Jackojare after having been three hours in that storm That was horrible, but I guess being a Starfinder, that is what I have to put up with.

"Oh my aching carapace!" cries K'Klacklun as he makes it through the raging storm to the eye. Seeing the storm let up for a moment, he says with relief, "Thank the Forever Queen that was over. Surely, it will be easy going from here on out." However, when he spies the chasm and ancient bridge, he stops in his tracks.
Seeing his fellow shirren race across the bridge, K'Klacklun swallows hard and tries to follow.

Alejandro hacks and coughs for a good minute once he gets through the storm. "oooh, that was rough. Wow. I need to invest in something to help with that kind of thing."
As K'Klacklun makes his statement he cautions, "that may have just been the first level of defenses. I doubt it was just a natural storm, way to suspicious how it stays in place around this complex. Be careful on the bridge."
He looks around as the first three dash onto the bridge, "uh... anyone have rope to tie ourselves together in case someone falls?"
If rope he ties himself off to any willing allies and crosses last. If no rope he just crosses last.

Most of the party crosses the bridge over the chasm absolutely fine and with no problems, unfortunately that is NOT the case for John. As he steps foot on the bridge, his second foot slips and he goes tumbling over the side!
FALLING: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
As he hits the bottom and stands up to dust himself off, the storm starts moving again, with wind picking up speed.
It makes it doubly hard to move yet again!
Thankfully, when John regains the top of the slope with the rest of the party, you see a circular building off to one side of the path.
You stand with two choices;
1. Run to the circular building and try to wait out the storm / explore
2. Push ahead on the assigned path and try to get out of the storm by getting into the outpost!
Also everyone either in spoilers or normal chat etc give me 3 fort saves no matter which choice

Kastien's shoulders ached where his armor rubbed. It wasn't that it was ill-made, he just wasn't used to wearing it while fighting 100 km/hour winds and avoiding dangerous bolts of lightning/plasma/arcane energies. He was starting to think the natives had the right idea about avoiding this place when they came to the center of the storm and the ancient outpost. His focus was on the outpost, but the circular building looked closer.
"I'm all for pushing on to the outpost. Let's get in out of this storm and get this over with."

John hustles up the slope and heads for cover.
No, I'd say we wait it out a bit. It can be worse if we get lost with in the storm.

The wind howling through the cracks, and pushing through the broken down brickwork, even though you know you can’t physically feel the cold, mentally its knifing through you and all of your protective gear.
As you stumble into the semi-circular building, a horrifying sight meets your eyes. A body, crushed by the rubble, clearly of one of the natives lies with only his feet sticking out of the rubble, windswept and clearly crushed beyond all life. His boots, all that remain are embossed with some sort of sigil, or device all down the side that would face outwards.
By his side, lies a satchel, within which lays a weapon fusion & a ring.
Other than that, the area lays deserted, and the storm continues to pick up speed, forcing you all to stumble and buck against the wind, moving only half as fast as you normally do!
K’Klackun takes one damage, from the storm continually forcing him to his knee’s.
John fares even worse and takes two points.

John leans against the wall of the shelter, thankful to be out of the storm. His eyes fall to the native, "Well, that is bad luck for him. But good for us. He will not be needing these." John moves over and looks at the item.
What checks are needed to ID these items.
If we could take a rest for 10 minutes. I need to recover my stamina

![]() |

"My word! What horror has befallen this creature!" K'Klacklun cries out upon spying the body. As John goes for the belongings, the shirren calls out, "Surely, those items don't belong to you. Are you even sure that this being has expired?"

Well, that is either a result of 7 on Preception or 9 on Medicine.

Kastien nudged one of the boots with a foot, then grunted. "Pretty sure.
"I know you need to recover, John, but I'm not sure this is the best place to do it. The wind is picking up, and the rest of this outbuilding could come down at any time."
I'm okay to rest for 10 minutes, as long as we think we can wait it out without being in too much danger.

![]() |

While checking the structure, Alejandro glances over at the body that is clearly crushed beyond all life and yells his 2 cents into the howling wind, "I'm sure John just wanted to make sure that this guy's belongings got back to his family in the village!"
You aren't sure, but he might have winked... or it was just dust caught in his eye.
Engineering to Assess Stability DC 15?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
He looks around at their protection, "anyone know if this place can shelter us or should we try to push on to get somewhere sturdier!"

![]() |

To ID the items we're looking at a mysticism & an engineering role
You're fairly sure that he is most definatley dead, even poking the body, wiggling its toes and jumping on his feet have elicited no responses.
Alejandro, is fairly concerned, with the remaining structural stability of the building, and yes, it is indeed about to go collapsing in with the rest of the surrounding buildings!
The only relatively intact looking portion of the entire surrounding area, is the pathway that leads to the original outpost, with what you can only imagine is an airlock, emblazoned with some form of sigil / device from this distance.
As you will still be making saves and potentially taking damage, no you can't take a 10 minute rest here!
Whatever the decision I'm going to need at least 3 fortitude saves, and will post in OOC chat tab if its going to be more, that wind is getting really nasty and starting to pick up rocks in it now!

Alejandro points out the remaining sturdy building, "IT'S OUR ONLY OPTION! RUN!!!"
He tries to push his way through the wind.

