@Sgt. Nim: I think #LEE basically means "hashtag: Live Exploration Extreme". I think you've got the feel for it otherwise though. We're getting trolled by people watching the stream. LOL!

"That's right, captain," Faraeon says, stepping into the frame with Capt. Mustache, "But not just to root out those menacing little gobs! We need to figure out what this place is. Could it be some kind of ancient space station? A world ship gone wrong? Maybe even the last remnants of a long-dead civilization?! The mystery is palpable!"

He grips the captain's shoulder dramatically, but takes a breath and carries on more calmly. "I tell you what would really help us out here: if we could get a bit more light. AMOSU, help me find some kind of control panel to light this place up will you?" Faraeon strides away from the captain and begins following the conduits and wiring, trying to find a central power source or a control panel of some kind.

Not a problem at all, and kind of plays into whats going on. I see it as my job right now to get everyone through this (being the 4th level character). Kiv thinks she is responsible for dragging the rest of these unprofessional yahoo's around while they compete for screen time.

@FaraeonStarJumper I appreciate the clarification! I assumed it was a hashtag with the idea "LEE" was some couch potato with such an ego that they made their own name a hashtag, and wrote their name in all-caps. I can neither confirm nor deny this idea may be based on someone I encountered on Instagram.

Of course, since I created Nim I've played her as a character who sticks to analog weapons, refused the Starfinder implant for fear it would be used against her later and doesn't own a comm. Combined with a Perception value of 0, I could easily be convinced this is another aspect of her Luddite-like nature, and her being so convinced "LEE" is one person that nothing will sway her.

Nim turns to Captain Mustache. "Did I hear you say 'mug o gog' earlier? Is that something a commissioned officer gets while non-comms get grog? Or is that a lashunta beverage?. The tone in her voice suggests it's a genuine question.

Love the showmanship all! :>

Kiv forges ahead of the rest of the group, sharp-eyed as she stares into the dark hallway. She spots plenty of places where the buckled metal flooring may prove a tripping hazard, or places where exposed wiring could be dangerous if it were powered, but she doesn't spot anything particularly hazardous. She does notice that some of the more damaged sections of the hallway have exposed rock behind the peeling metal panels. However, nothing seems to be moving in these hallways other than the party itself (along with the film crew :>).

When AMOSU makes their whispered request, he receives absolutely no response back from from Wazasha. Instead, out of the corner of his eye, he notices that one of the support crew are holding up a sign in the darkness.

SIGN wrote:
NO. REMEMBER: AUTHENTIC STARFINDERING. IMAGINE WE WERE NOT HERE AT ALL.

AMOSU inspects the exposed rock that Kiv noticed earlier, noticing that while the rock appears to be natural, there are signs of warping and buckling throughout its layers. It seems as though the moon must have experienced some powerful gravitic or kinetic forces in the past to have suffered such damage to its basic structure. Whatever affected the moon might've also been the cause of the severe damage to this hallway.

Kiv, Faraeon and AMOSU also inspect the exposed wiring, finding most of it unsalvagable. What all three are able to tell is that the technological elements of this tunnel are roughly comparable to current Pact Worlds' technology, but are of a design never before documented. Faraeon also locates the equivalent of a junction box and attempts to restore some basic functionality. For the briefest of moments, a series of panels on the ceiling of the tunnel flicker with dim violet light.

But the illumination is short lived. The 'junction box' sprays out a rain of rain of sparks as the last of the system's energy is discharged.

-------

Kiv continues leading the way forwards and is the first to notice an unpleasant smell of refuse emitting from the hallway ahead. She proceeds forwards and at an intersection of the massive hallway with another smaller passage, she finds what could only be described as a massive midden. Refuse and excrement lie in a shallow pit in the floor where a steel floor tile has ripped free.

Engineering DC10 (inspecting the midden):
The trash here consists of low value technological scrap, mostly wiring extracted from the walls of this hallway, most likely.

Life Sciences DC10 (inspecting the midden):
You identify the ample excrement as coming from goblins. At least two dozen of them must use this area.

If you exceed the Life Sciences DC by 5:
Some other creature is responsible for some of the other excrement here, something larger than a goblin (probably around vesk size) that eats meat.

Survival DC14 (inspecting the midden):
You can tell that several creatures visited this midden in the past hour. Furthermore, you identify tracks of goblins leaving this place... the goblins weren't careful about avoiding stepping in the business here.

Faraeon jumps back dramatically as the junction box sprays sparks toward him. "NOTINTHEFACE," he shouts in alarm, but soon regains his composure and reports his findings. "System's shot, Captain!"

As the group ventures further down the corridors, Faraeon covers the rear, occasionally turning to walk backward and "watch their backs" as if the crew wasn't making it as if he were in the very center of the oversized expedition team. He joins the others at the front when they come upon the midden, though, and has his sidekick, Kip come take a look at the scene with him.

"I guess we know how the system got in its wrecked state then. It's been scrapped to death by the Exhaust Eaters!"

