Tess scratches her head when Drot reveals what the goblet says. "Tears? Maybe somebody should cry into it?"

Her attention is drawn back to the treasure chests. Her eyes sparkle with avarice, but she waits to see if Charles will declare the room clear first.

Male Human Priest/Paladin/Healer Level 8, / S 14, A 10, I 11, W 14, / Health: 47 (41: W/Crown: -6 ), Damage: 0, Perception: 11 (Crown: +2 Boons) Def: 10 (18), Move 10, Insanity 0, Corruption: 0, Fortune: (Yes), Boons (1), + Holy Symbol Boon 1 minute, Status: (Normal)

"Seems to be clear in the room here. he said, looking around.

After Drot'ook brings up the goblet. "Seems strange that a demon of evaporation would need something that continually gives water. Unless it needs to evaporate something to keep itself alive. I admit I don't know but I also don't trust it enough to drink from it myself and would caution the rest of you to not do so either."

Charles - you can detect one living creature in the room to the north, beyond the next door. And back in the hallway, you were able to detect one living creature beyond the door to the South.

Female Human Rogue/Auspex/Daemonhost Level 8 | S11, A15, I13, W10 | Health 40; Damage 0 | D19 | Move: 10 | Insanity: 3 | Corruption: 0 | Fortune: Yes | Status: Normal | Appearance

Tesswyn carefully searches through the chests, looking for choice bits of treasure while hopefully avoiding any traps.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 1 + (4) = 13

Afterwards, she does some mental arithmetic. "I think this north door leads into the spider's room. Best not to go that way."

Male Human Priest/Paladin/Healer Level 8, / S 14, A 10, I 11, W 14, / Health: 47 (41: W/Crown: -6 ), Damage: 0, Perception: 11 (Crown: +2 Boons) Def: 10 (18), Move 10, Insanity 0, Corruption: 0, Fortune: (Yes), Boons (1), + Holy Symbol Boon 1 minute, Status: (Normal)

Charles nodded at Tesswyn's assessment. "In that case there is a spider still in that room to the north. The door to the south also had something in it too. It might be her."

Android | Wizard (exploiter) 2| Magus (Eldritch archer) 1/ Alchemist (Mindchemist) 1 | HP 20/20 | AC 15 | F 4 R 7 W 4 | Perception +8 | Init: +11

Regulus ponders the meaning of the words on the goblet. "Untrained in such matters. Crying in goblet worth attempt." He then helps Tesswyn load up the treasure then turns to face the south door. "We should dtermine nature of unknown threat. Prepared to enter."

You open up some of the chests. Upon first inspection, they are full of dust, dried skin, hair, and fingernails.

Female Human Rogue/Auspex/Daemonhost Level 8 | S11, A15, I13, W10 | Health 40; Damage 0 | D19 | Move: 10 | Insanity: 3 | Corruption: 0 | Fortune: Yes | Status: Normal | Appearance

”Ew. Somebody else can dig through these.”

Android | Wizard (exploiter) 2| Magus (Eldritch archer) 1/ Alchemist (Mindchemist) 1 | HP 20/20 | AC 15 | F 4 R 7 W 4 | Perception +8 | Init: +11

Regulus inserts his hands into the keratinous material and pushes it around to search for anything of use. "Disgust response adapted to prevent infection. Irrelevant for inorganics."

Orc Magician/Berserker/Librarian 7 |Dmg: 2d6| S14, A10, I14, W10 | HP 13(10)/40(10) | D14 | Speed10 | Power3 | Perception15 | Insanity0 | Corruption4 | Fortune: No | Status: Terribly Sad

Can we identify the white substance that the water from the goblet left behind when it dried?

"Let's see..."

Drot feels around the inside of the cup, then pours a little on his fingers to see if there are any adverse effects.

He'll also catch up to the group after.

Drot:
There's no adverse effects when you expose your hands to the fluid pouring out. It certainly seems like water. It doesn't harm you at all when you touch it.

Regulus:
In the various chests, you find a total of 13 copper pennies, 4 silver shillings, and 3 gold crowns.

Once again, laughter echoes through the halls.

Tesswyn shudders at the ominous laughter. "Come on then, let's get this over with."

She lets the others open the south door in the hallway, ready to confront whatever lies beyond,

Android | Wizard (exploiter) 2| Magus (Eldritch archer) 1/ Alchemist (Mindchemist) 1 | HP 20/20 | AC 15 | F 4 R 7 W 4 | Perception +8 | Init: +11

Is it the normal 10:1 ratio as you go from copper to silver to gold? If so, 58.8 copper pennies each.

Regulus hands out shares of the money. "Even distribution most obvious protocol." Then he follows Tesswyn and opens the door, weapon ready.