Leaving all semblance of calm and order, you grab the items the unfortunate will no longer need and run full speed towards the only safer from the storm in the area.

"Oh, thank the Forever Queen that we have made it to safety!" K'Klacklun cheers. "Might I suggest that we take an extended rest after our awful ordeal?"
"There was a DEAD PERSON outside!" he laments, loudly. "That could easily have been us. At least now that we have entered this structure, we should all be safe."
Do we have a moment to rest and restore SP?

![]() |

Alejandro looks oddly at the shirren while pulling out a pistol in each hand, "if you really think it's safe go ahead. I'll stand guard."

![]() |

Alejandro looks really really oddly at Kastien, "do you remember the briefing? This place was sponsored by Abadarcorp. So uh... I guess it's good to know that we are in the right outpost. I mean planets are big and we could have had bad coordinates..."
He stops his nervous chattering and finally listens for sounds of danger.

Alejandro looks oddly at the shirren while pulling out a pistol in each hand, "if you really think it's safe go ahead. I'll stand guard."
Somewhat alarmed by the prospect that they could still be in any danger, K'Klacklun looks around nervously. "Keep any eye out for any danger." he instructs B.U.G.

K'Klacklun's B.U.G. |

The drone offers a prolonged chirp in response to the shirren's instructions, then the drone hovers toward the ceiling as the firearm on its weapon mount begins a series of slow, controlled rotations in a clockwise manner.

![]() |

Apparently feeling more relaxed, K'Klacklun checks the readings of the ambient air on his armor's enviro-seals, then (assuming it is breathable) releases them. He sits down and removes a boot, shaking out a few lose stones and examines his insectoid feet.
"This entire trip has done quite a number on my exoskeleton!" he complains to anyone who may be listening. "Why the Society insists on sending agents into such uncomfortable situations when transplanetary drones would likely suffice, I'll never know!"

![]() |

"They would rather have boots on ground. Drones are not always best for first contact situations. Some other races may see that as an invasion." John says while looking around the room.
I am also willing to wait the 10 minutes to recover

![]() |

Alejandro points out the security camera, "camera up there. Can your drone hack it? If not, I expect they will know we are coming if we wait... which is fine, it just puts us on even footing."
When the wait is up and everyone has caught their breath he looks at the next door and adds, "ready when you all are."
He did not burn a RO to rest up.

![]() |

Burned RP to restore SP.
Alejandro points out the security camera, "camera up there. Can your drone hack it?
"A novel idea." K'Klacklun responds as he considers the possibility.
So, it I read the rules right, the Master Control ability (CRB, pg. 75) lets K'Klacklun make a standard action (including Skill check) with the drone (which does have mechanical arms) using his own modifiers (rather than those of the drone. Assuming, I am correct:
The shirren maneuvers the hover drone toward the camera and attempts to disable it.
Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
If the drone has to do it on its own (CRB, pg. 76), then the result is 15= 15 (roll) -2(Int modifier)+ 2 (skill ranks).

![]() |

Unfortunately, despite K'Klackun's best efforts, the cameras are simply unhackable.
They are embedded and flush to the ceiling, and with no apparent wifi or better network, there must be some wired connection behind the ceiling you just can't find or see.
As the door opens, the room beyond comes into view.
Debris litters the floor of this otherwise empty chamber. The floor paneling has been ripped up in several areas, revealing the same base earth as the exterior of the planet. The door you have just entered, resolutely refuses to shut behind you.
There are two more doors, one directly in the middle of the wall to both the North and South, both of which are securely closed.

K'Klacklun reseals his armor and followed the others.

![]() |

John and Kastien stand ready as Jackojare prepares to pull wide the door to the North.
The door opens with barely a hiss of pneumatics, and before you lays a corridor 25 feet long and 15 feet wide, with another sealed door at the end.
The south door reveals a shortened corridor only 10 feet wide leading to another door.
John: you spot something decidedly odd in the Eastern wall, it would appear to be a laser security net, set to trigger, but trigger on what, you don’t know!

![]() |

"Some sort of laser grid ahead is on the wall. Can anyone disarm it?"

![]() |

"Well we could always toss a rock into it and see what it does" He says as he reaches down and picks up a fist sized rock.

![]() |

Alejandro pipes up, "you know lasers can shoot right? I'd suggest stepping out of line of sight at least." To match his comment, he stays back and keeps his pistols pointed at the other door.
And then he adds almost as an aside, "or uh... close that door and use the other one."

![]() |

K'Klacklun, intrigued by a possible design puzzle, scans the wall, looking for means to possibly disable the security measure.
Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
If no other option comes to mind, he suggests, "The rock method seems a suitable one for testing."

![]() |

K'Klacklun sighs, "I suppose that it is my lot in life to suffer." The shirren activates his energy shield (mechanic trick) and then tosses a stone towards the laser net.

![]() |

Surprisingly enough, the laser net trap doesn't like having rocks tossed at it.
Also it seems not to have noticed, and is activating almost as if its on a proximity alert, with the party having been in the room a short while now....
It whirrs up, spinning and trys to slice K'Klackluns carapace from the rest of his body.
laser trap: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
fire beam: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 3) = 16
Then it shuts down, and closes itself into the wall again.
Unfortunately klaxons have now started going off, with a blue and red light set into the ceiling now flashing and any possible semblance of stealth is clearly no longer an option!
