Hi all and welcome to this table of SFS1-09, LIVE EXPLORATION EXTREME! Looks like we have a bit of a mixed level group, so we'll have to sort that out before starting.
Once you work out what character you'd like to bring, please provide the following:
1. Player Name for the chronicle
2. Character Name
3. Class and Level
4. SFS# (and dash)
5. Which faction will you be championing?
6. Day job Roll (if any)
7. Favorite Flavor of Zo! Refreshing~, the Zo!-branded soda drink sensation sweeping the Pact Words
Also, if you have anything odd/unusual about your character that I should know, please say so now.
Go ahead and dot into gameplay as well when you're ready.
(For you newbies, "dotting into gameplay" involves making any post in the gameplay thread and then deleting your post. This causes the gameplay and discussion threads to show up on the Campaign tab of your profile and is a good way to make sure you're not missing any posts!)

GM Cellion |

The current average character level based on the characters people signed up with is 2.33, putting us at the high end of Tier 1-2. Seeing as we have a majority of people in that bracket, I'd prefer that we play there in any case.
Aazanar and Ilsia, are you two OK with playing down / Out-of-subtier? Or do you want to bring a low-tier character instead?

Player Name for the chronicle: Mjolbeard89
Character Name: Faraeon Star-Jumper
Class and Level: Operative 2
SFS# (and dash): 177216-701
Faction: Exo-Guardians
Day job Roll (if any): Forgo Day Job roll for True Savior of Tasch boon
Favorite Flavor of Zo! Refreshing~: Faraeon is all about Zo!'s Solarberry Smash!
Unusual Character stuff:
Faraeon has a couple weapons that are worth noting. He uses a static arc pistol, which he keeps on the stun (non-lethal) setting unless otherwise stated. He also uses an Idaran Force Training Baton in melee.
He also has the Uncanny Mobility operative exploit.

Sgt Nim. |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

1. Player Name for the chronicle-Ralph
2. Character Name Sgt. Nim. Or Nim. Nim’s not picky on titles
3. Class and Level: Soldier 2
4. SFS# (and dash): 21112-701
5. Which faction will you be championing? Exoguardians
6. Day job Roll (if any): Profession (Mercenary)
7. Favorite Flavor of Zo! Refreshing~, the Zo!-branded soda drink sensation sweeping the Pact Words: Nim actually met Zo! on her last mission for the Starfinder Society. She is a little leery of anything the living-impaired might drink, and would rather consume Ghibran cuisine. She’s not sure why she’s the only Pact Worlder who seems to enjoy eating the food of bipedal bug people, but that just means more for her.
Unusual Character Trait: Nim also joined up with the Starfinder Society because she thought she’d be making a difference as an Exoguardian. Her initial interactions with the higher-ranks of the Starfinder Society have left her disillusioned of that notion. After a mission for the Society that led to her making friends with a group of yeti who party 24/7, she has taken up the Yeti party mindset.
She is also not a Ysoki. Apparently her last name is similar to a common Ysoki family name, minus the “h,” and she frequently gets spam messages for fur coloring treatments, nail grooming, and other things that a Human really doesn’t have an interest in. This has led to her partying even more with the yeti to deal with the fact people can’t even recognize what species she is.

Great, folks are are trickling in here. I'm planning on getting an initial post up in gameplay tonight and then getting us started tomorrow. Hope you're all ready to move at a decent clip. :>
A few things to sort out for the new folks:
Please make sure to set up your alias that represents the character you'll be using and use that to post in gameplay. Looks like you have Sgt Nim and AMOSU. You can peek at Faraeon's profile to see how he set things up. Its acceptable to include a link to a character sheet (Like you have under your AMOSU alias right now) rather than printing out all the details into the body of the profile.
One thing I definitely DO need from you in your profile is for you to set up your stat line (the line or lines under your characters name when you post) to show the basic important info about your character. I would consider what Kiv has in her stat line to be the basics and you can add more if you'd like.
Note that your stat line is formed from the following fields in your profile in the following order:
Gender -> Race -> Classes/Levels
Since you guys are new to PbP, I'd like to also point you to some guides that go into some formatting conventions, tips and tricks, etc. You may have already taken a look at these, but if you haven't, they're a good read and will probably help to answer a lot of your questions.
First, Doomed Hero has a basic guide to PbP that's absolutely fantastic to start with.
Second, Crucible has a 'what to include in your character sheet' guide
And finally, Painlord has a legendary (?) guide on how to be a better player in PbP that's worth a read
Any questions on PbP? Ask! Me or the other players will get you an answer :>
And one last thing: For both of you, I need you to roll your day job rather than just writing it out.