Kip - Life Science: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Faraeon beckons to the young halfling who had been lagging a short distance behind the other Starfinders, and the halfling jogs up beside Faraeon, a Star-Jumper T-shirt over his space suit. "Kip, my boy," Faraeon says, "You know about all manner of life in this galaxy, see if you can tell me about what you see here."

Kip steps toward the midden, looks at the mess, and answers, "I think it's a mix, sir! Number 1 and number 2." Faraeon puts his head in his hand and sighs. "Thank you for that brilliant insight, Kip."

Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Faraeon is so distracted by Kip's failure that he fails equally at noticing the tracks Kiv picked up on.

AMOSU turns from the cameras, hiding a dejected look… It was an excellent plan… Adapting to these circumstances will be difficult… Remember - they are not here… AMOSU accesses its computer AI through the comm, “Astator, can you locate any connections to an infosphere or similar network?”
Just in case there are any other computer connection options: Computers: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

AMOSU cautiously moves next to Kiv, moving its shiny, new Defender Pulsecaster Rifle to its right hand and adjusts the small handaxe on its hip making sure the axe is readily accessible. ”Goblins, notoriously ingenious, vicious, and lacking in hygiene.” Returning to its documentarian voice, AMOSU shares any relevant facts related goblins that it is aware of.

AMOSU continues to examine the scavenged surroundings. “Judging from the amount of time and materials the Exhaust Eaters have had access to we should expect them to be VERY well-armed. At least a lack of other tracks or spore would mean few competitors, so their defenses should be relaxed.”

Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Trying to avoid staring directly into the offal pit, and grateful that it does not breathe, AMOSU asks, ”Kiv, are you able to assess the direction the goblins went? Or, perhaps, which path is most frequestly used?” AMOSU thinks for moment. ”I feel addressing this threat would be a priority… Er… , glancing to Mustachio, "I mean… We should give these… Scallywags… what for… And… Be seeing their booty…?” Trying to play a niave character, and line up an “unintentional” comedic straight man… Please someone have at that last line!

AMOSU detects a faint infosphere connection and from its signing, deduces that it must originate from the Exemplarion floating in orbit around the moon. The connection is fairly weak for your personal comms and other devices, but obviously strong enough for Wazasha's crew to stream back the footage in real-time. Maybe the production team has particularly high-powered receivers?

AMOSU also recalls that goblins are skilled scavengers that tend to fight and protect themselves with improvised or unstable weaponry. And where there's one goblin, there are likely to be dozens more. Where there's good conditions for goblins to thrive, they expand quickly!

As AMOSU, Kiv, and even Kip relay their insightful conclusions (however erroneous they might be), members of the camera team peel off briefly to get a close-up of their "thinking faces".

----

Kiv continues to lead the way forward, following the stinking goblin tracks as they split off from the massive main tunnel and head down a side passage. The passage begins to turn, heading downward in a slow spiral. Just as Mustachio is about to crack another pirate reference...

>BOOOOM!<

An explosion rocks the entire access corridor! It seems to have come from some area of out sight ahead, though it can't be too far away. Shards of metal and bits of loose wiring from the ceiling panels rain down on the party (causing no significant harm), but thankfully the integrity of the corridor holds.

Nim's first thought is that the goblins have managed to do something stupid. Then she thinks about how the explosion occurred just as she asked about how to proceed. Has Zo! rigged things to spice up the show at dramatic points, or when ratings go down? Is the Second Seeker in on the show being rigged, if it is rigged?

Nim, Aazanar and AMOSU lead the way down the spiraling access corridor in pursuit of the source of the explosion. A couple of hundred feet down, the corridor abruptly opens up into a massive underground cavern.

The cavern's walls and floor are the same rock that was previously peeking out from behind the metal-clad walls, and the 30ft high ceiling is currently obscured by a rising plume of smoke and dust. Directly ahead is the ruin of some circular building. Its remaining metal walls are bent and torn in some places, and ceiling of the building has long since either been destroyed or removed.

The source of the explosion must have been in the central room of this structure, since the plume of smoke rises thickly from that direction.

As you rush forward to investigate, AMOSU and Aazanar suddenly hear a high pitched giggling emitting from behind the walls ahead.

"HEH! So big, such boom!" and "Wekk never manage anything like that before."

While you look for the source of the voices, another one squeaks in alarm when Nim trips over some metal "Everyone! Hear that!? VISITORS! Maybe they have more grenades?" A chorus of "YAY! MORE GRENADES!" responds.

Faraeon turns so just his "good side" is directed toward the camera and gives the audience a wink before calling out to his team, "I'm going high, somebody else go low!" He rushes forward and leaps up to scale one of the fire-blackened walls. Clinging to the top lip of one such wall, he aims his static arc pistol toward the central goblin and fires off a shot.

Normal gravity in here Aazanar.

When AMOSU starts counting down, the goblins start cackling with glee. Two of them join in as well, adding sing-song-y voices that get to "Three!" before they lose patience with AMOSU's slow pace. They shout out "TWO ONE SHOOT SHOOT! GWAAHAHAHAA!" and begin firing their junklasers at the party.

