8 ⇒ 3
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

GM Dak |

Capricia moves around the flaming sphere and tries to attack the rats, but with them crawling all over the others she can't find a good opening to strike any of them. Sara pulls out a flask of acid and tosses it towards the rats but her throw is off and the acid hits the ground near the steps. Luckily some of the acid still kills some rats. Otavio stands his ground with the rats cutting away at some of them, but there are still many left. Marcus, now at a safe distance pulls out and Alchemist fire and tosses it at the rats on Otavio.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Damage (next round): 1d6 ⇒ 3
The fire washes over a bunch of the rats, burning them up, but some splashes on to Otavio in the process.
The giant rat casts another spell at Bimble as an arrow made of acid flies toward the gnome.
RT-Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
The arrow slams into Bimble and eats away at his clothing and the gnome himself, almost knocking him off his feet.
Round 3
Enemy-R, Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, > Rosanna/Bimble

Rossana Thorn |

Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Despite all the chaos going on, Rossana agrees with Sara's assessment and quickly steps out of the swarming rats as she loads her crossbow. I should have paid more attention to my self-defense classes. She lets the next bolt fly toward the rat above.
Free: Five-foot step.
Move: Reload crossbow.
Standard: Fire once more.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

GM Dak |

Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rosanna takes a shot at the oversized rat, but as it looks to be heading straight for him it seems to hit some invisible force and fall to the ground. Bimble, in pain from the spells being lobbed at him, manages to control the orb to smash into the rats on Otavio. It kills most of them and the rest quickly disperse and scurry away. He then tries to take cover behind some furniture to avoid further attacks from the oversized rat on the ceiling.
The remaining swarm of rats moves over on top of Capricia, while still biting at Trant and Zubari.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Both Trant and Zubari fall to the floor from all the vicious rat bites, and Capricia looks not too far behind. Even so she slashes a wide swatch of rats and kills several of them.
[ooc]Round 4
Enemy-R, > Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, Rosanna/Bimble[/b]

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Capricia again steps out of the swarm of rats, reluctantly marveling at their hardiness and persistence.
"Come get some more, little pests!" she hisses, again squatting low and sweeping her unusual blade through the rodents. Cursing as she fumbles the pass, she reverses the blade and prepares a second sweep for when the rats inevitably swarm her to try to bring her down.
falcata: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 for slashing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
falcata: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 for slashing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Capricia: "Bite me!"
Rats: "Don't mind if we do!"

Otavio |

Like a man possessed, Otavio throws himself at the second swarm with such reckless abandon that it might make any onlookers question his sanity.
Std action: attack the second swarm
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Sara Nole |

Seeing Bimble about to go down, and thinking his flaming sphere is desperately needed, she tries to buy him another round of life. Reaching into her bag, grabbing the scroll he gave her, she reads the invisibility spell onto him.

GM Dak |

1d20 ⇒ 19
Capricia tries to attack the rats again after stepping back, but misses. Sara pulls out a scroll and casts it on Bimble as he suddenly disappears. Otavio charges into the rats and smashes a bunch of them causing what little remain to scurry away. Marcus pulls out his crossbow, with the rat swarms dealt with and takes aim at the oversized rat.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
The shot falls short of the rat as the bolt falls to the ground on the other side of the room.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
The oversized rat scurries over to the side of the wall while pulling out a wand.

Round 4
Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, Rosanna/Bimble

Rossana Thorn |

Seeing the senator and priest fall, Rossana gives up on her horrible archery after reloading and steps over to their side. Leaning over, Rossana focuses on the power in her and releases it as a light wave of healing with a few strange growls. Though not enough to close up the wounds, the senator's breathing evens out as the worst of the bleeding stops.
Move: Reload.
Free: Five-foot step.
Standard: Casting Stabilize on Senator Trant.

Bimble Ficklebopper |
"Thanks for the help, Sara!" says the grateful gnome.
Bimble moves the flaming sphere closer to the enemy rat. Move it 30 feet closer, next to Marcus.
Realizing he's invisible, he gets up again. But he's not sure if he has any more tricks that would be helpful.
I could cast Web, but I also think rats have high Reflex saves so it could harm us more than the rat.

Sara Nole |

"Anytime Mr. Ficklebopper." Sara runs toward the fleeing rat, wishing she had picked up somekind of archery skills at one point of her life. Instead she draws her dagger and chucks it at the thing. "STOP trying to KILL my FRIEND!" the baker yells at it.
thrown dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

crit!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 oh well
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Assuming it is still on the ceiling and she's not throwing the dagger right next to it, if it is in arms reach she'll stop just a step away instead.