My apologies. I've updated my character profile to have all the relevant data I could think of; if there's anything I'm missing please let me know and I'll add it in.
For my Profession check I got a roll of 13, so with my skill value and the multiplier I got a 34.

GM Cellion |

Not sure if you're making your actual roll somewhere else Nim, but you should roll with the dice command right here on the forums. You'll be using this command for all the rolls in-game. The formatting looks like this:
[.dice=Perception]1d20 + 3[./dice]
And once you remove the periods it'll show up like:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

![]() |

Sorry sorry , I am here and will get that requested info up tomorrow. Don't delay on my account, Mustachio is a as reliable as a 3 year old at the grocery store. He will never let you down.

GM Cellion |

@Nim: Also, your stat line looks good! The only important thing its missing is entries tracking the 3 points: HP, SP and RP. You'll want to have your current and max values for all three in there so you can keep track of them mid-scenario.
Hi Mustachio, I'll be starting the briefing tomorrow, so you still have time to get yourself introduced in gameplay too.

From the poster formerly known as Anxa...
How's the stat line? I'll tidy up my char sheet over the next night or two. It's already in progress.
To recap and add the dice roll:
1. Player Name - Jay
2. Character Name - ASOMU [Automated Maintenance & Operations Support Unit]
3. Class and Level - Mechanic/Exocortex (1)
4. SFS# (and dash) - 2352348-702
5. Which faction will you be championing - Datafiles
6. Day job Roll - Profession (Lab Tech): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
7. Favorite Flavor of Zo! Refreshing~, - Zo! Classic

GM Cellion |

Looks great to me AMOSU, thanks!

2. Mustachio Marino
3. Envoy 2
4. SFS# (and dash): # 258259-702
5. Which faction will you be championing? Second Seekers (LE)
6. Day job Roll (if any): Going to ask for a check on True Savior of Tasch boon
7. Favorite Flavor of Zo! Refreshing~, the Zo!-branded soda drink sensation sweeping the Pact Words. Zo! Red Ranger Cherry
in the process of slotting my boons. Will have those in my alias. Does the module call out anything in particular as useful?
edit: I slotted the High Society boon, which has Zo! listed.

Sgt Nim. |

Gotcha! I did just roll a die for it, as I kept trying to test out the dice command here in my "About Me" on my sheet, and being very confused as my test attempts were working. Hopefully I've got the hang of this now:
Profession: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
I updated the character description section with my SP, HP and RP.
Sorry for all the hassle!

GM Cellion |

No worries Nim, there is absolutely no hassle. You guys are new to PbP after all!
On more thing though: I need you to move your HP/SP/RP from the "Full Name" section of your profile to one of the three fields that will show up in your stat line (Gender, race, classes).

