Did we have anyone trained in diplomacy? If needed, I could use the first level rebuild rules to give Ears a skill point in diplomacy and 12 Ch for a net +2, but at least he'd be trained.
Ears can be Science officer (+11), engineer (+9), or with the rebuild, Captain at +2. Captain seems to be mostly a cheerleder role anyway.

Gwin has +8 Computers and +11 Engineering, so I'd propose he be engineer and Shiktal go Science Officer, but happy with it flipped depending on your preference. I've never done ship combat so only going on numbers.

Found us a Captain/Face character for the next mission. I'll post the opening in a bit.
And welcome aboard Azura. Please Dot in gameplay when you get a chance and place your information in the presentation above my header.
Everyone, please slot your boons after getting the mission briefing, I will advise if there are any special ones that are called for.

I know nothing, but Pegasus seems way to go to me.
Any advice for early purchases? Like in PF I'd always use first prestige to get a wand of CLW. Are there any similar "go to" items in SF?

My vote is for the Drake in this instance. More health and a better computer is worth the small loss of firepower, IMO. (The Drake is actually more heavily armed, but the missile launcher only has 5 ammo so the Pegasus will be more consistent in damage dealing).
On a side note, if folks want I whipped up some printable "quick reference" sheets for each Starship role for my RL group which I could share with the group. Gives you an idea of what you can do each round in a concise format.
In some places I used shorthand to fit everything in and to keep each sheet to 1 page each. All the checks add 1.5x the starship tier (2 x 1.5 = 3), and Easy is 10, Moderate is 15, Challenging is 20, for a total of Easy = 13, Moderate = 18, Challenging = 23

I agree on the Drake. Durability and firepower seem a better match for orbital defenses. I expect Jim to fall on the Pegasus side; it's a sexier machine from a pilot's perspective.
I can dig up some online linksfor ship combat actions too.
(FCD, your link gave me a 401 "unauthorized" error.)

Hello, hello! Looks like I'm joining an already established crew so I'll try to fit in.
Azara's got a +11 in Diplomacy so he can cheerlead with the best of them (in this tier, at least.) It most often comes out as bad poetry, pop philosophy, or bad self-help mottoes.
I also vote for the Drake. I always prefer tough over fast.
I have a boon that can give us a full reload on the missile launcher, assuming it's the "limited fire" special property.

            Welcome, Azara! Thanks for joining.
All, Hishrizzik has a starship boon I can slot that will give us emergency hull points should our ship ever fall below 0. So we've got an emergency band-aid, though it's a one-use-only thing!

            Cool. Here goes -
Ally - Dream Whispers - Once per adventure, anytime I miss an attack or fail a save I can immediately count it as being 2 higher.
Personal - Scoured Stars Survivor - Once per day as a free action, I can reduce the number of Resolve points required to stabilize by 1 (minimum 0.) Immediately gain 1d6 Hit Points.
And I'll add the ship one tomorrow...I don't have it with me.

            Boons Slotted
Social: AbadarCorp Acquaintance (unlikely to come up, but why not? No other social boons!)
Starship: Hero of the Stars: This boon activates any time your ship is reduced to 0 or fewer hull points. Your ship immediately regains hull points equal to its tier x 5 (never more than 30). A starship can never have more than one of this boon attached to it. When this boon activates, cross it off your chronicle sheet.
Slotless: Starfinder Insignia: Have a commemorative Starfinder insignia which doubles as a secret tier-1 datapad.

Lots of pilot options, John. When I pilot, my go-to is 'evasive' which drops the ship AC and TL by 2.
The Drake's primary armament is in turrets so that you don't need to worry about putting the enemy in a particular arc. Any arc let's us fire the big guns and any arc except aft conceivably let's us fire all three weapons if someone else acts as a gunner.
I don't have weapon stats available to me, but I think the high explosive missiles are fairly fast. I'm guessing we want to operate about 10-20 hexes from the enemy ship. We'll know better after we see what their weapons are, and I can double check our missile's speed.

The coilgun has a range increment of 20 hexes so the range for that one isn't a worry.
The missile launcher is a bit more complicated though. It also has a range increment of 20 hexes, but it only has a speed of 12 - which means if we are more than 12 hexes away, we have to make another attack roll the following round to make sure it's guided in for a hit. This makes the missile's effective range 12 hexes to avoid making 2 attack rolls.

A message to all my games:
I apologize for disappearing late last week! I am a freelancer and my work has suddenly and unexpectedly kicked into high gear. On top of that, I’m attempting to apply to graduate programs, and most of those applications are due in early January. I was hoping that I could keep up my posting rate, but between work and the holidays I’m clearly going to slump a little.
If I’m a player in this game, PLEASE feel free to bot me if I haven’t posted in a bit. I really appreciate it.
If I’m the GM, I can only ask for your kind patience. I’ll try to post ASAP to keep us moving.
Sorry, again, for the slightly delayed notice. Things should clear up after the next two weeks.

Space combats are swingy. They can change in an eyeblink.
We've had more than a couple bad gunnery rolls . Hopefully my last round was good enough to score a couple hits. Does anyone have a better gunnery rating than Ears? I will gladly change places.
That said. Yeah, we're getting hosed. Since we're out of missiles we need to consider breaking off or using Azara's missile boon.
Z..D..'s helping us out but we need to keep better track of status both for ourselves and the enemy. I'll re-read the posts and see if I can tell for sure which drones have been damaged.
EDIT: There's 9 damage on 'Drone#1' but I'm not sure which color that is.
16 was good enough to hit the mothership before so Hish should score damage this round through the mothership's rear shield.
15 will not be enough to tag the maroon drone so that's still in the fight.

I appreciate the assist. I will look over it as well.
I will say this has been a tough one for a few tables. Mainly due to the platform continues to spit them out until it runs out of drones. But if you have not noticed. It has not popped out another one after the fourth. , The drones are maneuverable and most the time they evade or flyby, when they evade, they add to their already high AC.
Additionally, make sure if you move the ship, do not flip the shields. Yellow is always the front. Red is to the left and blue is to the right of yellow respectively. Green is the rear of the ship.
In reference to guns and changing roles. The Drake does have an additional gun. The gyrolaser in the front arc. It will take some maneuvering, but a third gun in the fight may help.