Before they get off a shot, Faraeon tumbles forwards and leaps off of one of the ruin's walls. Despite the slick arc of his jump, the goblins aren't even slightly fazed. Nevertheless, the shot from his static arc pistol impacts the central goblin (Now marked with a yellow border on the map), leaving his scrappy armor sizzling!

The goblins retaliate, firing their junklasers on the group in a rapid and reckless hail of shots! Bolts narrowly miss Nim, AMOSU and Faraeon. The final goblin circles around and gets a sneaky shot off against AMOSU, striking him in the leg with a sizzling bolt. 2 points of fire damage.

"HAH! Take that wordy-word man!"

Mustachio spins around to catch that goblin in a flamethrower blast, but the little guy proves far too nimble.

Suddenly, a strange creature resembling a crystalline, six-legged armadillo runs out of the smoke of the central room and heads straight for the party! It rears back, twin tongues tasting the air, and its heavy digging claws swing towards Fareon's chest! While the lashunta manages to turn with the blow, it's clear the impact was severe. Crit dealing 12 points of damage!

The goblins whoop in delight and chant "KILL HIM SHINY! KILL HIM!"

Mysticism DC11 to identify creature:
This creature is a young Spicodranth, a type of magical beast. It's most known for its ability to manipulate light, heat and electricity using its crystalline hide.

"It appears to a be a young Spicodranth, a type of magical beast. It's most known for its ability to manipulate light, heat and electricity using its crystalline hide."

"Hear that, everybody," Faraeon asks the team. "This thing is probably going to bounce laser, fire, and shock weapons right back at us! Probably best to switch to projectiles if you've got 'em." With that, Faraeon drops to the ground and dexterously rolls away from the spicodranth, avoiding its claws with a sudden change in direction mid-stride. He gives himself some space before switching his static arc pistol out for his Idaran force training baton. He activates the baton, and a shimmering blue field of hard light surrounds the weapon. "Come and get some," he says, holding the baton out toward the creature.

Standard action to move away from the spicodranth. Due to my uncanny mobility operative exploit, this does not provoke an AoO. Move action then to draw my Idaran force training baton and power it up.

@Faraeon:
Kip knows that spicodranths are immune to being blinded, dazzled or fascinated, and that they're hardy and quick on their paws (good FORT and REF). He also knows that they're capable of absorbing and redirecting energy from electricity or fire based attacks, as long as the attack isn't a direct hit.

This ability to redirect energy manifests as blinding light that emits from the creature's crystalline hide. It can blind multiple people this way at short range or a single person at long range.

Finally, Kip knows that a spicodranth's hide provides additional protection against energy based attacks as long as it can absorb ambient light in the vicinity.
The current light level on the spicodranth is NORMAL, provided by people's flashlights.

AMOSU's pulse rifle narrowly misses the green goblin, and the goblin team follows with a hail of retaliatory fire. The wild fire from the goblins inside the structure scorches the walls and the floor for the most part, but a single beam strikes Aazanar. (For 3 points of fire damage)

They screech out "FOR SHINNNNYYYY!" as they attack.

Yeah, may go a bit fast then. I suppose that's okay.

Aazanar looks at the goblins in the next chamber and grits his teeth. But then he thinks... If I go after those guys, the camera crew won't see it! Gotta show off while I can!

Nim's shot ricochet's off the wall and then off to the east somewhere. Out of the corner of your eyes, you notice the android members of the production crew ducking for cover and the bullet embedding itself in an uncaring ghoul cameraman.

Faraeon and AMOSU each land glancing electric blasts on the green goblin, scorching armor and goblin hide in equal measure. Meanwhile Aazanar's cool wall jump ends with his solar flail caving in a goblin head. The red goblin's body wobbles for a moment and then collapses to the ground!

Kiv is then able to redirect her shot towards the only other goblin in her line of sight (yellow), lining a shot up that catches the creature in the chest. The yellow goblin sprawls out across the floor, dead or close to it.

The final remaining goblin turns fearful, calling out "Kizz not liking this, not liking this at all!" before throwing his dogslicer at Faraeon and retreating in a mad dash. The dogslicer arcs through the air and into the wall, leaving the lashunta unharmed.

Aazanar, that'd be fine, except AMOSU beat you to the punch.

AMOSU's electric blast connects with the goblin's oversized head. Its eyes turn up in its head and it collapses, twitching as the electricity runs through its body. Unlike its brethren, the nonlethal electrical effect leaves it still alive.

Combat over!

The smoke slowly clears from the central section of the ruin, revealing a massive pile of rubble lying on the ground and a hole blasted in the ceiling above. (The map shows a staircase in the center, please imagine that there's a pile of rubble instead of a staircase :>)

The camera crew scatter throughout the area, getting dramatic angles of yourselves as you recover from the brief fight, while also getting compelling angles of the goblins' work.
