In order to potentially speed the first floor up a bit, I'm going to remind/inform you that the first floor has some very annoying conditions. Almost the entire dungeon is super-darkness and difficult terrain so feel free to make a character that is good at these conditions that might get rebuilt immediately after the adventure's conclusion.

Regnum has a Wayfinder so that casts LIGHT so he can have some sight. Any casters that can cast LIGHT can easily handle the darkness....
As for the terrain, well, other than a climbers kit, what else is there, gear wise, to help with it?

This darkness is SUPER darkness for a reason, magical light won't work here.
Well, it does, but it gets limited to a 5ft radius

Yeah and honestly, without those conditions, the first floor should go pretty quick, its just a handful of combats really.

Wow, ok! Well, Saint Gudule is a Ganzi and, as such, has darkvision. However, I can't see how we can get past deeper darkness (if it's what you mean, GM) at level 1...

Well, I'm limited to using my ioun torch for light, so I guess 5-feet of visibility will have to do.

Well, then, if magical light is limited to 5', is there a limit to normal light sources (candles, torches) that sort of thing? Thinking of picking up a Helmet Candle and several candles.........

Since this level is repeatable by level 1s, one of my friends has a Tower Ruins character that is like a halfling cavalier with darkvision riding a flying mount to ignore all the annoyances of this floor that he just rebuilds after the game.

Jahz can pretend to be half-orc for the first level - requires the least rebuilding. He'll stay an arcanist so we have an arcane caster.

So, the party might be rather unbalanced right now. Since we'll be working together for a very long time, do we want to talk about a party composition/balance that the lvl 1 characters can rebuild into if need be? I know this is not (necessarily) representative of who we'll be after a level or two, but right now we have:
- Barbarian
- Fighter
- Gunslinger
- Cleric
- Oracle
- Arcanist
What kind of character does everyone plan to become? What do they want to do, both in combat and out?

Indeed, we might need out of combat skills/swiss army knife. However, with the addition of the barb, our party doesn't seem to me too unbalanced (three full BAB, 3 casters).
As far as I'm concerned, I'm ready and open to rebuild Saint Gudule with the exception of the race (and background). That is to say that his build will be a spellcaster based on charisma.
My goal was to make of him a controller/buffer with a touch of know-it-all and party-face out of combat. I am pretty sure however that I'll change his mystery for "time".

Jawhar is face-ish, though without the skill points to really pull it off long term.
As far as utility classes, as long as someone is willing to max out Disable, I think we can manage without a skill monkey.

Regnum's Disable is currently +11. Acrobatics and Slight of Hand at +10 each so running/jumping gaps to tie ropes to aid in crossing is ok. 2 Melee, 1 Ranged is a good mix, as I have both Point Blank and Precise (and a musket is vs touch ac). Finally to keep people alive I have a fresh wand of CLW.

Pure casters? Nope. Casters/Hybrid casters? Yep. My favorite was the group of all clerics/warpriests.

@Tabar I cast Bless, which is different than a Bard's Inspiration.
You only get the +1 to attack rolls, not damage.

Also, unless Tabar has a new and exciting feat/trait/ability, opponents can still take a 5 ft step towards him without provoking an AoO. Truly unfortunate.
And if he does have a thing that lets him do that, do tell! I'd definitely want that for my melee characters.

About the exploration, since we're gonna explore a lot of dungeon and since PBP isn't always "dungeon-friendly", how should we proceed?
Do we make a "regular" marching order?
Do we decide a pattern of exploration, like turn always on our left or something like this?

If you were level 2, I put you on slow track for this scenario otherwise you'd eventually outlevel the spire levels. You also may not replay level 1 with another level 2 character without an actual replay of some kind.
Make sure you pickup the land rush sheet as well, it provides some boons that help to make up for the lack of prestige/fame you get for doing only modules.
Barm, the scenario reporter says that you are a core character, with this adventure reported, you can no longer play your character in CORE games.

And I'm afraid that our paths must part at this point. I am a bit overstretched as far as PbP is concerned, and while it has been lovely playing with everyone I don't want to have to suddenly vanish further down the tower and leave everybody shorthanded.

I don't really see any of the land bonuses being worth the expense of 2PP.
Especially since the first one you have to buy gives you no reward at all.
Am I missing something?

There are a handful that give you fame and prestige. The main issue this helps alleviate is the fame limit on purchasing gear.