Boons!
Faction Boon
Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) Champion (Faction Boon)
You’ve declared your allegiance to the Acquisitives and dedicate your missions to furthering the goals of that faction. This Faction boon allows the character to gain
Reputation with this faction. A character with this boon slotted at the end of a successfully completed scenario gains Reputation as detailed in the primary and secondary success conditions of that scenario.
Ally Boon
High Society Influence (Ally Boon): During course of Luwazi Elsebo's gala to announce the future of the Starfinder Society, you impressed one or more of the guest in Attendence. How this influence will play out in the future is not yet clear, but you have nevertheless ingratiated yourself with a number of influential people. You will be told if this boon is important to a future scenario prior to slotting your boons (Iteration-177, Naiaj, Royo, Zo!)
Starship Boon
Automated Defenses (Starship Boon): You defeated one of the orbital defense platforms orbiting the planet Elytrio. The platform contained several unique, albeit technologically outdated, innovations in starship design. The most promising adaptation of the technology is its ability to deter oncoming missiles using miniature automated drones. When you slot this starship boon, once per starship combat, a science officer can reduce the speed on a single tracking weapon fired at your starship by 50% for 1 round. Declare the use of this ability when the enemy weapon is fired but before its gunnery check is attempted. A science officer can spend a Resolve Point to activate this boon in any subsequent round or encounter. A starship can only be improved by a single copy of this boon.
Social Boon
AbadarCorp Augmentations (Social Boon, Limited Use (3)): AbadarCorp has made you a special offer after you helped maintain the stability of their Freemarkets by keeping illegal augmentations off the streets. At the end of a scenario where you have this boon slotted, you can purchase one or more augmentations from the Starfinder Core Rulebook and receive a one-time 20% discount. If the item level of the augmentation is 8 or more, then you receive only a 10% discount. Only three uses.
Slotless Boons
Marked Field Agent (Slotless Boon) SYSTEM:Hand , MODEL: Single ,LEVEL: 1. This implant rests underneath the skin of the palm of one hand, or at the end of a tentacle or similar appendage in species that lack hands. The augmentation can be activated or deactivated mentally as a swift action. Activating the implant causes a rendition of the Starfinder Society’s symbol to glow underneath the skin. This augmentation acts as a mark, letting others know you are a member of the Starfinder Society. It also increases the light level within 5 feet by one step while active.
Mobile Translator (Slotless)
Prerequisites: Wayfinders Tier 1
Cost: 2 Fame
Benefit: You acquire a Tetrad certified translator as if you had
purchased it, but you do not need to expend any credits.
Normal: You need to spend credits to acquire this item.
This elaborate datapad has several additional audio receptors to capture nearby sounds. If you don’t share a language with creatures
you encounter, you can activate this device to collect basic linguistic information. The device requires 10 minutes of observed conversation to gain enough information to operate. The device then acts as a rudimentary translator. It does not allow you to converse with creatures with whom you don’t share a language, but it can relate very basic information. Examples of statements the device could interpret would be: “come with us,” “lower your weapons,” or “leave immediately.” The device cannot parse proper names, including personal designations or the names of items and places. Some extraordinary complex or obscure languages might not translate clearly with this device. A Tetrad certified translator has 10 capacity and 1/hour usage.
True Savior of Tasch (Slotless Boon; Limited Use, 5 checkmarks needed, 1 gained): You helped ensure a measure of prosperity for the Akitonian town of Tasch by enticing AbadarCorp to set up a shipping outpost in the town. You can forgo making a day job roll to instead devote time to assist with the growth of Tasch. Any time you opt to do so, check a box on this boon and make a note on the Chronicle sheet associated with that scenario, indicating your partook in this endeavor. Once all five boxes on this boon are marked, you receive 500 UPBs as recompense from the people of Tasch for helping to develop their now thriving town. These UPBs cannot be converted to credits and must be used to craft some form of equipment.

Exhausted... was working extra hours last night. Will post boons this afternoon or evening. I have done the SFS 1-00 scenario and the chronicle was applied to this character.

![]() |

Ah! Friend Gamuzali! (you dirty lizard, you gave me a fake comm number).
That is too funny, Faraeon. I had no idea it was you.

From somewhere in the distance you hear a burst of reptilian laughter!
Glad to be able to play with you again, Mustachio (or Muztazio--whatever you're going by these days)!

My agent told me that Muztazio Mazino was a stupid name, and stop being an idiot and listening to halfling operatives with acting advice.