Male Dwarf Warrior 2 | S11, A11, I9, W10| HP 24\24 | DEF 14 (13 if no shield) | Move: 8 | Insanity: 3 | Corruption: 1 | Fortune: Yes | Status: Normal

Gronder steps up near Regulus, weapon and shield at the ready. "Yes. Let's be done. Sooner I never have to hear that laugh again, happier I'll be." He grimaces just thinking about it.

Yes, it's the normal distribution of 10:1; however, unless someone has an ability to magically transform gold to copper, then you can't split it up in such a manner.

Will be updating the game today to reveal the next room.

Male Human Path Level 1 (Priest) | S10, A11, I11, W11 | HP 11\14 | D13 | Move: 10 | Insanity:1 | Corruption: | Fortune: No | Status: Normal Spells: Theurgy - Lvl 0 1/2, Life - Lvl 0 1/2

Walt, still feeling the effects of the dehydration, looks at the water dribbling from the chalice hungrily (or is that thirstily?).

"As much as I would love to drink deeply of that chalice, I have a feeling that it would do my soul irreparable harm. I would advise the rest of you to steer clear of it as well!"

The door opens wide and there she is - the Laugher in the well. The laughs echo out of this room louder than you've previously heard, as this has been the source.

The room has six sarcophagi scattered about the room haphazardly.

As soon as you open the door, she rips off a lid on one of the sarcophagi. As that happens, another lid opens as well, seemingly on its own. Inside rise two corpses, their 3 foot long tongues whipping about.

Everyone go! State fast or slow init and what you'd like to do with your round.

Android | Wizard (exploiter) 2| Magus (Eldritch archer) 1/ Alchemist (Mindchemist) 1 | HP 20/20 | AC 15 | F 4 R 7 W 4 | Perception +8 | Init: +11

I just assumed we could have it broken up for us once we're actually purchasing things.

Regulus intones to the others "Prioritize single targets. Eliminate risks most efficiently." With that he barrels through the door and strikes at the isolated corpse, leaping over a coffin as he goes.

Can I do that? Otherwise I suppose I could go around the coffin but that's no fun.

Slow init move and attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (20) + 3 + (2) = 25

As soon as Drot can get through the door he swings wide to the north moving along the wall. placing him two squares from the northern most coffin. He grins with anticipation and lets lose the last of his magical piercing rounds.

Charles follows in after the others, raising his club he moved to stand alongside Big Gronder and denounced the outsider.

Slow round. Move and distract.

"So, Dessicator. It's not enough you yourself suck the life out of those you ensnare, but you must create undead abominations as well?!"
Distraction vs. Laugher: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Fast

None.

Slow

PCs:

Regulus leaps over a sarcophagi and slices into the dessecated moving corpse. Tesswyn follows through and ends the undead abomination.

Yes, a 9 hits it. :)

Tesswyn Damage vs DO: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (2) = 8

Gronder charges the other dessecated one, cleaving it with his axe, but unfortunately he does not destroy the thing.

Drot fires a magic dart at the undead creature, obliterating it.

Drot Damage vs DO: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Charles tries to admonish the demon, and succeeds in keeping it distracted as it attacks.

Enemies:

The Dessication Demon looks at all the tasty morsels surrounding her. CGRT: 1d4 ⇒ 3

She turns into mist and floats towards Regulus, re-materializing and striking with her claws, ripping into the metal.

Laugher vs Grondor: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (19) + 6 + (2) = 27
Charles Distraction added one Bane to her attack, which canceled out one of the two Boons she gets.

As her claws grab Regulus, her face presses against his, but as his body is not flesh it seems to have no effect.

Claw Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Regulus takes 3 damage.

Mist Recharge?: 1d6 ⇒ 1 -> No.

Behind you, two more sarcophagi open up, revealing two more dessicating ones - their tongues long and lashing, looking for moisture to suck up.

Map updated.

Also added a new image to the slide notes, so you can see what the dessecated ones look like.

Everyone up!

Walter looks at the creature before them and calls upon his god to create the holy symbol of his faith and uses its divine power to compel the demon.

"Back demon! Back to the frozen hells from which you sprang. Release your hold on this land and those poor dead, and let their souls travel back to their holy reward!"

Will cast Holy Symbol and attempt to use it to force the demon away

Going to wait a bit longer for Drot and Charles; mostly because I'm exhausted and can barely think. Will try to get a post up in the mornings if my kids let me. Otherwise by lunchtime tomorrow. (PST)

Fast

Grondor misses. :(

Regulus, Tesswyn, and Charles all attack the demon. She squirms and slithes out of the way of all the attacks. All miss.

Walt summons his Holy Symbol and screams prayers at the demon, but to ill effect. These creatures do not have the same fear of the gods that the ghoulish bards had.

Slow

Drot moves in and whacks the demon with his staff.

Intellect for how hurt the demon was by Drot's attack: 1d20 - 2 - 1d6 ⇒ (19) - 2 - (6) = 11

Can I tell if that did roughly 1/10 of her health vs 1/3, etc?