GM Dak |

It is reachable now. The little crossed out circle (that it had before and bimble has now) means not reachable/target-able (under normal circumstances, obviously before ranged would have still worked but I'm limited in the symbols I can use :P)

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |

Capricia gives Octavio a thankful nod for his timely intervention. She considers moving up to the rat-thing to at least threaten it should it try to cast another spell, but she's feeling wobbly. Instead, she takes out and quaffs a healing potion and then closes a bit of the rat.
potion of cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Yep, sort of knew with the way the dice roller's been treating me lately that that would be the wrong move...but it's got to turn around some time, right? Right??!!

Otavio |

Otavio moves towards Sara's voice and keeps his eyes glued to the wall, hoping to spot their elusive foe before it can throw more deadly magics at them.
Move action: move towards Sara
Std action: total defense (+4 AC)
Current AC 25 & Touch AC 17

GM Dak |

Rossana moves to stablize Trant's wounds after the rats had been eating on her. She reloads her crossbow as well, in case she needs it again. Bimble, now invisible, stands up and directs the orb he had summoned closer to the oversized rat before it fizzles out and disappears. Capricia takes a moment to heal herself, drinking from one of her potions as a few of her open wounds heal up.
Sara moves toward the rat, tossing one of her daggers at it. The dagger slices into the rat before landing on the floor. Otavio moves up cautiously to join the others as everoyne turns their attention toward the rat. Marcus reloads and takes another shot at the rat.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
The bolt goes wide though and misses.
The rat gets down the rest of the way and moves over toward Sara activating the wand.
Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 2
He doesn't manage to hit her with the wand though, as the tip of it glows with a spark of electricity.
Round 5
Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, > Rosanna/Bimble

Capricia/Sara/Otavio/Marcus, Enemy-D, Rosanna/Bimble

Rossana Thorn |

With the Senator okay, Rossana turns to the downed priest and repeats the process, stabilizing the bleeding man.
Standard Action: Casting Stabilize on Zubari.

Sara Nole |

Sara moves up, fencing stance, and tries to stab the horrible gnome attacking creature with her rapier.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Capricia Belacrest-Maxeme |

Capricia leaves Dame Trant and Zubari in Rossana's capable hands and closes on the rat-thing. Leaving herself open to attack briefly, the swordswoman circles behind the thing, making sure it has no easy route to escape.
Double move.

GM Dak |

Rosanna stabilizes Zubari while Bimble stands by watching the others fight. Capricia moves up and tries to get around the rat, it attempts to bite her in the process.
AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
It misses though as she moves out of the way and gets in a position to flank with her allies. Sara comes over and tries to attack the rat, but her blade meets some invisible barrier, where she clearly sees there is no armor. Otavio does much better though and slices into the oversized rat.
Marcus reloads and fires off another shot with his precise aim.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Similar to Sara though the bolt looks like it should hit but stops short and falls to the ground.
The rat surrounded, takes a step back and tries to zap Capricia with the wand.
Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
The rat curses in his strange language that only Bimble understands as he misses again.

Otavio |

The rat's actions give Otavio the feeling that no matter what he'll say, he won't stop trying to kill Otavio and his companions with his magic zapping wand of destruction. So far, the rat has not managed to land a decisive blow - yet.

With so many surrounding the rat, Rossana hesitates on pulling the trigger just yet. Instead, she waits for a chance to get a clean shot.
Taking a Readied Action to fire should the rat step clear of the melee.
Readied Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
...Not that she'll hit even if he does. :p

Sara Nole |

Sara moves around the rat. While she's far from a good swordswoman, she does understand the benefit of flanking.

Attack-Marcus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Rossana readies her shelf for a shot if the rat moves out of melee, while Bimble maintains his invisibility due to his severe injuries. Capricia lands a solid blow on the rat, while Sara moves into a flanking position, but can't manage to hit. Marcus steps up and lands a solid blow as well, nearly taking the rat off his feet. Marcus lets a bolt fly, but misses with everyone crowded around the rat.
The rat, on it's last legs reaches out toward Capricia once again to try and tap her with the wand.

The rat jabs at Capricia again with the wand.
Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
She continues to deftly avoid the wand, with the static sparks coming off the end.
The rat calls back to Bimble "Ха! Вы, жалкие создания, ничего не знаете о бессмертии. Вы думаете, что победите меня? Вы все умрете здесь!"

Readying once again.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Sara Nole |

Sara makes a very unladylike curse, as she is tired, worn out, pooped, and all sorts of other adjectives. She wishes the large rat thing would either have the decency to give up or just DIE! The baker also accepts as a whole she should have practiced her swordplay more.
A lesson about teamwork did spark in her mind, something about setting up an ally to end a battle.
attack, aid another to Otavio, flanking: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14
for the life of me... probably not enough coffee... I can't think of a good move she'd do for aid another against an opponent who is completely ignoring her attacks. Maybe grabbing its tail?

Otavio |

Otavio has never fought a foe before that can employ magic wards and shields. Actual shields, yes, he had beaten on those before with sword and mace, but this invisible force field he's facing right now is driving him absolutely crazy.
