For a few moments there is silence as the party charges into the room. All eyes focus on Marquez, his blade flashing menacingly toward both guard and thug. And the fighting comes to an abrupt halt, at least for a few seconds.

"Who are you?!" Demands one of the guards. "If you are from the watch, arrest these men. They have assaulted the Lady Gralhund and her house."

In the heat of the moment, I judged wrong on who was who. If the following is true, then we should all go see Lady Gralhund together and confirm that they did this. We don't know what is true or not until we ask her to clarify this up.

Marquez does not answer the guard right away. But prods at the Zhent with his rapier. ”Drop de weapon. Your assault es over.”

When the Zhents have complied, Marquez will answer the guard. ”We are not de watch. We are here to help though.”

Either way we look at it, this property belongs to the Lady Gralhund. The Zhents are in the wrong. Let us play this rescue into our favor and maybe we find our suspect that way. As of right now, we could merely be helpful citizens passing by and noticed the assault.

No problem at all, I still have the Pirate background. Dacknar has close ties with the Zhents only due to his lady friend. So if they don't tell him to stay away from some area or something, it's free game from him.

"Baa, I will not arrest anyone, no profit in it. But if you still plan on fighting, I could use an easy work out."

"You lot best be pissin' off unless you want more trouble than you can imagine." He says. "This is Zhent business and we don't put up with busy bodies nosing in our matters."

As for the guards, the man who seems to be in charge looks back and forth between the thugs and the party. Frustration and concern marks his face as he calculates the odds of keeping his charges safe. Finally, he speaks up.

"If you aren't with the watch, then help us dispatch these thieving trespassers and you'll be rewarded by the lord and lady I'm sure." He says to Marquez, trusting the bladesingers look a bit more than Dacknar.

Moments later the southern door opens and a man steps out into the hall. "What's the trouble...." He starts to ask before interrupting himself upon seeing Dacknar and the rest of you.

He also matches perfectly the description of the man who fled the alley following the blast which is also backed up by the burned and tattered look of his cloak and clothing.

Rakdon will swing at next thug hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The second Zhent thug drops under the combined strikes of Unmei and Bhoors after Rakdon successfully distracted the unwitting gangster. Their leader falls for Dacknar's feint and blocks his first blow, but doesn't see the second coming. The half-orc's blade strikes true and sinks deeps into the Zhent's side unleashing a river of blood and a pained scream from the man.

"Tsk..tsk...too bad boss. I think your man is going down." The house guard says to his commander with a slight grin on his face at the possibility of winning a coin.

Aye, you may be right." Adds the leader with a frowning nod. "Common Floxin, you bloody traitorous coward. Can't you beat a simple street hooligan?! I thought you Zhents were supposed to be unstoppable." He shouts by way of encouragement.

Bleeding furiously, the leader tries one last attempt to drive the half orc out of his way so he can escape down the stairs. His blades flash and strike an enraged Dacknar drawing more half-orc blood, but not doing enough to knock the big warrior aside.

Seeing his half-orc companion has things under control, Marquez chooses to stand aside and wait to see what the guards decide to do.

TotM: Dacknar takes another 7 and 8 points of damage. Thug 2 is dead. Party is up.

Ok, I double-checked the second hand damage, and it should only be the dice. No bonuses. I amadjusting from now on. Sorry about that. On the other hand, I just figured that the duplicate I could use in combat to gain advantage!

Unmei breathes a swift word to Mask, presenting him the death of the thug as an offering: "Look, Master, look and KNOW who is your true servant!"

She then moves on to support Dacknar, followed by her duplicate, which she uses to confuse the Zhent.