I'm not sure if thats a thing in this game, but let's roll with it. About 1/10th. But she has a high Defense.

The DO's all have 6 HP and low Defense. Easily killable.

This is a good time to start using teamwork tactics. Help each other by granting boons (just requires a Challenge Roll, so DC 10), or use attribute attacks against the demon that are easier to hit. See the campaign tab for combat options.

This is a deadly game, and this demon does have an ability that could kill one of you in one hit.

Android | Wizard (exploiter) 2| Magus (Eldritch archer) 1/ Alchemist (Mindchemist) 1 | HP 20/20 | AC 15 | F 4 R 7 W 4 | Perception +8 | Init: +11

If I grapple her on one turn, is there a prone or pin option on subsequent turns? Something that could really shut down the pain she puts out? We might just want to kill the DOs ASAP to reduce damage output then have a nasty fight with her...

Orc Magician/Berserker/Librarian 7 |Dmg: 2d6| S14, A10, I14, W10 | HP 13(10)/40(10) | D14 | Speed10 | Power3 | Perception15 | Insanity0 | Corruption4 | Fortune: No | Status: Terribly Sad

I knew I should have donned my Arcane Armor...

Drot is surprised when the monster suddenly turns to him. His sense of combat isn't what it used to be and he freezes, hesitation, possibly one of the last things he'll ever do.

Fate: 1d6 ⇒ 6

This is not how I'll die... I am not done with this world yet!

Male Dwarf Warrior 2 | S11, A11, I9, W10| HP 24\24 | DEF 14 (13 if no shield) | Move: 8 | Insanity: 3 | Corruption: 1 | Fortune: Yes | Status: Normal

Gronder ducks the lashing tongue of the thing in front of him and ducks to one side, looking like he'll slash, before swinging back in the other direction.

Feint: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Drot, I spoke a bit early there. You do not fall unconscious. Instead, you become Incapacitated and fall prone. But you're still conscience. With the 6 on your Fate roll, you heal 1 HP and become Impared for 1 minute. You're free to take an action or move now. You are still Prone.

Impared: An impaired creature makes all attack rolls and challenge rolls with 1 bane.

Male Human Path Level 1 (Priest) | S10, A11, I11, W11 | HP 11\14 | D13 | Move: 10 | Insanity:1 | Corruption: | Fortune: No | Status: Normal Spells: Theurgy - Lvl 0 1/2, Life - Lvl 0 1/2

Does the holy symbol have any effect against the 2 undead creatures?

Moving forward swiftly, Walter places himself between the badly wounded Drot and his attacker.

"By the one true god you shall not have him!"

Will use final life spell to heal wounds on Drot

Male Human Priest/Paladin/Healer Level 8, / S 14, A 10, I 11, W 14, / Health: 47 (41: W/Crown: -6 ), Damage: 0, Perception: 11 (Crown: +2 Boons) Def: 10 (18), Move 10, Insanity 0, Corruption: 0, Fortune: (Yes), Boons (1), + Holy Symbol Boon 1 minute, Status: (Normal)

Fast init attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 3 + (5) = 19
Dam: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Quick post.

The combine assault of the brave volunteers deals a total of 14 damage to the demon, but she's still up!

Walt steps into the room to heal Drot.

Grondor tries to dodge out of the way, but gets tripped up!

The demon attacks CDGTW: 1d5 ⇒ 4 Tesswyn, slashing with her claws.

Boons: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
D vs T: 1d20 + 6 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 5 = 21

The claws dig in deep and the demon pulls Tesswyn in close to kiss her, drawing the moisture out.

Claw Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
Moisute Drain Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Tesswyn takes 7 damage and starts withering, the moisture drawing out of her body.

Tesswyn, for the next ten rounds, you must make a Strength check at the end of the round. Failure means you take 1d6 damage. If your HP hits 0 from this, you die as your body withers up into a paper thing husk.

DO vs Charles: 1d20 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + (5) = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

DO vs Grondor: 1d20 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + (1) = 16

DO vs Walt: 1d20 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + (6) = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

The Dessicated Ones all move in to attack, and each of them hits with their lashing tongues. Fortunately, none of the to guess latch on, but they still hurt.

Everyone go!

Tesswyn cries in pain as the demon's claws slash her. She sputters and gags as its foul kiss steals her moisture, her breath coming out in a hoarse rattle. She staggers away and fumbles for the vial of All Flower's Water at her belt. She quickly quaffs its contents, hoping to prevent herself from withering away completely.

All Flower's Water: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Slow initiative to move as far away as possible and drink the vial, unless moving would provoke a free attack. If so, just fast initiative to drink.

Wouldn't have mattered. An 8 hits the Dessicated One, and you did enough damage to kill it (when combined with your previous attack). :)