Sgt Nim. |

Ally Boon: High Society Influence. Zo! And the other four guests were all impressed.
Faction Boon: Exoguardians

GM Cellion |

Looks like Mustachio and Nim are the only ones with the High Society Influence (Zo!) boon and Aazanar is the only one with Claimant to Salvation. If that isn't correct, let me know.
Thanks all.

yarrr, i just be noticin' that you lasunta landlubbers went and found yerselves some real lashunta avatar pics. Where in the seven seas did yah find such a thing in that mess o 10,000 pictures?

![]() |

They just came out with them. If you sort the images by date, you should find Starfinder avatar pics in the first few pages, including a number of lashunta!

![]() |

Yarrrr...this picture be lackin a mustache but at least it be havin a beard, a rare feature in a lashunta I would be a thinkin.

Is there a way to add an image to an alias? I can't seem to find one...
My Account dropdown > Organized Play > Edit button next to your character > "Change" button next to Character Image > click on the image of your choice > click on the "Select This Avatar" button

Sgt Nim. |

Thank you for the heads-up on the new images! I managed to get on an actual computer today and update, since the avatar list is...odd on my phone.
Sadly, no blonde images that resemble Nim, so we'll assume she found some spray-on red due in the dressing room.

GM Cellion |

Yep AMOSU, your character sheet looks funky to me too. Not sure why though.

![]() |

Thanks for checking Cellion... I'll fiddle with it and see if I can get it to line up better.

Thanks for checking Cellion... I'll fiddle with it and see if I can get it to line up better.
AMOSU:
I'm not sure but I'm betting this will fix it. My guess is that the string of characters in your link there is too long with no breaks in it, so it forces the text to go "out of bounds." Try putting your homepage link in an actual link. Like this:
[
url=https://1drv.ms/f/s!AoNZ7yrHRYEjih_b2rqCuuo1Bp2A]HOMEPAGE[/url]
You'll have to backspace so the first [ is on the same line as everything else. So it will then look like this:

![]() |

Glad I could help. :)

![]() |

Guys: I've been having internet connectivity issues the last few days. My connection has been going out for long periods. I'm hoping that the problem is over but I can't say for sure.
I'm going to try and get caught up but since my window for posting may be limited I will handle threads that require short posts first.

GM Cellion |

Thanks for the heads up Aazanar! I'll bot you if needed.

![]() |

Kiv suggests (internally) that the dwarves are there from a portal. Mustachio is probably not smart enough to think it out, but what I think happened is that these dwarves lived here before the gap, then the gap happened, everyone lost their memories, and they came to the conclusion that they were still underground in Golarian.
Pretty cool idea by the writers!
And maybe Mustachio is working with a terrible translator, but both he and I do think that it is better to simply tell them the truth. Keeping up the lie would be cruel.

![]() |

Kiv is more worried about immediate fallout. Tell the truth, just not necessarily before having the situation under control.
Again, no worries here, just playing the character. I am having fun with everyone.

GM Cellion |

Just to let you all know, I'll be at PAX Unplugged this weekend and therefore likely won't have any free time to post until Monday. If any of you happen to be at PAX, I'll be running PF2E Playtest demos in the afternoon on both days and running SFS1-09 on Sat evening.
Otherwise, enjoy the weekend and I'll continue things on Monday!

Sgt Nim. |

Does my Mercenary theme reduce any potential DC on that Profession check by 5? After The Captain's feigning of death Nim's looking to upstage him.

![]() |

I'm a little confused, not just Mustachio. Were these dwarves actors and this place a set?
Or was someone putting these dwarves through a cruel simulation, and we just freed them?
Maybe we don't know yet.

![]() |

I think the whole show was legit. Dwarves were held in stasis or something, someone trying to learn about Golarion. Whoever it was left a long time ago, system wore down, released the dwarves, they try to escape and after a few generations here they are. The dwarves are clueless, but real.
The other doors are probably other observation chambers.
